- "Every woman in here … every guy you met has been trying to fvck you. That's right. Women are offered d1ck every day. Every woman in here … gets offered d1ck at least three times a week. Three times a day, shiiit! That's right, every time a man's being nice to you … all he's doing is offering d1ck. That's all it is. 'Can I get that for you? – How about some d1ck?' 'Could I help you with that? – Could I help you to some d1ck? – Do you need some d1ck?'" |

ifyalways: Speaking as an Igbo lady. . .
Traditional wedding which includes bride price, exchange of gifts by both families signifies : The groom and his family can take care of the bride. Both families agreeing to eat from one pot, drink from one cup. Appreciation to the parents, community for raising a fine(not meant literally) daughter.
I love trad. Weddings, makes sense to me as opposed to going to a church/mosque/ shrine to swear and/ or take imported meaningless oaths. No pun or offense intended. damiso: My favourite part of weddings esp Yoruba weddings is the traditional engagement esp all the hassle they make the groom and his family go through. It might not be cool or modern but I love the rich tradition and drama.alagas ( traditional mcs)are so hilarious I don't think whatever yam, orange, malt ,dried fish etc my husbands family brought was up to a fraction of what my parents spent on our wedding not to talk of my education and bringing me up.There was no bride price and they too also got gifts back to share among their kin. If he says we bought yam me too I will I say 'See how you were prostrating like your life depended on it' I say it sef you saw fine gal and flew miles and prostrated In front of the whole world Nice posts... Let's not throw away our culture in the name of being "civilized" Your bride price isn't you worth! |

Family › Re: Why Are Men Cooler With Being Single Than Women. by Afrobasic(m): 9:37pm On Dec 29, 2014 |
MizMyColi: It's a societal conditioning of sorts that the woman's place is with a man, without whom she's a figurehead of sorts. A dogma, an apogee. It's been passed down from aeons of generations ago --- Belief affects DNA y'know? Catch my drift?
It's not gonna change anytime soon.
Another reason is this - The man's priority is provision, the woman's priority is procreation. This explains why a man focuses his attention on provision related ventures, and the woman on procreation related ventures.

Family › Re: Appeal To All: Feminism by Afrobasic(m): 8:01pm On Dec 29, 2014 |
cococandy: trust me that is temporary.
As long as you're on nairaland. Someone will say something silly sometime and you won't know when you're dishing them their due is same language because that's all they understand. It's been almost a yr since I last confronted a religionists, I'm somewhat cool with them now, And I don't do 'dishing', because one only gets angrier(especially if the person you're dishing is a better cook). |
Family › Re: Appeal To All: Feminism by Afrobasic(m): 7:52pm On Dec 29, 2014 |
VickyyB: You go tey be that.... Of course. It won't be easy. But with the kind of 'ginger' I have and the recent growth of anti-feministic twitter accounts (which tells me that a lot of people are switching sides)... It's only a matter of time before feminism falls in the same rank as the ku klux klan. But for now sadly, it has to flourish. |

VickyyB: You failed woefully!!
1) Atheist were religious people. 2) Religionists disturb them with their outreaches and condemnation.
Now, 1) Were you a feminist. 2) Do feminists disturb you?
1a) not all 2a) True 1b) nope 2b) after #shirtgate and with the recent trend of 'feminist' playing victim all the time. I've come to realize that feminism does indeed bother me. And it must be stoped! (At least in Africa) by all means possible |
Family › Re: Appeal To All: Feminism by Afrobasic(m): 7:23pm On Dec 29, 2014 |

Note : I've absolutely nothing against your side To me, it's more like giving them a taste of their own medicine, although I'm born again now |

VickyyB: Shutup. Wayward daughter indeed.
You men need to control your stùpid manliness and wayward self. As old as the ning nong, he chose a teenage girl. Girls... constantly blaming men for the problems(no be today)... She was enjoying the willy and looking for money, She did not tell anybody... Now that she's pregnant, we should solely blame the man |

I would go for a male boss anyday, anytime, they give you lesser stress in any ramification . Haha... You seem like a bad girl. I like bad girls @topic Male of course! |
Family › Re: Is It Compulsory For A Married Woman To Take On Her Husband's Surname? by Afrobasic(m): 11:43am On Dec 26, 2014 |
Evina: All these gender equality talks!
The westerners who introduced the subject, take on their husbands name. Do you have more money, success and fame than Beyonce? Who proudly calls herself Mrs carter on her tours?
The females in under developed countries who don't fully grasp the subject, are causing problems for themselves.
Property of a man, what is wrong in being his property? So long as that property is not being misused or abused, kini big deal? You made perfect sense here! But sure enough, their inflated ego won't let them think |

Society and its norms as we know it will change drastically in the next 50 years. Very soon name changing and divorce won't be issues. Very true, the way I see it, there would be a lot of single and bitter 'old people' in the next 30-40 years |
