Kobojunkie:
FACTS ON GROUND OVER TWO YEARS AGO
Over two years ago would come to earlier than May 29th 2007 and this is a lie because Yar'adua was sworn in as president of Nigeria exactly 2 years ago today.

The article in question was written before the presidential election that brought Yar'adua to power.

This thread was based on the happenings after Yar'adua become president not before.

Trying to mislead or twist issues that are clear while a stock in trade for some of us here must be condemned in its entirety as it does not do us any good at all as a people with common problems.

On the correctness of some of the content in the article

1. The piece claimed unaudited accounts where as it was well reported that Yar'adua recorded a budget surplus of over N6B in his state when other governors were looting funds and borrowing more.

2. Was Buhari ever popular to challenge Yar'adua even in Katsina state let alone at the national level?

We must do our best to figure out the motive of a news article especially if one is actually reads like a campaign release but is being see as factual information just as the poster has wrongly assumed and even introduced his own version of time frame - over 2 years ago.

It is always good people think before they utter anything.Afam are you still holding this same view of yaradua today?
On holding the same view about Yar'adua

No, I don't. In fact I believe OBJ's greatest mistake was bringing him to power.

However, as at the time I wrote what I wrote he was the better candidate (when compared to others that wanted to become president of Nigeria) and made promises that every single well meaning Nigeria would want actualized. Do I have any regrets making the statement then? No, considering the facts on ground then.

On your comment on people thinking before uttering anything

I guess only fools would make that type of statement because there was nothing wrong in the statement itself and if it took you close to 2 years to make the statement then it means that the statement you are referring to now made a lot of sense then.

You should of course learn to address issues squarely without resorting to insulting remarks as some of us would always respond to insults in kind and on time too.

Please reason beyond your cult worship. I never alluded thay Gov. Odili was clean, what i quarrel with was why Ribadu was using corruption as a blackmailing tool. For your information, the court did not stop Ribadu from disqualifying Odili through his corruption advisory list (which contained names of some people we were not aware were under investigation),before he was told by the court that he cannot do that.
What of Odili's replacement, can you exonerate Goodluck  Jonathan from Alams crimes. Jonathan's wife was found trying to lodge large sums of cash in a bank during the husbands tenure. What happened?. I am sure if the target had been Goodluck, Ribadu would have also blackmailed him into submission. My take is that all of them are robbers, but Ribadu made some robbers more equal than others.
Guy, your level of reasoning is shocking, I must have overrated your thought process to have bothered to respond to your many nonsense comments on this topic.

My take is that all of them are robbers, but Ribadu made some robbers more equal than others.
How can a human being that makes the statement above turn around and blame Ribadu for going after a corrupt leader? Learn to engage your brain before putting your hands in gear.

You are clearly confused and obviously chasing shadows as the facts have been made available for all well meaning Nigerians to see.

Understand one thing, I am not here to convince you or anyone for that matter. What I owe the forum is to provide information based on facts, logic and common sense and then all the readers to make up their minds.

Enjoy the weekend ahead, admit your mistakes and probably come back next week to air your views based on facts and truth.
PoliticsRe: Mrs Farida On Channels - Indicts Nuru Ribadu by Afam(m): 8:45am On May 28, 2009
Why would Odili give up his dream or aspiration just like that if he was not corrupt?

Can you blackmail an innocent man?

Ribadu may have the listening ear of OBJ because Ribadu heads an important agency (EFCC) under that administration.

How these irrelevant issues and diversions are brought up to discredit a man that stood up to the powerful corrupt Nigerians beats my imagination silly.

If Odili felt he needed to run then he did not need to chicken out unless of course he had something to hide.

EFCC was after Odili but Odili got a court order forbidding anyone to try him and the last time I checked EFCC does not control the courts in Nigeria.

Enough of the diversions and misinformation abeg.

Or are you implying that that Nigerian looters steal and transfer money using their names?
I guess you are confused right now.

I believe you were the person that brought in FBI into this topic and my comment concerning FBI was meant to inform you that the inability of FBI to do something right the easy way does not then mean that the EFCC cannot do things the right way. This is just Wednesday.

Maybe you are one of those that believe that Nigerians cannot do anything that foreigners have not attempted or done.

