Henry120: Your onyx helicopter is developed from the super-puma which nigeria operates.
nigerian Puma helicopters were purchased with extra hardware to carry and fire our 40 Exocet anti-ship missiles, but never used. the air force kept the Puma, the navy kept the Exocet missiles separately.

Mike..ZA:
That's stupi'd. Everybody knows the west designs or produce weapons that can defeat any of its eastern counterparts. Nigeria needs to replace that F7 by a real multi-role fighter. Most of the weapons Nigeria buys are not fitted for the African battlefield, your armed forces don't bother to modify them. They're designed for armies that have huge supply capabilities from trucks, transport aircraft(planes) and utility helicopters.
you eyes dont see beyond your nose.

Nigerian F-7 jet with PL-9C missile of 22km range will shoot down ALL OF Angola's SU-27 Flanker jets with their R-60 missile of 8km range, unless they go buy a modern missile like nigeria.

"PL-9C single-shot hit probability for a single missile launch at an approaching target is 90%"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PL-9

fear the missile more than the aircraft that carries it, so that your wife will not become a widow suddenly.

Mike..ZA:
I bet that radar is not as advanced as the one fitted on the Cheeter C. The F7 can't swing between air to ground and air to air mission. SAAF is the most advanced air force in sub-saharan Africa.

itweb.co.za/mobilesite/defenceweb/home/item_id-32385/
"Ground attack missions

The J-7 has been designed to perform ground attack missions in all weather conditions. It can climb to higher altitudes with its delta wings at transonic and supersonic speeds. The aircraft also features a small-sized airframe fitted with a powerful engine. It is suitable only for point air defence due to its short-range attacking capability"

http://www.airforce-technology.com/projects/j7f7fighteraircraft/

you are very wrong. any jet aircraft can switch from interceptor role to ground attack role if it has more than two pylons/hardpoints.

F-7 jet is primary role interceptor, and secondary role ground attack, i just proved that with the above quoted source.

with 5 pylons, F-7 jet can carry 2 air to air missiles as interceptor, then for composite ground attack....two laser guided or unguided bombs, and one rocket pod, plus its two cannons/guns.

the most advanced air forces in sub-saharan africa are :

JET FIGHTERS : Ethiopia, Sudan, Uganda, and Eritrea with their BVRAAM long range missiles on SU-27, SU-30, and MiG 29.

HELICOPTER GUNSHIPS : Sudan, Nigeria and South Africa with their Rooivalk, Mi-24, M-35, M-171, armed versions AW 109 LUH.

Sudan's air force has almost 100 helicopter gunships !!!

TRANSPORT/MARITIME PATROL : Nigeria with its Stretched versions C-130, G-222, ATR-42 Surveyor

PILOTS : Ethiopia, Nigeria, Sudan, South Africa, Eritrea.

Sudan is very powerful (...but shut the f..u..c..k up, wherever you are, afroarab b..i..t..c..h )

only nigerian army was bold enough to enter inside Sudan and save the black sudanese in dafur being k.illed and r.aped in thousands everyday by the arab sudanese military and militia, every other african country including south africa, were afraid to enter sudan and dare the powerful sudan military face to face.

sudan too was afraid of nigeria, they remember how we fought and won every war in africa. nigeria took a big risk, ex-president obasanjo risked dragging nigeria into full war with powerful sudan in dafur. people may hate obasanjo everywhere, but he did more for africa than nelson mandela that everybody loves and praises all over the world. obasanjo is a very unlucky man, he does not have the aura of being liked anywhere, people just fear his courage and boldness, after that, they hate him.

drag_on: A possible new radar for the f-7's ?

The Aviation Industry Corporation of China's (AVIC's) Wuxi-based Radar and Avionics Research Institute detailed two of the People's Liberation Army Air Force's (PLAAF) airborne radar sets at the recent World Radar Fair in Beijing.

