It is always good to have a number of opposition in any state House of Assembly. I dont know why we put more attention on the Federal govt than state. If we devote more attention similar to that on the FGN to the local and state government, we would be able to extract better performance from them. Btw any info on Kano House of Assembly? |
Good! Let the legal fireworks begin. I trust Olanipekun and his crack team, they will make Atiku downcast a 2nd time.

BREAKING: Tribunal grants Buhari, APC access to inspect electoral materials https://punchng.com/breaking-tribunal-grants-buhari-apc-access-to-inspect-electoral-materials/ The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal on Thursday granted access to President Muhammadu Buhari and his party, the All Progressives Congress, to inspect the materials used for the conduct of the February 23 presidential election. In their separate ex parte applications for the order of inspection, Buhari and his party had said they needed to be granted access to the materials to enable them to defend themselves in any petition which the runner-up in the poll, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, and his Peoples Democratic Party, had vowed to file. Buhari and APC had emerged victorious in the election, which its outcome Atiku and PDP had vowed to challenge at the tribunal. The Justice Abdu Aboki-led tribunal had earlier on March 6 granted similar order to PDP and Atiku permitting them to inspect the electoral materials used by the Independent National Electoral Commission for the conduct of the election to enable them to file their petition against the outcome of the poll. Buhari and the APC, through their lawyers, moved their separate ex parte motions before the three-man bench on Thursday. The tribunal in their rulings made the order permitting them to carry out the inspection of the electoral materials and obtain the certified through copies of the documents from INEC. https://punchng.com/breaking-tribunal-grants-buhari-apc-access-to-inspect-electoral-materials/ |
rusher14:The comments on this thread is highly embarrassing. To think many youths on the street are this deficient in simple comprehension is mind boggling. |
Esseite: How can someone be glorying in ignorance? |
MarianaTrench:You are obviously not informed about Shell and the oil wells in Ogoni. |
rusher14:Which ones? I dont get. |
The only issue I have with the above document is the Chief of Staff issuing an instruction on behalf of the president, without the president's little note/signature to show concurrence. |
ZombieNation:Did you read the memo? Has Shell been able to successfuly operate the Ogoni oil wells?? |
rusher14:For smooth re-entry the memo says. Don't mind them, always on the lookout for a scandal that will never happen. |
ozo13:Good question, I have been wondering as well. |

APC wins 15 Plateau Assembly seats, PDP, 8 In Plateau State, INEC said that it would conduct a run-off in Langtang South Constituency after a winner could not emerge during last Saturday’s poll. But the commission said the APC won in 15 constituencies, while the PDP secured eight seats. It was observed that the winner for the Langtang South Constituency was not included in the list released by INEC. When contacted, INEC Head of Voter Education in the state, Mr Osaretin Imahiyereobo, explained that there were problems with the results for the Lantang South. He added that the commission would conduct a run-off in the Langtang South. The INEC official also disclosed that a bye-election would soon be conducted to replace the winner for Pengana Constituency in Bassa Council Area of the state, Mr Ezekiel Afou, who died shortly after he was declared winner of last Saturday’s poll on the platform of the APC. APC wins 39 out of 40 seats in Lagos Assembly The APC won 39 seats in the Lagos State House of Assembly in the election that was held on Saturday. In a related development, out of the 24 House of Representatives seats in Lagos, the APC won 20, the PDP won three constituencies while election in Ajeromi/Ifelodun Federal Constituency was suspended on court orders. The APC won in Agege, Ifako/Ijaiye, Alimosho, Badagry, Epe, Ibeju Lekki, Eti-Osa, Apapa, Ikeja, Ikorodu, Lagos Island I and II, Lagos Mainland I and II, Ojo, Mushin I and II, Oshodi/Isolo I and II, Shomolu, Kosofe and Surulere I Federal constituencies. NEC to conduct runoff in three Bayelsa constituencies Meanwhile, INEC on Tuesday said that it would conduct a run-off in the three constituencies in Bayelsa State, where elections were declared inconclusive. INEC Head of Department, Voter Education and Publicity, Mr Wilfred Ifogah, who announced this in Yenagoa, listed the constituencies as Ogbia Constituency 11, Brass 1 and Southern-Ijaw IV. Out of the 24 seats in the Bayelsa House of Assembly, results of 21 have been declared; with the PDP winning 17, while the APC claimed four. Ifogah explained that the reason for declaring result of three constituencies inconclusive was due to failure to follow INEC’s guidelines for the conduct of the 2019 general elections. He said that the commission would inform stakeholders of the new date to conduct the election. In a related development, the people of Basambiri, in Nembe Local Government Area have debunked a statement credited to the Bayelsa State Government that elections did not take place in the community. Speaking to newsmen who went to monitor the election on Saturday, the Youth President of the community, Iruo Theo, the woman leader of the APC, Emmanuel Favour and Chief Agent Belele, said the election went on smoothly in the area. Belele, who is the Deputy Chief of the community, said those who did not come for the elections on Saturday were those that had their hands soiled in the killing of an APC member during the presidential election. He said contrary to the claims by the PDP members that the APC sympathisers chased them away from the community, he said it was the PDP thugs that killed an APC member. slivertongue:It's a straight forward case, it may even be decided before May 29th. |
Wow. |
If this is true, the courts will waste no time in upturning the election. |
nameo:The entire Tafawa Balewa LGA of about 140,000 registered voters was cancelled in addition to about 40,000 other registered voters elsewhere. |
nameo:In Bauchi cancelled polling units has 180,000 registered voters. Margin of win as of now in Bauchi is just 4,000 plus. |
Excaperx:APC will win Sokoto and Bauchi. |
OkaNaUbe:Una wahala too much. This is a democracy, let the other 90 plus political parties choose a combination that suits them. The masses are then free to vote for any pair that appeals to them most among the multitudes of political parties. From the nonsense you wrote above, it is obvious you are a bitter and hate-filled person. |
henryhemon: The incumbent governor and candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) polled 583,255 while his opponent, Jeremiah Useni, polled 538,326. |
Pascopele:Why the inaccurate information na?? APC is leading in Plateau with a very comfortable margin. The incumbent governor and candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) polled 583,255 while his opponent, Jeremiah Useni, polled 538,326. |
PDP would have won this one, if not for the proactive moves of the APC to wriggle itself out of the legal conundrum. |
garfield1:If this is correct, the run off will have to be between AA and PDP. |
seunmsg:Is it the simple majority rule that will apply in the case of a run off, or the 2/3 requirement will still be applied? |
seunmsg:This is it. |
ican2020:What of 2007 elections? Maurice Iwu's record cannot be broken by anyone. Iwu's INEC that will be announcing results in Abuja, while collation were still going on? In some places, people are still waiting for INEC materials but results were already announced in Abuja. |
Just a margin of 6,000 votes. APC still has chance of clinching this. APC social media influencers wants Ganduje out, but still wants APC to win Kano. ![]() |
Edodefender:He is talking about the 2nd requirement, before declaring someone winner. The person must have 25% of the votes in 2/3 local governments in the state, Which is 18 LGAs in Imo state. NB I dont know the voting figures over there, just clarifying the position of the law. |
