Symphony007: good. It's a combination of different factors so manchester lost both it's bid because it did'nt present a good case but it had the infastructure. It didn't have a better infrastructure than it's competitors. Manchester is just an above average city by every indices. |
Symphony007: a good thing you've conceded. London won because the team that presented it's bid worked overtime not because it was somehow better than manchester. It's a correlation of different factors. What worked for London in addition to the city being one of the greatest in the world is what you alluded to. That does not mean that Abakaliki will beat New York or Los Angeles if it presents a good case. You must have the infrastructure first and foremost before anything and the cities that contested this time around all had that and it now came to something very vital that made Tokyo win it. |
Symphony007: what nigerian mentality? We are talking of wealth and capacity to host and olympics. And the fact is non of the city you mentioned are as rich as edinburgh. Aberdeen according to wikipedia is the richest city in the world by GDP. So drop that arguement. You were of the opinion that since Edinburgh and Cardiff are capital ciities that they are better than those other cities that i listed...Aberdeen has the highest GDP in the world? Like seriously? I think you got your information here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_cities_by_GDP and if you had played a close attention, you would have noticed that cities around the world were listed in an alphabetical order and Aberden came first followed by Abidjan. Does Abidjan have the second highest GDP in the world? |
Symphony007: no need to argue too much. We're saying the same thing. I said London won because they presented a better case but i'm not aware of the details and it could be what you asserted. Btw, your link is broken. |
This is mad graphics. Thumbs up. |
Na waoo...So, it has gotten to this level where we beg Kenya for visa? |
Symphony007: everybody knows that london would'nt have won the 2012 olympics games bid if not for lord sebastine coe. His bid focusing on young people as the future of the olympics and the conerstone of london 2012 won the day.London won the bid because they were more serious than others. These days US doesn't show enough commitment to wanting to host the Olympics else they New York would have gotten it over LOndon or Chicago over Rio. The cities that have won the bid tend to be more dedicated and present a better case than their competition. |
Symphony007: none of the cities you mentioned except maybe for shanghai is richer than edinburgh. Be reminded. Edingburgh is the capital of scotland. It's not just another britsih city. Same with cardiff which is the welsh capital. So what if it's the capital. Glasgow is the Lagos of Scotland and not even Edinburgh. That a city is a capital does not mean it's better than another city that's not a capital. You have to do away with that Nigerian mentality. Do you know that Chicago is the 3rd or 4th most important US city? How can you compare those Scottish and Welsh cities with Miami or Boston or Melbourne. These cities are global cities. |
chucky234: Commonwealth games is wack void of the kind of fun that come with the Olympics. You're right. Any competition that Britain dominates is not worth following. |
baby-boy:Florida is a state not a city. These cities you have listed have better infrastructure than Abuja but that's not always a factor. London beat New York to host the 2012 edition. Does it mean London has more infrastructure than New York? |
baby-boy:The first Olympic of this century was hosted by Sydney in Australia and not Athen, Greece. |
nitlad: Correct. The US is like a continent on it's own and the distance between New York and Los Angeles is like the distance between New York and London, so i think as far as America is concerned, it's considered a continent. So, the rule may not apply to them as much as others. |
ennon92: except for south africa so far they hosted d mundial in 2010 n it was something to write home about. It's wayy easier to host the world cup than the Olympic games. The Olympics is a different ball game. Johannesburg, Capetown or any SA city that wants to host the Olympics have to work over 3 times as hard as they worked for South Africa 2010. |
Symphony007: does that make it less capable of hosting the games? Paris and new york lost the 2012 bid to london, does that mean they were less capable? Why do you think Britain lost the bid when they presented Manchester but won when they presented London? |
