The only reason we got him this time was because he was going to City. If PSG or any other non-British club had gone for him we won't have lifted a finger. I am not even sure we would have done anything if he had gone to an English club not named Liverpool, Leeds, City.

For months everybody has known that CR7 was leaving Juve but we made no move and Amaka said he was happy with his squad. From what i am hearing it was late Thursday night when it became clear that he was going to City that Woodward, SAF, Joel Glazer got into motion and then several of his ex-United teammates like Rio, Evra e.t.c started bombarding him with calls and messages not to make the move to protect his United legacy.

City then found out what was happening and decided to pull back on Friday morning because they suspected they would lose the battle. This now gave United a free route to sealing the deal within a few hours. It is funny how we signed Sancho, Varane, CR7 without much competition from other teams.


P.S Jose Mourinho was in charge when CR7 left Real AND the squad was quite poor then. With the transfer and other fees then it would not have made much sense to either party at that time.

The 2 players with potential to make it as 10s in the youth system are Zidane Iqbal and Shoretire though they play it in different ways ( Zidane more of a midfielder 10 while Shoretire more of a 2nd striker 10).

If Ronaldo comes back every talk of slow progression and building for the future would be DOA. Not everybody wants that kind of pressure.

There are people in that club that would be uncomfortable with a big personality like Ronaldo in the club and the attendant pressure and expectation to win NOW that it would bring.

A manager can not claim to be building for the future if a serial winner like CR7 is in his squad. Such a manager would reject a move for CR7 to avoid stories that touch.

More of central midfield although he was dropping quite deep to pick up the ball. The coach had brain touch with the way he set them up in a formation that was strange to them which contributed to their loss.

And yes their is no reason why he shouldn't be starting Carabao Cup games. The guy's potential is sky high but he needs senior minutes as well as mentoring.

Even if he is not nominally a DM he is better suited to be a DM than VDB or anybody we have in our squad not named Matic. Tackling, interception, tenacity, strength on the ball, passing are all on point.

perhaps because he has some years left on his current deal, but he's on £25k weekly. that's quite low by industry average.

He has just 2 years left on his contract. We always prefer the shiny object rather than something functional.
