The security at the airport can and should search everyone regardless of status after all we are talking about security here. These days armed robbers are not usually recognized by dirty shirts and mean looks. A lot of money have been taken out of this country by the same so called government officials who hide them in their bags and are left untouched under the diplomatic umbrella. Meanwhile, was she traveling as a Minister of federal republic of Nigeria or as a private citizen going for her son's graduation in the US? So, she sends her son to the US for education and talks about being proud of Nigerians and Nigeria and the re-branding project? Anyone defending, promoting and encouraging others to stick to made in Nigeria goods and services while preferring foreign goods and services is a hypocrite to the core. |
wwheelz:Very good. Next time check your facts before making very false allegations against people. tpiah:There is a world of difference between opposing views and lies being told here and there. Debated with you over what? I clearly don't remember unless of course you were using another username at that time. I don't track people who change usernames by the hour. It seems you always have time to respond to some issues but the very important ones like trying to remember how come Dr Ngozi became a Prof don't seem to get the time required to confirm or support your position. This is troubling. |
PapaBrowne:Put differently MEND does not represent the Niger Delta but Delta State, is that correct? If yes, then the name should be MEDS and not MEND and as such should not concern itself with any oil facility anywhere outside Delta State. Then it will be left for Delta State to decide whether MEND/MEDS is representing them or not. IS MEND a tribal, regional or private setup? |
wwheelz:Gender has absolutely nothing to do with discussions on public forums. I have never debated anything under the sun with this tpiah so your claim that the same set of Nairaland men attack her is completely stupid, a lie and a fabrication. Being a woman does not equate to right to insult everyone that disagrees with you. She has used words like vultures to describe people that have not agreed with her and you see nothing wrong in it. It is bloody hypocrites like you that will gladly lead even your friends and relatives astray all in the name of displaying your sycophancy. |
Don't get excited over nothing. You have not been able to defend your position and that is a fact. If I have an agenda other than making a case for Nigerians to be able to face facts and respect them I would make them known. Sometimes, in a bid to win an argument at all cost we destroy whatever credibility we may have had. Truth they say is bitter but is 100% better than falsehood. |
tpiah:Your personal opinion, you are entitled to it, no wahala with this one. tpiah:Nigeria is backward not because of what you stated but because we are too full of ourselves to admit our mistakes or to admit that we are wrong even when it is obvious. tpiah:You may stick with discussing with non Nigerians then. Have a bone to pick on behalf of someone else? What for? I talk straight and I am very blunt and I am certainly not a coward so if I have anything personal against you I would put it down in a very clear manner. Thus far, I cannot remember having any issues with this user ID unless you are someone I have had issues with in the past while using another user ID. Stick to the issues raised and stop seeing people who do not agree with your positions as enemies or as people you must call names. There is no single evidence to prove that Dr Ngozi is a Prof. This is a fact. And again, the onus is not on anyone to prove that she is not. Anyone can post on any public editable site or wiki that Afam Nnaji was state governor in one of the states even in the North. Now, if someone says it is a lie would it make any sense to maintain that people should prove that I have not been a governor of the said state even when all the evidence point to the fact that there is no record of Afam Nnaji ever being inuagurated, sworn in or even contested let alone won a governorship election in Nigeria? We should be bold enough to admit our mistakes. Being wrong is not a crime. |
tpiah:Who claims Wole Soyinka is not a Nigeria? How was the story taken? Does the claimer have any credibility? Now on Dr Ngozi, even her present employer has on its website a detailed biography of the woman and she was severally referred to as Dr and not Prof. This should be enough to prove that she is a Dr and not Prof. If you claim that OBJ is a woman do you expect anyone to come and strip him naked for you to believe he is a man? A fact remains a fact and facts don't lie. Thus far, there is no single evidence pointing to Dr Ngozi being a Prof in this world. Even her own blood brother has said enough for the world to know that Dr Ngozi has a sister that is a Dr and a Prof. Dr Ngozi's sister is not the same as Dr Ngozi. We must learn to tolerate views that we may not even agree with especially when logic and facts are in favor of a position. |
kshow1:She should be able to correct the media instead of doing nothing because if the media calls her an armed robber she would sue those responsible There is no single evidence to suggest that she is a Professor and this is a fact. Unfortunately, it seems that the average Nigerian would rather go to war than accept a mistake as if mistakes now carry the death penalty. Dr and Prof may be used interchangeably just as Mr and Prime Minister could or even Senator and Janitor. |