Symphony007: my mistake. So do you think edinburgh can't host an olympics? Or cardiff? Liverpool. Blackpool.etc...forget the commonwealth games, that's not an issue.Edinburgh, Cardiff or Liverpool can host it but not when they're up against bigger and richer cities like Boston, Miami, Chicago, Melbourne, SHanghai etc. They also have to be up and doing financially which is very very critical. |
You've not finished wooing the Black Carribean countries like Jamaica, Haiti, Barbados etc and it's Brazil that you want to woo. Your reason why they should join the AU is quite daft. Do the black people in Brazil have a separate government from the whites? |
nitlad: This is not a criterion for the IOC. Na individual city dey bid not the country - the city with the most robust bid according to the IOC wins!Of cos it's not explicitly written as a criterion but the IOC would not ordinarily give the hosting right to a city in the same country with another city that has hosted it in a very short time. They try as much as possible to move it around. Atlanta 96(North America), Sydney 2000(Oceania), Greece 2004(Europe), Beijing 2008(Asia), London 2012(Europe), Rio 2016(South America), Tokyo 2020(Asia). So, you can see that they keep moving it around. The only reason it hasn't gotten to Africa is that it will be very difficult for an African city to host the event. |
baby-boy:In Nigeria, cities don't generate soo much money as a lot of stuff is controlled for a center, so i don't see how a Nigerian city will be able to host the olympics without heavy support from the FG. It's just not possible. At least not yet. Even the Abuja commonwealth bid was put forth and supported by the federal government. So, whether the Olympics is hosted in Yenagoa, Abakaliki or Ado-Ekiti, the Nigerian government will bear the grunt. |
baby-boy:A city hosts the olympics but does ot always carry the financial weight alone. Afterall the city's success is the country's success. Abuja hosted the All African Games some years back but the funds came from the federal government. You don't expect a city in Nigeria to fun such a sporting event. Do you? And What do you mean by "Abuja cannot beat Cairo, Casablanca or Nairobi let alone Johannesburg!". Are those cities competing with Abuja? Who says they're interested in hosting the olympics. The games is not necessarily given to the better city but the city that shows more commitment. |
Symphony007: ever heard of liverpool. Manchester. Edinburgh. Cardiff, glascow, blackpool,etc...by the way, manchester is hosting the 2014 commonwealth games. You're wrong. manchester hosted it some years back. 2014 belongs to Glasgow. Btw, the commonwealth games is not the same as the olympics. |
What if i kill my lover? |
I think the lady should have said all she said without this line "The very first thing we need to understand is that homoséxuality, biséxuality, aséxuality are all as natural as heteroséxuality.". No, these sexual orientation are not natural hence we wouldn't have had pricks and vaginas. Rubbish!!! |
Whether we agree with the list is inconsequential as it remains the opinion of NotJustOk. There's no such thing as "Most Gifted Rappers" anyways as people like different rappers for different reasons. So, it's a matter of choice. I would have only disagreed with the list had it been "Most successful rappers" cos there are parameters to know the most successful rappers. |
It's definitely a flavour song or one he featured cos those lyrics were invented by him. I don't know much about song lyrics but it sounds like "Adamma". I may be wrong though. |
Naeto C, despite the fact that i'm not a fan should not be on that list. He has made some hits and deserve to be there. I think Olamide is wayyy overated. I'm still trying to figure what the fuss is about his music. |
190-the-clown:How i go drag wetin no be your own with you? Oya, wake up from ya slumber ![]() |
190-the-clown:Lol Abeg, don't let us derail this beariful thread. Go and open a birthday thread for Cossy Orjiako or something and you might just get some ![]() |

The interview na die. It just flowed naturally. Rita "Nwaturuocha" Domnic speaks very well and is very intelligent. I like her even more than before. Mbaise for life. |
Is the Copacabana beach in Rio not enough fun for these Brazilians anymore? Last time, it was a guy that changed his face to a dog face and now someone getting married to a goat. Sometimes, too much money na bastard. |
onila: u live in paris?Yes, Paris street in Agege. It's very close to Moshalashi Alhaja. |
