Fighter Pilot: What does producing unreliable products have to do with war?
Since you say their products are not reliable, you can go challenge them and 'win'...just show your confidence in your own 'better' weapons.

Okay then, let South African Navy sail to China and attack them tomorrow, make sure you travel with them.

Nigeria has no ELINT or EW plane. The ATR-42MP which it operates is a maritime surveillance or patrol aircraft.
we nigerians have posted till we got tired with sources and photos on our ATR-42 Surveyor ELINT, ESM, ECM, EW, and ECCM.

i wont repeat it because it is well know on this forum that anythime we mention our NAF ATR-42 mighty Surveyor aircraft, all south africans on nairaland begin to tremble as if a supreme court judge is about to sentence them to death by hanging....

so write/sign your final will and kiss your wife goodbye before you watch this video, because you may need to hang yourself from the ceiling fan.

ELINT upgrade video, see the new 'hump' at the back of the aircraft.

No problem there. It shows how the BIG BROTHER(South Africa) is helping the smaller brother(Nigeria) to get up. Economy? Pssfffffff. China is the second biggest economy in the world but we know they still rely on Europe for weapons. We again know Russia can defeat them without usage of nuclear weapons. 1. Britain produces better weapons than China 2. France produces better weapons than China. 3. German produces better weapons than China 4. Spain produces better weapons than China 5. Italy produces better weapons than China. 6. Israel produces better weapons than China. 7. South Africa produces better weapons than China 8. Sweden produces better weapons than China 8. Finland produces better weapons than China..............The list is endless......Your copy masters can be defeated by the USA too.
All those NATO countries you mentioned have NEVER produced one single stealth jet fighter in all their lives as European and world super powers.

China that you are insulting has produced a stealth jet fighter and nuclear powered submarines.

China is the 3rd military super power in the world after only America and Russia.

the white nations of Europe and America can go eat their technology, Nigeria has found a new way to greatness....

Nigeria is now China's partner as we get latest military technology now. Watch out South Africa, China will make Nigeria to overtake you in defence industry and weapons development/manufacturing likely in the next 5 years.

How Upgraded F-7, MiG-21 Jet Fighters Vs F-16, F-18, MiG-29, Gripen Jets....

....Are Rated In Worldwide Military Opinion Forums

Pakistani F-7 jets are the counterpart of Indian MiG 21 Bison and Romanian MiG 21 Lancers, these 3 jets are upgraded to fight and survive against F-16 jets, F-18, MiG 29, Gripen and other 4th generation light jet fighters in that class.

Romania retired all MiG 29 jets and replaced them with moderninzed MiG 21 Jets for its NATO air power operations...that tells you something.

F-7 NI jet is still superior to MiG 21 Lancer and Bison because of the new F-7 jet swept wing and bubble canopy for extra capacity in dog fight maneuvers, ground attack maneuvers and enemy aircraft spotting in visual range combat. The only area the MiG 21 Lancer and Bison have an edge is beyond visual range radar and missiles.

Now let us read what other military forums around the world are saying, some of the commentators are real jet fighter pilots in the best air forces of the world today....surprises for you if you read :

"The MiG-21 LanceR is still a MiG-21, the airframe is the same, while the engine suffered minor modifications. However, just as long the radar and weapons systems installed onboard will be competitive, just as long the helmet mounted display and firing system will continue to represent the edge of technology, and just as long the Romanian fighter pilots will continue to win international exercises, the MiG-21 Lancer will remain a formidable opponent, often under-evaluated by foreign analysts.

Some will argue that they have the best planes in the world and no MiG-21, no matter what it carries onboard, will ever be able to face an F-15, F-18 or F-16 in combat. Well, all those pilots who have flown the Lancer, may they be French, American, Dutch, Belgian or British have been extremely impressed of its performances and the American fighter pilots have stated that the Lancer has real chances to win a dogfight with any of their fighters.

A No.20 Sqn 'Cheetahs' F-7PG aircraft doing effective low-level attack as in the weblink below. This air superiority squadron is tasked with day/night air superiority and day ground attack /Close-Air-Support (CAS) to ground forces. No.20 Sqn has been a vital fighting element of PAF since more than past 55 years. Over the years this unit has performed in Tactial Reconnaissance, Tactial day/night attack and air-superiority roles.

