What is the guarantee that the school will provide jobs for people that pay them for courses? If the school is so sure of the placement then they should offer the training for free and deduct same from the employer once people are recruited by the school for them. Without a guarantee I am afraid nothing is certain unless one is just interested in learning and learning alone. |
@Davidylan, Now you are learning! It is good to know that you now admit that you made a mistake (unless that's not what your post was about). The problem is that you have made so many and never bothered to acknowledge or correct any. I agree with you on those that are on the same side of my arguement not going personal, I salute them, they have patience, I cannot stand people that don't understand what is happening and yet will want to make people believe they do and when disagreements set in they insult (while masking it anyway) their way through their weak arguements. On what is good or bad, we don't have middle grounds. Enjoy. @Otokx, I remember when the US introduced time consuming checks at the airports especially for foreigners and in no time Brasil reciprocated and not until the US saw that sometimes it will take close to 2 hours for its citizens to scale through the type of checks that Brasil introduced did it relax some of those rules. WHile Abach had his bad records I respect him so much for not taking dictations from the white house and even Tony Momoh had his own hour of reciprocation when the US renamed the street where our embassy was located in the US to Kudirat Abiola just to spite the Abacha junta. In less than one week the street where the US embassy was located in Lagos was renamed to Fahrrakan and strict instructions were given that correspondences headed towards the embassy that don't come with the new address will never get there. Every country should be treated with respect. Funny enough all the bad leaders in Africa had one form of support or the other from the West. From crude oil to diamond, the West only gains when the regions that have these are in their pockets and if they can't control them they support chaos and wars. Marshall plan worked in europe after WW11 but they will make sure that Africa does not develop because an independent and progressive Africa will spell doom for a lot of developed countries that feed fat on corrupt funds coming from Africa. Why would Switzerland accept stolen funds and use same to develop their country? The forced amalgamation of clearly distinct regions in Africa was basically to make sure that peace would elude the new but forced neighbours. What is the population of everyone in Italy? I am sure the population in Lagos is about times 3 or 4 and yet Italy is a country. Until the countries in the so called 3rd world begin to focus on the interests of their citizens and not those of the West nothing tangible can be achieved. Today we see an EFCC that is doing all it can to paint a good picture for the West as regards 419 without even bothering to tackle the real issue - the issue of stupid, lazy and greedy foreigners that are always looking for a piece of the corrupt and looted funds. Before some of us start asking what Italy and Africa are doing on this topic, the issues raised are interrelated in one way or the other. |
@Davidylan, Can you please restate your stance again for others to learn from you as regards who the US supported between Iran and Iraq so that others will appreciate your level of awareness and intelligence. You are talking about school now but you were bold enough to state that the plural of pigs is swine I guess you will be ripe for mature discussion when you are done with your schooling. Enjoy. |
@Davidylan, I am learning to do selective reading on this forum. On your own matter the day you googled something on Iran-Iraq war and came out with a position that the US did not support Iraq in the 8 year war was the day I knew I was dealing with someone with half knowledge, someone that does not think through anything but will readily search google and come out with wrong information. I am waiting for the proper knowledge on the issue at hand (unless you have introduced another and proceeded to discuss that with yourself). Meanwhile, you tend to use a lot of words that may warrant one to look for a dictionary before understanding your posts. Keep things simple because only when the sender and receiver of information are clear on the message will you say you have communicated with your target audience. |
@Topic, This is a classical case of analysis paralysis, at the end of the day we will not even remember the issue on board. May I remind some of us that the difference between the US on one hand and Iran & Venezuela on the other is that the US spreads a certain type of democracy to other nations using bombs and wars just as Chavez rightly pointed out while Iran & Venezuela are not spreading any ideology with bombs and wars. How many countries in reality in the middle east are not practicing democracy and the US has the strongest ties with 2 of the countries that do not practice democracy - Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. Still on double standards by the US About 3 or 4 days ago I could not believe my ears when I heard on CNN that the US was sending a team of business men/proposal to Lebanon as its contribution to rebuilding Lebanon, a country it supported its bombings. A good example of the US helping other countries, abi? @Hugoboi, Just saw your silly post and all I can state is that you are clueless as to the issues on board. |
