4 000 mean faced 150 000 men in Angola.... and yet the 4 000 came of tops year after year

You big slow formations cannot handle our maneuver warfare, and will make a nice target for our superior artillery and air-power
[size=14pt]

Lies ! Lies !! Lies !!!

No where in modern war has 4,000 men fought against 150,000 men and survived in heavy ratio 1:35

300 SANDF ran away from 1,500 Seleka rebels in C.A.R. in only ratio 1:5

Angolan bush war was 4,000 SADF frontline, 18,000 SADF rear-guard near home lines, and 120,000 UNITA army frontline beside the 4,000 SADF, shows that the war was actually the work of 120,000 UNITA rebels of Angola, SADF was NOT able to fight the war alone.

South African army NEVER fights war alone, always needs help from another better army tongue tongue

Those numbers are straight up fraudulent

Makopa can be fired at any distance up to 10km, the Army Cheif did not complain about the Makopa's use for us - he was referring to other underdeveloped countries

Artillery generally fights at long range

FH-77B has a maximum range of only 30,000 m when using advanced HEER Ammunition - which you do not have. Your actual maximum range with standard ammunition is 24km

G5 and G6 have maximum ranged in excess of 55km

Nigerian Army cannot encirlce a high-mobility army like the SANDF. They cannot even encircle towns held by Boko Haram.

You do not need battle-experience to know how to fire your artillery peice - just training (nigeria has very little)

7 Killer blows to your entire post.

NEXT!
Yes Next...

The numbers you call fraud include your South African trusted source DefenceWeb

SAAF chief did not say foreign armies, he said ARMIES are not comfortable with Mokopa useless range that is not practicable, and ARMIES include SANDF.

Boko Haram lives surrounded in any city they invade, Nigeria surrounds them, that's why they keep getting uprooted and flee from town to town, Damboa, Konduga, Mubi....Boko keeps running and abandoning their proclaimed Islamic caliphate, they leave their 'kingdom' when Nigerian army begins slaughter by fire.

Base Bleed Bofors range is 41km, ownership of base bleed is common and arms sales logs don't care record it.

Extended range Excalibur for Bofors has range 60km.

South African army like Nigerian army have base bleed, but both armies have no rocket assist shells in service.

SANDF G-6 and G-5 base bleed range is 38km, while Nigeria is 41km. We beat you on shell range and numbers of guns.

You have to live with these facts even though they hurt and haunt you daily tongue tongue

Nigeria has 130 000 army+air force+navy.

You have 80 000 army personnel.
Nigerian army is 130,000 regular and 32,000 reserves before new massive recruitment for Boko war.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nigerian_Army

Current regular Nigerian army is 150,000 and add reserves we have 182,000 men.

Add Air force and Navy, Nigeria has over 200,000 men while South Africa is dwarfed with your manpower shortage at 72,000 men including all regular and reserves.

Nigerian army will completely surround SANDF and cage you and squeeze you into the center like rats caught in a mouse trap tongue tongue

Nigeria only has 364 feild guns - so yet again you have lied to us.

All of which are outranged and outgunned by our 115 guns

All that will be left of your 364 guns is smoldering ash and the bones of gunners.
Stop all this rubbish of saying someone is lying and give this forum a little decency, try face an intelligent debate.

Nigerian army artillery guns are well over 700 units, check SIPRI, Wikipedia, Beegeagle and Defenceweb, count all the different artillery types and numbers then add them all up, D-30, OTO Melara and M-56 Yugo alone are 600 artillery guns in Nigeria without counting Bofors and Palmaria, then the M46, D-20 and D-74 artillery too.

Now to the real life battlefield.....

What gives you impression that armies at war are always over 20km apart and away from each other?

How do tanks and infantry fight at that range?

Even your SAAF chief complains that at too long a range like Mokopa 10km, an army will lose accuracy of fire.

Wars are not fought and won 20km distance away, armies have to close-in and engage.

50,000 SANDF will face 150,000 Nigerian army that will completely encircle you like a round ring of fire and crush SANDF into the centre.

Anyway, Nigerian Bofors FH-77B artillery has range 41km, superior to SANDF G-6 artillery range of 39km

Bofors 73

Palmaria 50

M-56 Yugo 200

D-30 and M-series 200

Oto Melara about 150

M-46, D-20, etc over 20

Over 660 units.

