1. Ratel is not an IFV?

2. So your navy does not not buy for maritime warfare but instead for coast-guard duties?
1. Igirigi with 23 mm X Double Barrel Cannon is not an IFV ?

https://oi60.tinypic.com/2nl8pl1.jpg

2. So your navy does not buy for maritime security in peacetime and project Biro remains on a dust gathering piece of paper? Indian navy is now depending on Nigerian navy for help with maritime security

Indian navy bypassed South Africa, they sailed Indian ocean on your coastline and sailed to far up to Atlantic ocean to sign maritime security deal with Nigerian navy because South African submarines and warships are USELESS in peace time.

South Africa makes all of those things

That is why they are listed.

Argue like a man
Argue like a man Patches.

Argue like a man Patches, stop telling open lies and denying proved facts.

Since you say Nigeria does not produce what DICON, NACE, AFIT, PROFORCE etc have been proved to produce, it is quite clear that South Africa does NOT produce all those things you listed. Your list is false. You are an importing nation, you buy weapons and equipment irrationally.

SPECIAL VEHICLE PLANT (SVP) PROJECT

On 22nd January 1979 the Federal Government signed an agreement with Steyr Daimler Puch AG (Defence Division) of Austria. The agreement provides for the construction of Factory Building in Bauchi complete with all utilities, roads, rails and furniture for the production of Armoured Personnel carriers (APC).

The Factory was designed to assemble in 8 hours days shift the following, 300 units/yr 2 axles (4x4) Pinzgauer, 1 ton payload, 200 units/yrs 3 axles (6x) Pinzgauer; 1.5 ton payload, 140 units/yr Armoured Personnel Carriers; 45 unit/yr Command vehicles (APC); 10 units/yr Motor Carriers (ACP) and 5 units/yr Ambulances (APC). Factory buildings, Utilities, Roads, workshop equipment have all been completed and commissioned since 1982.

The SVP buildings are currently being utilized by the Nigerian Army for the maintenance and rehabilitation of Armoured fighting vehicles and Armoured Personnel Carriers under a contractual arrangement. Hopefully when the contract is completed the Factory would be handed back to DICON."

http://www.dicon.gov.ng/RD.html

Nigeria produces in Bauchi city DICON plant, this sand and mud mobile TRACKED Armoured Fighting Vehicles, in various configurations, 12.7 mm + 7.62 mm two machine guns , 81 mm self propelled mortar carrier, Command Post, Ambulance.

Just because Nigeria produces weapons like this that South Africa dos not produce, is not a reason for immature and senseless denial of truth.

Nigeria does not produce that vehicle nor do you have those variants

Why would South Africa want a tracked vehicle? Combat in Angola proved wheeled > Tracked

We buy according to our experience in multi-spectrum warfare... nigeria buys irratically
South Africa does NOT produce any IFV and you have no variants since you dont make them.

Why would Nigeria want a submarine to fight pirates? We buy based on experience in multi-spectrum warfare and threat. There is no navy vs navy war in Africa. South Africa buys irrationally.

@agaugust, abeg is your last pics too made in bauchi?
Yes, Nigerian produced the 4K 4FA tracked armoured vehicle. Very good armour with frontal protection against 20mm cannon shells.

We produced about 250 units in Bauchi city, including the APC variant, 81mm mortar carrier variant, and command post variant, armoured recovery vehicle, and ambulance.

Usually armed with one 12.7mm heavy machine gun and one 7.62mm light machine gun combined.

It's a very capable loose sand and thick mud terrain mobile vehicle.....South African army has NOTHING in it's class.

Also you have to stop posting Badger IFV as a South African product because all the 5 existing Badgers are made in Finland and shipped to South Africa.

Correction, 30 of those inshore patrol boats have already been delivered. The Navy is expecting to take delivery of 70 more vessels half are coming in from local suppliers while 35 are coming in from foreign vendors.
How come the navy is faster than the army in local content? Amazing, ths army gets a bigger annual budget all the time. The army just woke up now 2016 to step up beyond DICON level, with the new medium industry defense hardware manufacturing complex to be built urgently this year, likely to produce a lot of Russian weapons under license. I would love to see them produce Nigerian variants of 14.5mm, 23mm, 30mm cannon calibres, D-30 artillery and MT-LB tracked APC with 30mm cannon and 40mm AGL plus a PKT 7.65 mm machine gun to make it a cheap IFV of just $500,000 per unit, desert and mud land terrain mobile night combat capable high firepower armoured troop carrier that can travel around very well in those harsh terrain of North East Nigeria and the entire Sahel up to Sahara....force projection plus homeland defence combination.

1. New incoming guided missile fast attack crafts, 2 to 4 vessels
2. Hydrographic and Survery vessel, 1 ship
3. NNS Aradu frigate refit
4. New Landing Ship Tank, 1 vessel
5. NNS Andoni II MPV, 1 vessel
6. Fast inshore patrol boats, 30 vessels

Not a bad deal for one year. I think Buhari government wants to retool all 3 armed forces fairly according to the current threats and need of each force.

Good news for Nigeria's local defence industry just keeps getting better and better.
I have a feeling that Nigeria's next guided missile Frigate/Corvette will be built in Nigeria by our own domestic shipyards. India is trying to rival China and Pakistan in getting close to Nigerian military, the Indians have woken up and they don't want to be a world power with no big African partner in progress. They are seriously engaging Nigerian army too for cooperation, and NAF pilots are now in Indian air force bases doing stuff that is still classified.

AU needs a new war strategy in Somalia 2016. Lets end this war, AU is spending money for too many years without an end in sight. The countries fighting there have sacrificed a lot of soldiers lives.
