How? Why?

Give us specifications, details.

No one cares about your plebeian opinion
NAF has the Diamond DA42 with ISR capability, go through the specs in detail before hugging a 10,000 volts transformer so y.ou can see a good reason why y.ou need suicide

NAF is a beautiful Diamond in the sky !

SANDF doesnt need to be rebuilt

We have been top dogs since independence
So why are you hungry for Bad-ger IFV and stealth OPV since you have no reason to rebuild SANDF ?

Plus your air force jets have NO single BVR missile, so you won't rebuild ? cheesycheesy

No need of citation, published aircraft inventory list of SAAF officially shows NO purchased of any ISTAR aircraft in the last 20 years cheesy cheesy

Modernised in South Africa by a South African Firm, I knew a Country like Nigeria wouldn't be able to resist this kind of awesome upgrade

All bullsh!t aside think N.A.F made a great choice with this one, I can't wait to hear about how they perform in combat.
GreenandGold:
In the meantime, Nigeria (a nation of barbers) begged South Africa to modernize her aged and useless Hinds.

Now thank to South Africa, Nigerians have a chance of flying a machine with 21st century avionics.

Thank you South Africa
Show proof from South Africa of NAF to prove your above claims....We don't entertain guess work or hear say !

You are making allot of assertions and providing very little proof to substantiate your claims.
Your own photos clearly proved him right, Badger IFV design is bad, the 360 degree eye is full exposed to snipers who will blast it off.

Badger goes blind like a street beggar and IFV gets killed plus the 10 soldiers inside cheesycheesy

And yet, despite your petulant tantrum, production of the first batch of 236 starts this year.

Unlike Nigerias pathetic purchase of a paltry 5 units, we are placing a substantial order

Unlike Nigeria's off the shelf purchase of a vehical designed to operate in Europe, we have spent time and money adapting it to our conditions

Unlike Nigeria's off the shelf purchase, we will be making 70% of the vehical with south african technology, skills and equipment - a true marvel of African Engineering.

Patria is the master of African IFV's
Nigeria's BTR-4 current numbers are top secret, and more can be purchased as time goes on.

South African army has NO SINGLE Badger IFV in service today

READ - It clearly states it can withstand 8kg of TNT, meanwhile the BRT-4 is a death trap.
That is NOT body armour dude, that is chassis under belly against land mines which MRAPS are supposed to do, NOT IFV.

BTR-4 has ground clearance to reduce IED threat. How many IEDs will you meet in a modern day war when land mines have been largely banned? Only insurgents use them, and BTR-4 has protection from basic IED.

You don't need land mine to kill Badger IFV, just Boko Haram 12.7mm machine guns will cut into the Badger like my finger pierces butter cheesycheesy

All your 10 soldiers will d.ie inside the Badger when Bokos open fire with browning machine guns

Has it ever occurred to you that we perhaps are using the same armor modules?

The only thing we changed in terms of armor is to upgrade the mine protection.
Both standard Patria and Badger armour have protection only against small arms. So what ?

How is a pleasure cruiser sophisticated?

How does it compare to the Valour Class and Heroine Class?
Valour ship and Heroine submarine are NOT built for effective maritime patrolling. You forgot how hungry South Africa is to buy modern IPV, MPV, and OPVs, you almost shiiit in your paaants here last month crying for imaginary IPVs and OPVs, swearing to to your village idols that ANC will buy 10 OPVs for your navy despite being broke....you have a short memory dude !

Yes sure, whatever you say.

Fact is that after the sniper shot the Badger has the same situational awareness as the BTR
Badger camera is exposed fully to snipers, BTR-4 camera is securely located under other steel frames.

Yes, back up systems will not be as good as primary systems or else the two systems make each other redundant

Your BTR has no 360 degree scope in the first place.

Hence the badger is superior.
BTR-4 has periscope dude, cant't you read ? TKN-3MU combined day/night periscope.....Olodo gringringrin

The BTR-4 also has a 360 degree view camera and video-tv, plus a 180 degree armoured glass view which Badger does not have

You mean the LAV? Because that is their only amphibious vehical, and it is being phased out in favor of the non amphibious stryker

USA is not developing anything amphibious - amphibious IFVs are a relic of cold war doctrine because they sacrifice too much armor and are sitting ducks .

The only modern armoured vehicals that need amphibious capabilities are Recon

Brand new Badgers begin production THIS YEAR with 2015 equipment and technology - compared to your obsolete BTR-4 which is nothing more than a BTR-3 with a new engine.

You say the BTR is more advanced - show us how. Give us specifications.
I have posted specs from website tanknutdave and video of detailed specs on youtube and proved BTR-4 is superior to the Badger.

The locomotive smoke puffing engine alone has rendered the Badger IFV obsolete as at today 2015, don't even mention specs tonguetonguetongue

Meanwhile, in the jail cage where you are incarcerated in ANC prison yard, you are not aware that America is building new sophisticated amphibious IFV in a desperate effort to match the Russians who are too far ahead of USA in amphibious vehicle capability.