Current SANDF artillery corps have ZERO war experience in the last 20 years, Nigerian artillery has constant and regular war experience since 20 years ago up till today as we speak

I hope we can sustain it, and replace the Otokar with these. I've got High hopes with the coming on stream of the Automotive plan. Build an amphibious variant, a recovery variant and an ambulance variant.
We need to use it to replace Otokar Cobra. We need many variants, as many variants as Otokar Cobra has.

All Nigerian military, para-military, police, and intelligence/security services need Igirigi with armament and variant according to their level of threat and role.

Maybe in the next 5 years, FG should pump money into Igirigi, the market demand at home is large. my estimates

NA....10,000 units
NAF....500 units
NN.....500 units
NPF.....10,000 units
NSCDC....1,000 units
DSS/SSS....500 units
Immigration.....500 units
Customs.....500 units

Export market in Africa is also large, West Africa, Central Africa, it is cheap and affordable, will beat expensive rivals like $250,000 Cobra.

My guess, wild guess is Igirigi cost maybe about $100,000 per unit.

Prices usually does not include armament, you mount whatever you want as long as vehicle can carry and fire the weapon within vehicle's technical capacity limits

A combined team of local hunters, civilian JTF and the Nigerian soldiers on Wednesday night launched a fierce battle against Boko Haram insurgents and recaptured Mubi and its environ, which had earlier fell into the hands of the sect.

Reports from Mubi also indicated that five Nigerian Armoured Personnel Carriers, seized by the dreaded Islamists in the area, were recovered when the insurgents fled the town.

A source in Mubi indicated that there were jubilation as people were seen trooping out to show solidarity with the local hunters and the civilian JTF.

No fewer than 100 Boko Haram members were said to have been either killed or injured by the hunters.

The source further disclosed that the 234 Army Battalion as well as other security formations in the area, which fell into the hands of the insurgents, had been recovered and the soldiers were seen trooping in and out of the barracks and taking strategic positions.

Our correspondent learnt that all the flags hoisted by the insurgents in some government quarters were destroyed and replaced by the Nigerian flags while the Emir’s palace converted to the sect’s “Madinatul Islam” has now been taken over by the Nigerian team.

Other sources said the development had given the people hope that the insurgents would be completely chased out of Mubi, Michika, and Madagali. All these council areas had fallen into the hands of insurgents.

Adamawa State Governor Bala James Ngillari said in Yola on Thursday that the insurgents had been flushed out of Mubi. He said the government thanked those who risked their lives to confront the insurgents.

“This is time for all of us to rejoice as the success recorded in the fight against Boko Haram insurgents is the handwork of God,” he said

The terrorists arrived suddenly at 4:00 p.m. that ill-fated Wednesday, November 5, catching the Nigerian soldiers and their commanders off-guard. As they invaded the headquarters of the 174 Battalion, Abadan Local Government Area of Borno State, located close to the Nigerian border with Niger, the Boko Haram insurgents, in hundreds, began to shoot sporadically in all directions.

According to witnesses, the terrorists were led into the battalion headquarters by insurgents bearing a number of Rocket Propelled Grenades (a shoulder-launched anti-tank weapon) and machine guns mounted on Hilux vans. Other insurgents, bearing AK-47 rifles, followed behind, shooting and chanting "Allahu Akbar! Allahu Akbar" (May God be praised).

For minutes, the attackers were repelled by Nigerian soldiers who returned fire, and at some point, appeared to be gaining the upper hand, our sources said.

But the troops capitulated shortly after more insurgents advanced on the camp from several directions, hurling grenades at them and shooting non-stop, our sources said. The soldiers fled the scene as it became clear they were less armed and prepared for battle.

http://allafrica.com/stories/201411130220.html

Several Nigerian soldiers who took part in the fighting have narrated how Boko Haram secured yet again another victory over government forces, a defeat they blamed on their arms and the morale of the fighting force.

Boko Haram has seized many towns and communities in recent months, sacking security facilities while soldiers flee, in what appears the worst defeat yet for the Nigerian military since the insurgents launched a bloody campaign in 2009.

The 174 Battalion, which was moved from its Lagos base to the Nigerien border in Nigeria's bid to rev up the war against the extremist Boko Haram sect, had over 300 soldiers. Over a thousand insurgents attacked the troops, witnesses said.