Afam,

I think you have taken a position and want to defend that position irrespective of contradictions within that position. Like is done with religion.
Can you please point out the contradictions?

wirinet:
Tracing international funds transfer is a very difficult science, you need powerful computers and sophisticated software and skilled programmers. Even today FBI is having a difficult time tracing fund transfers of terrorist organizations like Al-quaida, which they use to fund their oversee operations. This is because money can be transferred between different account and countries before it is withdrawn in a country with weak banking regulation like Caymans Island. The money trail can became almost untraceable.

I am not a supporter of Mrs Farida as I  feel she has a lot of skeletons in her cupboard (all police personel do). What I am saying is Ribadu was not fighting corruption, but was grandstanding. His being personally corrupt, i cannot say. But he was knee deep in the corruption machinery.
The content in bold refers, I disagree with the very difficult science part because it is not.

Being able to monitor and/or trace large sums of money is one thing, being able to tie them to individuals or groups is yet another. That the FBI is having problems tracing funds to people fronting for the likes of Al qaeda does not make the process a difficult science.

It is either you are economical with the truth or you do not know how the EFCC operates. EFCC acts on petitions from the public ( political opponents, Media Reports, Civil societies, and even some Judases). EFCC do not have the skills and resources to trace funds round the globe(financial forensic experts). It is even difficult for countries with the necessary tools like US and Britain.

If as you claim that Ribadu is a good financial forensic expert, why was Gov Tinubu(an avid enemy of Ribadu's oga) able to disgrace Ribadu, despite whistle blowers in his cabinet.   What about all other Governors like Nnamani,  Yerima, Akala etc, was he able to trace their loot.

This Ribadu cult is gaining notoriety for spreading falsehood.
It is obvious you are completely ignorant of what you are talking about.

EFCC has a mandate to monitor, question or stop any movement of funds especially when there is a reason to do so.

What exactly are the tools you refer to? Name them and we will know if such tools are not readily available to trace cash/cheque deposits in financial institutions.

It is a pity but you need to learn more on issues like this so as to avoid ridiculing yourself on a public forum.

I have never met Ribadu, do not intend to meet him forever but as long as the issue concerns Nigeria and Nigerians (and I am one living in Nigeria) I will do my best to tackle some of the lies and misinformation that people like you have been spreading for so long.

If Nigeria is bad, we well feel the pain.

If Nigeria is good, we will always enjoy.

So we must do away with unnecessary and dangerous mindsets and sentiments that tend to becloud our senses of reasoning just to support our positions regardless of the facts on ground.

Do have a lovely day.

NB: My personal opinion anyway is that the bulk of those claiming Ribadu is bad may have been criminals that the man stopped or frustrated in their criminal acts just as armed robbers would not be happy with police officers that are doing their best to rid the area of armed robbers. Strictly personal opinion.
PoliticsRe: Mrs Farida On Channels - Indicts Nuru Ribadu by Afam(m): 10:53am On May 27, 2009
Ridabu traced looted funds from all corners of Nigeria regardless of the position of the looter.

If the present chair of EFCC cannot trace the money she claims she is looking for then she has no business being in EFCC because Ribadu simply traced looted funds and proceeded to try the looters. He did not go to Channels TV to ask looters to come and show him where they kept the looted funds.

I guess we have gotten used to lies, rumors and misinformation in this country to the extent that insistence on facts, logic and common sense is now becoming an impossible proposition.

The irony of it all is that the person who may be missing the point would be the first to accuse others of doing just that.

Lets us not get carried away by sentiments on this issue, nobody can dispute the fact that ribadu did a very good job at the EFCC at least he succeeded in putting the fear of GOD into many corrupt leaders and even had the courage to go after some big fishes, for this he will always be rememebered no matter what.
My point exactly. We have seen people continually water down or dismiss any good thing he did while in office. No doubt, he made some mistakes but his positives far outweigh his mistakes and that is what matters.

richard10:
SELECTIVE JUSTICE IS EQUAL TO INJUSTICE
I beg to disagree here.

There is no where in the world where anyone can fight every corrupt person because it will not work.

Ribadu was removed because those that he investigated had connections and made good their threats to remove him when his backer (OBJ) left office.

What this means is that the president has the ultimate power as regards who gets removed so it would not make sense for Ribadu to have arrested or jailed OBJ (as that is the most repeated reference to his selective justice) while in power.

If you fight corruption, corruption fights back and things could get nasty, lives could be lost especially when the money involved is running into billions.

So, Ridadu needed a base to fall back on, he needed the support of OBJ who setup the commission in the first place and it would amount to gross stupidity for Ribadu to focus on OBJ and his friends when in reality there are a lot of corrupt Nigerians that are either real or perceived enemies of OBJ around (assuming all the people he investigated or arrested were OBJ's enemies that is).