The pilot also says the IAF’s MiG-21 Bison aircraft, modified with Israeli radar, active radar missiles and electronic jammers, are nearly “invisible” to the F-15 and F-16’s current mechanically-scanned arrays, allowing the Indian pilots to sneak past the USAF radar screen and engage the F-15s and F-16s in dogfights.

“The MiG-21 had the ability to get in the scissors with you at 110kts at 60 degrees nose high and go from 10,000 to 20,000

feet,” he said.

http://defenceforumindia.com/forum/defence-strategic-issues/22338-indian-mig-21-bison-v-s-paf-jf-17-has-edge-2.html

Draft copy of the exercise Cope India report says:

While the superb performances of IAF Sukhoi-30s were somewhat anticipated, the performance of MiG-21Bison came as a major

“unpleasant surprise” to the USAF officials. It also validates the claim of the Russian officials that they are capable of successfully converting “second generation” late-model MiG-21bis fighters to “fourth generation combat platforms”. Inherently the significant positive attributes enjoyed by MiG-21s were their dog fighting ability in WVR (Within Visual Range) combat. Even the earlier models had a low corner velocity of 556 kilometers per hour and at Mach 0.5 had an instantaneous turn rate of 11.1 degrees per second. The MiG-21Bison with more powerful R-25 engines not only considerably bettered this performance but it may also be credited with “jackrabbit” acceleration, a very critical attribute in WVR combat.

A well flown Mig 21 is worth half a dozen badly flown F22's or F35's .

http://forum.keypublishing.com/showthread.php?121375-MiG-21-still-unpleasant-surprise-at-Cope-India-exercise-how-so

http://www.amazon.com/Fighter-Perfor...6439329&sr=1-1

Among many fourth generations attributes added to the IAF MiG-21Bison design, the incorporation of HMS (Helmet Mounted Sight) and high-off-boresight R-73RDM2 NBVR/WVR (Near Beyond Visual Range/Within Visual Range) AAMs (Air-to-Air Missiles) have turned it into a “Great Equalizer” in the WVR combat scenario. Conceptually a small number of MiG-21Bisons maintaining “radar silence” can be guided towards their aerial target by a couple of Sukhoi-30s by secure data links in accordance with MFFC (Mixed Fighter Force Concept).

Upon entering into an WVR combat envelope the MiG-21 Bisons armed with HMS and deadly NBVR/WVR missiles had the capability of destroying even 5th generation jet fighters like F-22 Raptor as assessed by high-profile Jet Fighter Pilot and Analyst Ben Lambeth of RAND Corporation. According to Lambeth “in visual combat everybody dies at the same rate.”

F/A-22 also has to slow down if forced into a WVR combat scenario and loses the advantage of its super-cruise attributes. The situation further complicates if the IAF Sukhoi-30s have acquired the capability of providing target illumination for RVV-AE (AA-12 Adder) BVR missiles being launched from IAF MiG-21Bisons at extended ranges.

http://www.armchairgeneral.com/forums/showthread.php?p=2428939

MiG 21 Lancers have also participated successfully in various NATO exercises. The modernized aircraft demonstrated exceptional readiness levels, relative to their former status, as well as to comparable NATO air forces. In such exercises, the Romanian pilots could participate in the most sophisticated modes of operations, such as laser designation of targets, and precision attacks -capabilities that are yet to be acquired by NATO newcomers.

The MiG 21 Lancer fleet now constitutes the backbone of the Romanian Air Force, performing air defense, close air support and training roles. The aircraft can carry both Eastern and western armament, and perform extremely accurate attacks with both “iron bombs” and precision guided weapons. Lancer is cleared for missiles such as the R60, R73 and Python 3 missiles, 250 and 500 lb bombs, laser guided munitions, targeting, ECM and Reconnaissance pods etc. The Lancer has demonstrated a circular error point (CEP) accuracy of 7 mil/radian and below, while maintaining 1-2meter CEP with laser guided weapons. The aircraft is also cleared for asymmetric loading of weapons, which provides a more flexible and economical use of weapons. Among the 110 aircraft, 85 are configured for ground attack, equipped with a ranging radar, while 25 are air defense variants, using the Elta EL/M-2032 air combat radar.

http://defense-update.com/news/lancer.htm "

F-7 NI Jets and its counterparts MiG 21 Lancer and Bison, will match any MiG 29, F-16, F-18 or Gripen jet in within visual range battle of less than 37km range distance.

