Sweetle:
When we keep saying that there's so much injustice in this country they say we are wailing.

Thank you Channels TV, figures don't lie.

Everyone can see that allocation to the SS where bulk of the nations revenue comes from is less than the 97% regions.

This is what Buhari has turned Nigeria into.

For those against Biafra or Niger Delta Republic you can see that Buhari has already divided this country into 97% & 5%.

I really pity the Niger Delta people, they have been so cheated in this country.
This is devil statistics. Please read behind this stupid table. Use your brain. We know the 2016 capital projects- they include coastal road and other things coming to the region. The SS region was cornering 90% capital projects both FG and oil companies for the last 20 years. Uyo, Calabar and Portharcourt have grown more than 500% in the period.

This is one of the most intelligent posts I have read on Nairaland. Nigerians don't just get it.
Dangote is one of my most admired persons but the Presidency is in a different space, the political space. The leadership skills, authenticity and representability requirements are top notch for the Presidency . Business skills are not enough. Tech skills are not enough. The best people like Dangote do is influence who becomes President

well Nigeria always have misplaced priorities.

d ND conflict is a for fast boats n maybe A29's.
Let us understand our country properly before commenting. Three-quarters of the Niger Delta is now accessible by road. You can drive to Nembe and most large communities in Delta State. The NA & NN have probably 400 gunboats already. There is need for large caliber guns and artillery the kind that was used to level Camp 5 during Yaradua 's administration.

There is a valid point you are making for A29s and choppers however there are required complimentary components on the ground that must be large caliber guns with long range and other things like that .

Let us leave military logistics for the professionals. The training is now M.Sc course in war colleges and the processes and protocols of decomposing a strategy to its logistic requirements are well developed.

Of what benefit is it having these MRAPS & scorpions down south?
These are probably more useful in fighting up north or the middle belt undecided
SCORPION TANKS;
Scorpion light tanks are the only large gun carrier you can deploy in the Niger Delta . They are aluminium turret and Hull. They have 70mm gun and you can put ten of them on a barge and ship them anywhere. You cannot send them to the north, IEDs will tear them to pieces.

hmm...
i know am going to get skewered for what am about to post, but last time I checked, there was still 'some' freedom of speech. so...

I think we miss the context within which GEJ made that statement.

Dangote has a lot of investments in Nigeria. so he can be termed a 'homegrown' billionaire & I think that's something worthy of note (if your brother is the richest man in your LG, but with your help, he becomes the richest man in your state, wont you 'brag' about it?) if the investment clime was very unfavourable, he certainly won't have increased his wealth in such leaps & bounds.

countries around the world celebrate their homegrown billionaires & a rise or drop in value of those people is often (not always) an indication of how an economy is doing.

furthermore, Dangote is not a 'software' billionaire (billionaires without solid infrastructures ala Microsoft), his investments are 'solid' & as such heavily dependent on government policies.
Context or not. Jonathan did not make Dangote. IBB and OBJ did. The guy had already cornered the sugar market in Nigeria when Jonathan was still teaching A level students in RSCAS.

Only an illiterate uses the phase "corruption fights back"

It saddens to see educated people say such things
It does. In the Philippines a new bold President is fighting drug Lords hands down and guess what , they have already appealing to western powers to put pressure on him to stop, sponsoring propaganda on CNN.
Some people are lucky that the Buhari we have has to work under a democratic arrangement. If I were the one, there would be 5000 big men in prison without trial already then nobody would have to hear the irritating "corruption fights back" . We would be begging for their release appealing to western powers.

The problem we have today has always been there, the difference between this Fg and the last Fg is simple, the past FG where better managers than this, but then again I would be told its early days. Then I have no other choice than to be sceptic.
You are not knowledgeable.
Do you know what management is?. When you are a manager you think two, three generations ahead. Think Awo, think FDR, think Deng Xia O Ping. What did Jonathan manage?. The oil price was high and he was being led by more capable people in a particular direction.
Jonathan did not manage Nigeria at all. He did not have all encompassing vision for himself, his place in history and he had no managerial skills whatsoever.

If you say him down and asked what strategy he used to manage the economy he would not be able to tell you jack. Because there was none.

