You can read most of the posts from my old handle and this handle, I wrote the leading articles/essays in most of the threads on there... I write epistle when I need to - and I don't use big words, I use words words that're intelligible to most people... Am I not the type to force anything, I just let it flow - from formal English, to urban English...

The most important thing about language is your ability to communicate, not your ability to sound overly intelligent... That's why I laugh at folks on here who associate thesaurus words, with intelligence, or ability to write the language... And one reason why most Nigerians fail in Unis in the UK...

Another thing is verbosity, some write a lot without actually saying anything... So, it's better to keep it simple, precise, and intelligible to everyone...

well said! If you took time to understand the whole of my post and not only the part that concerns u only, you would have understood me better. As much as i give careful thoughts to my spoken and written english as an engineer, i still make mistakes.what i am advocating here is the way we enslave ourselves in this country because of another man's things worry me alot.if britons have their version of english, americans have theirs, i dont see any reason why we can have ours.if communicating in pidgin will make a better communication, why cant we adopt it? I have listened to lebanesse and chinese speak and they speak pidgin, not all of them though, yet they make good connection.
I dont think there's anything wrong if i speak anywhere in the world and ppl can tell where i come from. A brother's friend called me from australlia sometimes ago. I found it difficult hearing him clearly.at the same time i wanted to speak the way he was speaking so he would hear me clearly. I told myself that why should i strain my ears to hear this man and still twist my tongue for him to hear me.i shouldnt be the slave here.as much as i find it difficult hearing u, u should find it difficult to hear me too.
I'm not against those who give careful thoughts to their grammatical expression but please dont let us feel like second class citizens on our land simply because we cant speak fluently an imported language. You will agree with me that it is imported religion that is causing problem we are facing here in this country.i am not against your expartise bro!

English is my first language - I guess that's why the language isn't difficult for me...

the rason u cant write more than few lines so your faults wont be noticed abi?
I care less about my faults in english,be it writen or spoken.if english language can be failed in the country where it is their first language,yoruba can be failed by a yoruba man,demn! I care less!
I studied engineering in my first degree.i get worried if i commit professional mistakes because i dont have 4 years to waste learning english.i think graduate of english should be worried because they have chosen to learn another man's languaja.
Personally i dont like it when ppl start finding faults in another person's grammatical expression.even britons commit blunders,have you ever heard chinese or lebanese make speak english? They communicate and not bothered if the expression is correct or not.as much as i give carefull thought to how i communicate, i still find some known mistakes and sometimes unknown mistakes.you have a lot to fight when writing, tenses,spellings,punctuations,which one has "s" in its plural form, which is colloquial and a lot(difference between a lot & alot,etc).

There's no way you wont do business with Govt, if u are talking of Nigeria. Govt is the biggest spender in this economy, and I dont really see how you can do without advancing to do business with the Govt. I have found myself severally in your shoe and honestly it can be frustrating. However, I got this idea from a friend and that is what i use these days.....I write: EXPRESSION OF INTREST (EOI). Just give introduction, definition, objectives and the expectation of what my proposed project will achieve. At the end, I will get their interests, worked on their psyche....... and i wld request their invitation to come and do need analysis FREE. I tell you, in most cases I av been called...usually I win some, and I loose some. Thats how it works sometimes.

globatop: To me, MTN is a scam, I feel they cant support that plan, hence once u dont have enough credit, u are out for life, several calls to CS for renewal yield no result. pls switcth to et isa lat, better benefits awaits u.

Aqva: Try the Mercedes Benz 190. strong and rugged. Fuel consumption is moderate. Hardly gives issues. Also you can try Toyota Carina E. Fuel consumption is low and it is rugged. Golf 3 is also ok. These cars are ok for aveage and low salary earners. Has none of those useless modern electricals found on modern cars that causes a lot of trouble.
I believe you can get these cars for about 700k or thereabout.

