reason why i war the south africans, dont judge a country like nigeria by the age or model of its weapons like Palmaria SPHA, Roland SAM, Otomat ASM, Swingfire ATGM, F-7NI Jet with a PL-9C SRAAM....

F-7 jet Vs Gripen jet, i will post my observation this weekend...something useless about the Gripen jets 'strong points adavantages' that the south africans have been hiding on this forum...or maybe they just dont know it....all they say is show us photo of nigerian weapons...and oh ! that is old and outdated, so the weapon cannot k.ill, it is a toy for kids in school, right ?

The isrealis are a strong force though. The americans are indispensable to the Israelis. They (israel) simply cannot do without the americans.
there is a powerful 'israeli lobby' inside american congress, a powerful, rich and influential group of jews who have become house of reps and senate members in american legislature.

america feels it owes a 'forever debt' to the israel because a jew immigrant scientist albert einstein built the world first atomic bomb that saved america from japan in world war II and made america a world power.

South Africa navy is now patrolling in your waters.

That's how we flex our muscle again your face. We are talking about military stuff Mr police officer AKA Lord Seleka..........I bet our rangers are better trained than your soldiers, did you see the programme on Al jazeera?
show me source that says south african navy is patrolling nigeria's EEZ waters, not gulf of guinea open ocean.

nigeria is responsible for its own EEZ ocean territory, not the whole west africa or gulf of guinea, we are only helping the weaker african brother nations by extending our patrols to other countries EEZ.

nigeria has a bigger naval force than south africa , we have over 300 boats and ships from 10m to 130m size and 4 ATR-42 Surveyor maritime aircraft that NO COUNTRY IN AFRICA has....

Egypt is indeed the biggest threat to Israel. Thanks to aljazeera for not following the western patern of false propaganda interesting documentary indeed.

anybody that fights Egypt today will suffer heavy casualties, reason why Israel has carefully avaoided fighting Egypt again since that yom kippur war.

Henry120: If you missed the last episode of the "war in october", a documentary by aljazeera on the "yum kippur war", it is definitely a "Shame" and very unfortunate.

Great un-biased documentary. I thoroughly enjoyed it all 3 weeks it was aired.
Israel and Egypt fought to a draw in that war.

Egypt is NOT the fool that south africans think they are, as at today, Egypt has the strongest military in Africa and they will wipe out South Africa in war withing a few days.

Nigeria, Algeria, Ethiopia, Morocco are the 4 countries that will give Egypt a very tough battle and for Nigeria, we will hold Egypt to a stalemate/draw if the battle lasts more than 30 days, Nigerian military will re-modularize its modular weapon systems and raise a one million man army to push back Egyptian attack, the only way Egypt can defeat Nigeria is by launching an all out war, full scale attack, and lightning strike to try and overwhelm nigerian military in about 14 days.

it is very hard for Egypt to launch surprise attack on nigeria even if we remove the distance barrier, the nigerian Satellite system will see any enemy long before they reach nigerian soldiers positions.

Algeria, Ethiopia, Morocco and South Africa will be easy victims of nigeria's satellite/spy warfare capabilities which has been proved very strategic in modern day warfare since the Falklands war 1982 between Britain and Argentina. when the you can see your enemy and he cannot see you...you have k.illed him !

nigerian coast is absolutely impenetrable for ANY country in the world except the top 15 world military powers.

South African military will be sunk, wasted, and buried in one day if they venture to attack nigerian from the ocean waters....it is nigeria's economically richest and most heavily defended military stronghold....air radars, sea radars, satellites, spy balloons, air drones, sea drones, electronic warfare measures, missiles, rockets, artillery.....and the death traps on the niger delta swamps...

.....only a country that wants to be used for historical records of grand-massacre will attempt to attack nigeria from the ocean/coast/sea

nigeria will be a world power....CJN Belgore

"A former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Alfa Belgore, has said that Nigeria will not only be among the world powers but among the greatest economies of the world, if the country remained stable till the next 10 years.

Belgore said this in Ilorin, Kwara State, on Wednesday during a summit by members of the Ilorin Emirate under the aegis of ‘Third Estate,’ a group of professionals of Ilorin emirate origin.