First up is the Falcon S-7 radar, which is based on the Alenia Grifo S-7 radar and has been installed in different variants of the Chengdu F-7 fighter aircraft. AVIC stated that the latest model of this radar has a track-while-scan envelope with a 90 km look-up and 80 km in look-down range in the air-to-air mode. In the air-to-surface mode, it can acquire sea targets out to ranges of 150 km in ideal conditions, extending that to 240 km over land.

nigeria can upgrade by changing its F-7 jet radar again to this new 90km, it is presently classified but experts say it is about 30km radar our F-7 has now and it can carry laser guided bombs for air to ground attack.

drag_on: And we really should consider sending those jaguars to the Indians(for repair and upgrades); angry undecided undecided

The first avionics-upgraded SEPECAT Jaguar strike aircraft for the Indian Air Force (IAF) made its maiden flight from the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) facility in Bangalore on 28 November, the company announced.

The enhanced aircraft is fitted with the Display Attack Ranging Inertial Navigation III (DARIN III) avionics suite, which includes a digital 'glass' cockpit comprised of two multifunction display screens and a new head-up display.

In a statement, HAL said that the DARIN III avionics architecture improves the aircraft's navigation, electronic warfare, and weapon delivery capabilities through the incorporation of a new state-of-the-art mission computer, engine and flight instrument system, a solid state digital video recording system, a solid state flight data recorder, additional functions in inertial global positioning system, autopilot, radar, and a radar warning receiver system.

china is now our main source of weapons, and we buy only what we can maintain at home for combat readiness all the time.

Details of Nigerian naval shipbuilding plans revealed

Mrityunjoy Mazumdar, Alameda, California - IHS Jane's Defence Weekly
23 October 2013

This computer-generated image of the P18N OPV was shown during the IQPC OPV Africa conference. The first vessel is being built in Wuhan, the second will be completed in Nigeria. Source: CSOC
The Nigerian Navy (NN) is moving ahead with plans to build naval vessels locally by collaborating with foreign partners. "The Nigerian Navy is extremely keen to have their own in-house shipbuilding capacity and has opened the floor to constructive partnerships in that regard," Dr Karen Sumser-Lupson, the chair and commissioner of the African Maritime Safety & Security Agency (AMSSA), told the inaugural IQPC OPV Africa conference, which was held in Lagos from 27-29 August 2013.

The drive to develop a shipbuilding capability stems partly from the Nigerian government's 'Vision 2020' self-reliance drive and also a desire to create an industrial base that is capable of maintaining the naval vessels, which typically suffer from poor operational availability.

"Localising building of naval vessels in Nigeria will make more naval ships available for patrol and protection of critical offshore infrastructure in Nigeria's maritime domain for the benefit of all," Rear Admiral Emanuel Ogbor, the NN's chief of policy and plans, told the conference.

Leveraging its experience gained from building the 31 m-long NNS Andoni (P 100), the first Seaward Defence Boat (SDB) to emerge from the Nigerian Naval Dockyard in Lagos, the NN is proceeding with the construction of a larger, 38 m SDB.

More importantly, the Nigerian Naval Shipyard (NNSY) in Port Harcourt (formerly the Witt & Busch shipyard) is being upgraded and modernised with Chinese assistance so that it can build offshore patrol vessels (OPVs) and carry out maintenance on vessels of up to 10,000 dwt.

China Shipbuilding & Offshore International Company (CSOC), which signed a contract with the NN in April 2012 to build two 95 m P18N OPVs, is upgrading the NNSY so that it will be able to complete the construction of the second vessel. Around 50-70% of the OPV will be carried out at Port Harcourt, suggesting that some construction and the majority of the outfitting will take place at the NNSY.

The OPV project is a major step up for the shipyard, which built a 90-passenger naval ferry, Sauka Lafiya (A 483), in 2009 and is currently building a 16.56 m, 92 ton naval tug.

Speaking at the IQPC OPV Africa Conference, Xu Ziqui of CSOC revealed the scope of the dockyard upgrade. A new jetty and "auxiliary facilities" capable of repairing 5,000 dwt vessels and offshore projects will be built in Phase 1. A new dry dock and auxiliary facilities to build and repair OPVs and 5,000 dwt ships will be constructed in Phase 2. Phase 3 calls for a fully modernised shipyard that is "able to build and repair OPVs, and up to 10,000 dwt sea-going vessels and offshore projects", said Xu.