I would not jail my own friends and relations just to be seen as being good when my enemies are guilty of the same offense. It does not make sense and we should not pretend it does.

Selective fight against corruption is 100% better than no fight at all.

Fraudsters took off from Nigeria. Corrupt Nigerians hid their monies (instead of flaunting them) while others relocated. Things were changing. Those powerful enough to be labeled untouchables were touched, investigated, jailed etc.

In spite of the short comings of Ridabu he remains the only Nigerian (of course with his team at the EFCC) that has risked his life the most to tackle the issue of corruption in the country.

This is a fact and facts don't lie.

Even Buhari and Idiagbon were in the executive arm of government and they were not responsible for enforcing WAI.

So, Buhari and Idiagbon's position could be compared to OBJ's position in tackling corruption.

But it was Ribadu the young fearless police officer that made us realize that indeed you can tackle corruption if we are ready to do so.

To deny this man his place in the history of this country would amount to a great injustice.
PoliticsRe: CBN: S’East Rallies Support For Soludo by Afam(m): 7:40am On May 27, 2009
Why should the SE rally for Soludo?

Yar'adua may re-appoint or not re-appoint Soludo as long as the constitution is adhered to especially as regards the Federal Character part.

Having all the major controllers in the financial sector come from a single state in a country where federal character is practiced is wrong and may come with consequences that the architects may never have envisaged.
PoliticsRe: CBN Gov: Senator Writes Yar’adua Over Appointment by Afam(m): 7:35am On May 27, 2009
The Senator is 100% correct in his letter.

Guys, we need to understand that formal education does not equal intelligence so Kobojunkie must be forgiven for making yet another clueless and useless statement based on complete ignorance on the issue at hand.

Nigeria is a multi ethnic, multi-tribal, multi-religious country and for the interest of peace and unity certain things have been included in the constitution to safeguard the different groups that make up Nigeria.

Is power rotation democratic? No.

Is it the best we can get for now? Yes.

Wars have been fought based on perceived or real injustices and marginalization. There are countries still at war with some parts of the countries today based on things like these.

Must we fight another in Nigeria? (Even militants in the ND are engaging the NA as we discuss this based on injustices and neglect).

So, we need to understand the issue on ground before making sometimes careless statements based on gross ignorance.

Having a formal education is one thing, using the brain to think properly is entirely a different kettle of fish.

@afam what is your point ?are you saying people who express anything contary to you are fools?sometimes i just wonder the way we reason in nigeria, when people dont agree with our point of views we resort to labelling them with negative terms,in democracy there is freedom of speech not because we want but its there to safeguard the society.
some people felt ribadu did a good job while some othersfeels that he was partial in his duties, end of story.for you to now to conclude that those who say he was partial will be criminals when they get to power is to say the least very sad
My point is that we should learn to agree or disagree based on facts, logic and common sense.

Power is nothing without control so freedom of speech where people come up and begin to spread and sustain lies and misinformation all in the name of debate is wrong.

Wars have been fought based on lies, innocent people have been killed or maimed based on lies.

Having contrary opinion on anything based on facts or logic is fine but having contrary opinion based on lies, manufacturing of misleading information and total falsehood is not fine and should be condemned by all decent Nigerians.

So, I will prefer the present crop of corrupt leaders in Nigeria to have another 50 years or so in power because the level of reasoning even by the young educated Nigerians today is a complete embarrassment and would lead to chaos and total disorder if they are given opportunity to lead.

Tribal, ethnic, racial profiling and disdain for opinions that are not original to them, the I know it all attitude and preference for lies and falsehood over truth, facts and common sense are some of the qualities they want to bring to the tabe today and this will only mean one thing - disaster.

A typical young educated Nigerian would rather go to war than accept a simple mistake because he/she usually believes that he/she is perfect and is above mistakes.

Enjoy the holiday.

1. The present generation of Nigerians (going by what they support and how they arrive at conclusions) in my opinion would be worse that the current crop of corrupt leaders we have in Nigeria.

2. Anyone that blames Ribadu for not going after Odili is either mad, ignorant or both because it was EFCC that was chasing him around when he got an order from a Nigerian court that he should not be touched. Same thing Orji Uzo Kalu did some time ago.

3. Anyone that believes that Ridabu did not achieve anything especially as regards chasing, catching, trying and exposing corruption in Nigeria is living in denial and should be thoroughly ashamed of himself or herself.

