Seriously?

We make 4 types of guided missile, 1 type of cruise missile and are developing a BVR missile... you think we cant build a simple rocket pod?

It must be humiliating that the only thing you can actually make is a bunch of tubes welded together
You have NOT produced jet fighter rocket pod, we have done it.

Case Closed, we do what you have not achieved.

PRODUCTS DESIGNED, MANUFACTURED BY SOUTH AFRICA FOR SOUTH AFRICA

[size=13pt]

80% of South African domestic defence industry is your European white masters' companies branches opened in South Africa.

The technology you are boasting about is NOT yours ! Europe is sending all these technology directly to their factories branches in South Africa.

BAE is British, Reinmetall is German, SAAB is Swedish, THALES is French, Mectron is Brazillian.

The only thing you make alone is MRAP that you copied from Zimbabwe in the 1970s.

When South Africa tries to do high tech military products on it's own it fumbles and wobbles in failure....

DENEL could NOT build A-Darter missile until Brazil gave you the technology.

LinkZA data link failed to work as a real TDL because European companies refused to transfer the technology to South Africa.

Even your ordinary R-4 Rifle is a licenced copy of Israeli technology Galil rifle.

South African defence industry is 80% made by Europe on your land. Simple.

Show us what military technology that your Zulu-Bantu-Cape Colony dullards have created since Mandela took over power in 1994....Black Nigerian military officers have created weapons without any foreign help....show us Zulus brain work in your defence industry

Let me ask you THIZA, you have all these weapons and a big South African domestic arms manufacturing industry, but can SANDF fight and defeat Algeria that is importing 99% of its weapons? Algeria will dëstroy South Africa and your local arms industry will not save you from a stronger military force.

Your arms industry does not make you more powerful than countries who import weapons.

FACT !!!!

THIZA, we have seen your many photos, but your SANDF remains untested in battle.

South Africa has NEVER deployed Gripen jets and Hawk jets in any combat anywhere in the world, and your current army has never deployed more than 1,900 soldiers in any battle since Mandela rebuilt SADF into SANDF.

99% of the weapons you show us in photos have NEVER been tested by SANDF in battle.

So, your military remains good ONLY INSIDE PHOTOS, the very well experienced Nigerian military is constantly tested in war from 1990 till today 2016, so Naija is NOT your mate, SA compares to other untested military forces like Zambia and Togo Republic, that is the class SANDF belongs to, sit down hollywoood photo armed forces

Ok buddy, if it is so easy to fit IFF, why didn't you?
What makes you believe we have not fitted or will never fit it? You Southies thought our new Alpha Jets will remain de-militarized until NAF shocked you by reconfiguring the jets with made in Nigeria weapons. Who cares, we have many other radars with IFF and the whole of Nigerian air space is under total radar coverage with IFF already, so the mobile radars without IFF are covered by fixed radars with IFF.

Your small brain cannot think outside a small box of IFF on desert based radars in an FOB with zero air threat from Boko Haram.

If you don't need radar, then why did you buy the 36D in the first place?
Airspace management of remote area desert land forward airbase near borders closer to war zone than normal NAF airbases. Thats why we or any other country will be using vehicle mobile radars. That base can be moved around and shifted anytime, its a complement to fixed permanent airbases that have superior radars with 500km range.

Dude, IFF is a small box and simple buy, plug in, and play hardware that we can fix on those 36D Tin Shield rsdars in one day !

NAF just used its own air force engineers to completely reconfigure two demilitarized Alpha jets into fully weaponized combat aircraft, so what does it take to buy and plug in a simple IFF box on a radar if we need to?

-Gulma's to carry that load would need to increase their overall size. It won't be a challenge for NAF to arm them. The tech exists.

- for vessels, we have a wide array of companies that can deliver. It is in this area were i am most confident of our abilities to deliver.

- this is another area where we can comfortably deliver. Proforce Defence offers N.A a wide range of high quality platforms.

Proforce Leopard, Proforce Viper, the Igirigi could be configured to look like this (Pic).

The possibilities are looking limitless!
Our time has come

2016 budget provides a couple of millions of dollars for the new Nigerian domestic defence industry revolution committee of technocrats.

Russia is about to sign weapons manufacturing licenses for Nigerian domestic arms industry, don't be surprised if Nigeria starts local poduction of our variants of Russian ATGM, howitzer artillery, MANPAD SAMs, ZPU-14.5mm heavy machine guns, ZSU-23mm cannon, Shipunov 30mm cannon, etc.

I was expecting Nigerian army to do the new arms industry deal with China, but we have chosen Russia. Nigerian navy chose China and a big multinational firm from UAE for local ship building and refit capability expansion to first class world levels.

I differ on missiles.

My first and only priority is to build local capacity to design, build and deliver vessels of all sizes to the Nigerian navy, in good time and quality.

Missiles can always be bought and would expire, but the capacity to build your own vessels is timeless. I'd rather we concentrate on building and delivering 50 - 90 meters vessels for the navy. The navy buys a lot of IPVs from local manufacturers, but i do not like the sizes they seem to be coming in at.

The threats we would continue to face for the foreseeable future would continue to remain internal. Let us deliver ships, modular enough to receive missiles in the future, but tailored to deal with our current threats. No imported, but local designs and manufactures.
I agree 100%.

NN builds all 35m to 42m MPVs at home. Try get missile installation capacity reserved and ready at home. In a sudden war, NN can transform 10 modular MPVs into missile armed combat vessels with 30mm to 76mm main guns for EEZ sea dominance in one week.