Industry sources say the first OPV, which is being built at Wuchang shipyard in Wuhan, is expected to be delivered in mid-2014. The second will also arrive in Nigeria in 2014 and is expected to be completed later that year or in early 2015. Photographs posted on the NN's website in October showed that the chief of naval staff, Vice Admiral Dele Ezeoba, recently attended a "hull formation ceremony" for the first OPV in Wuhan.

Suncraft presented this concept for a 90 m OPV during the IQPC OPV Africa conference. (Suncraft)
Despite the growing Chinese influence in Nigeria, a number of non-Chinese companies are trying hard to sell OPVs and patrol vessel to the NN. Singapore-based Suncraft International is pushing two new 'low-cost' OPV designs: one for a 60 m vessel with a helicopter pad, the other for a 90 m vessel that has an integral hangar. To date, Suncraft has supplied more than a dozen 17 m Manta and two 38 m patrol craft to the NN.

In another development, IHS Jane's understands that the Nigerians rejected an offer of one or more second-hand Israeli warships, most likely ageing Saar-class missile vessels.

OCEA is set to deliver the first of two 31.8 m FPB 98 patrol craft, NNS Dorina (P 101), to Nigeria. The company delivered three 24 m FPB 72 patrol craft to the NN in 2012.

The NN is also interested in acquiring a second Hamilton-class cutter, USCGC Gallatin (WHEC 721), from the Unites States. The transfer is expected to go through in mid-April 2015.

AfroArab: I am not Mr, I am a woman, I am soldier of the Sudanese militia but I have the Egyptian blood. Is the Arab league that we are both included with the Egypt and the Sudan, all is Arab league land of brothers. Your Army of Nigeria is still in the Liberia for twenty years and never will go. You want to rule all over Africa now in the Sudan your Army send a new renforcements again one battalion this month we are now, so why? Your Army is ten years occupying my Arab land and you trick to stay for ever and is like the Americans Army is still in the Iraq land all of you do this invading of Arab lands and we dont want the black peoples or white peoples to rule Arab land okay. Go back home we have a peace in the Sudan.
hahaha grin

you this half-baked-incomplete-arab girl again ! i thought you were gone for good !

let me tell you fact today, nigerian army is NOT leaving your sudan rogue nation until the UN asks us to go, and that is when we are sure that your government troops and supporter of APC militia will not attack, R.ape and K.ill the black sudanese civilians again.

nigeria could not stand and watch anymore in 2004 when the sudanese army and supporter of APC militia were daily R.aping thousands of our fellow black sudan women and teenage girls in Dafur region, and the armed men were asking the black husbands to watch the act while they R.aped the black wives and daughters in broad daylight.

obasanjo as nigerian president fought hard to force AU and UN to allow nigerian army land in sudan and save our fellow black people from your half cooked arab brothers that were R.aping thousands of women/girls and k.illing thousands of their husbands/sons after violating their wives and daughters.

no african country was ready to go except nigeria, every nation did not want trouble with the powerful sudanese military and deadly supporter of APC militia fighters who attacked nigerian army camp at night, killed our gallant soldiers, but we fought in defense without retreat without surrender, despite being outnumbered about 200 nigerian soldiers carrying light weapons against about 1,000 supporter of APC militia carrying medium weapons.

nigerian army lieutenant general martin-luther agwayi was inside that camp on that fateful night as force commandant and he refused to run away, he told our boys to fight to the last man and die like the real nigerian army. nigerian army won the battle that night, the sudanese supporter of APC militia had to withdraw.

you must be c.raaazy to ask nigerian army to leave sudan now, what about our soldiers that were killed in the peace keeping mission ? the nigerian widows at home and the fatherless children ?

shut your mixed-arab mouth or else if i lay my hands on you, i will do you what your arab sudanese men did to the black sudanese girls....an eye for an eye, do me i do you, God no go vex !