There was just high oil price and they were able to attract very short term investment alone and that was why the economy could collapse when oil price did.

That was why the refineries were non existent. Air lines zero. Defence sector zero. Education zero, Health zero.
The man only came to have fun and ge away and he did .

The hatman is obviously high on dry gin and cameroun pepper again
The man is playing on the ignorance and intellectual deficiencies of Nigerians. This is how to understand economic and social cycles;
1. It takes 5 years to build a refinery, a factory or any average size economy impacting infrastructure project. So all the credit the man is claiming are OBJs
If GEJ started any economy impacting project or his policies led to any during his admin , they should be up and running now and we should be seeing them whether government owned or private.
2. Agricultural production improvement is faster to realise - typically 1year. So we should also have been seeing rice farms, oil palm plantations to do effective import substitution. We still imported palm oil in his last year in office.
3. The highest improvement possible are HDI ones- education , health , arts, culture , innovation. This sometimes takes ten years sometimes a generation.
If you look at cultism, runs- girlism, kidnapping, armed robbery existing now you would know exactly how very bad the administration of Jonathan was.
Even Boko Haram is at least 50% Jonathan's fault although if you are self deceiving or afraid of the truth you would reach for the lazy excuse" northern elders"

Jonathan is actually a very big disappointment in many respects. He is a waster, a visionless guy bern credited witj qualities he does not even know of not to talk of possesing.
I believe the man's supporters already know this. That is why there is so much revisionism.
Politics › Re: I Handed Over Nigeria That Produced Africa’s Richest Man-jonathan Replies Buhari by Adminisher: 5:46am On Aug 26, 2016
Jonathan was borne congenitally stupid. No PhD can cure a genetic condition. Nigeria does not elect a President to make one or two men billionaires. Every country tries to grow and maintain a large middle class. It is even worse when a Niger Delta product makes this kind of statement in contemporary Nigeria . This statement ranks third in stupidity behind the stealing and corruption one and the private jets is evidence of good econy one .

I have said it many times, this Jonathan's legendary stupidity will become more and more obvious to his young supporters who are actually a little dumber than him but would eventually grow more brains as the effect of his misrule hits properly late this year and early next year.

For anyone that doesn't know, if you do a power project in Nigeria you have to sign off with the FG because of the horrible constitution (National Grid management). The same way you have to sign off with state authorities if you're building a house, or buying land. It doesn't mean the State/LG is building your house or buying your land.

Please stop using false achievements to blanket the failure, incompetence, and embarrassment of this regime

This is a private project by this man and his firm.

Politics › Re: Restructuring Will Spell Doom For Nigeria - Wakili by Adminisher: 1:59pm On Aug 09, 2016
Nigeria is not restructuring. It is wasteful, anarchic and will destabilise the whole of Africa. It will make radical Islam very powerful and they will deep their Koran in the Atlantic.

It is selfish politicians and tribalistic and unexposed youths who are fanning the flames of restructuring for nothing.

Everything that is currently wrong with Nigeria can be corrected by suing the FG to the Supreme Court for judicial interpretation - from quota system to JAMB cut-off, to states power. Other things can be corrected by Constitutional Amendments arising from motions and Bill's in the National Assembly

No army is capable of fighting and winning a war on multiple fronts.

Certainly not the Nigerian army

It is not prudent.

You can't bomb your way out of the problems in the niger delta-You create more collateral damage

It just creates more resentment and widespread disaffection

The nigerdelta problems are deep issues of marginalization that won't go away with bombs
There is no army that does not fight in multiple fronts. It is uninformed civilian thinking that does not understand this. Every army tights on multiple fronts. LICs are even more likely to be multiple front wars. Peru, Colombia, Mexico, India, Saudi Arabia, US, UK, Russia. Every one of them is fighting on multiple fronts

Politics › Re: High Death Tolls Among Soldiers: Nigeria Military Getting Unprofessional? by Adminisher: 5:07pm On Aug 08, 2016
Yes there is high death toll amongst soldiers. It actually has nothing to do with nepotism.
Whoever uses that word has another axe to grind.
The main cause of the high death toll is poor regimental behaviour caused by poor training, doctrine and lack of adherence to Procedures (TTTPS ) at the platoon level. This is the main issue with internal border COIN. All the guys see everyday foe weeks are civilians. They then drop their guards and get careless at checkpoints or entering into small villages and hamlets.