All south african Gripen jets have ONLY within visual range missiles whether the current IRIS-T or the planned/still awaited A-DARTER missiles. FACT !!!

for all people, nigerians, south africans and others who have underestimated nigerian F-7 NI jets, i have allowed other people arround the world to talk and help you correct your wrong views that F-7NI jet is crap in air combat and weak in ground attack.

There is a difference between a country buying a jet fighter for the job needed to be done at that time, and just buying a jet fighter to show off and display national pride.

Dare a tiny Scorpion and it will sting you with a dose of poison from its little tail....instant death is guaranteed. Thank you sirs .

read your own source again, and i will add this for you...

1. south africa too does NOT produce any commercial vehicle like nigeria, BMW, FORD, etc just set up factories in south africa.

2. nigeria too has just signed deal with TOYOTA, NISSAN and FORD to open full factories in nigeria from now and to make nigeria number one in africa.

"Oct 9 (Reuters) - The Renault-Nissan Alliance and West African conglomerate Stallion Group have signed a preliminary agreement to start vehicle assembly in Nigeria and potentially create a major Nissan manufacturing hub for Africa."

"As a part of the project, Nissan will expand Stallion’s facility in Lagos, aiming at annual production capacity of 45,000 vehicles, involving a range of cars including light duty trucks, pickups and vans.

It is believed the first car, probably a Nissan patrol SUV, will leave the Nigerian production line in the march of 2014."

be joking and fooling yourself, nigeria has now overtaken south africa in GPD as the new largest economy in africa.

nigeria just overtook south africa in cement production as new top ranking in africa

"Nigeria has beaten South Africa as the biggest cement manufacturer in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA), making it the third-largest in the broader Middle East, only lagging behind Egypt and Saudi Arabia, a 2013 research by Renaissance Capital has revealed.

Nigeria’s current industry capacity surpassed the 20mn tpa mark, reaching 28mnt, well above South Africa’s production of 18.3 metric tonnes per annum (tpa)."

Fynline: interview on will be of some interest sir: “The Managing Director/CEO, Proforce Limited, Mr. Adetokunbo Ogundeyin, says the new automotive policy recently introduced by the Federal Government is the best decision for the nation’s economy now. In this interview with AkinTUNDE Akinwale, Ogundeyin also explained why his company went into armoured vehicles production and the recent partnership with the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON). Excerpts.

What exactly do you produce in your Ode Remo plant, and can the quality standard be compared with similar products elsewhere in the world?
We make a lot of tactical vehicles, cash-in-transit vans; infantry combat vehicles, armoured patrol boats, Unmanned Arial Vehicles (UAV’s) and architectural armouring.

We are now putting together a prototype military tank. Majority of these vehicles are second to none when you look at the quality. We have brought in expatriates that have a combined 70 years experience in armoring
, and these are people who were the top guys where they were working before.

They have transferred the technology to Nigerians who are coming up seriously fast.
In fact, we have a couple armoured personnel carriers (APCs) that the Nigerian team put together and when you look at the quality of the finish, you can match it in quality with the APC’s the expatriate team made.

So, gradually, what is happening is that the Nigerians are taking over, and one day the expatriates will leave it to Nigerians. But I can assure you that our products are just as good as all the products that are imported into Nigeria. Moreover, all we defence products manufacturers import raw materials from the same select group of companies such as glass from the same world leading Armoured Glass company in Peru. Likewise, we all import steel from the same company. The type of welding we do is mig-welding – the expertise of welding two ballistic metals together. If there is a joint, there could be a weak area. So we have perfected the mig-welding because of the presence of the expatriates that we have around, who have transferred that technology to the Nigerians.

We have independently tested most of the different parts. They are all tested in ballistic laboratories in Germany and we are putting together a process of taking the vehicle as a whole for testing in Germany too.

Apart from that, even the drive of most of our vehicles is different; because of our environment, the suspensions are made to suit our roads. We test some of these vehicles on our roads. We test some of these vehicles on our test track. We are putting up a mega test-track, but for now, the vehicles are tested on the test track we have. Some of the vehicles are amphibious going through deep waters. We are putting together a military tank that is combat-ready.

What is your recent MoU with the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) all about?

We signed an MoU (memorandum of understanding) with DICON to build a lot of military APCs in their Bauchi plant. The Bauchi plant has been comatose for years. I think it was built over 20 years, and not much has happened there. So, they want us to make use of it on a PPP (public private partnership) basis and start building military tanks. Just as we are building here, we will be building over there too.
So, we don’t need any expatriate to say they want to come and start building anything again for us.