Chxta, No vex. It's just that it is hard seeing people trying to pull wool over our eyes in this age and time. Until I read something new on the topic, I will not respond, just read and enjoy. Later. |
@TayoD, This thread has given the world ample opportunity to see you for who you really are. You think that brushing aside the issue of double standard by the US will help your position, but alas, it has done you in. I am still waiting for the faults, abi you don forget? In my lifetime, I have come across a lot of people that are even afraid of themselves, always trying to live false lives, trying to desperately paint a different picture of reality. Your blind and wrong blanket support for the US regardless of its shortcomings is very very condemnable and a shameless act by a Nigerian who may be portraying us as egg heads. Just needed to add this - YOU LIE about you response to toshman's post because your first response was +++++++++++++++++++++ TayoD (m) Minneapolis, MN Posts: 487 Online Re: Hugo Chavez: Matters Arising « #9 on: September 22, 2006, 06:57 PM » -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hmm. Another thread for U.S. bashing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Report to moderator Logged -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For in him we live, and move, and have our being - Acts 17:28 +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++= You should be bold enough to accept responsibilities of your actions whether right or wrong, that is what decent people do!!! Trying to lie through your teeth by claiming to have responded in a certain way (way too different from your actual response), really unfortunate. |
@Nutter, If truth be told, the real reason why TayoD won't list the faults of the US is that things like hypocrisy and double standards will make the list. Very interesting discussions indeed and very revealing too. |
Stevematrix, The project is easy to accomplish but the platform may be the wahala - .NET, ASP Anyone that is comfortable with PHP will effortlessly complete this in a matter of hours. You may need to think open source in the near future as that is where the action is. |
sunnychuks:Sunnychuks, You must be a very silly human being. I do realise that what is bad is bad regardless of the person in question. I have tried to state things the way they really are not what sounds nice to the ears, little wonder we prefer rumours and gossips to real issues. I do not forgive, I have no business forgiving anyone let alone Chimaroke, so that part of your silly post makes no sense. On his atrocities, they are also well known but I do make categorical statements based on what I know and what I can defend. The issue of Sunday Ugwu is well known, a family I know too. On Mbaka, I cannot vouch for the claims and counter claims about what really happened because some talk about gas (which would have killed a lot of people anyway) while others initially stated that some were shot at the Adoration Ground. I have been there before and it is very clear that people can die from stampede due to the very narrow exits. I lost a cousin that worked with Chimaroke and rumour had it that he was killed by the governor. He was terribly sick before dying and only God knows what killed him. So, if I have lost someone that the governor is being rumoured to have killed, why would I defend the governor? Unfortunately, we are eager to either give blanket commendation or condemnation regardless of the specifics. I am a business man not a politician so doing a PR job for the governor is out of the question. I am from Enugu State and when people tend to make statements that are not entirely correct, I do comment on such statements. If you cannot live with that, go straight to hell. |
@TayoD, We are waiting. What are those faults of US? @Nutter, Thanks a lot for the information, we need to tell it as it is. @Toshman, No one needs aid, all we need is fair trade. The 3rd world countries are being ripped off by the wealthy ones and many still don't see it. If you have the time, you may see the following threads The "Reality" of aid - http://thenigeriaforum.com/forum/index.php?topic=125.0 Unnatural Disasters - http://thenigeriaforum.com/forum/index.php?topic=115.0 |
Go back to the beginning of the thread, read it again up to the point you posted your comments and come back here to repeat the statement you have just made about people turning the thread into US bashing. US cannot be the cause of every evil in the world today and no one has stated that US is the cause of every evil, such simplistic and open ended (even wrong) statements is uncalled for unless you are both the judge and the jury. On third world countries moving forward, I think Chavez is doing the right thing in questioning the US style of spreading democracy. Raising the consciousness of the average person on what is really happening will help. Unfortunately, any country that does not agree with the US becomes an enemy and before you know it plans are underway to fight the person or the nation. |
