some nigerian artillery has range up to 30km like Palmaria, why has the longer range not defeated boko haram ?

It will not suffice to justify our criticism based on just a single incident which caught them off guard, the same has happened on September 11th when the US was caught flat footed. saengine: Those vehicles are designed to dissipate energy during a blast. Mine resistant doesnt mean you can keep driving over land mines like they're nothing. A wheel might be blown off or panels crumble. Go on youtute and see what happens to vehicles that hit IED's. Only the heavier, bulkier vehicles such as the Casspir were able to drive over a few mines.....but even they would eventually be demobalised.

andrewza: The USAF failed in tora bore due to a sickness in the USAF called"super fast and shiny" the USAF loves fighters and sent fighter there to drop PGMs but for that terrian you don't want fast high flyers. You want AC130s and A10s(air craft the USAF hates) and have infantry right there. Has serbia proofe"air power can not win wars" most of the tanks and jets NATO bomed were cardboard. That is all so from relying on saterlights to much.


BH were able to use technicals during the battel so why were the nigerians unable to bring up a mobil reserve once the scale of the fight was under stood. Even if it was just more comandos in landcrussiers. Why was the BHs escape route not blocked of, 150 dead terrorists that mean 150 got away with 9 hostages.


Nigeria made many mistakes in that fight. Maybe not by the force comander. 100 solders did mange to attack and clear a base defended by 3 times there number. Not bad, but the higher ups failed worse than SA in bangue who let's face it, where not expecting to fight.

Let's look at the DRC. The east is moutan and jungel yet air support was a great force muitpliler to be used to remove M23 from the 3 surronding peaks. Air suport in moutan and juggel terrian works.

you dont know how war is fought in reality....your battlefield tactics are very poor, though you seem to know things about rifles names and specifications...but that will not win you a war or battle.....you need real time tested combat tactics on the field of battle.

the nigerian army used a combat tactic very few people understand. people say one army major did mistakes...i dont know about that, but stealth commando offensive without air and artillery support is british army style and is meant to start and end as stealth offensive.

there in no proof that 9 nigerian soldiers are held hostage by boko haram, if yes, boko haram would have posted their videos in captivity for us to see as they do to other hostages and claim victory...but no video, no photo, no voice.

only a foolish air marshal will use aircraft to attack 300 terrorists deep inside a jungle, the pilots will not see what they are b..ombing, and will k.ill their own friendly army by error...and boko haram is very mobile in the bush...fly in one jet, they hear the sound and spread out through already prepared escape routes and soon cross the international border again into cameroon or niger republic.

The FSA won't move heavy armour because the Syrian air force has the upper hand and will easily bombard or destroy those(tanks and vehicles). Nigeria's air force is not that powerful,soldiers die in their own country with air force jets around. The FSA is bringing the enemy into the cities fight them in bridging(blasting or making holes) building walls kind of warfare. But if the air force was weak "technicals" and armoured cars like in Libya would be used. It would be a war of capturing town after town,with troops carried easily to the front lines by vehicles without the fear of aerial bombing. The war would be swift and end quickly.

you this guy will make a very good policeman if given the chance to chase armed robbers around street corners....but if you join any army on battlefield, you will be one of the first to enter a body bag and arrive in the mortuary.

Fighter Pilot: I will not explain myself to civilians who have never attended any military academy and who have even misleaded people by saying that Air strikes cannot be used in the jungles. The Jungle warfare is not a specialised training and any soldier who has never been trained in jugles can be utilised effectively to fight in jungles depending on the experience of the commander. Urban warfare is completely different and in most countries is only carried out by special forces. The is no any difficult war in the world as that which involves lives of civilians and I hope you understand that lives of civilians must be protected at all times. Urban warfare restrict you to a limited firepower and air strikes are ruled completely useless. Nigeria failed to handle it successfully in Baga where they have killed more than 200 civilians on air strikes in just a small town. What if it was in Lagos? The whole of it would have been flat by now if the would have employed the same approach.

Bush war and desert war is even regarded as being the most toughest as it does not provide any cover and soldiers are exposed to fire most of the times. Jungle warfare only makes it difficult to see the enermy from distance but its advantage is that it provides a perfact cover for your own armies.