I have maintained that the present crop of corrupt leaders in this country will fare better than the younger generation of educated Nigerians and the reason is simple - we find it supremely difficult to accept our mistakes when they are pointed out and instead we would rather go to war than say "my mistake". Is Nigerian Army poorly equipped? I don't think so. Is there any room for improvement? Yes, just like every other country in the world. Is Nigerian Army better equipped than US Army? No, in my opinion. Because they produce arms and invest a lot in weaponry, research and development Is Egyptian Army better equipped than Nigerian Army? I don't know and unless someone has hard facts on what the 2 countries have no one can state categorically state that one is better equipped than the other since the 2 countries purchase arms from other nations. Let us learn to agree or disagree on issues without making the issues very impossible to debate. |
tpiah:Hmmmm? Ok, if you have time just read through the articles on the following sites http://www.globalresearch.ca/articles/CHO312B.html http://www.human-nature.com/reason/02/saddam.html |
ElRazur:Saddam ke? I was talking about Osama not Saddam. Meanwhile if you really meant Saddam then I believe it was reported that a relative gave up his location and not any tracking device or mechanism. If you agree that terrorism is not conventional warfare then why are you saying that Nigerian Army cannot tackle the militants in the Niger Delta as if MEND is fighting a regular war? It seems you have something against Nigerian Army that makes you to downplay or dismiss any achievements that they have recorded in the past. This is where I have problems with your position. |
Re-introduce Bakassi and these guys will leave town immediately. We should focus on what works best in any given situation. Trying to appear democratic or trying to copy the West even when the issues are very unique and peculiar to our environment is a waste of time. If Bakassi cannot be called in then the state should invest in reliable cameras that could easily pick up the faces of these guys or allow innocent and law abiding citizens of Nigeria to carry small fire arms since the government cannot prevent the criminals from having them. |
ElRazur:No sir, Osama deliberately left the phone with one of his aides and of course the US tracked the wrong person and ended up killing the wrong person. Well, it seems that Camels and Caves are better off when compared to the sophisticated and money gulping US Army in terms of efficiency then. ElRazur:I know more than enough about mobile phones and GPS, you were the person that brought up the intel as if the US sees every vital information and Nigeria doesn't. ElRazur:Don't go vague here? The time you spent on the response above was more than enough to provide the answer to the question. Let's keep it simple. |
Do you want the FG to empower the South East? A steel plant was supposed to be built in Enugu due to the proximity to coal but after the war they set it up at Ajaokuta and built rail tracks to move coal from Enugu to the present steel complex. The US currently generates about 40% of its electricity from coal fired plants and yet the FG will not allow Enugu state to build plants that could provide steady power supply to people from the region or the country for that matter. It is this type of tribal politics that pisses one off in this Nigeria project. |
mikeansy:So, Obama has not been communicating all these while? Is this authoritative? Maybe he has been using donkeys and birds to communicate with people outside his immediate environment. Again, what happened when foreigners planned and executed the 911 attack on US soil? Was the US Army, CIA, FBI etc on vacation? |
It's been over 1 year since I used this Webmaster's forum last because I found out that the bulk of people making comments here are students or designers that cannot hold there own in the business but would be the first to claim to know everything. Many of them have abandoned web development completely, even some of the most vocal critics are now into real estate business while others have ended up looking for jobs outside web development industry. Why did all these things happen to them? They think that being a good web developer is by blasting others or claiming to understand everything about the web. The truth is that very few understand what works and what doesn't work online and this is one fact that we must learn to live with. Ask the people trying to rubbish the work of another person to show what they have done and they come up with extremely bad design, almost nonexistent functionality and usability put together and when you point this out they begin to give excuses that they are young, still in school or that they developed the website many years ago. That is why many of us will remain the way we are while others keep making money from organizations that know what they want from a web project. Useful websites must be functional to make sense. Websites must be task focused to be useful. No body goes to a website just to look at how beautiful it is, people go online to do things, from finding information to looking for deals or news or to read emails etc. But a typical web designer wrongly believes that web development begins and ends with flash, animation with even elephants saying good morning to you as you enter the website and at the end of the day this type of designer will do more harm than good to the web project itself just because he/she wants to