Many countries have realized that Proforce is number one, that Proforce is on the move.At the rate at which we are going, we will overtake a lot of countries within a short time, and that is the drive we have.

http://beegeagle./2014/01/02/nigerian-army-to-set-up-another-new-division-in-the-niger-delta/
now this is a happy 2014 news from nigeria, we are building our own battle tanks soon !

Fighter Pilot: Yes, correct. Thats basic, if you do not export there is no reason why you should manufacture on a large scale.
nigerian army is 3 times the size of south african army, and we are always busy in one war or the other for the past 25 years

.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by agaugust:
Fighter Pilot: South Africa used to be the top 10 arms exporter in the world according to sipri until now recently. It is still on top 20 arms exporter and where is Nigeria?

The problem is that you only put your focus on Denel products. We have a very big defence industry including the springbok in Nigeria.
south africa was NEVER in the top 10 list of world arms exporters. stop fvcking yourself, it wont make you pregnant grin

that list of the world's top 20 weapons exporters includes Uzbekistan. what weapons does that country Uzbekistan sell ? Lol !!!

i dont follow tables and list blindly, i use my head. because a white man wrote a list, i wont follow it blindly, i will use my own head too and challenge him. can you show me the weapons Uzbekistan exported ? they are listed number 18 while south africa is number 17 as arms exporters.

the only problem you have with me on this forum is that i use my head a lot grin

now to the other issues :

nigeria produces weapons on large scale but only for domestic use as at now, i proved that in my post.

south africa exports mostly light and medium vehicles like MRAPs and APCs, even the Badger IFV is imported from Finland.

my point is, DONT OVERATE south africa, you are not as big as you want us to believe. the super powers are the real large scale weapons exporters and south africa CANNOT compete with them. you are a local champion here in Africa, accept it grin

Ola one: yes
@Scipher offended you on this thread/topic or another ?
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by agaugust:
Fighter Pilot: None of the companies you mentioned above is manufacturing weapons on a large scale.
DICON manufactures tens of thousands of assault rifles, GPMG machine guns, bullet proof vests, Rocket Propelled Grenade Launchers, ammunitions/ordnance, and many hundreds of 81mm Mortar artillery and many hundreds of Amoured personnel Carriers especially STEYR 4K-7FA, they also up-armour and up-gun hundreds of Pinzgauer vehicles.

NIGERDOCK up-guns hundreds of nigerian navy gun boats including our stealth combat catamarans.

nigeria has grown bigger than most nigerians even know, so i dont blame a south african for being ignorant.

Fighter Pilot: SA has over 10 big arms industries which export their weapons on a large scale.
South African defence industry built only 12 units of Rooivalk helicopters with ZERO export numbers in 25 years, and you exported only 102 units of G6 artillery in 25 years. so how big is your large scale ? like China ? grin

.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by agaugust: 6:37am On Jan 04, 2014

Nigeria too has many defence industries, DICON, AFIT, BADEH AEROSPACE, PROFORCE, NIGERDOCK, and several others

DENEL and ARMCOR themselves dont carry weapons and go to fight war or do they ? manufacturing companies are not soldiers. Lol !!!

Nigeria has no stealth vessel the small corvette vessels currently being built won't have larger space to fit deadly weapons. And won't measured up against the valour frigatse.
Nigerian stealth warships Type 056 is still being built and the full weapons are not yet known or disclosed, last month i posted here big news from south african defenseweb and beegeagle that nigeria has changed our stealth warships radars from Chinese to British.

the final selection of weapons on board the nigerian stealth warships are still being worked out, and is classified information until concluded.

for now NNS ARADU Otomat missiles 180km range will sink any warship Valour or Squalor of south african navy.

Every country has its place. South Africa is above Nigeria. SA's defence industry has for long produced weapons with performance in mind first not towards international sells.

What I'm trying to tell you is that whether Nigeria purchases more advanced weapons without a defence industry to back your military in terms of servicing, maintains, further development of systems and repair. Your country will never be compared militarily to SA.
south african defence industry is only more advanced than nigeria in missiles, howitzer artillery, drones, and MRAPs.

nigerian defence industry has become more advanced than south africa in sea warfare because nigeria is building the first stealth warship built in africa now, along with our biggest naval ship building/dockyard in all africa.

for small arms, light armoured vehicles, spy equipment, we are almost equal as at now.

for advanced heavy weapons, both countries are importers NOT producers

The Ratel is better than the BTR-3U in the African environment,it can even carry water for long "trips".
VBL and Cobra APC carries 20mm cannon, grenade launchers and fitted anti-armour weapons.

