What drove him to take the bold step was the bitter realization of the gross abuse of power and misrepresentation perpetrated by the Representatives of the people in Government. Someone please help me with "Local man is tired" ![]() **modified Tnx guys!

OlujobaSamuel:Why do we like criticizing and condemning the people at the receiving end in this country? So you think a parent will have a means of getting his/her child out of prison for a flimsy offence of a facebook criticism, and they will not do anything? This statement clearly shows you are not yet a parent. |

Its within her right. Let the Appeal court rule on the case without sentiments and with eyes closed to the names involved.

200 parents threaten to withdraw wards from Madonna varsity No fewer than 200 parents of students on Madonna University have threatened to withdraw their wards over the continued detention of six students and one lecturer. On Tuesday, the absence of Justice Babtunde Quadri of the Federal High Court 2 in Awka, Anambra state stalled the much-awaited release of six Madonna University students and their lecturer. Six students of Madonna University, Okija, Anambra state and a lecturer were arrested and detained since February 2019 over an alleged opinion they posted on Facebook. The post was about poor management in the institution. The Court was filled to the brim on the adjourned date with human rights defenders, parents of the detained students and sympathisers in attendance. But the Judge, it was gathered, would seat on Wednesday for continuation of the trial. However, no fewer than 30 parents of the detained students had started meeting to discuss on how to withdraw their wards One of the parents, Christopher Onyejekwe, told reporters in Awka, that the Institution was likely to lose over 200 students next semester. Onyejekwe, said when the problem started, he went to the founder of the institution eleven times to beg him but all to no avail. According to him: “It has become a fight to the finish. These children have suffered since February 11th in detention. Four of my children are in the Madonna University now” https://thenationonlineng.net/200-parents-threaten-to-withdraw-wards-from-madonna-varsity/ |
Nice one. Senator Kalu. Btw, where is the ministerial list? |
Increasetim28:Yeah. They will ask you to show proof that you earned it legitimately. Once there are inconsistencies in your proofs, money don enter voicemail be that. |
saintokwuluora:I need cases where the full weight of the law has been meted out. Kindly help me with info. |
Ritaokafor:She is not- and was not a minister. |
itsme01:In Nigeria? Read my comment again pls. |
Jasen1:That is definitely what Buhari will say. |
All these libel suit in Nigeria does not always have a headway. The only time we get to hear about it is when it is filed. Anyone kindly inform me. Has a respondent ever paid after losing in a libel suit in Nigeria or filed for bankruptcy due to inability to pay? Atiku should pursue his claims against her if he has his facts, its about time people from different political divide exercised restraint in their utterances. |
9jaRealist:Each states' Representative is usually nominated by the state governor. |
cyrilamx:Who is denying his heritage? I only corrected the person that said he is from Rivers. |
amaniro:He is from Delta state. |
Whats all these useless appointment for now? What a waste. Ordinary deputy speaker, making 11 appointments, for now? This our type of democracy is just too expensive. Ironically, we dont even have this money. Richer countries like the UK are extremely frugal with government resources and funds. I wonder why they still give us financial aids. babzo:Just imagine this waste. Until Nigerians close political, ethnic and religious divide and speak with one voice against waste. Na so the thing go dey till end of time. |
gazza07:Dont you know how to read? Are u an illiterate? The news is up there for you. Go and read it to know other members of the commission. Dont wait to be spoon fed every time. That is the major culprit for the gullibility that has become a plague in our country. |
Bolustical:Interestingly, that seems to be the case now! |
Emefiele was re-appointed for a fresh 5-year term. Mbam has been appointed for a fresh 5-year term. John Thomas was appointed as alternate NNPC Chairman, no qualms. How come it is only when Northerners are appointed that there is always noise and so much buzz? |
comshots:Smh. Why, u are still looking for an avenue to condemn?? must you wail over everything? Quorax:Stylishly announce regions? Dont you know the difference between states and regions? Educate yourself please, all states are statutorily to be represented in the commission. If a chairman of Nigeria's revenue allocation agency is not a major appointment, which one will be? The commission is responsible for allocating funds to the three tiers of government. If the CBN governor that Buhari also appointed a southerner is not a major role, then u need to redefine your own 'major'. Is the chairman of NNPC Board also not a major appointment? |
Good one from Mr President. |