CASE CLOSED.

souldust: @all i was watching Startacus and i saw where a Roman soldier was r..a..pe..d by another soldier superior to him in rank. My question is, dont you think that this will have an adverse effect on the morale of the soldiers if this still happens in 21st century military? Do the military punish culprits? How are they punished?
in the military today 21st century, there are two types of R.ape, gay/lesbian r.ape and straight/opposite sex r.ape

America has one of the worst military r.ape acts in the world today. half a million american women soldiers have been raped in the last 10 years and 99% the men slodiers/r.apists are never punished, after military court martial it is always...case dismissed or maybe one out of 100 cases the man gets a suspension, redeployment, or few months without pay/salary.

the american military generals themselves believe there is no need to punish any male soldier for r.aping a fellow female soldier to satisfy his s.exual needs once in a while.

gay rape happens too in american military, male soldiers gang up to r.ape another male soldier.

all these things weaken the r.ape victim's moral and the lack of justice from the nation weakens patriotism.

anywhere in military service worldwide, a r.ape victim who gets no justice can betray his/her country into enemy hands as a form of revenge.

it can also lead to illegally deserting the force back into secret civilian life or defecting from the force into the enemy camp due to the pain of injustice.

Eritrea, an african country has one of the best armies in the world, i mean infantry forces. however, Eritrean army here is our Africa, has a policy in its military, compulsory service for hundreds of thousands of women, together with another policy....male officers are free to R.ape any female soldier at any point in time, it is not an offence.

i dont know if this bad policy is written on paper, but it is very much in practice till now.

if you want free and regular s.ex with thousands of beautiful women...go join Eritrean army as an officer....crazy, isn't it ? yes its crazy !

rka1: 37 Boko Haram fighters killed in northern Nigeria: military

At least 37 Boko Haram fighters died in a coordinated air strike and ground raid by the Nigerian Army and Air Force on Monday, a military spokesperson said on Tuesday.

The troops in collaboration with Nigerian Air Force launched air and ground attack on the insurgents camp at Alagarno, eastern part of the northeast Borno State, killing at least 37 insurgents while many fled with wounds from gunshots, Captain Aliyu Danja, spokesman of the 7 Division of the Nigerian Army told reporters in Maiduguri, the state capital.

"Based on available intelligence, troops of the 7 Division of Nigerian Army launched an attack on Boko Haram camp located in Alagarno," Danja said. The operation which commenced on Monday involved a coordinated ground and air assault by troops of 7 Division in conjunction with 79 Composite Group Nigerian Air Force Maiduguri destroyed the terrorists camp. A total of 37 terrorists were killed in the fire fight while several others fled with gunshot wounds, Danja said.

He said the military recovered arms and ammunition while it destroyed three operational vehicles and many motor cycles belonging to the insurgents in the camp.

According to him, troops from the army division have commenced currently aggressive patrols around the area to trace and destroy other Boko Haram elements for their terrorism act.

The military raid came barely 48 hours after more than 20 persons were killed by suspected members of Boko Haram in Borno State.

Last Tuesday, the Nigerian military announced the killing of 40 Boko Haram fighters in Borno State in operations against the insurgents, who were alleged to attempt coordinated attacks in the three remote towns of Bama, Gwoza and Pulka.

The Boko Haram sect has proved the biggest security threat in the West African country since launching the insurgency in 2009. It seeks to enshrine the Islamic sharia law into the constitution and declares war against the Western education.

Just answer a simple question as in your claim of your f-7 that will fire rockets 13km above a warship, do you even know the difference between 38000 ft and 13km high or away without using a radar is beyond me.

I dont know how the hell can you put a Aermacchi and a albatross against a anti ballistic missile warship capable of detecting all 3 three of of your 2nd gen planes over a 100 km away just by detecting there huge IR signatures.

50 jets available hahaha you can have hundreds of jets who cares, because all of what you currently have is not even modern and is easy target practice.

you also do know that the pl-9 is a AAM and a surface to missile how the hell would you use it in a maritime situation is beyond me, only a naai-ja fool can come up with such fantasies.

now let the lecture begin -

topic : SATURATION ATTACK

content :

Saturation attack is a military tactic in which the attacking side hopes to gain an advantage by overwhelming the defending side's technological, physical and mental ability to respond effectively. During the Cold War and after the conventional saturation missile attack against naval and land targets was and is a much feared eventuality.