"The US Marine Corps’ AAVP7 Amtracs have been their primary ship to shore amphibious armored personnel carrier for a long time; the AAV7A1 was initially fielded in 1972, and underwent a major service life extension program and product improvement program from 1983-1993.

The personnel version of the new EFVs would carry a crew of 3, plus a reinforced rifle squad of 17 combat-loaded Marines. A high-tech weapons station would provide firepower. The EFV was expected to come in 2 main variants: EFV-P infantry fighting vehicles, and EFV-C command vehicles."

Who cares, we have 4 stealth frigates, we need only 1 to sink your coast guard.
Who cares, we have 11 NAF F-7 jet fighters, we need only 1 sink your Stealth frigate.

F-7 jet speed is as fast as Umkhonto missile, so we can waste all your anti-aircraft missiles, and rocket the SAN frigate after that. Simple

Here's your argument:

1. SAAF uses old platforms in the ISTAR, ELINT and COMINT roles.

Conclusion: SAAF is behind NAF.

Reality: You're wrong.

Well you're foo..led as you don't consider what's packed inside them. SA EW systems or equipment are acknowledged the world over.

They're not combat aircraft theirs is to fly.

Its official FIB will soon continue combat operations.

This round of fighting will be difficult, as it is more like COIN in thee jungle.

Any day or weeks from now SA, Malawi and Tanzanian forces will be in action.
....but you said last year that SAAF Rooivalk has eliminated the whole M23 Rebel force with a magic wand, so whom are you fighting again one year after? Congolese government or the UN is fighting itself? cheesycheesy

Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by agaugust: 10:01pm On Jan 02, 2015

You don't know.

SAAF has better capabilities. Tell us what does SAAF use for COMINT, ELINT, Radar location and more?
SAAF uses old airframes of 1980s vintage like Oryx, Cessna, Dakota grand-papa 1950s generation.

SAAF is 66 years behind NAF in ISTAR technology.

NAF Diamond is a year 2000s ultra-modern aircraft that you wish you had, but you do not tonguetonguetongue

Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by agaugust: 9:54pm On Jan 02, 2015
MikeCZAR:
All those are irrelevant as they won't help Nigeria defend her waters against enemy combat vessels.

-No missiles.
-No surface capability.
-No sub-surface capability.
-No anti-submarine capability.

Basically your navy cannot fight. They are just a coast guard.
All Nigerian armed forces are currently being rearmed and rebuilt, see the new Mi-35 upgrade photo posted today by Henry.

Watch out for Nigerian navy, we are coming slow and steady, that's how we work wonders !
.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by agaugust: 8:56pm On Jan 02, 2015
MikeCZAR:
Different vehicles with different set of capabilities.

Mortar capability(indirect attack).
Missile capability(Anti-armour).
Gun capability(Fire support).
Infantry capability(Assault).

And more.

These vehicles deliver heavily armed troops in your back yard. Often supported by light armour(Rooikat).

Futile to attack vehicles when you infantry assaulting your position.
All those options of weapons are available on BTR-4 if we want to mix versions.

BTR-4 also has Automatic Grenade Launchers.

Problem for your versions of Badger is that SANDF has NONE of them in service today....maybe dreams can come true for SANDF in year 2020....by then the Badger design is obsolete....Nation of fools, struggling to induct one IFV into service for 10 years now, nothing inside your armoury...NO Badger IFV....we proved SANDF has NO SINGLE Badger tonguetonguetongue

Unable and ineffective against pirates.

No missiles.
No surface combat capability.
No sub-surface capability.
No counter-subsurface capability.
No counter-mine capability.
Maybe the random smoke puffing out of the Obsolescent Badger IFV engine has entered your nose into your brain, you don't need all those missiles and submarines to fight pirates, reason why South Africa is desperate to buy OPV now but no money.

SAN has NO single

• Stealth Combat Catamaran
• Stealth MPV
• Stealth OPV
• Ship with modern Solid state radar
• High spead ocean interceptor
• Flat hull swamp boat
• Long endurance ship with range to sail around Africa without refuelling
• War experience in large scale amphibious invasion and sea to land bombardment

Because we chose armor over amphib

Just like the Americans with the Bradley
America has current amphibious IFV in service, and they are fast developing more with very advanced tech to match Russian amphibious IFV. Stop comparing America and South Africa, they are far far very very far above your low class.

What Badger armour? It has protection only against small arms fire, RPG will tear Badger IFV into pieces when your dream probably comes through and you buy it in year 2020.

By that year the Badger design is already outdated....15 years long waiting period will kill it's technical relevance in 2020 grin grin

5 are in service, 16 on the way - fact, proven with citations

You have yet to provide any evidence to show that the BTR is in any way superior.

Badger is:

- better armoured
- better armed
- better optics/electronics
- mine protected
- carrys more men
- has a longer range
- more adaptable and versatile
- has a better combat record
- amphibious
