ayandee: Exactly. Here, you will understand true christanity. People seek God here just to be intimate with Him, nothing more. The sermons do not speak of the preacher's accomplishments. The focus is on the Bible. Even the prayer is not rhetoric. They pray like they are conversing with God.
No mention of tithe or offering. The donations box is at the back of the church hall. If you want to give, you go there and give as you are led. No compulsion. You can even get receipts for your donations for tax purposes. Every quarter, the church will include the quarterly financial statements in the newsletter showing total income and expenditure. The church system is transparent and in spite of not making annuncements for tithes and offering, the year end reports of the church show they had a surplus. The only thing I miss is the Naija church dance. Yoruba church vibe or another party inside church Naija I hail o. |

anjilgreat: Left for me alone, I and my husband will give my daughter's hand in marriage free. No matter the amount of money paid by the groom as bride price, it can never be equivalent to the money invested in her even at nursery school level alone.
The exorbitant bride price paid by the groom is the reason why most men nowadays maltreat their wives because they feel the women are now their properties. We have to change this this mind set Money is never an exchange for value not to talk of a human life especially one's beloved daughter. For me it's exclusively value and free hand in marriage nothing like list or bride price of any kind. |
Fashion › Re: Would Fashion Design Be Relevant In A Few Years? by Advancedman(m): 1:26pm On Dec 27, 2022 |
cokeryusuf09: My observation about most young people is that when they tend to choose an occupation, they mostly go for fashion design.
If I walk around my area, I can see not less than 4 or more shops selling cloth or learning fashion design.
Is it that lucrative or maybe they don't know what to choose?
My opinion is that sometimes if youth don't know what to choose, can't they choose to solve problems in their environment. If they lack passion or are clueless about what to choose.
They can look at their community and search for an occupation that they need but few or none exist in the community.
An example is a community, that needs a plumber that fixes sewage, but they hire people from other communities.
I think youth can use this idea to earn a living. Na FOOL dey ask this kind idiotic question or just wan carry curse. |

Travel › Re: What Exactly Does One Enjoy In Nigeria As A Rich Person? by Advancedman(m): 6:11pm On Dec 26, 2022 |
Gerrard59: While discussing with some buddies yesterday, we touched on the topic “moving back to Nigeria”. I argued that Nigeria is not safe. Sure, there are places that are pretty “safe”. However, my notion of safety is when other people elsewhere can go about their normal activities without fear. For instance, I don’t consider a place safe if one part of the area keeps suffering repeated attacks from Fulani herdsmen (like Southern Kaduna and Plateau). I don’t have to be the affected party, but others who go about their normal activities should feel safe doing them. The other guy countered that, with money, one could enjoy Nigeria. “Live in Maitama, run Lister generator and live quietly.” Also, you get to be in a place where almost everyone looks like you.
Upon hearing “…with money, one can enjoy Nigeria”, I asked him to list five things/ways one can enjoy Nigeria as long as the person has money. Surprisingly, he could not mention one thing/way. I thought it wise to throw it to the house, especially for those who are anti-Japa or those who have stayed abroad for a long time and currently reside in Nigeria.
As someone with money, what exactly does the person enjoy in Nigeria? What are the differences compared to his/her counterpart in say, Namibia or Canada/UK that also has money? How do you enjoy Nigeria provided the money is available?
P.S. I understand that the notion of “enjoyment” is largely subjective. Some enjoy going to parties, while others enjoy travelling around or even reading a book while in a park. But I believe there are some universal notions of enjoyment. Intimidating and oppressing others perceived lower to your class, acting larger than life and playing god over others considered below you. |

Messi needed FIFA, VAR, referees, penalties, fixing, corruption, rigging, etc. to stand in the same category's level
Maradona played hard to won his own trophy while, pesino was always aided by soft penalty in every matches in this world cup,
The French were denied a clear penalty in the 87 mins. Even Argentina's 3rd goal had the assistant referee saying offsides, while the referee over-ruled it. congratulations to FIFA because your boy have now finally has it as you always wish him to get it, it's okay
Anyway It's Indeed a fight to finished, and it seems it has already been destined for this Messi's, to gets to lift the world cup trophy!
Congratulations to Argentina!!
Congratulations to Messi!!
Kudos to Kylian Mbappe too.

Family › Re: Why The Government Should Review Traditional Marriage Lists by Advancedman(m): 12:06pm On Dec 14, 2022 |
Mophasa: I’ve been seeing some marriage lists with insane requirements running into millions of naira on the internet lately and there’s something that actually interests me about it.
In the generations of our ancestors when this lists were curated, 99% of the brides then were virgins and have never known any man, in fact it was a taboo traditionally to give out a non virgin wvman as a bide then.
Over the years civilization have changed alot of things where wvmen feel they’re now more powerful and have grown beyond being accountable to their families and can literally do whatever they like with their lives and bodies.
At this point, I think it’s fraudulent for families to keep insisting that non virgin wvmen should keep enjoying the same traditional marriage benefits as older generational virtuous wvmen that kept their virginity for their husbands.
The government and traditional leaders need to look into this critical issues, non virgin wvmen should be given out in marriage for a token or for free, while virgin wvmen should keep enjoying the full traditional marriage rites of previous generations.
These is the only way we can hold our wvmen accountable and also encourage them to become like the biblical virtuous wvmen like Esther and Rebecca.
As a man, I will feel cheated if I have to pay millions of naira to marry a non virgin wvmen, exactly the same amount of money and expenses that my father paid for my mum as a young fresh virgin wvmen in the early 90s.
I know some persons will disagree with me but! Your emphasis is on being a virgin well that is not or less the issues but the economical and monetary issues as well as status issues too. Then female have a confined placement but now there is no restrictions so for me in the first place where does this obnoxious list emanate from? From the Bible days there is nothing like that in fact it is when a virgin is raped that the man pays, hence the language then was given in marriage but now it's selling in marriage. |

sisisioge: Since the DNA confirms her as the mother, there could only be any of this explanations:
1. The husband is chimera and so the child inherited the DNA of the husband's twin. There's been recent findings that support this.
2. The Aunty played away from home knowingly or unknowingly. Things are happening in this life.
3. There was a tampering of sample at some point. Maybe at collection or in the lab. Sh.it happens.
Dont throw stone yet, aunty might be innocent. Great. |