I QUOTE :

"the weakness of Valour frigate is exposed by saturation attack, a fact which south african military experts have identified and worried about since the expensive valour frigates were purchased.

The Valour frigates can have their capacity doubled to 32 Umkhontos, but will probably carry only eight missiles and so "can easily be swamped by saturation attack

Also, after a missile has been fired, empty launch canisters have to be removed from their silos, but: "As far as can be determined, this cannot be done by the Valour-class at sea, so reloading will have to be done alongside in habour port or require a replenishment vessel, as a depot ship, in calm seas".

Heitman admitted the missiles might have difficulty intercepting supersonic assaults.

He added that no navy was able to reload its vertically launched anti-aircraft missiles at sea."

SOUTH AFRICAN SOURCE : http://www.armsdeal-vpo.co.za/articles10/weak_ships.html

the nigerian F-7 jets will fire their PL-9C missiles from 13km above sea level, in a downward direction (same way a jet fighter uses its air to air missiles to shoot down on another enemy jet fighter that is far below it in combat. this is called altitude advantage SWOOP DOWN ATTACK combat tactic used for several purposes, e.g where one jet fighter is already airborne at high altitude and another enemy jet fighter just after take off from air base, with hope to climb up and challenge the high flyer, the high up jet quickly uses his height/altitude advantage to swoop down on it like an eagle on a chicken and fire air to air missiles downwards towards the ground from as high as 15 km above sea level, to knock out the enemy jet before it climbs up high).

the F-7 jet PL-9 missiles will force the Valour frigate to defend itself from many terrible 4,000 km/hr speed nigerian missiles and thus waste all the Valour figates 16 Umkhonto missiles because the F-7 jets keep firing more and more PL-9C, ATOLL and Rockets until the Valour frigate has finished using all its anti-aircraft missiles in self defence against the nigerian missiles.

however, the Valour frigates missiles only reach the nigerian missiles, the nigerian F-7 jets are safely flying at 13km above sea level beyond the altitude/ceiling range of only 10km that the south african umkhonto anti-aircraft missile can reach and end its journey there at that level.

after this, the nigerian jets will all descend lower to 6km to 5km above sea level and use deadly salvo of over 100 rockets with speed 3,000 km/hr against the Valour frigates which is now become an easy target like a fat slow pig, easy to spot and target, a very big and massive warship visually captured by the computer guided gun-sight electronic targeting systems of the F-7 jet called HUDAWAC, this is the built-in weapon aiming computer, meaning Head-Up Display And Weapon Aiming Computer that is 100% accurate.

the only defence the Valour frigate has in its rear/back position is the DENEL CIWS gun but its poor range against air targets is only 4km so all the nigerian jets are safe out of its range flying 6km to 6km away behind the warship and firing hundreds of supersonic speed high e.x.plosive and fireball/incendiary air to ground attack rockets that have range of 7km, against the helpless and terrified south african warships until ALL the valour frigates of south african navy catch fire, collapase with holes punched into them and sink to the sea bottom forever.

Mandela and Zuma have no navy any more, Lagos has k.illed Johannesburg, Calabar k.illed Cape Town !

the swoop down attack maneuver at angle 180 degrees is defensive, while angle 45 degrees it is offensive.

photo/image below shows jet fighter swoop down attack, the missiles are fired at positions between number 2 and number 3, when an angle of 45 degrees is achieved, the jets air to air missile simply travels downwards and is guided by the pilots computer aided 100% accurate optical/visual sight towards any target that the jet pilot has seen in his gun/bore sight systems. this is one of the methods the F-7 jet PL-9C missiles will use to achieve the saturation attack objective.

drag_on: i told you both forces (Nigeria and South Africa) don't use BVR, which is the ultimate sensor, and significant advantage of any 4th Gen fighter in a air to air confrontation. What is the significance of your long range radar if you have to enter the range of your opponents tracking radar to fire? When you both see each other it's up to the pilots. Do you not know the role tactics play in a fight? Weapons without tactics is Hollywood.
just to inform the ignorant south africans, F-7 jet is NOT same as the old MiG 21 jet, F-7 especially the nigerian year 2008 version is far superior to MiG 21 in ALMOST EVERY technical aspect, wings shape, avionics, electronic measures, weapons systems, radar, missiles, engine, computers, etc

nigerian F-7NI jets cost $15 million each, the price of the old MiG 21 jet is only about $3 million, the difference is clear !

