You come again with fresh lies early this morning.

UN deployed both Rooivalk and Mi-35 Hinds into same combat same time same operation, both performed same job well.

Dude, stop posting fantasies of lies on this forum, are me.ntally retaaarded or just fraudulent and shameless....or both ?

Good heavens, Google tells me the Tanzos are the only operator! shocked

Be that as it may, Augustine seemed to dismiss the Denel T5-52 155mm artillery system and I'm interested as to his reasoning.
In war, it's hard to fire artillery on targets 73 km away in a far away city, except you want to kill innocent civilians and incur the wrath of United Nations.

Real life war is NOT a video game. How do you do fire correction, can you see 73 km inside your enemy's territory? How do you even tie down the enemy constantly to same spot 73 km away, is the opposing army a foolish sitting duck ?

That's why the whole world is not rushing to buy artillery systems beyond 30 km range.

A photo thread this is, I don't wanna talk much bros.

Is the capability of an army judged by production numbers or the numbers in service?

What is I start counting Nigerian Alpha jets as 24 units and F-7 at 15 units just because we had that much acquired initially?

Everybody knows what this forum stands for....equipment currently in service.

You Southies were fraudulent with inflated claims of Olifant tank numbers until I used defenceweb 2013 SANDF ORBAT to burst your bubble.

Qatar has confirmed they would sign up for 24 Rafale fighter jets, in a deal worth 3.6 billion Euros.

After a slow start, Rafale's Grim fortunes seem to have dramatically turned, with an order for 24 Jets from Egypt (most likely paid for by both Saudi-Arabia and Qatar), 36 jets for India, and 24 for Qatar.

However, for such a hefty price tag, i'm left wondering what actually this jets does.

What can this jet do that it requires €150 million a pop for a darn single unit.

The F/A18 Super Hornet costs $60 million a unit and is better than the Rafale.

The SU-30sm/SU-35 also costs $60 million per unit, and is also better than the Rafale.

So what sorcery does the Rafale perform that makes it cost almost 3 times the F/A-18 Super hornet/ Su-30sm/35?
Same question I keep asking myself

16 AMX-30 tanks

These are simple facts. I am not debating with you on this topic because there is no debate.
Okay, Mr. Tanks Expert, you have accepted my correction, RHA is NOT Composite armour. I love your surrender grin grin

That encyclopaedia says Olifant Mk 1 B tanks have only RHA armour = ZERO composite armour !

44 units of Olifant tanks have composite armour....ONLY 44 units of Mk 1 B and Mk 2 mixed together.

I doubt any sub-saharan country can afford it.
Affording rocket assisted Denel artillery is not the issue...Does anybody need it? Tanzania has 100 km range mobile rocket artillery. Denel 73 km range is far less. Tanzania afforded to pay for a 100 km range artillery.....but what target are you going to war to hit 100 km away ? Is distance always that far in real life war? A whole city battle space may be just 20 km wide from city east to west.

"The SA Army currently owns up to 266 of the tanks in five variants: the Mk2, Mk1B and Mk1A MBT in addition to about 16 armoured recovery vehicles (ARV) and two armoured bridgelayers (ABL)."

RHA = RHA it's not same as composite armour with ceramics or plastics.

Spacing was done at to the bottom floor of the rank to protect from anti-tank land mines NOT composite armour dude !

"The glacis plate and nose of the hull have been upgraded with the addition of passive armour and the turret has been fitted with stand-off armour. The installation of a double-armour floor gives the crew additional protection against mines. The running gear is protected against HEAT missiles by new sideskirts."

FACT

[size=20pt]

Bwahahaha grin grin grin

That your weblink is suicidal, it says ALL SANDF Olifant Mk 1 B tanks have ONLY the RHA armour.

RHA is Rolled Homogenous Armour....ordinary plain steel.

"Rolled homogeneous armour (RHA) is a type of steel which is used to armour vehicles. RHA was in common use as primary armour until after World War II, during which a new generation of anti-tank rounds using shaped charges instead of heavy high-velocity projectiles came into use. RHA was ineffective against these and fell out of use."

Same armour on Nigeria's 136 Vickers eagle tank.....so you mean Nigeria too has tanks with composite armour.....136 tanks ! OMG this is hilarious....

Even ancient T-55 tanks have RHA armour you foool grin grin

RHA = Rolled Homogenous Armour

ERA = Explosive Reactive Armour

Composite/Passive = Mixture of steel with ceramics or plastics sandwiched

See, the 58 T-72 tanks in that weblink are the ones from Czech alone.....we bought ERA versions from Ukraine, their numbers are classified and SIPRI says their source is also classified but suspected to be Ukraine by SIPRI.

Now its 58 tanks from Czech by air, and more than double that number from Ukraine.

The Ukrainian T-72 for Nigeria were the first to be posted here, the factory manager in Ukraine was interviewed in the video and he said they are Nigerian T-72 tanks .....

But lets assume your source is correct

44+26 = ?

? = more tanks with composit and reactive armor than nigeria grin grin grin grin
Nope, of the 44 Olifant Mk 1 B, 26 were upgraded to MK 2.....not any extra 26 anywhere.

ALL the SANDF tanks with composite armour is 44 units.....a mix of Mk 1 B and Mk 2 combined.

"In September 2003, BAE Systems Land Systems OMC was awarded a contract to upgrade 13 Olifant Mk 1B tanks. New fire control system and target detection and engagement system with thermal imaging capability. A follow-on contract for a further 13 tanks upgraded to Olifant Mk 2 standard was awarded in September 2005. The Olifant mk2 entered service in 2007." [/b]

http://www.army-technology.com/projects/olifant/

Upgraded 44 Mk 1 A to Mk 1 B....then upgraded 26 Mk 1 B to Mk 2. That makes 44 tanks with composite armour, a mix of Mk 1 B and Mk 2.