4. Every nation they say gets the type of leaders it deserves and with the way some of us think I guess it will not take a magician to know that some Nigerians are sycophants and hypocrites.

I guess we have to live with some of these outrageous and unfounded allegations against Ridabu all in the name of freedom of information otherwise some of us here have no business discussing anything outside the type of food we like to eat or whether or not we need to take our baths everyday.

arramyjay:
where u have $email=? use $_POST['email']; so it will send it to the email the client enters on the email field.
I believe there is nothing wrong in the email variables used (for both the sender and receiver).

The client's email has been correctly captured in the $to variable and since he is receiving emails at support@newlifeworld.com it means the form variables are being accessed without problems.

Now, I also believe the poster has 2 issues

1. He needs to send the userid and password to the person that registered

The variables holding userid and password must be part of the message that he is sending. If the userid is the same thing as the $to variable referencing the $_POST['txtemail'] then he has all the information he needs to pass along. Thus far, the password does not appear anywhere in the message variabe let alone whatever is holding the entered email address.

2. Receiving emails at a particular domain

Well, he needs to tell us that he has entered some email addresses outside his own domain name that he has access to without seeing the emails. If the messages are actually sent then they may end up in SPAM folders depending on the settings in the ISPs area of control.

If the emails are only getting to his own domain then it may mean that the necessary ports that need to be opened are not opened since you can easily send information to your own server (from the same server) without having issues with outgoing ports but would definitely have problems with sending to servers outside your own if the outgoing ports are not opened.

You may need to contact your web hosting guys to sort this out (assuming this problem is related to ports) unless you have access to the server administration tools.

NB: I am assuming the poster is a guy. If negative, sorry, just use she or her where necessary.

A desperate drowning man clutching at anything to remain relevant.

Guy, you have zero credibility.

A simple case of disagreeing with a statement you made out of sheer ignorance and lack of basic knowledge on the issue has turned the topic into something else.

You have bragged about skills and experience and when asked to justify the claim you came up with a ridiculous business website that you have effortlessly claimed to be a project you did 3 years ago when it was clear that the website was far from anything professional. Why defend or give reasons for a poor job if you believed everything was perfect?

@dammydosh,

I didn't even bother to post anything on this topic until this guy made a statement that needed clarification because the statement cannot be true. The objection to the false and misleading claim has resulted to his turning the topic into another thing.

Anyone that uses this part of the forum should be able to challenge statements based on lies and ignorance lest other people reading the posts conclude that members that participate on the forum agree with the lies or that members are as ignorant as the person making the ridiculous claims.

But again what do you expect from a typical Nigerian who finds it supremely difficult to back up any statement when challenged? Diversions, insults, more ridiculous claims etc.

So, I will not be responding to the clown again after sending this because it seems that the only thing keeping him going is the attention he has drawn to himself after displaying his gross stupidity and lack of basic web design knowledge. I am sure you were the person that started bragging and claiming that your skills and experience are great and when asked to show us your work you came out with the nonsense you are now claiming you did as a student 3 years ago. Are you still a student or have you not learned any reasonable thing for the past 3 years to put up a decent and functional site?

So, the onus is on you to prove what you have been bragging about, the issue has never been my boasting of any site I did because I am not the type to brag especially when there are issues to discuss.

So, back to the issue. Your claim that Indians learned everything in the West (US and UK) is 100% wrong, misleading and based on complete ignorance. This was my point of disagreement with you.

Every other thing you have brought up belongs to the trashcan as they are just diversions since you cannot back up your false claim.

Just a few comments

1. This is 2009, you may need to update your copyright notice

2. Your contact page does not have a title (this is web design 101 issue)

3. You may need to provide links to the 5 websites displayed on the portfolio page

4. Contact page has no useful information that any serious minded person would need to know before committing funds for any project as the site owner can easily disappear after collecting money. In fact, serious organizations won't even come near you for projects based on this alone.

Consider the comments above as honest inputs to make you a better website designer.

In conclusion, human beings have a way of believing that whatever they do is better than others and such mindsets sometimes push them to praise themselves to high heavens and in the process dismiss others even when they are deficient in basic skills.

Now that you have showed us what you can do I will respectfully tell you to spend more time on learning web development than on bragging and insulting others.