He said the prediction that Nigeria would disintegrate by 2015 and the Boko Haram menace were aimed at obliterating the corporate existence of the country.

“If we are stable for the next 10 years, Nigeria would be among not only world powers, it would be among the greatest economies too. We have everything on the ground. There is no state in Nigeria without mineral and plenty of rainfall. We have water everywhere. We have everything to make a great country,” he said."

Nigerian made Epe Rockets now in combat service....

there is 'insider' information that nigerian made Epe rockets have secretly entered combat service and is being used by nigerian air force jet fighters and helicopter gunships.

the rockets are of various sizes and ranges, which are also being improved and upgraded regularly as more research and development continues secretly at the Epe missile/rocketry/space/satellite site in a tightly secured and 'no public entry' Lagos waterfront area/island location.

the information from the 'insider' source says the air force has produced its own launchers for the air to ground rockets, while the army is working hard on its own launchers for the bigger and longer range ground to ground artillery rockets, surface to air anti-aircraft missiles versions, and also working with the navy to build land to sea versions in anti-ship missile modes, though source said the anti-aircraft and anti-ship versions will take a longer time to complete than the army ground to ground versions which will be ready likely next year 2014, while the air force version is already in full use and service having being configured by nigerian air force research institute for all combat aircraft to be armed with.

asked to provide some 'proof', the 'insider' source said ...."people have been seeing it but they dont know it is from that Epe site as the first version/model with a range maximum 10km or thereabout "...he then referred to the photo and link below...

Thiza: sandf new procument plan:

Under the Defence Review the Army, Navy, and Air Force have laid-out criteria for effectively meeting their strategic demands. The Review stresses the importance of six broad strategic areas in which urgent procurements will be prioritised for the near to medium term (according to the draft policy paper):
Infantry Combat Vehicles (ICVs) – Currently Utilising decades-old Ratel ICVs, pertains to Project Hoefyster
Armoured Personnel Carriers – Possibly pertains to Project Vistula
Logistics Vehicles – Pertains to Project Vistula
Light Artillery – Likely based on a locally-designed 105mm system
Aerial Weaponry – Sourcing appropriate munitions for the Gripen multirole aircraft
Combat Support Ships – Pertains to Project Millenium

For the Air Force, major procurement projects have already been completed under the Strategic Defence Package (SDP), in the acquisition of Gripen and Hawk multirole aircraft. For the Army and Navy there are several outstanding projects of note. In the immediate short-term, it is the land forces who will almost certainly receive budget priority, with naval procurements swiftly following. This will be directed at the following major projects:

Project Vistula

Project Vistula, the SA Army’s procurement allotment which intends to replace the current “B” fleet of SAMIL 50 and SAMIL 100 soft-skinned (i.e unarmoured or lightly armoured) transport vehicles, has received renewed interest by ARMSCOR following a shelving of the project in 2007.

Vistula will replace the B fleet with around 5,000 vehicles of various configurations for use by the Army. These include 8x8, 6x6 and 4x4 vehicles fulfilling basic transportation, mine-resistant capable, and logistics vehicles depending on the need and supplier’s ability to provide the correct vehicles.

Project Hoefyster (Horseshoe)

Project Hoefyster is aimed at replacing the now-outdated, 30-year old Ratel Infantry Fighting Vehicles (IFV) in use by the SANDF. At present, Government has agreed upon a deal to procure 264 “Badger” 8x8 IFVs with an estimated cost of R8bn. The IFV would transport SANDF mechanised troops on operations, serving as a support platform for troops during combat. The range of turret models which Denel Land Systems (DLS) is offering would enable the complete combat needs replacement and upgrading of the SANDF’s current Ratel system, enabling combat forces to utilise infantry support, heavy weapons (mortars) and anti-tank capabilities in one mechanised brigade. The SANDF currently has two mechanised infantry battalions (excluding artillery and support mechanised units), and will need far more than the currently-ordered IFVs to be completely refitted.

Naval Considerations

In terms of naval procurement, Project Millenium, Project Biro, and Project Saucepan are designed towards sourcing new LHD-class vessels, Offshore Patrol Vessels, and Maritime Patrol craft respectively.
most of the above is just a wish list and day dream of south african military.

south african government has no money to waste any more on defence.

south african CANNOT raise money to maintain the weapons it already has.

only 8 pilots for 26 Gripen jets.