Haven't you seen reports of the difficulty modern NATO fighters have had engaging Romanian MIG 21 Lancers within visual range due to their speed and evasive manoeuvres? Continue to underestimate. It is good for us.

Henry120: Brilliant reply. I'd also like to add that, the nigerian F-7ni's are similar to the pakistani up-graded F-7PG. In as much as we do not like the F-7's, those jets are not in any way scraps oh. They good interceptors.

Another thing is, in terms of the overall size of the airforce, the nigerian airforce is larger than that of south africa. We have more air-crafts them.

Same in artillery and MBT's. We operate up-graded T-72', VICkers tanks, scorpion light tanks and T-55's. In overall size again, the south africans are under us.
VERY TRUE !

When you both see each other it's up to the pilots. Do you not know the role tactics play in a fight? Weapons without tactics is Hollywood.

snydergp: My dear fool since when has those rocket pods been certified to fire PL-9 missiles. Those pods are simply to small for that.

Secondly you talk about flying the F7's 13km high in the skygrin hahaha wow!!! Thats truly amazing this would be a world record attempt by a NF F-7 which can hardly reach 38000ft, how nice damn the NAF are truly world beaters. tongue

You talk about optically guided missiles as if when a launch is detected the ships would stand still in one place. Since your rockets would have no inertial guidance system to direct the rockets after launch how the hell would they hit a moving target "13km"tongue away as you stated.

You are a daft amateur on a fantasy trip.

Boy you should think before you write it only exposes you as the amateur wanna be military expert fraud same as your other naai-geria dull heads.
hahaha grin

sorry man ! this thread has changed from what it was on page 1 to 12 with new facts emerging on pages 200 to 818 grin

the nigerian F-7 jet that you south africans were insulting is NOT the crap you made us believe long time ago, the NAF F-7NI version of the jet is now sinking your valour frigate and it is too much for you to stomach so your belly vomits gabbage and thrash in response grin

your comment is a 100% failure....

since you dont know the real art of war, i have taught you south africans the deadly combat tactic called SATURATION ATTACK, it sank your Valour frigates so easily.

nobody said PL-9 missiles will be put inside a nigerian rocket pod, where did you see that in my post ? dummy grin

each F-7 jet has 5 different pylons/hardpoints to carry a mixture of different weapons all at the same time, both missiles and rocket pods.

F-7 jet can climb up to heights more than 17 km above sea level.

check F-7 jet facts on google http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chengdu_J-7

the NAF jets carry missiles on some pylons and rocket pods on other pylons, and 50 different types of jet fighters are available for war today in nigerian air force. FACT !

the snail slow Valour frigate warship moves at maximum speed about 55 km/hr but F-7 jet rockets move at speed about 3,000 km/hr and its PL-9 missiles move at speed about 4,000 km/hr so the nigerian attack is 60 times faster than the south african victim.

Alpha jets, L-39 Albatross jets, and MBB 339 jets of nigeria are also joining F-7 jet in rocketing your expensive warships into pieces and sunk to sea bottom.

this combat simulation defeat is too humiliating for you south africans' over-bloated pride to absorb grin

Abuja has k.illed Pretoria, Mandela and Zuma have NO NAVY ANYMORE....FACT !!!

rka1: Whether you like it or not, Biafra, Chad (Armourd corp under Buhari);

In 1983 Chadian soldiers invaded and took 19 islands in Lake Chad within Nigerian territory. The then Brigadier Buhari, who was the General Officer Commanding of the 3rd Armoured Division (which he did from November 1981 - December 1983) successfully carried out a blockade of Chad. After which all the territories were returned. The Nigerian Army under Buhari then pursued the Chadian Army as far as 50 km into Chadian territory. The 21st Armoured Brigade carried out the blockade and the fighting.

http://transparencyng.com/index.php/people2/116-politicians/3246-muhammadu-buhari-