I have more skills and experience than you can ever dream of, believe me I have checked your site and in my circle you would be laughed out of existence.
I get to read this from people once in a while but in reality people who brag this way have nothing to show. Unless you build the applications and hide them in your cupboard I feel the best way to demonstrate your skills or what you have done is to show it otherwise anyone can come here and claim that the owner of google pays him consultancy fees for the work being done at google.

The likes of google, yahoo, microsoft, youtube etc are available for the world to see. So, show the world what you have done and stop claiming to be an expert who develop applications on pubic discussion forums.

So, you can have all the skills and all the experience in the world the reality is that unless you can apply it where people can see it and use it you are will remain a non starter.

By the way your lame attempt at proving that I insulted you leaves much to be desired.

Why bring in comments from the middle of the exchanges and not at the beginning?

The issue remains how Nigerians can develop software or applications and your statement that the Indians learnt everything from the West (US and UK) remains my major point of disagreement and will remain so because the statement is not only a lie but ridiculous and plain stupid based on total ignorance.

Prove to anyone that the statement is correct, that is all you need to do.

Having Indians go to school in the West does not amount to the ridiculous claim you made that you cannot even defend.

So, I guess the issue in contention is clear but of course if introducing diversions and bringing up insults are your style then continue.

I don't know you and so have no reason to be against you or insult you but like you believe every action deserves a reaction, only this time you are not bold enough to appreciate who started making offensive comments on this thread.

The indians did not start at home they learnt everything in the west (England, U.S), then took their skills back to India and developed the market their.
The quote above from nolongthing prompted my response below

Afam:
The content in bold refers, I disagree with the assertion because you do not have to learn about technology in the West.

Information is everywhere but the problem is that we do not invest in knowledge acquisition, we do not challenge ourselves enough to introduce new things, we are not daring enough to take up challenges that would help expand our knowledge or skill set even when the terrain is new.

Put differently, we should be honest enough to accept responsibility of what we know and what we don't know. We should be ready and willing to learn new things or better ways of doing what we currently know how to do.

The Japanese and the Asians in general are way far ahead in phone technology especially mobile phones when compared to the US but people would generally believe that the US is ahead in this area.

Knowledge is out there for any interested person to grab.

However, there is a world of difference between knowledge acquisition and application of that knowledge.

For example, I see no reason why our computer/software engineers cannot develop very useful software that could be used even in our businesses, schools or hospitals.

I see no reason why a lot of important inverters with poor charging algorithms should be flooding the Nigerian market when we have Electrical/Electronics students graduating from our universities every year.
And the response that came after this was

You are barking up the wrong tree, I merely stated a FACT, no more no less - you wrongly assumed that I said the west is superior and all Nigerians should learn from them.
From experience I have come to realize that those who turn issues to personal attacks do so when they cannot defend their positions based on facts, logic and common sense and hope that diversion from the core issues would hide their ignorance or lack of knowledge on issues they choose to dabble into.

How can any reasonable person state that The indians did not start at home they learnt everything in the west (England, U.S)?

And the person goes on to state that this statement is a fact.

What fact exactly?

The good thing about a public forum is that it will afford you all the time in the world to make a fool of yourself as you cannot be both the judge and the jury at the same time.

So yes, we have all the potential now! we are as good as any nation when it comes to intellect and brains so we need to rise up and use our creativity and talent to overcome our problems. Hope thats clear now grin grin grin grin grin grin grin
Guy, it seems that you are consistently inconsistent. Why speaking from both sides of your mouth now?

Before you turn the issue into a personality issue I will not bother responding to your post if it does not add any value to the issue on board.

Enjoy the weekend.

Sorry oo, it is obvious this is a comprehension limited problem. Take care. I understand how people feel when their positions are genuinely challenged as many of us usually believe that we know it all and have nothing to learn.

Could you please read and understand my post before jumping into conclusions based on misunderstood premises?

Your understanding of my assumption is to say the least wrong.

You have asked a question and answered it yourself, but there is one problem? Your answer is wrong! The indians did not start at home they learnt everything in the west (England, U.S), then took their skills back to India and developed the market their. Infact they are still learning in the west today.

Hi guys,

do you know any group or persons or company who can develop a university portal end-2-end solution for me as fast as possible?
if you do kindly contact me on 08068097693 or email: lexfrosty@ yahoo.com
What is the meaning of end-2-end?

How fast?

Any idea of the available budget?

What features and/or functionalities would be needed?

Managed or unmanaged?

Answers to these questions would help interested people know what they are expecting and/or are expected to deliver.