Mamba carries only a 12.7mm machine gun.

nigeria has over 500 Cobras and VBLs.

BTR-3U of nigeria is a modern world class IFV produced in year 2001

Ratel of south africa is an out-dated IFV to be replaced by Badger in year 2015, your Ratel was produced in year 1974

as at today, nigerian army has more modern heavy weapons than south african army.

google main heavy weapons of both countries and check their production dates, its unfortunate many nigerians dont even know we have a more modern army than south africa.

in the whole of Africa from Cape Town to Cairo, only Nigerian army has the combination of Cobra/VBL/BTR-3U modern armoured vehicles.

even mighty Egypt and strong Algeria DO NOT have that modern armoured vehicles combination of Nigeria, they only have more numbers of older and less advanced armoured vehicles.

people just have a wrong idea that everything south african is more advanced than other african country's equipment. i proved that wrong.

photos of Cobra APC....na who wan test mighty naija !

Mike..ZA:
The G6 is the G5 on a OMC chassis. The G5 is not obsolete cause Denel constantly develops it.

The G7 is obsolete? It is Better than all Nigerian howitzers. Nigerian artillery is obsolete excluding the bofors.
firstly, south african G7 artillery is NOT yet in service, it is in development process by DENEL until further notice. FACT !!

now read this, and dont ever make me repeat this post in future, i hate unnecessary repetition, so open your blocked brain before you read.

Hidden Truth About Nigerian Army Weapons....Unpublished Modernizations And Upgrades

Deliveries of the Palmaria artillery, as was the case with Scorpion light tanks, modernised T55s and Vickers Eagle tanks continued until the early 2000
.

first time that I saw this Palmaria at October 1st Parade on TV, nigerian army said it could fire projectiles to a rocket-assisted 50km range.

You might not realise this but our Ministry Of Defense were involved in a £53 million tank and artillery deal with the UK around the 2003-2005 epoch. That artillery haul included the 48 units of Bofors FH-77B variant, after Shagari had ordered the initial 24 units of FH 77A
.

It is clear that the outstanding performance of the weapon during the Indo-Pak Kargil War of 1999 probably engendered that leap of faith.

So depending on the time of delivery, some of these systems are more contemporary/current/modernized than others.

Take the Scorpion light tanks, a vehicle which was built to replace the world-famous Saladin AFV. The initial deliveries of Scorpion light tanks had 76mm main guns. The more recent deliveries post-1999 had 90mm guns.

it was also in the early 2000s that Messrs Marshpearl of Ireland came and upgrade 36 units of the fleet of 150 Scorpion light tanks in an in-country upgrade programme right at home in nigeria which also saw the upgrade of 14 units of T-55 tanks which belonged to the initial batch of 50 tanks. But 79 more units of T-55 entered service post-1999 and those are more modern variants.
.

Even without these fifty units of Palmaria, Nigerian Army still retain a 2:1 edge in gunnery over the totality of ECOWAS+Chad+Cameroon.

year 2005 latest version Swedish standard nigerian Bofors F-77 B artillery is the best artillery gun in the whole world, its details and sophistication is in the weblink and video below, anyone who still asks how nigerian artillery finds enemy targets, is a complete mad man who needs spiritual help

Fighter Pilot: It doesnt matter, but still those are limited firepower which does not intimidate us.
Ordinary Seleka 1965 vintage firepower intimidated south african army to leave CAR and never return again.

Your navy should have refused to leave Ivory Coast and wait for a visit by NNS ARADU's Otomat anti-ship missile with 180km super long range

Fighter Pilot: My friend, i will recommend you to any airforce training college and ask if is adviceable to attack warships fully loaded with SAM's using fighter jets. Your fighter jets will soon glow the skies as if is new year festival. Even the most experienced US Airforce pilots will never risk such a stu.pid approach. Most modern warships are as well equipped with electronic warfare defence system which interfer with the operation of jets.
you need a very technical and world class counter-combat analysis to knock out that NAF vs SAN simulation on page 806.

the worst nightmare of modern warships is saturation attack by enemy aircraft that wastes every ship's anti-aircraft missiles, from world war II 1939 to Falkland war 1982, the story has not changed.

south africa has no aircraft carrier to give air cover to its warships on high seas. your navy can be defeated away from home.

ordinary words wont win you a war, let me see you fight !