what i will advice my fwend is not to spend the entire 700k on buying a car.by car worth 500k, keep 200k incase of emergency @ home or on the car.it 200k will be available to relieve u.
I will advice u go for G3.u get direct tikunbo for 500k 600k and nigerian used 350 400k.good ones.i am saying this because the maintenance is relatively cheap.i have not heard of golf or volkswagen technician but i have heard of honda and benz technician. The reason is that if u buy honda or benz now, u need experts to fix it.u start looking for them all around. And u know the implication of having experts for vehicle.money! Benz 190 that i know usually have no issues and its issues are very manageable.
Any technician can fix golf engine.u are traveling and it develops fault.drive it to okada or bicycle technician.i bet u they will fix it for u.
Another reason hear is family and friend issues.if they see u in honda,toyota or benz, they conclude "money don arive" golf is a small and classy car for convinience that doesnt anounce one unneccesarily.maintenance and fuel consuption of honda and toyota are low but CAN NEVER be lower than golf.

thanks for the insight.i think thats whats happening. I was not charged up to N20 for my on-net. I think my lose of trust for MTN made me come up with that erroneous conclusion.it was airtel number i called that i was charged roughly N20/min.if i calculated it well,it could have been N18/min anyway.
I will still keep an eye on my credit because the MTN that i know...

I subscribed to MTN smooth talk sometimes last month. MTN kept deducting N5 from my account every 24 hrs as expected. My fear was what happens on the days i do not have credit for access fee, will MTN deduct money for those days the day i finally load airtime? To find out, i left my line without enof credit for 3days.the forth day i loade, i got a message 'your subscription has expired pleas dial *401*1# or send ON to 131 to renew your subscription' to cut a long stopry short,it is more than 24 hrs now i sent 'ON' to 131 yet my subscription has not been renewed.i'm charged N20/min for on-net calls and even more for off net. How long will i wait for renewal of subscription? I dialled *401*1# but kept telling me network busy.

it's not working properly on MTN though.

Nokia Asha 200 right...?
I think you should consider using a later version of opera mini...say v6 or preferable v7...

its asha. i tried it with opera mini V7.i selected mp4 and the download process was initiated but keeps giving download failed message.i itried it with all format present but keeps failing.pls any1 with nokia asha 200 should verify this and posibly come up with a solution as i am trying hard as well.

I was @ abule egba personally for inspection when u directed micheal to pick me up @ mr biggs' the moment i entered the compound and viewed it from rear, i told myself then that i would be picking this ride home that day. I had 200k cash down then to pay u 80k latter. The money had been with me for long and was scared of spending it on something else. I tried holding on to the money till month ending until i saw a golf 3 with my friend who said i should pick it for 280k. I droped 230 with him to balance him 50k.
The reason for this sermon is simply to tell whoever that cares for a lovely and reliable G2 ride to go for inspection before pricing it. The ride is ok.

u neva dey desperately in search of job thats why u talk like this.i once almost fall a victim.it was during my 6month industrial training.second month was almost gone.i saw the poster requesting for IT students to be paid 15K. I went to the place i was directed to when i called the number.on getting there,it was a brothel in ikeja. The guy came to meet me and told me to pay N200 for the form.immediately i knew it was a scam.i told him i was coming.that was it.

I was called from a bank recently that my atm short paid a guy who came to complain.thank god i was around the banking premises and they just loaded cash.i breezed in to defend my machine.
when i checked the journal,it recorded 4k against 3k that was dispensed.we counted the money left in the cassete.it was one bill more that what the machine said was left.if the guy hadnt reported,the bank will have an unclaimed overage.this is a machine.unexplainable situations can occure.i'm an atm engineer!

you complain to the bank.of cause there can be mistake on the part of the custodian,loading 500 in 1000 tray.you have to complain to the bank.there are some errors whose cause can be established.u have to count your money even if u have to step aside for others to use the atm while u count it.i'm an atm engineer and i'm speaking as a professional.no system is perfect.

HDD 40GB RAM 1GB
the problem wasnt there until i copied the movied that left roughly 3gig free space of the hdd.after freeing the used space,it was still draging but reduced.i have even deleted some stuffs that were there b4 i copied the movie,yet still draging occassionally.it wasnt like that b4 i copied the movie.now no movie,problem still persists.

My pc slows down ocassionally when playing movie,music or opening files.i discovered this when i downloaded movie that left bearly 4gb of the hdd.i deleted the movies when i saw no improvement.after deleting it,it only improved while it drags occassionaly.i suspect the ram of virus.what do u think?
