have you ever herad of the war on terror? Again, only a rhetorical questions is good enough for you here.
Yes, I have heard of it. That was a popular phrase being used by Bush to refer to what he thinks is a war.

That Bush used that phrase doesn't make it have any meaning just as a lot of lies he told the world before invading Iraq amounted to nothing but a senseless lies by a clueless, blood thirsty and confused US president.

So, what Bush thinks is now your foundation for debate? Wonderful.

Just for the sake of argument if you believe that the war on terror justified the response by Bush and the gang then you should be ok with Ahmedinejad's response as regards "War on Western Imperialism".
Foreign AffairsRe: Obama And The Iranian Crisis: by Afam(m): 2:19pm On Jun 23, 2009
Tayo-D:
@Afam,
The folly of a question can be revealed in two ways.  The first is to ask a rhetorical question that will make the questioner to think through his question as he obviously did not do so the first time.  The second way is to answer the question in such a ridiculous way that the questioner will be embarassed by his question.  I have chosen the former.

So once again, my response will be the same rhetorical question: "So is Iraq and Afghanistan less democratic than they were under Saddam and the Taliban?"
Why do you like being wrong?

Where did you get the idea that the folly of a question can be revealed in 2 ways? Why 2? Why not 3?

You can ignore a question to reveal the folly inherent in it. This is another choice and this makes the total number of choices 3 and not 2.

I decided to respond this way so that you realize that though you think you are usually right that in reality most of the time you are dead wrong but way too blind to see it.

The correctness or otherwise of any issue is not at all dependent of your acceptance of a position.

Repeat this line 3 times every night before you sleep and in 2 years you will become a better debater.

Enjoy the rest of the week.

Afam

you're a man.

let it go.

Unless you're lying about your gender.

With the way you're presenting yourself, if you get wife or girlfriend for house, it wont be long before you turn her into a punching bag after much disagreement.
Is there no limit to your preference to irrelevant stuff?

Are you looking for a boyfriend or husband that you are bothered about how Afam treats a girlfriend or wife?

I don't beat women because I warn them enough for them to understand that their excesses would not be tolerated under the guise that they are women. Of course disagreements are usually settled based on logic, facts and common sense and trust me it is much easier than you may think to do.

The result? I surround myself with honest, credible and intelligent women that believe that women should not be seen as people that are just good enough for quarrels, unnecessary argument etc.

I never stated anything about you as a person on this forum before you started with your wild and false accusations without any proof or evidence.

I thought I let this go a long time (as regards this topic) until you brought it up after some weeks or so and decided to make Afam your main point.

So, take your advice.

Ask around and you will find out that I never resort to personal attacks while disagreeing with people but I always respond to posts in kind and on time too.

Enjoy! You will earn my respect the moment you stop abusing people that disagree with you and more importantly the moment you find the courage to realize and accept your mistakes whenever you make them. Justifying them won't do.

Afam- you say you're a man.

Stop arguing like a woman.
Why are you always wrong?

I have seen a lot of intelligent women that engage in intellectual discussions.

Now, these women never believe that women are only known for argument. In fact they take offense when anyone tries to imply that women argue a lot.

Bottom line is that you have no excuse in the world to be arguing blinding thinking that people will understand simply because you are a woman.

If other women can think in a logical manner, agree or disagree with others based on logic, facts and common sense then it means that you can do so if you so wish.

Stop making excuses for your short comings, deal with them and more importantly learn to agree or disagree with people without insulting them.

On this topic proper, all but one poster attempted to support your position.

Many have made it crystal clear that you are very very wrong and you are here trying to divert attention to other issues.

Enjoy the rest of the week and I hope you become a better debater.

1. Who the hell is Brown to tell Zimbabwe when Britain wants to see a new constitution?

2. Mugabe successfully fought the Western interference and support of the opposition leader for the benefit of the whole country.

The extent you go do defend anything US or Israel in spite of the facts on ground is becoming embarrassing.

This is highly disappointing coming from an educated person. You could just ignore the faults of your loved countries but to defend those faults even when the countries themselves have admitted to wrong doing is funny.

Better than turning to crime for food.

Problem with some developers is that rather than look for business model to turn into software they keep waiting for prospective clients to come up with ideas.

Why wait for projects when you have the skills and can use it to develop any application that will fetch you money?

I do not put the sins of any individual on any religion, I just condemn a religion's refusal to condemn violence within its midst

when will a world renowned Muslim cleric or leader condemn Al-qaeda and its followers huh

Can you endorse the fact that Al-qaeda are a terrorist organisation that should have no place in any religion? (My guess is that in your next four post you will be unable to condemn al-qaeda)
Is Al-qaeda part of Islam?

Is Al-qaeda the same thing is Islam?

What defines a terrorist organisation?

How different is Al-qaeda from the state sponsored killed of innocent people like the US or Israel in areas they choose to use their forces in?

One man's terrorist may just be another's freedom fighter.

If Islam does not make any reference to Al-qaeda then it will amount to word play when we try to equate or even compare Al-qaeda to Islam.

Would anyone condemning Al-qaeda change the reason for the existence of such groups and movements?

We must understand that injustices, maiming and killing of innocent ones etc have been used as excuses for people to set up organisations while playing the religion game like we see in Nigeria where the elite would rather use religion to divide Nigerians instead of addressing the issues like hunger, deprivation and injustices.

Has Al-qaeda done anything worse than what the US did in Iraq - waged a war against a sovereign nation based on lies and today a lot of innocent children, men and woman have been sent to their graves.

We must begin to address injustices for what they are and stop bringing in religion into anything because religion can be used as a tool to control people, seek for support, draw empathy etc.

