Big Bang theory?

Basically.. Galaxies are moving away from each other so at a point in time everything must have been at an infini-small-point in which everything came from. Get it?

Funny enough this theory was proposed by a reverend father.

As to what set the universe in motion, there are so many theories/hypothesis on it, one promising one is:
1)the universe is part of a larger multiverse and collisions between two universes in such a multiverse creates a new universe.


I don't subscribe to the Big Bang theory mainly because the evidence presented is based on the visible part(the portion we can see) of the universe which is 13.4billion years from our viewpoint. And our view point(the Milky Way) presents itself to be at the centre of the universe which is almost certainly wrong(consider your self on a remote island in the Atlantic Ocean. You might get the impression you are in the middle of the ocean, because in every direction you look, you would see water but if you could zoom out and see the bigger picture, you definitely won't be in the middle). More so, nobody knows the shape of the universe, it might curve in on itself at the supposed edges.

If you ask me how the universe came about, I'll say 'I don't know'. But TBBT is at the forefront at explaining how the universe came to be.

He is alive: House, I need your contribution regarding the questions below:

1) What would happen If +ve terminal of a DC battery is connected to a bulb (using one wire) & another wire coming out from bulb is inserted in the ground (earth) instead of connecting it to the -ve terminal of the battery:
a) Would the bulb glow?

b) If yes, does it mean electrons in the wire flow into the earth?
c) If no, would it glow if the -ve terminal of the battery is connected to
the ground?

No. (In regard to question c)

2) Could you account for the electrons that enter the ground as a result of:
a) connection of the neutral of electric source and drain to a ground?
b) Short circuit fault to a ground?
c) Surges been directed to the ground?

There are really sound theories that has proved how the earth formed 4.6billion yrs ago with substantial evidence from both geological and astronomical stand point. The only evidence you have that your god created the earth is from your bible, a muslim can also make such deduction from his quran. And such convolution in logic without substancial evidence makes your assertion invalid. Sorry.

BUT as stated earlier, there are also such 'testimonies' from your fellow religious(muslims, pagans etc) and even from people who don't believe in anything at all. So this point is also pointless

If I were to suggest that between the Earth and Mars there is a china teapot revolving about the sun in an elliptical orbit, nobody would be able to disprove my assertion provided I were careful to add that the teapot is too small to be revealed even by our most powerful telescopes.

So many of the posts that trend here are literally insane & completely hilarious. I think a lot of atheists would at least find great amusement in the absurdity promoted in the religion Section. Nigeria desperately needs moderate voiced advocating modernity for the good of Nigeria.