display his/her graphics skills to the detriment of the website owner. There is room for everyone to learn. So, if you want to keep bragging and blasting others no problem. When you abandon web development because you cannot boast of a single client and money is not coming your way just let us know so that we know who to ask when next we want to get a property or an insurance package. This is the reality but of course many of us will prefer to live in denial. With over 100 active domains and at an average of N250,000.00 for new projects I am sure I am doing the right thing when it comes to building task focused and useful websites for the businesses that need to web enable their processes. This is as simple as it can get. Ask for a review and you get personality attacks mostly by people that are just frustrated for not making money in the web development business. One more thing on templates - People talk as if it is wrong to use a template, this is madness. Most (if not all) of the major sites in the world run on templates but again I am assuming that some of those who talk about template don't even understand the meaning of template or that they assume that template must be bought on the web. It would amount to gross stupidity to develop a website with over 1000 unique content like news items or articles or even products from major categories and sub categories without developing yourself (if you can) a template that the rest of the website will depend on so as to maintain uniformity and consistency across all the pages on the website or buying one (for those that cannot develop one). I use templates that are developed from scratch to work on both large sites and smaller ones because it makes sense. www.justalternativepower.com is a website developed using a template I created from scratch for the project. Many of the braggers here would of course tell you that the design is bad but the fact remains that the target audience find the website very useful and from this website alone inverter backup projects running into millions are ordered for almost every week because people who are looking for backup solutions see most of the information they want to see on that website and that is what matters to the business not what some web developer wannabe wants us to believe is the A - Z of web design. People have been using this forum for years yet it is based on a free forum script with probably thousands out there with exactly the same theme. |
bawomolo:Yes and that is because the Nigerian Army is fighting against some militants in a region that is part of Nigeria. bawomolo:Nigeria can achieve that if Iraqi neighbors supported Nigeria and they allowed Nigeria to use their places as bases to launch attacks and more importantly if Nigeria was able to use the United Nations to cripple the Iraqi Army in terms of sanctions on military weapons. Biafra was a war between Nigeria and a section of the country not between Nigeria and a foreign nation. |
texazzpete:The content in bold refers, another discussion with my younger brother on what he knows about this has thrown up shocking information that makes it clear that participants are very carefully selected and a lot has to do with history, antecedents and intelligence with the hope that they will end up doing the bidding of the US. Whatever the reason for setting up that school all the evidence based on the products of that school shows that the school is doing far more harm than any good it promises. texazzpete:If it is not SITP then I am all ears because I knew when you came on board on the general forum. Enjoy the rest of the week. |
ElRazur:1. Foreigners came into the US planned and executed the 911 attack and hijacking 4 planes in the process. Why didn't the almighty US Army stop them? 2. Sierra Leone, Liberia, Equitorial Guinea are countries in Africa that Nigeria has successfully restored order to even after very brutal civil wars.\ 3. The US with all the intel has not been able to take out Osama Bin Laden neither has it been able to disable all the insurgents attacking its forces and killing them in Iraq and Afghanistan. Please, stop rubbishing Nigerian Army because the facts on the ground show that they can hold there own both within and outside Nigeria. |
becomrich,:What brand of grass have you been smoking? What really goes on in your head? |
agabaI23:Seems that the story on Kabila may not be true after all based on the reproduced post below. I have not been able to cross check any of the information made available other than the simple fact that the school does not promote any positive thing and as someone who had his father sent there (31 years ago as a Major in the Nigerian Army) you can understand why this story is more than a story to me. texazzpete:Thanks for pointing out some of the inconsistencies in the writer's piece as it is now clear that though he has some concrete information some of the things he put down don't add up. I am extremely very happy that this story came out as I am beginning to understand some things I never bothered to figure out maybe for the interest of all the parties involved in the case of my father. Knowing what I know now I believe I now understand why he was treated as hero and has remained someone whose name continues to ring a bell in the Defence HQs. I only wish more information can come out in the open. On the school proper It is clear that this school does not serve any useful purpose for the US even though it is situated there unless of course it is used to train military officers that will help do the bidding of the US in their respective countries as it is very clear that most (if not all) of the students are drawn from foreign nations, trained in US soil and these officers turn out to be extremely bad people in their own respective countries. Put differently, I have this believe that the US can and will support (financial, technical etc) any willing participant to take over the government of his country and in return would grant access to the US whatever the country can offer in return from contracts to crude oil. Why would the tax payers in the US use their money to fund this type of school when there is no clear benefit to the US? |
