sexkillz: So, who or what stops you from modifying what you don't want anyone to see? And what if you don't want anything to be seen? Do you know that ones profile can be traced using an IP address? Imagine i want to become a senator on the platform of ACN but remember that i've spent most of my time on a forum insulting Tinubu and ACN because i can't be found out later even if i did not use my real name to register. It has happened to a lot of people around the world. That's why people would rather deactivate their account to leave no iota of trace left for anyone to use against them. |
sexkillz: And those that quoted you? You can request that your threads that were quoted be removed as well but the post that quotes yours mustn't be removed. It can be edited. |
justwise: This is what many have said but not a single one of them was able to explain how account deactivation will protect their privacy and safety. Can you?Your profile contains a link to almost every information about a person's life on the forum. Some people don't just want to leave a part of their lives around for everyone to see when they no longer want to use the forum. |
Mynd_44: What is the big deal with dedicating your account? I seriously don't get the rationale hereIt's for privacy and security reasons. That's the only explanation. |
sexkillz: Can they modify their posts? The things is deactivating your account only deletes your profile and the account but leaves the posts. So, what you should do is to delete your comments before deactivating the account. |
justwise: Afam4eva? How will deactivating button protect member's intellectual property?Maybe i used the wrong word. The point is that, some people have made statements that they regret and maybe because they wish to run for the senate, decide that it's best they don't have a trace of those comments anymore and wish to deactivate their account. It's a common practice for them to be granted their wish. That's why that feature is in every forum CMS. |
justwise: Tell me this..... how will deactivation button better nairaland? While i think the OP should have presented his case with more imploring rather than threats, i'm surprised at this your comment. It's a global practice for every website in the world to have a deactivate button. It doesn't have to make the forum better but simply gives every member the right to their intellectual property. I should be able to deactivate my account when i want. |
Caracta: Can't find mine because of the 20-page limit. Here's your first comment Caracta: Lmaohttps://www.nairaland.com/797780/why-ladies-screem-during-love-making#9493915 |
White - Ocha Black - Oji I guess these are the only ones i know. |
The African mindset states that African women cannot divorce their husband except death do them part. |
It's Princess Chineke not Chimeke. And i don't see any laps in that picture. You bloggers have anointed eyes. |
I also think the division of Nigeria should also be put on the table. There should be no no-go areas. Everything and anything should be discussed. |
@Barcanista Pls get your point across without calling out a member's parent. I beg you pls. Let's keep it civil. Thanks. |
donroxy: @Afam, I wouldn't subscribe to the removal of federal character simply cuz right-now,, we have some region(s) that are Educationally backward and as such, we have known that unequal-representative of some ethnic in government/civil service has caused problems in the past where some ethnic would feel cheated because some ethnic are promoted ...... ...... Ethnic tension and domination must be reduced to minimal !!!That some states are educationally backward is no fault of anyone. Nothing stops anyone from going to school like their peers. It's not right to take resources from the Niger Delta and then in turn give someone from Zamfara an edge over someone in Bayelsa. The government only tries to balance things when it's the North that is at disadvantage but won't do so when the south is on the receiving end. Tell me why most military insitutions are sited in the North. Why didn't they spread it in the spirit of federal character. Why do some regions have more states than others? Why doesn't every region have a capital territory funded by the government? This is the hypocrisy that the Northern Oligarchy have planted and when these things go on for too long, people will start accepting them as the norm. Let every state and region develop, build schools and admit their resident/indegenes as their resources can aid them. Every state mustn't be equall. Failures of the NIger Delta should be blamed on NIgerian leaders both within and outside the NIger Delta. Granted the ND states are ruled by corrupt individuals who despite the gargantuan resources at their disposal have little to show for it. But that's not enough reason why we shouldn't continue to make a case for the NIger Delta and owners of the resources. It's simple, allow them control their resources and blame them for their shortcomings. We won't deprive them of what belongs to them just because most of their leaders are corrupt. |
xynerise: All the stories you mentioned involve massive explosions and wild gunfire. How many producers in Nigeria can use a dynamite or grenade in their movies? That's where we should be heading and not keep churning out dramas all the time. |
adewasco2k: He is also gonna be sacked like the other police woman?Who's poor? The driver who was harassed or the evil policeman? Corruption has entered into our blood as Nigerians, that we now find it difficult to know good from bad. |
uj_sizzle: Oh goody!!It's one step at a time. |
WOW!!! |
Popowaa: But do u think the average nigerian will be interested in such movies? They will be interested in them if you present it to their taste. One can even plant a fictional stories into these events. We have to start making chart shattering movies and not all these African-American movies we keep churning out in the name of film advancement. |
Popowaa: What kind of movies do u want to venture in?I want to tell African stories thast have been left attended to. There are events that have happened in this continent and in Nigeria in particular that no one has deemed to do a movie on. Biafran war, June 12, Aba women's riot, Queen Amina, Ife/Modakeke, Ezza/Izzi, Uthman Dan Fodio, pre-indepence, post-indepence, warri crisis, 1966 coup, the Assasination of Murtala Mohammed, Lagos bomb blast and other positive stories that will endear Nigeria to the world. We musn't let foreigners to come tell our stories for us, we have to tell our own stories in order not to be misrepresented. |
Popowaa: Geeky movies i guessLol Geeky movies are boring. |
This man is really bold to come out and say all these things he said. Did he think we would not get the English Transcript or not? I never knew Fajuyi's death was collateral damage. |
Pimples are not caused by groundnut but groundnut can cause pimples. |
This is a morale boost for Enyimba. They're now at the top of the log and i think they stand a better chance of winning the league. Kano Pillar's misfortunes also open a window of opportunity for Rangers to fight for the title or at least get a continental ticket next season. |
sholay2011: Who hacked into Afam's NL acct?I'm really considering film in the future. I'm disappointing in some of the movies that our people are churning out. |
Pls, can anyone direct me to a very good film school where one can learn directing. |
What i'll advocate is a total resource control whereby a stipulated percent of income from the regions or states are paid to the center. We have to start depending less on the federal government. The FG should only handle defense and external issues while local governments, states and/or regions develop Nigeria. It's wicked for the government to keep using the oil meant for the Niger Delta to develop other parts of Nigeria and it's not as if they're even showing gratitude to the region where the oil comes from. The amount of pollution in that region due to the effect of oil exploration is really bad. Let's leave their resources for them while we all use our God given resources to develop our respective regions. Another issue that should be looked into is the issue of federal character. There's no basis why Northern Nigeria should be put at an advantage in such scheme cos at no time in history have they being shortchanged. The affirmative action in America was put in place to reintegrate the minorities especially the blacks in the US and put them at par with the white majority due to what they suffered in the past. So, if at all federal character should benefit anyone in Nigeria, it's the east and the ND that have been at the reason end , especially during the civil war when they lost a lot. But personally, i'll say the federal character be expunged. |