@Buchi, I am not trying to justify his actions. I am only stating that things would have been a lot better if other governors or even previous governors had awarded themselves contracts and executed same rather than using the funds to buy mansions abroad. In Nigeria today, the bulk of the politicians are bad, so bad that we are even singing praises of things that they are actually paid and mandated to do in the first place. The issue of Chimaroke singing a different song (even if briefly) about 3rd term at the Eastern Governors conference is well recorded, it was neither a rumour nor a joke. What followed after the remarks are equally known in the public domain. He may have tried to gamble which didn't go down well with his "oga". On Anambra wahala, I disagree that Chimaroke is causing the problem there. The people of Anambra should hold their son Chris Uba responsible for agreeing to become a willing tool in the hands of his own god fathers like OBJ (personal opinion sha). Most if not all of our politicians deserve to spend some time in jail for the way and manner they have turned Nigeria into what it is today even when we have all it takes to become a well developed nation full of natural and human resources. |
@TayoD, Why don't you start a thread that will dwell on imperialism and not divert the focus of any thread that contains any negative comment on the US and claiming bashing in the process? @Topic, Still on some of the issues Chavez raised concerning Bush trying to spread democracy with bombs and wars, here is a response from a friend on another forum on the latest intelligence report that tended to suggest that the Iraq war has increased the risk of terror. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ The report only managed to confirm the obvious! The Iraq war was executed based on falsified information, which makes it an immoral war and the muslim world is very aware of that fact and infuriated about it. Secondly, the war stands out as one of the most mismanaged wars of this century with over 40,000 civilians dead and the nation at the brink of a full blown civil war. The Bush administration was too hasty to invade a sovereign nation that they forgot to count the cost of maintaining the peace or figure out an exit strategy. The Abu Ghraib prison and Guantanamo bay prison abuses of suspected terrorists by America personnel has not helped matters either. That more strikes await western nations is only a matter of time, except God intervenes to avert more tragedies. The Bush administration's method of aggression, preemptive attacks, no negotiations with perceived enemies are all anathema to peaceful conflict resolution. One can only pray that his unimpressive regime comes to an end quickly and that a more humane president that will confront the challenges that face the world today with wisdom and a deep sense of equity will be elected. Bottom line, Bush is viewed as a major threat to world peace in practically every part of the world today. Already, the white house is disputing the findings of the report as usual. These extreme right wingers are simply incapable of rational reasoning when they are bent on a arbitrary line of action. The muslim terrorists believe the US and its allies are only after controlling Mideast oil and dominating the world with their parochial version of democracy. Such perception can only lead to dire consequences effected by frustrated individuals who will use any means available to register their disapproval, unfortunately. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ |
Politicians are usually not really interested in working for the masses so opposition may as well be an avenue to seek and taste power. Do we have any country or any form of governance where you don't have opposition? I think the answer is surely in the negative. Chimaroke sure has questions to answer as regards handling political oppositions but one cannot take away from this man his tremendous achievements in the area of infrastructual development in the state. Even one EU survey carried out in all the states of the federation (except Bayelsa) rated him the best in terms of real development. If all the governors made money by awarding contracts to their companies and indeed carrying out the jobs to the letter, things would have improved not just stashing funds in foreign accounts while complaining about lack of funds to the people whose money are being stolen. |
@Rhea, I agree with you that the devil part was not necessary even though Bush had earlier (even till today) label countries as being part of an axis of evil. How can one justify such statements even when some acts that people object to most times are carried out by a few people? Bush has brought more problems than solutions since he came in and that he is the president of the US is bad news, afterall the strangle hold of the US especially in world affairs today is waning, thanks to his many blunders. If not for his careless and outright lies leading to the illegal invasion of Iraq, the Iranian issue would have been easier to tackle. Still on double standards, even though I do not like the Iranian president's remarks about wiping Israel off the map, I somehow support his quest to get nuclear weapons (not just nuclear technology) because one cannot understand a world where countries like Israel, India and Pakistan all refused to sign the NPT and are allowed to produce nuclear weapons everyday without any wahala and countries like the US that is a signatory to the NPT that is continously developing these nuclear weapons and threatening war on countries that don't take instructions from them while other countries are told not to develop them. It is either the world moves towards eradicating all nuclear arsenals or they allow those that want to develop them do so since becoming nuclear weapons capable is all it takes to get respect in a crazy world where might seems to be right as if we are all in a jungle. @TayoD, If you are not aware of any foreign policies of the US that is fuelling the growing hatred towards it then I see no point in discussing issues with you. Common sense teaches that the best way to change a person is to dwell on their good points while changing our own habits and behavior for the better. I believe same can be said of a nation. The quote above by you clearly shows why you find it difficult to see any bad thing the US does. Need I say more? |
