Dating And Meet-up ZoneRe: Automated Matchmaker by africanboy(op): 8:33am On Jul 24, 2007
i take offense to your statement
larryoncol:
this site is not for match making ok, go to www.smutvibes.com if you feel deprived sexually
, because as a matter of fact, I am not sexually deprived. Maybe you are, I am not.

Wonder when matchmaking necessarily had to translate to sex.
Nairaland GeneralNairaland Rules - My View by africanboy(op): 12:33pm On Jul 20, 2007
Just going through this post after I started looking for some of my posts (my intellectual property?)

- The use of multiple accounts without explicit permission of the forum administrator(s) is prohibited.
why would i need multiple accounts
- Manual signatures inserted in the body of posts are not allowed. Use the forum profile to insert signatures.
- Affiliate links, questionable investment schemes, MLM, HYIP, & get-rich-quick schemes are not allowed.
why
- Disturbing, disgusting, or irritating pictures are not allowed. Violation attracts a very harsh ban.
- It is a grievous offence to announce the death of a Nairaland member on the forum.
what if the person is actually dead?
- Animated signatures, moving signatures, or image signatures more than 20 pixels tall are forbidden.
- The location in your profile must be the country, state or town you currenty live in - if you're active.
- The invasion of another user's privacy is now strictly prohibited - example: posting a lady's full name.
can i post my own full name?

PROPER ENGLISH LANGUAGE ONLY
Please use standard, proper, and clear English at all times when publicly discussing topics on the Nairaland Forum. Avoid the use of Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa, local 'pidgin', or other languages on the forum. If you find it necessary to express yourself using any of these other languages, then you must provide a translation in clear, proper, standard English so that those that don't understand the language you have used would still be able to enjoy the forum.
eyi ti n won so ni ibi ko ye mi o

AIM FOR MAXIMUM CLARITY
Always aim for maximum clarity when composing content for the Nairaland, and try your best to adhere to all of the widely acknowledged Internet Posting Guidelines: avoid unecessary use of all caps, punctuate properly, break your posts into short paragraphs, use clear English (no slangs), et cetera. High quality writing will be rewarded how?and low-quality writing will be penalized!

ALWAYS POST ON TOPIC
Off-topic or worthless posts will also be strictly penalized! We want our forum to be well-organized.

GOOD, DESCRIPTIVE TITLES FOR NEW THREADS
Strive to choose the best possible title for every thread. A descriptive title gives the reader user a very strong, accurate idea of what is actually being discussed without being too long. A really good title should be durable, i.e. good for several months of discussion (e.g. "Presidential Election 2007" instead of "Chris Okotie drops out of the race" but what if i want to talk about this topic and not the elections in general
). Don't be alarmed if a moderator modifies the title of your new thread to make it more descriptive, durable, and compact.

NO PERSONAL ATTACKS OR PUBLIC FIGHTS
Nairaland is a discussion forum, and it is inevitable that disagreements with crop up from time to time. Please be nice and respectful to other members at all times and do not resort to personal attacks, accusations, name-calling, and other unproductive forms of communication. If you are upset with another member of the forum you must settle the fight outside the forum. You must not carry out any 'fights' on the open forum. 'Fights' are not allowed.
haba, make una allow fights now. after all, even senators fight on public tv. besides if arguing is bad, how come hotsports is a widely enjoyed program?

NO SEXUALLY EXPLICIT OR HATEFUL CONTENT
Please do not post any pictures, multimedia content, or writing that is sexually explicit (lewd, suggestive, bawdy, dirty, erotic, filthy, gross, hard core, immodest, indecent, indelicate, lascivious, licentious, naughty, obscene, off-color, pornographic, X-rated, smutty, suggestive). We will also not allow any comments that promote hatred or discrimination against any race, ethnic or religion group, gender, sexual orientation, et cetera.
nuff said

24 HOUR BANNING, PROBATION, ETC
Our basic punishments for members of the forum who violate these rules and/or are uncooperative include 24 hour banning, indefinite probation, 1 week banning, 2 week banning, 1 month banning, complete banning, public humiliation, and anything thing else that the dark mind of the site administrator can think of! So it's better to leave the forum quietly than to break the rules. Punishment is rare but is done with absolute resolution.
but what of the rewards? google adsense revenue sharing?