Indigenization is a priority. Just perfect!
I am convinced that:

1. NAF can arm Gulma drones with very light weight guided missiles or unguided folding fin rockets all home made.

2. NN can locally build modern fast attack crafts and and arm them with missiles/main guns from China

3. NA can build 70mm mobile rocket launchers at home and mount on Igirigi, we can also build Igirigi 120mm mortar carrier variants at home

Lightly armed Gulma UAV would be great for NA, imagine a squadron of 24 such Gulma drones all over NE all owned by Nigerian army

The non-militarisation of the Alpha-Jets made them unsuitable for deployment to the North East and they are currently deployed only for training at NAF Kainji.

Strapping a rocket pod onto a hard-point does not mean it is militarized. Our Pilutus PC-9's have hard points... are they now warplanes?
It's a bad week for Patches, your source is TOTALLY outdated. NAF engineers have locally weaponized and militarized our new American Alpha jets, we bought 4 of them, 2 have landed and are now fully armed, tested, weapons fired, combat capable, and deployed in war zone.

Nigerian Airforce reconfigures Trainer aircraft bought from USA

ON JANUARY 26, 20161:21 PMIN NEWSCOMMENTS
By Kingsley Omonobi-Abuja
________________________________________________________

As part of efforts to attain self sufficiency in the maintenance of aircraft needed for training of fighter pilots, the Nigeria Airforce has successfully reconfigured two (2) demilitarized Alpha jets in its inventory for combat roles in the North East and other operations.

Making the disclosure Tuesday, Director of Airforce Public Relations and Information, Group Captain Ayodele Famuyiwa said, “The Nigerian Air Force, in its bid for increased self-reliance, has successfully reconfigured 2 demilitarized Alpha Jet in its inventory that were hitherto acquired without weapon delivery capability.

“The 2 aircraft are among the 4 Alpha Jets bought from the United States in 2015 by the immediate past administration to enhance the operational capability of the NAF to combat Boko Haram insurgency in the North East.

“However, the aircraft could not be deployed to the theatre of operation before now due to the inherent weapon delivery deficiency hence its limited use for training purposes”, the statement said.

“The urgent need, in recent times, to commit more NAF platforms to ‘Operation Lafiya Dole’ to enhance the success of the counter insurgency operation necessitated the Service to look inward to seek ways of achieving its drive for self reliance through research and development” it added.

“The NAF had earlier looked overseas for assistance without much success to get the aircraft reconfigured for combat roles. A number of vendors invited to Nigeria to assess the platforms had concluded that it would be difficult or almost impossible to undertake the project since the original equipment manufacturer had long closed down the production line”.

“A few others who agreed to the possibility of having the aircraft reconfigured to carry munitions also submitted proposals for initial assessment fees ranging from $20,000 – $30,000 before they could come up with the actual cost of the project.

“Convinced that the project would work, the NAF consequently assembled a team of technicians to develop a feasible model for the project. The weapons model worked on ground, and the weapons has since been mounted on the Alpha Jets, and test flown successfully.

“This feat is a major research and development breakthrough for the NAF and the Nation as a huge foreign exchange saver given that the project only cost about N400, 000.00 compared to what would be required to have it done abroad” the statement concluded.

The Committee observed that the radars were delivered without the vital component of Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) that distinguishes between own and adversary aircraft, which has significantly degraded the operational capabilities of the NAF in the North East.

Y paid Thirty Three Million US Dollars for a Civilian grade radar without IFF which normally only costs 6 cool cool
Boko Haram has no air force and is ZERO air threat. All we need today is the 36D radar 175km detection range, every aircraft approaching NAF base is ours or a friendly, Boko Haram our enemy has ZERO air force, NAF owns the entire skies of Nigeria, so what good is the IFF in such a war? No use really.

IFF is a small piece of hardware, when we need it we will get it, and who knows we might have got it already, NAF is buying and shopping this year 2016 worth millions of dollars, and a military radar rehabilitation budget has been made for 2016 worth millions of dollars to be funded by ministry of works under 'extra-budgetary defence spending'.

Thutlwa detection max range 120 km

36D detection max range 175 km

Finito.

More than 150,000 Eritrean soldiers were killed during the secession war from Ethiopia between 1998 and 2000. At the time Eritrea had about four million people.

Either ethiopians are really, really good fighters

Or Eritreans are really, really bad fighters
The figures are wrong for the date time window, Eritrean session war lasted decades, not the 2 year Badme border war. Also ask Ethiopia to release their own casualty figures to compare. ICG International crisis group says about 300,000 soldiers died on both sides in Badme war and about 150,000 each side. Truth may never be known. Eritrea is said by some analysts to have the best 'natural aptitude' infantry/foot soldiers in Africa, but I know the Ethiopians fear them.

Morocco's navy bought second hand Exocet missiles for some of her new guided missile corvettes.

$4 million will put such Exocet block II missiles on NNS Anyam, she currently has missile launchers for Exocet Block I, but the missiles faulty from manufacturer in France, led to a hot contract dispute, not sure, but the French might have sent us replacement missiles, I don't know.

NNS Anyam is still deadly because she also has anti-ship torpedoes with about 30km range, the point is, no enemy frigate can stop Anyam's torpedoes with CIWS, the torpedoes move underwater, making the NNS Anyam like a 'surfaced attack submarine'
