What we would be nice to see is two dying companies (Nokia & Blackberry) merge. Who knows what might come out of it but certainly not an iphone killer or even Galaxy challenger.
Both companies are a victim of their own unwillingness to embrace change
Programming / Re: Anyone With Experience In Adobe FLEX? by adewaleafolabi(m): 7:18pm On Oct 03, 2012
I had used adobe AIR at some point. It allows the use of javascript, actionscript as well as flex. It had the advantage of building apps across platforms without having to worry*
it had a feature called captive runtime. Which just means you can create an app which the AIR runtime is integrated already. Therefore write a program and just run on another pc no installation needed. It allows you to run apps on ioS just choose that while exporting from flash builder.

A "good" heart or honesty is not a factor of production. Its not tangible and seriously is a liability.
Lots of people with good intentions are in jail, lots of people have been sincerely killed.
What Nigeria needs isn't a government that gives sincerity of heart as an excuse for irresponsibility but a government that understands the plight of the people as well as the problems confronting the Nigerian country, and RISING up to provide sustainable and efficient solutions to the age long problems.

People are fed up wt his crap.

Let him be impeached.

Tђat will make majority of 150million plus nigerians happy.

LET HIM GO!! angry

I can categorically say this is a clamour for more cash. Lets not delude ourselves, has the House of Rogues and The Stealers all of a sudden now realised its time to do the right thing? I smell foul play here, everyone wants a well stocked share of the new 5000 naira note. Imagine GEJ giving a peace offering say 50million to each members for starters, would they still be shouting Impeachment, may be some few, but majority would quickly put their difference aside.
Ghana-must-go is a game changer any day any time!
But should the Legislooters eventually go ahead with the impeachment and succeed, then i'd have a rethink about this country and apologize for calling them rogues and thieves

Go and read about the circumstances of the ambassador's death
He was left defenseless, no security!
It was Libyan corrupt policemen that were guarding him.
In fact he disappeared for four hours before his body was recovered!
Very soon you will be seeing how his corpse was maltreated like that of Gaddafi on youtube!
Obama's fault?
Of course, it was his policy that created the mayhem,
I'm sure the ambassador must be thinking right before he died that he was in the midst of friends! angry

That my friend is the simple difference between Democrats and Republicans. Imagine this happening during Bush's tenure. To add salt to injury, the Egyptian President didn't even offer an apology for the deaths cause rather he was preoccupied with calling for the 'head' of the film producer.
Politics / Re: Foreigners Own Naira Patent – CBN by adewaleafolabi(m): 10:11pm On Sep 04, 2012
apala911: The trademark patent right of the naira notes in circulation is owned by non-Nigerians, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has revealed.
The apex bank yesterday cited this as one of the reasons it wants to redesign the naira notes. According to the director of corporate communications of the CBN, Mr Ugochukwu Okoroafor, “it was quite shocking to us when we discovered that the patent rights of some of our notes are owned by non-Nigerians.”
Okoroafor, who spoke with financial journalists in Lagos yesterday, said it is not right or safe for a sovereign state such as Nigeria to have the patent right of its legal tender owned by a foreigner. “It is dangerous for us as a nation because they can hold us at the neck with it,” he stated.
He however noted that the patent rights of the new designs of the naira would be owned fully by Nigerians, adding that this was one of the crucial reasons the CBN wants to restructure the naira.
Okoroafor also debunked reports that the apex bank would be spending N40 billion in the printing of the controversial N5,000 notes as well as that of the redesigned notes. According to him, “it is an absolute lie and it is quite outrageous.”

Stating that people who are making such claims should check their facts correctly, he said “the CBN does not hide how much it spends on note printing annually. It is there in our annual reports, so people who are making such outrageous claims should go and check our annual report which is a public document.”
He said due to the false information that is being proliferated, the CBN had decided to publish the amount it has been spending on note printing as well as what it would spend in printing the new currencies.
He further stated that, rather, the apex bank would be saving N7 billion from the printing of notes annually through its “Project Cure”, as it is cheaper to print, store and transport larger bills.
Defending the introduction of the N5,000 note, he said it is meant to serve big transactions, noting that it is not meant for everyday or minor transactions. He also reiterated that it would in no way increase inflation rate in the country as more money would not be injected into the system.
He stressed that the market forces would determine its use, citing the American $1,000 and $10,000 notes which he said are used only for special transactions.
Mazi Okechukwu Unegbu, former president, Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, said it is not the standard practice to have the patents of national currency held by foreigners. It is because Nigeria lacks the technology and trained personnel to manage its own printing. It is dangerous because if we have to get it back we will pay heavily.