Babangida oversaw the maturation and massive expansion of the Armored corps including huge foreign armament purchases, training opportunities and career development for upcoming junior officers and soldiers during the heydays of the late seventies and early eighties

During the civil war the range of armored fighting vehicles was expanded to include the Fox, Saladin and Saracen family. The Inspectorate of Recce (led by an “Inspector”) evolved after the civil war into four Recce regiments (1, 2, 3, and 4Reconnaissance Regiments, respectively). Then in 1976/77 it matured into the Armoured Corps (led by a “Commander”) at a time of significant expansion of its range of Armored Fighting Vehicles (AFV) to include French Panhard AML 60s and 90s [b] and light Tanks (like the British Scorpion CVRT) . Armored Brigades were created in Enugu (21st), Ilorin (22nd), Bauchi (23rd) and Epe (24th) in the place of regiments. These have long since been reorganized.

Just after the civil war, the School of Armour was located along old Ife Road in Ibadan but moved to ‘Tank terrain’ in Bauchi sometime in October 1979. Later on, medium Tanks (like the Soviet T-55)and heavy Tanks (like the Vickers “Eagle” Main Battle Tank) were acquired.

Plenty of stories and photos out there in regard to artillery fire in SL & Liberia not to talk of during the civil war.

nigerian army Scorpion Tanks upgraded

nigerian army has recently upgraded in Europe, our Scorpion Recce / Light Tanks with new main gun from the 76mm to 90mm with more fire-power, longer fire-range, and faster engine speed.

also, the Scorpion tank is faster than normal tanks with speed 70 km/hr to 80km/hr for upgraded versions.

Nigeria has about 200 Scorpion Tanks and some of them can be fitted to carry our deadly Swingfire anti-tank missiles.

saengine: You logged on, decided to type all of this about unguided rockets ?

Unguided aim and shoot rockets ? You are more delusional than I thought.

Let us assume your source is real (which we all know he's not grin).....
yes, i am bragging about rocket pods and proudly made in nigeria, or your blind eyes cannot read and see the display by NAF for public view ?

nigeria is producing both combat and space rockets and Epe rockets/missiles project site building and testing various sizes of rockets with different ranges ....

...proved with sources from Guardian newspapers just last month...let it sink deep into your coconut head finally...fool grin

http://www.ngrguardiannews.com/national-news/132850-nigeria-resumes-rocket-testing-

zaandrew: You bragging about rocket pods?
rocket pods are the most dangerous air to ground weapon, thats why i used it by nigerian F-7 jets to sink all your expensive south african valour frigate warships in the new naval blockade simulation, and nigeria has unlimited supply of rocket pods because we manufacture them here in nigeria 100%.

now all you foolish south africans, let me teach you how powerful a rocket pod is :

it carries about 10 to 20 rockets in one single pod

it can fire the rockets in one by one method if pilot wishes

it can fire all 20 rockets in salvo quick-time in less than 1 second

its rockets have speed of about 3,000 km/hr and faster than most missiles in the world including south african umkhonto missiles

its rockets can be of different types, high explosive, fire/flame burst incendiary, anti-tank, smoke, illumination, armour-piercing.

its rockets CANNOT be jammed by any defensive electronic counter measures because it is computer optical sight targeted and NOT radar or infra-red guided, Valour frigate CANNOT stop the F-7 jet rockets by any means.

its rocket speed and salvo large number of about 60 rockets flying to attack at the same time makes it IMPOSSIBLE for south african valour frigate's only one single short range 4km anti-air use DENEL CIWS remote gun to stop the rockets coming from several nigerian F-7 jets from about 5km to 6km safely away from the DENEL gun, now attacking the ship from different back/rear side directions left back, right back, and centre back positions to confuse, defeat, and destroy the weak DENEL gun and sink the entire Valour frigate to sea bottom.

nigerian F-7 jets will use its 100% accurate visual eye sight targeting device called HUDAWAC that has a 100% accurate built-in weapon aiming computer, hence the name Head-Up Display And Weapon Aiming Computer.

this means all its PL-9C missiles and ATOLL missiles will be optical visual sight guided100% accurately by the pilot to defeat any Valour frigate attempt to jam it or use chaff to deceive it. the nigerian pilot sees the Valour frigate with his own eyes, fires the PL-9 missiles by computer targeting sight, and in 15 seconds the PL-9 missile which is much faster than the Umkhonto missile will explode on the south african warship.

to save the Valour frigate, south african navy is forced to fire and waste all its 16 Umkhonto surface to air missiles in self defence against nigerian F-7 jet flying safe 13km above the ships anti-aircraft rear/back side defences, while its missiles and rockets that enter the ships Umkhonto 10km ceiling altitude umbrella in a few seconds after launch.

