Remember we have Doctor of Dentistry, Vet Doctors and they are still within their job descriptions.
There is nothing bad in allowing other professions to grow.

Examples of Professional Doctorate Degrees:

1. Doctor of Medicine (MD) – for physicians.


2. Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) – for dentists.


3. Doctor of Education (EdD) – for educators and administrators.


4. Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) – for business professionals.


5. Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) – for advanced practice nurses.


6. Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) – for public health professionals.


7. Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) – for pharmacists.


8. Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) – for clinical psychologists.

U ddnt add biochem D, microbio D, Nurse D, Anatom D, Physiolo D......

Obviously your knowledge about this topic is shallow and is a shame that a learned person will downgrade the body of knowledge of other professionals just the way you have done. The fact that one is a medical doctor doesn't make them more intelligent than others professionals and this is a fact you should acknowledge, you are only knowledgeable in your discipline.

All we have here is...the same bias HND holders in NUC that won't go and get a BSc in a university but want to use laws to equate Bachelors degree to HND/OND......their fellow brothers in pharmacy that can't study for MBBS wants to use same laws to equate them selves to physicians....

Pharmacists study Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Anatomy, Physiology, so what do you study that we don't study ?


Pharmacists education in Rx school is being expanded to 6 years to incorporate clinical and patient-oriented education and clinical care, hence the introduction of the prefix Dr. followed by (Pharm.D).

In USA, Medical Doctors write their name as Dr. followed by (MD). Pharmacists Dr. followed by (Pharm.D).

That is how it is done because they're both clinical scholars.

6 years.?? Are they the only ones spending many years in school......how does the six years equate to what physicians have to learn and train for to become consultants ...
Google is your friend ....pharmacist course content in their whole years in school doesn't measure up to what doctors learn in 100level to ordinary first MB exam , let alone clinicals (part 4-6).....

Until pharmacist can cut into brain, a heart, the stomach, to fix a person, ....combine a lot a physiological, biochemical, and anatomical ques to determine what's up with a patient, claiming they should get paid the same as professional who clearly do more than them is a comic relief

See trying to stylishly make it look like everyone's job is equal because they collaborate is downplaying the role of medical doctors....

Some pple sit in office and just dispense drugs they are told ...... While someone combines a whole lot of medical data, to diagnose a sick person, determine what will make them well and many times have cut them open to fix them....cut women open to bring out babies when they can't naturally deliver, replace organs, cut open the brain, etc.. Yet you want to downplay their role because they work with drug dispensers...well done....I acknowledge you too

a medical doctor knows all a pharmacist knows..he's the one prescribing the drugs in the first place....making it sound like pharmacist knows drugs and drug interaction and the possible physiological response than doctors is laughable ....

You can keep sugarcoating the issuing to sound inclusive ...the fact is ....none off the other medical professionals does half of what doctors do.....it's a truck-load of traaaásh to be doing less than someone and be saying you want to get paid the same ....

While I do agree with you that there is tendency for these professionals to start demanding for increase salary, howver I don't believe they would be unreasonable to start demanding for the same salary as a medical consultants.

That said, your information about mentioning that only doctors study anatomy, physiology, pharmacology and biochemistry is wrong other health professionals such as Nurses and phyical therapist also take these courses. Outside these courses, they also take their own professional courses that trained them to be professionals in their field.

It is really troubling to find professionals fighting over titles rather than outcoming their services, really unfortunate and pathetic.

But Pharmacist don't do half of what doctors do
Pharmacist training and education isn't even up to half of the volume of what doctors have to go thru...
.why on earth will they be fighting for same medical doctor title and pay grade ...

Even those with PhD in academics can be saying they wan same pay grade with a consultant oncologist or gynaecologist. its absurd...they don't do the same thing

The NUC directive has already been implemented. Im sure NUC had broad consultation even with the Ministry of Health before implementing it. Nothing can be done anymore. Your lamentations are quite unfortunate and very late.

In USA, Pharmacists are approved by American government to use Dr. prefix.

Medical Doctors are not the owners of Dr title. What they were admitted to study is MBBS and not Dr. Show me proof they were admitted to study Dr. and Dr. was written on their admission letter. Rather it was Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery.

The real Dr. are the Ph.D holders and it is called Dr of Philosophy (Ph.D). Yet they don't get angry that medical doctors call themselves Dr that they didn't study for because what they studied is MBBS.