PLEASE BE COOPERATIVE!
Nairaland is first of all a privately owned website, then a discussion forum. We strive to ensure that anything published on our Nairaland.com domain is up to a certain standard, and a number of times we have to use our discretion. Regardless of whether you agree with administrative decisions or not, we require you be fully cooperative with us at all times, else refrain from posting or sending messages on the site. Disputes or disagreements with the administrator(s) must be handled privately.
heck, we can ask you to stop breathing, and you must co-operate - just kidding

And the most important rule is this: don't do anything that annoys the admin. Thanks a million!
in the words of ruggedman (probably misquoted) - "and for those who can not talk unless oga door don close"

Mr Adewale Afolabi

adewaleafolabi:
africanboy who said dreamweaver doesn't run on linux ? i use linux and i have been running flash and dreamweaver on ubuntu linux 6.10 and i haven't had a problem ever since. grin
Do you know why there are few commercial games and applications for linux ? Its because most of the software companies are one way or the other tied to microsoft and they dear not support a different platform or else they'll get their a** sued.
And also the population of linux users were not that much but with the increasing size of linux users, expect to see more commercial titles for it. grin grin
I am not neither blind nor dumb, but I do not see Linux listed on this page http://www.adobe.com/products/dreamweaver/systemreqs/

Just another page I stumbled upon, http://www.webmasterworld.com/forum40/697.htm

So please tell us, what 're u guys enjoying on mac that anybody that uses falls greatly inlove with the OS. My problem is that mac doesnt have a CD that u can use tu install it on computers like (k),(x),(edu) Ubuntu. It has tu be a mac system. I heard they were coming up with one soon. We are yet tu see,
But windows XP is cool if not for the viruses. Take a look at this screen shot
i guess you should not forget to indicate that you have installed VTP7 on your system. hope you have run an anti-spyware after that installtion because VTP7 is adware supported. check the terms.
ComputersRe: Are You Sick And Tired Of Windows? by africanboy(m): 7:40pm On Jul 18, 2007
i am surprised people still have this argument. as far as i am concerned, we all choose what helps up sleep at night.

i dual boot windows xp and ubuntu 7.04. i spend more time in windows and i have not had a virus problem in years.

for all those arguing for linux, have you played electronic arts' godfather on linux without using a WINE layer? how about other games that I am so much in love with. ok, does dreamweaver run on linux? (last time i checked and i may be wrong - NO). i have no problem with command lines or having to tweak applications for them to run, but in my business - time is money. usually the first to the market wins the market.

one of my experiences with linux: i have a usb-serial dongle which i need to connect to my phone for my internet access. the driver is only available for windows, yet to get software for linux i have to connect to the internet. sorry, too much bother. i switch back to windows.

windows xp, not vista cause vista sucks!

linux distros are good because i have the 3 *buntu flavors, fedora core 6, knoppix and DSL, BUT like i said windows serves me better for now.

------------------------------------
i will ignore the argument for mac until i can install it on my machine. until then, its like offering me a hummer engine for my SLK.

------------------------------------
as at now, i am comfortable with windows

TravelRe: The Fear Of Area Boys (Agbero) In Lagos by africanboy(op): 2:41pm On Feb 27, 2007
Why in the name of the most high gods must you want to "rehabilitate" a conductor doing a honest day's work?
a boy between the ages of 10 - 16 is doing a honest day's work. would you allow your younger brother to do a honest day's work

You know who needs to be rehabilitated? Clueless do-gooders like you.
now that's just being rude

Conductors and area boys are not the same. Area boys exort money while conductors collect money legitimately.
If a boy is able to make 1000 naira per day doing what he knows, why the hell must you deprive him of his job?
wow, the guy's brilliant, but wait, this boy is underage. he ran away from home because he was being maltreated

I have no problem with conductors being given additional training, but you need to respect the job they do.
Afterall their work for the benefit of people like you and me who take public transport. How can that be bad?

Gah.
should i comment? NO!

give them jobs? yeah right!

and what would be the motivation for them?? more money than they receive now

i have a personal experience: i and a couple of friends (my girlfriend included) started a sort of NGO (actually a project) which we named the "Street Life Project". The project has the aim of taking kids off the streets and place them where they belong - home, school or proper work.

We have 1 success story so far, Taiye Ganiyu Afolabi, whom we saw as a bus conductor and helped located his people. He spent about 2 weeks with us, during which we had to feed him and virtually clothe him. Many times, he had strong urges to go back to the garage (where he could get up N1000 per day, whereas we could only give him a maximum of N300). The only motivation for him to stay was the fact that we promised to help him get back to school. We are currently working on an adult school for him, but his people have been stubborn (they want him to learn a trade).

The MCL people (email) want us to use their "banker software" for this purpose, though it can definitely be done with a spreadsheet or manual calculator.
What does their software do that other accounting and budgeting softwares do not do? Check the bank balance automatically?

Apologies, I could not read through all the posts before posting. Crucify me anyway.

According to the Adverts, Celtel had approx 13-15 million subscribers in about 13-14 countries before coming to Nigeria. Vmobile had approx 5 million before morphing into Celtel. My maths may be bad, but Celtel had approx 1-2 million subscribers per country before coming here and they want to handle a base of approx 5 million.

They will definitely require some time to adapt (that is if they can).

As for me, I retain my Celtel for one reason only - a lot of people know me on that number (I have lost and recovered it thrice).