The solution is enforcement of compliance using strong RSMs, conducting frequent inspections by officers and using court martial procedures to discipline slackers.

PDP had local conflicts going in all George political zones in Nigeria. Every ethnic nationality had a militia.

If NEPA improves and they pay 5000 Naira to youths and the oil price improves slightly and Dangote finishes his refinery, would it then be right to vote for Buhari?
The answer is NO and YES, depending on your ideology.
If you don't have ideology, please don't vote.

I theorise that power, Infrastructure, water and others are FUNDAMENTAL RIGHTS and they should not be under control of politicians.
The money to do these should be ring fenced out of where politicians and corrupt civil servants .

Mr Barcanista

Stop over simplifying. Buhari has not FAILED.
He is just one quarter into his term. You have to develop the ability to 'sweat' over your words. I actually think Buhari has succeeded with the FOREX LIBERALIZATIOM and SUBSIDY REMOVAL , all internal inefficiencies in the Nigerian economy will be removed.

You also have to develop an ability to research facts. Nigeria is a developing country. Please get a sheet of paper and list all infrastructure projects planned for completion before 2019. I have, and the results are dramatic even at a completion success of 50 per cent.

Nigerians understand the current problems as temporary. They also know what success is. If I am reading for an exam and I try three year past question papers and score an A in all of them I am at least sure of at least a B in the exams coming. If I plant yams and water them , fertiliser the soil , and use the right insect repellent and see good looking leaves I am sure I will harvest some good yams irrespective of current hunger I may be feeling.
This is where Nigeria is now and our case is actually better than Venezuela and Angola

It is a pilgrimage, it is supposed to be painful.
The FG is opening itself the door to round tripping of dollars which degrades the spiritual significance of this exercise. No pilgrimage should be subsidised.

The reaction of people who feel strongly about this should be to SUE the FG to reverse this policy. Same goes for JAMB cut off differentials, quota system and LGAs in the north. Some of them our constitutional illegalities that can be changed by the courts instead of having idiots call for restructuring

LGDON:
Many years after the abolition of slave trade, Africa had never Witness this kind of western aggression in our own soil the one we are witnessing now in Obama administration.

The invasion of Libya, the role he played in Ivory Coast, and the political instability in Egypt.

Libya is a failed state after the assassination of Gaddafi. Terrorist has taken over the country, if you want to be a terrorist go to Libya.

The arms Obama administration shifted to Libya proliferate into Mali and Nigeria that claimed more than 100 thousand innocent life, especially northeast Nigeria.

There was a thread that made front page a few days ago which talks about 70 percent of arms in Africa are in Nigeria. That article was right I live in the Niger delta close to the creeks, am telling you, a large proportion of youths in this environment has deadly weapons, there is proliferation of arms and we are not at war.

Obama foreign policy has brought dead and destruction to Africa and the fact he is a black man that is where my anger is coming from.

I challenge anybody here to tell me one good thing Obama has done for Africa. Even George Bush the so-called worst president in the history of America implemented a free trade agreements were by some Africa countries can sale goods in the United States without worrying about Tariff.

I repeat Obama is a war criminal and should be locked up in jail after his tenure
Obama has done more for Africa than most. He has challenged us to question our "corrupt tribal champions" we call leaders. Jonathan is gone, Zuma is feeling the heat.

Everybody has seen Africa for what it is. The potentially richest continent under a bunch of dumb crooks.

DRC is seating on 10 trillion dollars of minerals yet they are possibly the poorest. The days of channelling aid to countries governed by corrupt clueless dummies are gone and in intellectual circles in the democratic party this is new thinking.

Obama knows Nigerians very well. I estimate that in the he has been interacting with Nigerians far more smart than himself since 1987 and indeed far far smarter than many black Americans . Everything that he has done, he warned about in speeches in Ghana and Kenya. Our public office holders were just too dumb and wash with money to really think.