F-7 jets rockets and missiles have speeds of about 3,000 km/hr and 4,000 km/hr respectively, much faster than the Valour frigates Umkhonto missile speed of only about 2,700 km/hr.

using this well respected combat tactics technically called SATURATION ATTACK , the nigerian air force surprise air to ground combat tactics will finally sink ALL south african navy Valour frigate warships thus seriously wrecking their navy, and a counter attack to invade south africa by nigerian navy and army with NNS Ambe logistics landing ship may follow.

South African Gripen Jets Decay...Rotten...Broken In Pieces By Cannibalization

This follows Defence Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula’s admission earlier this year that few of the Gripens are actually flying, with most of them being held in long-term storage. It has also been reported that the aircraft in storage are being cannibalised for spares to keep a handful of aircraft flying.

http://www.bdlive.co.za/national/2013/07/25/vips-flying-high-while-air-force-choppers-gather-dust

Cannibalization is a military behaviour when there is no cash to buy spare parts, they dismantle in pieces engine parts from one jet which becomes grounded and useless, to replace worn out spare parts of flying jets.

south african air force is decaying and rotting away more and more everyday.

photo of a Gripen jet in pieces, south african air force jets are fast looking like this one....

news that the South African Air Force’s (SAAF’s) R2bn fleet of Agusta 109 helicopters has joined the Gripen fighter jets in cold storage due to a lack of funds to fly them while VIP helicopter flights continue, has sparked outrage.

meanwhile, all nigerian military's about 30 units of Augusta Helicopters are all flying today, i wonder why south africans boast of a much bigger military budget than nigeria, what are they doing with all their defence money they boast of on nairaland ? their military is in a state of weapons decay.

also again, due to better experience in managing a flying and operational air force which guides the types of aircraft nigeria purchases, all nigerian air force 12 units of F-7 jets with their world class powerful PL-9C air to air missiles keep flying and maintained everyday supported by about 40 units of Alpha Jets, L-39 Albatross Jets, MBB 339 Jets all fully upgraded and modernized with better weapons and electronic counter measures in Europe very recently, and further ground support from a formidable air defence with Roland SAM, Type 90 AAA, and soon the expected AKASH SAM from India with 35km anti-aircraft missile range.

we do regular joint military execises with NATO, America, and Asian giants. we just finished one with Spain's navy some months ago.

China's army came to Nigerian army to learn thick forest/jungle warfare and marine/mangrove swamp warfare tactics because the main Chinese army experience is mountain and highland warfare.

so training experience with NATO could not give south african army enough courage to GO BACK to defeat Seleka rebels in C.A.R after those farmer boys humiliated you in battle ?

have you ever seen anywhere in this world where nigerian army was attacked by anybody and our soldiers abandoned the location or country ?

C-130 hercules and NNS Ambe moved in reinforcement of nigerian soldiers to go fight to regain full control of Freetown when Charles Taylor's rebels got new weapons from Libya's Ghadaffi became very strong and outnumbered nigerian army on battlefield when they re-entered the city to launch counter-offensive against us.

nigerian army always goes back to retaliate, defeat and disgrace the enemy....now that's the real military difference between pretoria and abuja !

ask liberian rebels, ask sierra leone rebels, ask janjahweed rebels of sudan, ask boko haram, ask Chad and Cameroon's national armies.....nigerian army is very different from south african army....we always fight, die and win !

part of our secret is that nigerian army has mixed combat tactics we learned from different armies all over the world, we are not arrogant like south africa who knows too little and still too proud to travel out and learn war tactics from better experienced world military nations.