12 Gripen jets are in long term 'deep freezer' cold storage.

only 11 Exocet missiles remain instead of 32 Exocet missiles for 4 valour frigates.

only 46 G6 artillery and 11 Rooivalk helicopters have been purchased since 20 years ago.

stop daydreaming bros, south africa is NOT buying any new major military equipment due to lack of money

Henry120:
The last may not have been heard concerning the survival or otherwise of the leader of the outlawed Islamic sect, Boko Haram, Abubkar Shekau, as a security analysis conducted by the Department of the State Security (DSS),yesterday revealed that the recent video appearance of the sect’s leader was unreal.

The security analysis of the video sighted by THISDAY,
noted that the amateur replica cloned everything wrongly
but was not categorical on the death of the terrorist as it
waited on time to determine.

This, however, came same day the Minister of Special
Duties, Alhaji Kabiru Turaki, said it was not part of his duty or mandate as minister and chairman of the Presidential Committee on Dialogue and Peaceful Resolution of the Conflicts in Northern Nigeria to locate Shekau’s whereabout.

But the expert analysis of the video of the sect’s leader in
previous appearances showed that Shekau usually starts with the recitation of a full verse of the Quran, which sometimes could last up to five minutes, a sequence the stand-in Shekau did not observe.

According to a senior official of the agency, who spoke on
conditions of anonymity, the amateur cloned replica of
Shekau was wrong on several grounds including the fact
that his former appearances in videos was patterned after
a certain modus operandi.

It was also observed in the analysis, that unlike on
previous occasions when Shekau spoke, he was never
interrupted by any background praising quite unlike what
happened in the latest video.

The video, which was sent in for analysis by experts
showed that the movement of “Shekau’s lips” did not
synchronise with the words as pronounced, apparently
betraying a recorded message inefficiently manipulated to sustain a non-existent continuum in leadership, now in
disarray.

The experts had stated that the cloned attempt to mimick
Shekau voice during the opening stanza soon gave in, as
the impostor reverted to his real voice, while the intonation was different as Shekau was not known to drawl while talking.

Other inconsistencies discovered by the experts were that:
“This ‘Shekau’ even said a dead woman -Margaret
Thatcher, and Oladipo Diya, rejoiced over his (Shekau's)
death.

A DSS source who spoke to THISDAY said, "How does these add up to strengthen his case? One is dead and the other had left government long before the advent of Boko
Haram. The video was just to create unnecessary panic in the public.

“The fact is that Abubakar Shekau, was truly shot, critically injured and evacuated by his lieutenants to a conventional hospital outside Nigeria. It is only time that will tell if he survived but we know now that the video is as fake as it gets.”

Hezron Lorraine: Around what price can a SCUD3A missile be purchased.is it necessary for an african nation to have it.
https://img.naij.com/n/0d/e/war-machine1.jpg
Angola, Egypt, Libya, Congo DRC all have Scud missiles here in africa

it costs about $2 million depending on model and range. it does not help win a war, Congo DRC has it and yet M23 rebels are kicking the Congolese national army around grin

Nigeria is building a much better missile at Epe project side, range will end at 500km to 1,000km when project is completed because the nigerian rocket is expected to be able to carry a satellite into space and that needs from 500km range upwards. current range at Epe from 'insider' civilian sources is 120km (source beegeagle blog)

'insider' military sources says nigerian made rockets/missiles at Epe project testing site has many versions being built and tested including a planned long range anti-ship missiles to be based on coastal land to defend against enemy ships at any point in nigerian territorial waters as far as our national EEZ in gulf of guinea.

CraigB: Er, bullets... undecided
i lost interest in answering back at you, a human being that is not smart enough to differentiate between a south african army that ran away from seleka rebels in C.A.R. just because they lost 13 SANDF army personnel in combat thus refusing in fear to go back in force to challenge seleak and redeem their south african national pride......