@TayoD, On the contrary, I am the type that will always accept responsibilities of my actions whether right or wrong. That was why I admitted I went personal, I cannot be like you that will attempt to defend the indefensible. You make me sick with your US trying to maintain or sustain world economy, what do you know about world economy? As regards wanting to go to the US or embassy, you must realise that there are people that do not value what you think is the ultimate - a visit to the US and the next thing is 'our country", "our president" etc. I stated that education does not equal knowledge because I believe that you are an educated Nigerian but the level of discussions especially the way you draw inferences from certain premises really shows you are far from basic understanding of issues even in your own backyard. The US is being tasked on its wrong policies. That the US does a few good things does not warrant it to do a lot bad to other nations. That you find it difficult to understand that people can praise the US for the good and condemn it for the bad is not surprising because to you, any complain about the US policy is wrong and it is a shame. I have quite a number of business interests in the US and a lot of friends and relations, so I cannot possibly hate the US even when I have interests there. What I hate is the hypocrisy which funny enough you hardly know anything about. The double standards is another problem leading to increased level of insecurity, again you don't understand this. As to my not reading the links you posted, I guess the response by Nutter should have opened your eyes and mind to issues based on facts and not make believe. Honestly, you write like a totally brainwashed person, believing anything you hear as long as it's from the US. I would be happier reading your posts with a non Nigerian name because some people may wronglly assume that the average Nigerian thinks the way you do. |
In terms of infrastructural development Chimaraoke remains one of the best governors in Nigeria today. He has his short comings no doubt especially in tolerating political opponents. At least he does not siphon money abroad, most of the contracts are being executed by his companies and making money that way is far better than not doing anything and constantly moving money from one account to another. People should stick to what they know about issues. Someone wrote a petition concerning LG funds that the governor was accused of keeping for the state projects instead of giving them to the LG ogas. The man embarked on very massive projects and has been using LG funds to run some of them. The EFCC did not let him off the hook because Aso Rosk directed as erronously stated. The real reason for the case being dropped unfortunately cannot be discussed on a forum like this but the involvement of Aso Rock is completely flat wrong and misleading. We must also remember that the EFCC probe then was on immediately after the governor hosted an Eastern Governors conference and spoke against the 3rd term issue which was basically against the interest of Aso Rock so I don't know why Aso Rock will be eager to help someone that was opposing a major project being carried out by the powers that be. |
@TayoD, are all you deserve. Education truly does not equal knowledge. On attacking personalities, yes this time around I couldn't help it so I had to go personal because your style can make one throw up. Seems you can effortlessly sell your birthright for some basic amenities. Do the forum a favour, stop diverting attantions to other things when issues are brought up. |
Use FlashFXP. Google it and download it, it works just fine. |
Toshman, I agree with you that some people have conveniently shifted the focus to Chavez instead of the issues he raised. TayoD, It is funny how you ask for proof whenever the US is accused of anything even if obvious and at the same time you will make sometimes completely baseless statements and pass them off as facts. The day you replied that the republicans that opposed Bush in the Article 3 of the Geneva Convention did so because they wanted to covert the bystanders because it was election time was the day I stopped taking your posts serious. You are an unrepented and blind supporter of the US regardless of the issues on ground. Talk about Iraq today and you will bring a whole lot of useless justifications, you may do well by contributing to jokes and rumours setcions and allow people to discuss real issues without the unnecessary distractions. A thread came up to discuss issues raised and you turned it to US bashing, this is disgusting!!! |
Bush has no business in governance and he is responsible for the increase in hatred against the West especially the US based on his hypocrisies and double standards. We need more courageous leaders like Chavez and the president of Iran even though I disagree with him on the destruction of Israel. Funny enough, a free and fair democracy brought the Hamas government into power and yet the West does not like that type of democracy, a democracy that does not take instructions from the white house or 10 downing street. |