texazzpete:I suggest you begin to dig further for information you don't agree with rather than dismissing anything that doesn't catch your fancy. Like I stated earlier a lot of things are just beginning to make sense to me after reading through the piece above. Based on what I have come to know in the last couple of hours I dare say that it would even be difficult (if not impossible) to know exactly what goes on in there and it seems military secrecy is what people would rather embrace on this one. However, I do agree that the writer may not be 100% correct in his submissions considering the fact that he claims Abacha was the only Nigerian he knows that attended the school in the early 80's where as my father was there in 1978 as a Major in the NA. There are a whole lot of things that go on that we will never know no matter how hard we try to figure them out. Pulling the young Kabila (by Collin Powell) out of the school after 1 year to become the president of Congo after the assassination of his father at about 32 years goes on to prove that indeed quite a number of problems in Africa can be linked to foreign interests, interference and programs. That Abacha called Powell (at least Powell stated that much) just before overthrowing Shonekan further cements this Powell connection and the school. Now, the question remains - Why is the school still existing today? Is it to help promote an agenda of the host country? |
moxamet:Now, this is troubling. My late dad was sent to that school in 1978 as a Major in the Nigerian Army and this is the first time I am getting to read about what exactly they train them to do. A lot of things are now making sense to me today. I guess I will research more on this school if enough information is even available online and see if I can lay my hands on some documents I have come across in the past in his library. Things are not usually what they seem and I am shocked at the description of that school. |
Hello, This is a new project for a client. I would appreciate comments and criticisms on the website. The address is - www.interiordesigncompanies-ng.com Thanks in advance. |
If you have time read the article below ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Online Scams: Time for EFCC to correctly identify victims as criminals It is easy and convenient for people to sympathize with other people that may have been duped, shortchanged or ripped off in illegal business transactions when in reality we should correctly label them as mere criminals that wanted to make quick money from shady deals and clearly illegal business activities. Can you really defraud a genuine business man or woman who plays by the rules? I am still waiting for the day a genuine business man or woman would stand up to tell the would how he or she was duped by Nigerian fraudsters. Thus far, the most common transactions require massive compensations for willing greedy, lazy and stupid people for their roles in facilitating one illegal business deal or the other. To put this in the right perspective I will attempt to list some of the common online scam emails, the same emails that have made the international community label Nigerians as criminals while protecting the collaborators and illegal business partners in their respective countries. Common variants 1. Someone sends mass emails to unlimited recipients claiming to have inherited a lot of millions of dollars and needs the help of interested people to help transfer the money into a foreign account. For all the troubles the facilitator (usually a foreigner) is promised a percentage of the total sum of money involved but of course would be required to pay processing fees from time to time to get things rolling. 2. A large sum of money has been idle and probably forgotten for so many years without anyone noticing it and the accountant/auditor is trying to arrange for the money to be transferred to a foreign account. Of course, a facilitator is needed and the reward is a percentage from this idle money. 3. Someone just discovered an oil well in his backyard and even though the price of crude oil in the international market is in the public domain these foreigners would prefer to buy from the guy's oil well at say $5 per barrel and sell to anyone above that price to make profit. 