.....and a nigerian army that daily and hourly pursues boko haram fighters into the mountains and forests killing hundreds of boko haram fighters including their number one leader abubakar shekau right inside his own camp/heavily guarded base/stronghold and continuing to look for, find, attack, kill and put boko haram on the run, not minding the loss of a few dozens of nigerian army soldiers in battle with the killing of hundreds of boko haram in the process and capturing their RPG anti-armour rockets, AK-47 rifles, 30mm 4x4 vehicle mounted cannon, and the new boko haram anti-aircraft guns obtained from Ghadaffi's Libya civil war weapons looted into civilian hands.

if you are not intelligent enough to differentiate between the nigerian army and south african army, then you are NOT worth my time.

i think after about one year on this forum, i want to be selective whose post i reply to, some people are just not worth replying, they add no value to the ongoing conversations, you clearly fall into that category.

pakistani air force defeated indian air force in air to air combat, neutral sources confirmed and i dont care about propaganda, the truth is known to war history experts.

"The Pakistanis lost some 25 aircraft (11 in air combat), while the Indians lost 60 (25 in air combat). This was an impressive result"

Nigerian F-7 jet pilots got first training from China's air force, then based on our long term defence pact with Pakistan they have to give nigerian pilots ALL the war experience Pakistan used to defeat Indian air force in 1965/1971 wars and they always have to do live combat air exercises with us as our military partners based on the joint defence pact.

maybe not in south africa, there are american civilians who were trained by ex-USAF combat pilots to fly privately owned jet fighters, and many of them have the combat skills taught to them on those jets, but they have never used it in war because they are civilians.

you make me believe the military academy you attended in south africa trained you part-time on how to use one rifle in an emergency and then trained you full-time how to use frying pan on a gas cooker as navy cook/chef grin

they way you think sometimes make me wonder....and wonder !

2 weeks war game of Gripen jet users with Sweden, Hungary, Czech republic, and Thailand...all those countries have zero modern air to air jet combat experience against any nations air force in real life war.....south africa was playing games with in-experienced pilots who have never shot down a bird .....bat or dove in all their lives grin

one year and even more of Nigerian air force F-7 jet pilots flying regularly in combat war drills with Pakistani air force jet fighter pilots and getting ALL the air to air and air to ground jet fighter/bomber skills from Pakistan that has world class air force vs air force real life war experience against the mighty Indian air force in war of 1965 and 1971....

your brain cannot think out which is better, 2 weeks with some in-experienced Gripen pilots or 1 whole year with highly experienced F-7 pilots of Pakistan...nigerian air force is still one of the best in Africa in terms of pilots combat skills and air to air missiles arsenal.

souldust: can a civilian train to be a fighter pilot just to have skills?

Can the F-7 perform acrobatic display?
yes, civilians in advanced countries go to private aviation schools and fly military aircraft like Alpha jets, etc which have been purchased by civilian aircraft enthusiasts for private use only. they are not military fighter pilots, but they have about 50% of the fighter pilot skills in private training if they learn under retired air force fighter pilots, this is mostly available only in advanced countries like america.

F-7 jet especially those nigerian F-7NI special versions with specially shaped wings superior to the older versions, can do acrobatic displays same as in combat situation dangerous maneuvers.

thank you @souldust for this nice question.

for those who think nigerian F-7 jet is not able to do the special attack dive and snap up combat tactics, that i used it for in new naval blockade simulation to sink south african navlour warships....watch the F-7 (called J-7 in china) jets in action video below...F-7 jet is NOT crap !!!

saengine: I've already posted pics of the South African Navy firing Umkhonto. Read this comment from Janes Defence, the most respected Defence body in the world.

http://www.janes.com/article/28033/land-based-umkhonto-fired-for-the-first-time

"The SAN (South African Navy) has carried out multiple successful Umkhonto launches against LOCATS and Skua high-speed targets, and the Finnish Navy has scored kinetic kills against Banshee targets with at least three telemetry rounds.

