Mankind2024: "The fundamental law of investing is the uncertainty of the future." Don't be too sure of what is going to happen. If you were sure of the future, you would have taken the most difficult loans with the highest interest rate and invest same in NAHCO @N2.30, TRANSCOHOT @ 3.40, Transcorp plc @ N1, CWG pls @N0.9k, SEPLAT @N350. Always remember that the future is the most uncertain in the fundamental law of investing. The future depends solely on what we do in the present! Your tone has really changed. You sound very different from that guy that said TRANSCORP will NEVER go below 5 with so much certainty like you could see the future. You insulted me when I questioned your methodology. Looks like you’ve really changed to a more reserved person and your approach to investing is much different now. I like the new you. Maybe it’s a different person, but your new moniker is very similar to the old one. |

chillykelly86: My dear, this line you and Ades1 are towing is very dangerous. I can say with some level of certainty that a good number of the most useful resource persons here don't have anything to prove to anyone and will not take up this your challenge.
If you don't want to take someone's recommendation or analysis because they haven't shown their portfolio, pass it and don't deprive those who want to use them the privilege.
This thread shouldn't be narrowed to fit the boxes carved by a few. Let us live and let live. Oh I know no one will show anything. I’ve been around long enough to know that. I own a ton of Zenith, UBA, UCAP, GT etc if their prices drop in half today I’ll be jubilating while others gnash their teeth. This allows me to buy more! That’s my process and I’ve stuck to it for years. Everyone should have a process they’re comfortable with and stick to it, instead of all the noise. We dey here when some people said UBA at N8 was expensive, instead of listening, I bought a ton more. We haven’t seen some of those people here in 2 years |

Streetinvestor2: Why are u interested in that information. When you recommend stocks, you should show that you’re willing to risk your money. Am I really interested in that information? Not really. I am also not interested in how long people have been investing in NGX but it is mentioned here a million times. Imo, if you’re willing to share how long you’ve been investing, your cost basis and recommendations, you should be willing to share what you hold in your portfolio too. |

toyeoye: Lol @ beer joint... I am also optimistic the Naira will be strengthened and eventually be exchanged according to it's true value but for now o, #1,251 low and is artificially capped, so the CBN is subsidising. Our currency is merely a means of exchange and not a store of value. Now if you also say that pms is not subsidised, I cannot be bothered...
Up Naira! please collect your gold medal from the moderator, you win. You're wasting your time with these people jare. In here, I am the biggest Naira advocate but even in my sleep I can see the game the CBN is playing with this dollar thing. They're literally playing the same game Emefiele played and lost. That $$ they borrowed to sell to BDC will finish then what? I have never exchanged my naira for Dollar EVER, but that is about to change. |

Nvednutfr33: Good day everyone, am still new to this group and to the Nigerian stocks and been quietly observing things here. Kudos to the person who started this group and kudos to the contributors. I would be posting my questions from time to time and would continue to observe and learn from you guys here. Thank you everyone. Before I go please what’s with the astronomical daily rise of Juli pharmacy shares and can one buy it or not? Thanks for the anticipated response(s) Since you're new to stocks, my small recommendation is to stay away from companies you cannot explain their rise, those are for the experts. Find companies with very good fundamentals, question everything, do your own research before putting your hard earned money into anything. |

KarlTom: As much as I commend your message, I have a feeling you do not care about 'small scale traders' and you do not hide that feeling.
However, a closer look at this quoted message shows that you actually are open to TRADING & INVESTING. All you seek is the one with the highest YIELD and lowest RISK.
200k is big money if it can be made every day (that's roughly ₦6m p.m.). This is at variance with someone who is growing his/er portfolio solely on dividend. S/he go old for there
Like @Ositadinma said, one thing is certain: every price movement is an opportunity to make money (either passive as price appreciation/dividend or active by trading/ JIJO).
All of the above have their fair share of RISK.
To each mallam his kettle... Oh I am here to make money for sure, it is always about the risk/reward for me. And I find it misleading when people talk about their success and not their failures. If a trader has been making N200k daily consistently for the past 5 years, how much will they be sitting on today? Will that trader still be going through all that stress on top of N200k? I will even call name, if Osita has been a successful trader for the past 5 years, making N200k daily, do you think he will still be chasing 200k? Like I said, if your success rate is 90%, matter of fact even 70%, keep at it. |

Adinije: I wonder what is wrong in buying Dangsugar at 47 and selling at 60 for quick gain. Or buying MTN at 190 and selling at 240 Nothing is wrong if you have decent capital to invest. My point is N170k you profit today, can be lost in the very next trade. Even the jijo master Loco has said his ultimate goal is dividends. My message was the RISK/REWARD part of trading. If you can get it right 90% of the time by all means keep at it. Who here has 50m and is risking it for 12% or so, when they can get 6-10% RISK FREE? We all dey this market, 5 years ago lots of us were young, small timers and saw N200k as big money, 5 years in, I have outgrown it, 200k can't even shake the portfolio again. The same thing can be said about every INVESTOR who kept at it for the last 5 years. Traders on the other hand, are still hustling for the same N200k they hustled 5 years ago. I made my intentions known from my very first post, I am not here for small money, I am here for HUGE amounts |
Investment › Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Ades1: 3:51pm On Mar 18, 2024 |
ositadima1: Nothing stops you from using 50 million to trade. At least an 8.5% return should give you a profit close to 4.5 million. With such moderately large capital, you would not have the flexibility that someone with smaller capital has. You would need to check liquidity before entering a trade. You can invest 50 million in target stocks 2 or 3 times a year and close with a profit of around 15 million for the year. Or, you could aim for higher returns; the possibilities are endless.
It is a misconception to think that you are not "sharing money with other parties" when you depend on dividends. In reality, you share your profits with the company's staff, raw material vendors, and through taxes. In short, you cannot conduct any business without using part of your revenue to facilitate costs. One thing I have realized is that traders only show their wins, they never show their devastating losses. The risk/reward of N4.5M on a N50M investment is a joke imo. When you can use that 50m to collect around 3M in your savings completely risk free. We've seen traders here change their minds depending on what the market does for the day. Today it is bull because markets are green, tomorrow it is bear because of 3% down, do you not think they are equally trading based on these sentiments. My NGX portfolio is up around 200% and growing because I have held through thick and thin. I have also invested most of the dividend payments. This is why 170k is small in my eyes today, I probably had different views of that same amount 3-4 years ago |
Investment › Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Ades1: 2:52pm On Mar 18, 2024 |
ositadima1: For Morgan Capital, one round-trip transaction should incur a cost of less than 2.5%. Therefore, with an 11% return, subtracting the 2.5% cost would result in approximately 8.5% net profit. An 8.5% return on an investment of 2 million would yield 170,000. Although this may seem modest, a few of these transactions can accumulate into a substantial amount.
A meager 5% monthly return compounds to an impressive 79% annually, outperforming SUKUK, bonds, and Treasury bills, though with a higher level of risk. When I see all the stress people here do for small figures like 170k, 200k, 300k, I laugh hahahahaha..... Do you know how much blood pressure one would have to undergo for these small small profits?? This is why I outlined all methods and decided dividends was my best route for peace of mind. I am glad I did, I would be mad if I were sharing my profits with brokers |