Buhari swears-in chairman, commissioners of Revenue Mobilisation Commission President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday swore in the chairman and commissioners of the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC). Elias Mbam from Ebonyi State was appointed as the chairman of the Commission alongside 29 others as Commissioners representing various states. Chiyere Aniobi from Enugu state is the only female in the team President Buhari, during the event which held at the Presidential Villa, urged the officials to be fair and just to the three tiers and arms of government at all times. He has also urged the commission not to compromise its constitutional mandate for whatever reasons. “The mandate of the Commission is very wide and has an important for our country’s economy. The Commission must be fair and just to the three tiers and arms of government without compromising its core mandate,” he said. Mr Buhari said the officials were chosen based on their integrity and proven track records thus, much is expected from them. He appealed to the commission to work hard towards meeting government’s target of lifting 100 million Nigerians out of poverty. “In my speech on June 12 Democracy Day, I informed Nigerians that this administration has laid the foundation for transforming our country and liberating our people from the shackles of poverty by putting policies and measures to integrate our rural economies to the national economic grid. Our measure is to extend credit facilities currently available, to be able to encourage and support domestic production of basic goods and reduce our reliance on imported goods. “I set a target for our country to lift 100 million Nigerians out of poverty in 10 years. This commitment is to further challenge the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission to rise to its constitutional responsibilities and mandate. “I will charge the chairman and honourable commissioners to concentrate more on expanding the sources of revenue to the federation account and other non-oil sources including solid minerals, use all legal ways and means to strengthen its monitoring mechanism and block leakages of revenue from the federation account, all relevant laws and regulations on revenue collection and remittances should be fully complied with and appropriate sanctions visited on defaulters,” he said. The President assured the commission that government will continue to provide all the necessary support that will facilitate its work. Background Although Mr Buhari had in July 2016 announced the reappointment of Mr Mbam as the chairman of the commission, his name was not sent to the National Assembly until recently when it became necessary to fill the post. Mr Mbam left the commission in November 2015 after the end of his first five-year tenure Vanguard newspaper also reported how the Senate, in May, confirmed Mr Mbam’s reappointment. Some of the tasks facing the commission as it gets to work include giving the nation a new revenue formula which constitutionally is supposed to be reviewed every five years. RMAFC was established by Decree No.49 of 1989 (now an Act of National Assembly) to handle revenue allocation and fiscal matters on a continuous basis. The body is also responsible for fixing the remuneration of political office holders as well as monitoring the revenues accruing to the federation account from revenue-generating agencies. Meanwhile, those confirmed as commissioners include: Chris Akomas (Abia), Ayang Sunday Okon(Akwa Ibom), Chima Philip Okafor (Anambra), Prof. Isa Mohammed (Bauchi), Samuel Adaa Maagbe (Benue), Ntufam Eyo Nsa Whiley (Cross River), Andrew Ogheneovo Agbaga (Delta), Patrick Mgbebu (Ebonyi) and Victor Eboigbe (Edo). Others confirmed are: Amujo Philip Ajayi (Ekiti), Maria Aniobi (Enugu), Musa Abari (FCT), Mohammed Usman (Gombe), Alhaji Ahmed Mahmoud Gumel (Jigawa), Alh. Kabir Muhammad Mashi (Katsina), Barr. Umar Farouk Abdullahi (Kano), Rilwan Hussein Abarshi (Kebbi), Hon Suleiman Kokori Abdul (Kogi), and Abdullahi Shuaibu Yaman (Kwara). Wright Olusegun Adekunle (Lagos), Aliyu A. Abdulkadir (Nasarawa), Ibrahim Bako Bagudu Shettima (Niger), Mr.Fari Adebayo (Ogun), Mr. Tokunbo Ajasin (Ondo), Kolade Daniel Abimbola (Oyo), Mr. Alexander Shaiyen (Plateau), Wenah Asondu Temple (Rivers), Alhaji Modu Aji Juluri (Yobe) and Abubakar Sadiq A. Gusau (Zamfara) were also among the nominees confirmed for the Commission. The confirmation was sequel to the adoption of the report of the Senate Committee on National Planning and Economic Affairs. https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/more-news/337440-buhari-swears-in-chairman-commissioners-of-revenue-mobilisation-commission.html |
This is highly commendable. If the present governor is able to pull this through, he would have imprinted his name as a true achiever for the state. |
Iyajelili:They asked presidential spokespersons to respond about the issue, and they responded. What issue do u have with that?? The statement released by Amosun's team is non-existent to you I guess. You are only concerned about the non specific response of Garba Shehu. ![]() |