4. A guy (usually) posts a picture of a beautiful girl and claims to be one, communicates with people who may have believed they have found love on the internet and before you know it the guy (beautiful girl) would invent ways of asking for money for all sorts of things from the interested men. Now, regardless of the reasons or schemes used to make money by the online scam initiators the fact remains that only the greedy, lazy, stupid and gullible would fall for such schemes. Agreed, the EFCC is doing its best in clamping down on the originators here in Nigeria far more than what other countries are doing in this area (for those that even care to do anything though) but there is a problem, a huge problem - we are wrongly sympathizing with criminals and partners in crime while calling them victims instead of what they really are - mere partners in crime. The EFCC is a law enforcement agency and as such the operations of the EFCC are based on what has been laid down in the most current version of the Act establishing the EFCC. Put differently, the EFCC cannot do anything outside what the law states and this is the only area where I sympathize with the EFCC on the online scam issue. It has been argued by the EFCC that INTENT is the main issue here and as such it has continued to justify the focus on the Nigerians and not on the foreigners who are partners in crime and are yet wrongly called victims. May I remind us that in Nigeria today the Nigeria Police (where the bulk of the EFCC operatives come from) does not give room for partial application of laws when it comes to crimes. Examples of scenarios where all the parties involved in crimes are deemed liable 1. Both the giver and receiver of bribes are considered guilty of the same offence 2. Both the thief (read seller) and receiver (read buyer) of stolen goods are liable So, why would the initiator (the Nigerian) be labeled a criminal while the partner in crime (the foreigner) labeled a victim? Can one person initiate and execute a 419 deal? It takes two to tango. Even things like armed robberies, coups etc are usually initiated by one person but more that one person usually execute them and even insiders and collaborators are dealt with when the plan fails. Nothing like Mr B claiming that it was Mr A's idea when Mr B clearly bought the idea and participated fully in the execution. I guess we need more and more Nigerians (like our Senate President David Mark some months ago) to speak out and condemn the so called 419 victims and more importantly for the law makers to amend or update the EFCC Act to reflect the true state of affairs as regards Nigerian online scams. No singe criminal regardless of nationality should be protected, excused or defended. A crime is a crime and all the players involved are criminals. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ |
Don't be surprised that one guy just sold the idea to the management and as is common people jump into things they may not fully understand based on ridiculous promises and expectations. Well, when it is clear that the money won't be coming in as expected Punch will either do an embarrassing U-turn or close down the website altogether. MTS First wireless came out with the fastest dial up internet access some years ago and I used the service and recommended same to others. Before you could say Jack the company stopped the 24hrs access and came out with 4hrs access per day and expected users (including casual users and business users) to choose any 4hrs plan per day. I went to their office and told them they would lose out completely as it was obvious someone tried to sell the stupid idea to them. I ended my subscription right there. Months later they reversed the crazy policy but by then a lot of people had forgotten about them. An advantage in terms of speed was messed up and today they keep sending messages about fantastic internet offer when people do not want to listen to them again. With the slow loading punch website and not too good navigation layout this is one decision that will hurt Punch and needless to say the so called hits per month on the site would grind to a halt. What is the delivery process for the news like? |
rockhaven:The content in bold refers, I want to believe that the enemies are the corrupt leaders, 419 scammers and other criminals he dealt with while in office. Please confirm the above because I need to be sure that only the guilty and corrupt have been against Ribadu all along. |
scktaggif:You are not Barack Obama. You are a mere clown that has a very low level of reasoning. As they say when issues come to logic some people begin to see ghosts. Keep swimming in an ocean of ignorance. |
x_Theorist:The content in bold refers, are you aware of the role the US played in making sure that the Soviet did not win the war with Afghanistan? Do you know how the Talibans came into being? Have you heard about the Mujahadeens? Do you know anything about the support Osama Bin Laden got from the US when his men where fighting the Soviets? In fact I agree with you, our memories are indeed very short. |
scktaggif:This clown believes that anyone that condemns any wrong doing by Israel must be a muslim and foolishly believes that the way to show you are a good christian is for you to support Israel and/US regardless of any atrocities committed against innocent people. The posters warped sense of reasoning has led him to state that I am a muslim on another thread. Can this clown be banned from using this forum because it is really getting ridiculous reading a lot of nonsense by idiots on this forum these days? |
@Tornadoz, I dey oo, e don tay oo. Take care and enjoy the weekend. scktaggif:I do not hate Jews. I hate and condemn actions like killing of innocent children, women and men all in the name of defending Israel. I also hate the hypocrisy and lies being used to justify such unnecessary waste of lives. I am not a muslim and will never be a muslim till I die. I am a practicing Christian not a religious bigot and I am certainly not one of those that believe that the easiest way to become a good Christian is to support Israel and US regardless of any atrocities they commit. |