However, he said, it was not enough reason to justify the currency restructure and printing of N5,000 note. “CBN should have first come out with policy to make coins acceptable such as increasing their values before considering its current policy which in itself is contradictory of other policies of the CBN.”

http://businessnews.com.ng/2012/09/04/foreigners-own-naira-patent-cbn/

Basic economics teaches about the types of forces that determine day-to-day activities: economic (invisible hand), social and political forces. 4 years in Economics school taught me that Economic principle and theories fail when it comes to Nigeria. Why? simple, Nigeria is riddled with a messy interplay of political forces driven by sheer and shameful greed.
Commonsense would tell us the simple use of the N5,000 - More of looting. Look at it what does the N5000 enable people to do? Is it not making it more convenient to hold more of money in cash? isn't this negating the principles of a cashless economy? More cash being untraceable creates is just the perfect environment for criminals
Rather than making N5000 we should be withdrawing higher denominations from circulation, as well as properly implementing penalties for cash handling. That way people would be forced to use cashless methods. Eventually reducing illegalities and making people generally more accountable.

A branch of Economics that Nigeria needs is Common Sense Economics.

Politics / Re: Bayelsa New Flag: Jonathan Must Speak - Lawyers by adewaleafolabi(m): 9:37pm On Aug 10, 2012
Pukkah: What's this lawyer talking about? I don't see anything wrong in what the Bayelsa state government has done (new flag and anthem). Is Nigeria not a Federation? Is a state within the Federation not entitled to its seal, flag and anthem?

I think more states should begin to demand for what they are entitled to under this federal arrangement, from true political federalism to true fiscal federalism.

Also, if we must take it further, shouldn't a state or part of a state have the right to leave a country and stand alone or join another country? Shouldn't this be the ultimate expression of the fundamental human right of freedom of association?

Shouldn't a democratic constitution spell out the conditions to be met for part of a country that wants to leave or for another state in another country that wants to join the country? Why can't there be a constitutional right of secession?

These are some of the fundamental questions which are beginning to stare us all in the face.

Every part of Nigeria is complaining of marginalization or one thing or the other. Is any part of Nigeria fulfilled or happy with the union? Is it not high time we addressed the basis of togetherness or express that ultimate freedom of association?

kindly permit me to say that "Your head is there" Its time to demand for true federalism or even better still a confedracy or common wealth of sovereign states.

Programming / SMS Shortcode Issues by adewaleafolabi(m): 2:58pm On Jul 03, 2012
Hi,
I need to offer a service that would utilize sms shortcodes. I got in touch with txtNation and everything seems to be fine, their apis aren't cumbersome and works well for what i have in mind. However, i found out that the minimum my users would be charged for using the shortcode is #30.00 Naira. For me that's just the deal breaker.
Could someone recommend a shortcode service that would charge subscribers as low as 3.00 or at worst #5.00.
Thanks

Programming / C Help by adewaleafolabi(m): 6:56am On Jun 16, 2012
First off I do not write C/C++ .

I have a problem with Prozilla despite it being a great download accelerator, you can even specify the number of connections it should make to a single file and they all run simultaneously shocked There is however a bug. When prozilla encounters a long filename from a url it just quits.
For example sending the url below into prozilla, prozilla would begin, display the file size and exit

http://o-o.preferred.mia05s03.v13.lscache1.c.youtube.com/videoplayback?upn=1Q0vivBJ9xA&sparams=cp%2Cid%2Cip%2Cipbits%2Citag%2Cratebypass%2Csource%2Cupn%2Cexpire&fexp=919313%2C907217%2C907335%2C921602%2C919306%2C922600%2C919316%2C920704%2C912804%2C913542%2C919324%2C907344%2C912706&ms=au&itag=44&ip=96.0.0.0&signature=A5AEAB1804FC5FCF49D97D69716DFB08BC643472.7BC23258BE4F31D489D80E0E1ADE0198EC13FFB4&sver=3&mt=1339825213&ratebypass=yes&source=youtube&expire=1339848966&key=yt1&ipbits=8&cp=U0hSTlhPVl9LUENOMl9QSVpKOjZpX0d0RXA1YzNp&id=52bed0051ff082d6.

I propose a rule can be added for prozilla to truncate a file name and limit it to maximum of 15 characters or even add an argument to it to enable users specify the desired filename
eg prozilla -o=my_desired_filename url

Here's the link to the source code: ppa.launchpad.net/tahutek-team/prozilla/ubuntu/pool/main/p/prozilla/prozilla_2.0.4~precisebuild1-0tahutek1.tar.gz