Before long, military insiders said, the soldiers began to abandon the battle in droves, throwing away their uniforms and yielding their arms to the terrorists. The terrorists followed in pursuit as majority of the soldiers and officers fled across the border into neighbouring Niger where some of them were hospitalized.

A yet unknown number of soldiers were killed; some declared missing while several others were injured, our sources said.

After the Nigerian soldiers fled, military officials said, the Boko Haram insurgents ransacked the camp, looting the battalion armoury and offices.

"They went away with every weapon we had," one of the soldiers who partook in the battle told PREMIUM TIMES. "RPGs, armoured tanks, rifles, ammunition, I mean everything. As we are now, we have nothing. They have gone away with everything."

He added, "We were simply overpowered. They were far more in number and the weapons they carried were far more than what we had. They could have finished all of us if we hadn't fled."

The spokesperson of the Defence Headquarters, Chris Olukolade, did not answer or return calls seeking comment for this story.

But a top military commander, who asked not to be named because he was not authorized to speak on the matter, confirmed the incident to PREMIUM TIMES.

"I can't confirm to you that it happened but we have managed to bring back the soldiers to Nigeria," the general said. "The matter is being investigated."

He blamed the incident on cowardice by soldiers of the battalion saying, "Initially, they were talking of weapons. But the weapons have started arriving. The problem now is the mentality of our soldiers. A lot of them are just cowards and should not have been recruited into the Army in the first place. The fact is if you don't have the mentality of a soldier, you can't fight a battle no matter the sophistication of your arm."

The November 5 attack on the battalion was the second on the formation by Boko Haram. On August 4, 2013, the insurgents attacked the battalion, killing 15 soldiers and wounding several others.

Before the November 5 attack, some soldiers of the battalion had told PREMIUM TIMES their morale was at an all-time low.

"A lot of us have been here for more than two years without being allowed to see our family," one soldier said "We were to be here for six months but we have now been abandoned here for two years. We are missing our families and our morale is zero. Some of us are even considering going on AWOL (away without official leave)."
Fake story, read the bolded part....Nigerian army 174 battalion has about 300 soldiers....LOL grin

No full battalion in Nigeria is less than 600 soldiers grin

Anyway, premium times is known for cooking up stories that no other news media is confirming grin

Swingfire is not expensive at all, it is an outdated anti-tank weapon. BH is roving around with APCs and tanks which are way more expensive that swingfire. Do you mean you won't sacrifice even one swingfire just to send a strong message to insurgents not to take you for a ride. In the mean time, insurgents are using those tanks for their own advantage to defeat your army. Chief, I rest my case, Nigeria does not have operational anti-tank missiles. Ratels will consume all your army without any resistance.
Swingfire missile costs say $50,000 but RPG HEAT costs say $1,000.

That is a clear prove that Nigeria has now become a shadow of what it used to be without anti-tank weapons.
Only a foolish army like South Africa will use high value missiles against low value Boko Haram APCs when a single cheap hand held Nigerian army RPG will wreck Boko APCs, Nigeria has thousands of RPGs.

I thought you said you are a soldier, so you don't know RPG with HEAT shell as cheap as it is, will destroy T-55 tanks and APCs ?

No wonder SANDF was under Tanzanian army control in Congo DRC, you guys are more like glorified policemen.

Egypt and oil rich Saudi Arabia are still using the same Swingfire today, so obsolete in your dreams. Ratel itself is an obsolete vehicle, and Valour frigates Exocet block II became obsolete as block III replaced them in France. South African navy frigates have no missiles that can kill.

Simple.

I never said they don't have. I know that Nigeria acquired swingfire way back in the early 80's, but my words was " are there still any operational missiles available? You might have heavy weapons in your arsenal but the question will depend on how many of them are still operational. However, I still stand by my words, Nigeria does not have any operational anti-tank missiles.
Nigeria bought Swingfire about same time with Roland, we display the Roland till today, so the missiles are good. We do not display the Swingfire same way we don't display our army SA-7 missiles and Blowpipe missiles too. We are not Photomaniacs like you show boys who don't know real war except under Tanzanian leadership commanding SANDF like Masai cattle rearers control cows in the field.