We do not need to wait for any particular newspaper to carry the story because media houses can be settled and it will be easy for the governor to set aside the whole N250M to kill this story considering what is at stake.

Why all the contradictory comments by the governor's media aide?

Science/TechnologyRe: Inverter And Solar Panel Solution To Nigeria Electricity Failure by Afam(m): 12:12pm On Jun 22, 2009
Thanks for your contribution.

While I agree that some of your comments and advice made sense I think I disagree with the following comments as they would more than likely lead to misinformation and perhaps confusion.

iukpe:
The costs usually displayed by dealers in most cases are of the inverter alone. You will have to worry about isolated electrical lines if you want to have a fixed load not variable load on your inverter. The right kind of batteries (Deep cycle) and reasonable battery tank if you want to worry about extended hours of running, and this is usually not supported by the built in chargers in the inverter as they might be designed to charge at most 2 batteries in about 4 to 6hrs.
Proper design of any backup application will take care of the appropriate charging algorithm for the battery bank. Only mass produced inverters with built in chargers have these problems as any inverter builder can build the charge to handle the battery bank.

iukpe:
Actually inverters are more economical in the long term if you inverst in about a 5kva or 10 to 20kva inverter, solar panels and a sizey battery tank
. Periodic maintenance will be a total replacement of your battery tank in say 2yrs or so when your runtime reduces significantly and this is usually cheaper then the cost of petrol or diesel for an equivalent generator capacity, in the same period.
You don't need 5KVA or 10 KVA to 20KVA for you to enjoy inverter backup systems. Solar panels must not be used either. Good deep cycle batteries can last for 5 years or more. At about N54,000.00 per 12V 200Ah deep cycle battery I do not think that replacing them every 2 years make sense as you will have to factor in the cost of disposal, purchases and installation each time you do that and these also cost money.

I have not used a generator in my office for over 5 years here in Lagos and I use 1.5KVA inverter. The last set of batteries I bought has seen over 2 years now and no drop in performance. Even though the state of power supply has really gone down in the last few months I still believe that a properly designed backup system would provide reasonable backup for most homes in Nigeria.

iukpe:
But trust me the cost will exceed N600,000.00 if you want it to make sense. No monthly servicing, no noise, no frequent trips to filling stations is what you will enjoy.
N600,000.00 seems high for the average Nigerian or even the average Nigerian that would want to embrace inverter backup. I have clients that don't mind spending more than N1M but these clients are very far in between.

N150,000.00 to under N400,000.00 is typical and with a good energy efficiency program you can see backup up to 2 days.

iukpe:
I will advise anyone willing to go into inverters as an option as a consumer to review options very well before starting to spend money. I will also advise that you build you battery tank in batches so you also replace them in batches this will reduce your periodic cost.
As stated earlier a good set of deep cycle batteries should last for up to 5 years before talking about replacements and this is based on proper battery bank sizing.

Many thanks for your time.

The content in bold refers, when objective comments like these come to the fore you begin to see the likes of ElRazur and Tunku insulting others simply because they lack the capacity to think in a logical manner.

Obama may choose to support any of the parties involved as long as he understands the consequences.

I will always draw a parallel with Mugabe in Zimbabwe when the West claimed that he rigged the election and even old men threatened to join the army to defend Zimbabwe from the opposition leader and his Western backers.

How can a "dictator" like Mugabe allow an opposition leader to get more than 40% of the votes when it was reported that he rigged the election and shut out international media etc?

I guess a lot of people talking about rigging the election here know very little about Saddam's style where well over 90% of the votes usually go to him in elections.

Those who find it supremely difficult to tolerate views that are not original to them will always find enough time on a public forum to self destruct and embarrass themselves to the extent that their over bloated egos would make them look and act stupid.

The overiding issue is this: "Is a military apparatus an  indispensable part of a nation"? The answer is obviously negative 'cos we have many countries today without a standing military. Isreal has every reason to be sceptical about a Palestinian military when the governing coalition does not believe in the right of Isreal to exist.  Isreal unilaterally withdrew from Gaza and the territor became a rocket launching station against Isreal. Isreal will be stupid to not protect themselves against such in the future.
1. The decision to own an army should be left to the Palestinian people not Israel.

2. Israel has a right to be skeptical about a Palestinian Army just as Palestine has every right not to trust Israel with a demilitarized Palestine.

3. Unilateral withdrawal of Israel from seized lands is pure nonsense because this is akin to saying that an armed robber returned one of the 2 TVs he stole from you and expected kisses and cheers.

4. Yes, Israel has every right to protect itself just as every other country or nation or people including the people of Palestine.

You have no right to advice anyone on how to behave on discussions and debates because you are just like Tunku who will easily resort to insulting people when there are differences of opinions.

I have never and will never insult anyone simply for disagreeing with me and I will always respond to insults in kind when people who cannot disagree with others cannot finish a sentence without insulting another.

So, I guess it will make more sense for you to follow your advice.

Personally, over the years I have come to realize that those who resort to insults in debates are usually those who cannot support their positions based on logic, facts and common sense and as such would want to divert attention to other issues.

Stick to the issues raised and learn to respect yourself and then other people you interact with in life. You do not become more knowledgeable by insulting anyone that disagrees with you.

Do you know the problems between the Arabs and the Persians?

I am not here to defend Iran considering the fact that the truth may evade all of us since none of us is there and demonstrations can be staged, externally funded and supported.

We saw similar thing in Zimbabwe and today where is the opposition leader? Right there working with Mugabe.

So, the West for obvious reasons would want Ahmedinejad out, Israel would love that too, a lot Arab people would hope for that and even the younger generation in Iran who want to see some of the strict rules guiding them relaxed.

However, what I have put down above does not in any way prove that the election was rigged and that is my point.