The SAN has also demonstrated the Umkhonto in its alternate anti-ship role, which showed that pre-fragmented warheads would destroy most of a warship's sensor antennas. "

That means the South African Navy has fired its own missiles in its own tests. I know that is hard for your small brain to believe kiss

The Finnish Navy has also fired its own Umkhonto missiles in its own tests. Again, hard for your small brain to believe kiss

Finnish Navy firing Umkhonto Missile

hahaha grin

you still proved my points to be correct. umkhonto missile is ONLY tested and ONLY effective against aircraft or slow flying cruise missiles all in the air above the warship, NOT against a sea water skimming or hugging anti-ship missile like nigerian NNS Aradu Otomat anti-shi missile.

the sea skua test was umkhonto against a air flying drone aircraft, the banshee test in finland was also against an air flying drone aircraft.

"Banshee entered service with the British Army in the mid-1980s as an aerial target for the Short Blowpipe and Javelin shoulder launched anti-aircraft missiles"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meggitt_Banshee

my friend, get this into your head finally and finally, no missile developer with aim of using a missile to stop and anti-ship missile, will design that missile in vertical cell to first fly upwards in a wasted journey like the children of israel in the wilderness, then the defensive missile will start turning upside down again to come back to face the very ship that launched it and try save the ship from a sea water surface hugging Otomat anti-ship missile....use your head even if you dont like to do so, just try once in a while to think like a man that went to school, even if it was a soweto village classroom grin

see, nobody in the world has been able to stop an exocet anti-ship missile, reason why Argentina used it to sink a powerful British navy destroyer warship that has all the missile, electronic jamming, and heavy/light gun defenses in the world during falklands war. also American navy purchased Otomat anti-ship missile and tested it against US NAVY warships but the Otomat missile defeated ALL marican navy missile defences, then the whole world knew that NOBODY can stop and Otomat missile the messenger of death from NNS Aradu.

both DENEL and south african navy tested fired exocet missiles and umkhonto missiles SEPARATELY AGAINST DIFFERENT TARGETS but not against each other because DENEL was NOT bold enough to test umkhonto to stop a sea skimming exocet anti-ship missile because they know IT WILL FAIL and spoil their marketing over-rating business stragtegy grin

unkhonto missile CANNOT stop NNS Aradu Otomat sea water surface hugging/skimming anti-ship missile, nigerian navy will sink all south african navy warships from longer range 80km-180km. FACT PROVED 100 TIMES ON THIS FORUM.

andrewza: You showed NAF being trained by other countries. Not NAF haveing wargames with other countries. 2 difrent things
go check dictionary meaning of 'capacity building' and 'not holding back any knowledge'

pakistani airforce has given nigerian airforce more than what countries get in a two week war game with each other.

nigeria-pakistan combat pilot skills transfer is a very long term and continuing deal. nigeria has defense pact with pakistan.

dont blind your soweto eyes to the part of my posted source that said

"
The Pakistan Air Force is assisting the Nigerian Air Force with maintenance and training for its F-7 fighter jets and in building the Nigerian Air Force’s capacity.

Air Chief Marshal Butt said he would help the Nigerian Air Force reach its full potential and promised that “the Pakistani Air Force and the Defence Industries of Pakistan will not hold anything back from the Nigerian people and the Nigerian Air Force . When we cooperate more, we will develop to reach higher heights,” Pan-African news agency (Pana) quotes him as saying."

you dont ever want or wish any other african military to achieve great skills and equipment, only you want to be doing big things in south africa. life does not work that way. be mature in your thinking and dont run down other people when they achieve beyond your expectation. life is not a do or die affair competition.

nigerian navy trains inside pakistani navy sumbarines for both combat and maintenance. if that fact k.ills you, better go and d.ie since you dont wish other african countries military to make progress grin

please leave me alone, mister time waster . good night !

andrewza: I posted a pic of a excet being fired from a valour.
that photo does not show anything to proof it is a south african valour frigate, it is like photo of a headless human body grin

nigerian navy tests missiles, i prove it with that photo on nigerian navy official website. swallow that fact !

andrewza: Since when do counties test SAMs are live missiels .
nigeria tests SAM missiles. America does same.

many countries do it once in a while without making public noise as you expected. military is not same as police.

andrewza: The umkhonto recies course correcstion from the frigat so can be gided in close to a sea skimming target. Then the 23kg warhead detonats. That force alone will be enough to knock out a missiel or force a sea skimmer in to the oceane.
i can see that umkhonto has been tested against a sea skimmimg missile like exocet inside your 3 year old son's playstation video game grin