davidylan:Over 26,000 deaths recorded in Iraq this year, about 6,000 between July and August. These deaths would not have occured had the US not invaded Iraq based on a pack of lies and turned the people against one another. Saddam remains a Sunni (minority in Iraq) but supported by the West especially the US because he believed in secularism as against the Shiites that wanted a full islamic state. The US invaded Iraq, and handed Saddam to the Shiites, his "enemies". The US soldiers have killed and raped innocent Iraqi women and girls before, this is no news. Why did the US arm Saddam even with chemical weapons which he freely used in the Iraq-Iran war and the Kurds (within Iraq) without any condemnation whatsoever from the US? Until we begin to question the moral authority of the US based on its hypocrisy and double standards we may be encouraging the fuelling of the crisis in the middle east without knowing. |
The onus lies on you to explain to your audience why you think communism was evil. I would have done the explanation if I had made the statement. Thanks for your time. I am cool with your responses thus far, not surprising at all. I only hope that you get to understand that things are not bad just because some people say so. Only when you can demonstrate the validity or otherwise of a statement or position can you boldly take a stand on it. Do have a great day. |
Pearl2, Thanks for the sympathy. Meanwhile, the space and energy expended in dodging the question seem more than enough for anyone that understands communism to highlight the evil it represents. Talking about purges, I guess you may have started playing about with google or wikipedia. No need for spreading the dragnet, explain yourself or let it pass. It is becoming common these days for people to make statements they know nothing about and you are just one more statistic my dear to the already growing number. Enjoy. |
Pearl2, So you are very much aware that the thread is abour pope and muslim and you intorduced communism? I am not discussing Hitler here. Did Stalin murder his people because they opposed or supported communism or for some other reasons? Limit your discussions to what you understand in future. If the number of deaths caused by what a particular country is based on any idealogy then communism (assuming the ideology itself causes deaths) may have fared better than whatever ideology that the West (for want of a better way to put it) practices. But if you don't have any reasonable information on this, just let it pass but don't delve into unfamiliar terrains next time just because you are making use of a discussion forum. |
Pearl2, You would have been able to explain what was wrong with communism even with the seven lines of response you posted. Just go straight to the point and tell me (and maybe others that want to know) what was wrong with communism. If you do not know what was wrong, please say so and lets move on. I don't know why people make statements that they don't have sound understanding of. So, what was wrong with communism? I am not asking about Stalin as I have read a lot of books about him over 18 years ago so I am clear on who the man was. Something new please. |
Pearl2, What was wrong with communism? Please, enlighten me. |
Havila:Havila, You don't sound like someone who is interested in intellectual discussions. With all the name calling to the poster you refered to above, I wonder what room you left for intellectual discussions based on his/her position. First, you need to explain why you believe that your views are superior or better than the poster's. The issue of multiple sexual partners you raised, do we have any society where people do not have multiple sexual partners regardless of what people would rather have us believe? |
@Davidylan, I typed iran war with iraq on google and even the site you referenced came up. I think the results have a lot of information on who the US supported during the war. Take time to read through some of them as I find it difficult arguing such a clear cut issue. Enjoy |
davidylan:@Davidylan, I refuse to believe that you believe that the US backed Iran during the 8 years of war between Iraq and Iran. Googling for information may not be good after all. The islamic revolution came around 1979 which even resulted in US citizens being taken hostage. Does anyone really need to use the search engine to get information as regards the country that the US backed during the war? Yo can do better than this man! |
@TayoD, I have seen the links posted. Hovering about 40% still does not amount to very high rating to me sha.was based on this Bush is rated very highly with regards to defending America from terrorism. That is an indisputable fact. The killing of the nun is wrong and unfortunate. I will not want to go into labelling a religion bad or good. I can comfortably discuss specific actions of people but the religion itself or the symbol/ideology behind a religion? Not me. We may be going round in circles here because not all moslems are "terrorists" unless you are saying that those moslems that are not "terrorist" are not good moslems. I hear it is against the law for a man to marry more than one wife in Tunisia yet in some countries it is ok to marry up to 4 wives. These are issues that are fundamental to people and though we may not agree with them, we are bound to respect them. |
