Fighter Pilot: FIB is MONUSCO, they all wear MONUSCO beret and trademark.
FIB is created to do what MONUSCO has no legal mandate to do....attack rebels without provocation....UN does not duplicate responsibility and mandate.

FACT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fighter Pilot: Agaugust you were wrong again. The FIB is the sub of MONUSCO which is under the command of a Brazilian.
Augustine is right again, the Tanzanian commands FIB directly, he only consults the MONUSCO Brazilian, their mandates are different, if it was the same mandate of offensive/attacking combat engagement, MONUSCO will be on the battle frontline with the Indians and Pakistanis armies leading the war instead of FIB's Tanzanians and other africans.

MONUSCO is a joint deployment back-up reserve force in case FIB is overwhelmed in an emergency.

MONUSCO does not launch unprovoked offensive against rebels due to its limited mandate.

FIB is mandated to attack without any provocation from the rebels and Tanzania the conqueror of mighty Libya, is now teaching South Africa the basics of real life offensive/attacking combat that does not permit running away from Seleka type of local rebels.

by the way, why are you @fighter pilot and @andrewza sitting down at home entangled with your wives under a blanket while your fellow south african soldiers are at war in Congo DRC....you are both plastic toy soldiers cheesy

Fighter Pilot: So why are Nigerian commanders are not appointed as well. Throughout my three deployments, I have never served under Nigerian General. What is your argument?
....the argument is that while Tanzanian army defeated both Libyan and Ugandan military forces all combined together with one single blow, South african army was defeated by Seleka rebels with one single blow too tongue

zaandrew: Wrong, Napoleon needed his solders some where mentioned by name. He only won because his solders were so good.
dont confuse people here, i read a lot about Napoleon, he won his wars because he was a better army General than his enemies he fought against.

the German and Russian soldiers were as good as the French soldiers, but Napoleon Bonaparte made a difference as a better General than his opponents, better battle plans, strategy and tactics made him the winner.

same way that better military planning, strategic and tactical capabilities, made the Tanzanian army General the better choice to lead the offensive war in Congo DRC so that South Africa will not disgrace the UN force by their historical curse of pre-destinated poor performance in battles.

Tanzania defeated joint forces of mighty Libya and Uganda in war.....FACT

" A planned attack by a brigade-sized Libyan force with fifteen T-55s, a dozen APCs, and BM-21 MRLs, intended to reach Masaka, instead collided with the Tanzanian force at Lukaya on 10 March and sent the 201st Brigade reeling backwards in disarray. However, a Tanzanian counter-attack on the night of 11–12 March from two directions, involving a reorganised 201st Brigade attacking from the south and the 208th Brigade from the north-west, was successful, with many Libyan units, including the militia, breaking and retreating at a run. Libyan casualties were reported at 200+ another 200 allied Ugandans"

Msauza: Dude, we know that you are a master of mathematics, in particular geometry and trigonometry to calculate all those spaces which will make safe landing of the gunship on that tiny NNS thunder. Even though we are not that sharp in mathematics we cannot just be easily fooled around by self appointed mathematics professor. What you are insinuating is grossly impossible and hence your assertions and analysis of probabilities are untenable. The extra space of 6.8-7m is still not a safe space for the attack helicopter's take off because the do not just take off as if they re being lifted by a crane. NNS thunders heliport deck was meant for light utility helicopters which are by far smaller than many Gunships.
NNS Thunder can carry a Mi-24 Hind helicopter gunship. FACT. PROVED.

however, i just said if it does, but nigerian navy has no plan to use a nigerian airforce helicopter on NNS Thunder, the plan is to use a specially made naval helicopter and the choice is AS 555 Fenneck helicopters from france because those have anti-submarine capabilities.

some new information coming in from beegeagle also says there is likely option of nigerian Type 056 brand new stealth warship from china carrying Z-9 naval helicopters which can be armed with 300km long range anti-ship missiles, we are awaiting any official information on that.

andrewza: Firstly that quote does not back up what you said. Do you thing the hamlton class is the only cutter in the USCG? That they have not built any thing new since the 1960s? And the jayhawk is a purpos built martime choper, it can over far better than a hind for one thing

nigerian army uprooted snipers in somalia war....

....in joint operation with american marines

"Colonel Peck said United States military officials had discussed “fire discipline — knowing where your rounds are going,” with the Nigerian commander. Gunfire from Nigerian forces guarding the major traffic circle known as K-4 had also struck the mess hall tent and the north side of the embassy, about a mile from the intersection, Colonel Peck said.

In repelling snipers and suspected looters who approached the traffic circle from several directions Thursday, Nigerian soldiers penetrated through and loosed up an immense array of rocket-propelled grenade, machine-gun and rifle fire. The shooting spree by Somalis ended after United States marines began a weapons sweep of houses in the area under helicopter cover.

Colonel Peck said the sweep produced seven AK-47 assault rifles, three heavy machine guns, 30 hand grenades, a 120-millimeter heavy mortar and one light mortar, among other weapons.

Today’s shooting ended when the Nigerian soldiers searched the buildings where shooting had occurred for snipers and weapons. They brought out six younger men, three women, and an elderly man."

andrewza: I was puting it in cotects. And how long are a hinds rotor blades, how much room for a misstake is there. Basicaly you can't land a hind there. No pilot would take the chance. Just one mistake, one swell and you could loose the ship and choper. It is funny that some one who has never seen NNS thunder up close and has zero martime training wants to argue with some one who has both.
are you south africans all a nation of mathematical fools ? no wonder pretoria is begging nigeria to send you more and more nigerian mathematics and science teachers to open your blind eyes and improve your 33% brain in mandela's rainbow nation.

instead of you to use mathematical data to determine how an helicopter will land on a ships flight deck, you are using your ordinary eye sight....fool grin

Mi-35 Hind helicopter is even shorter than the 18m i said, its FULL length from tail rotor end to overhead rotor end and gun pod in the nose all together is 17.5 m and that is 6.5m smaller than the NNS Thunder flight deck and that means if the Hind lands on the Thunder there is still extra free space of a whole 21 feet free space between the helicopter and the ships structures and only at the front of the helicopter do you have a structure 21 feet far away, on all two sides and backside of the helicopter is open free always empty air space you fool grin

21 feet is more than enough space to park a 16 feet long Honda Accord car and leave extra space. you are a foolish navy cook in south africa, the whole of mandela's navy does not know applied mathematical geometry....rainbow nation of fools grin

19.76m long american jayhawk helicopters have been landing of NNS Thunder Hamiliton class ships at random without any accident or mistake, and the american helicopter is over 6 feet longer than Mi-35 Hind....you fool grin

it is only foolish pilots like in that published media news of south african air force Rooivalk helicopter gunship pilots that flew the helicopter in broad daylight and entered into city street electricity cables flying helicopter like a blind bat, because his south african brain cannot calculate distance between two objects grin

http://www.dailymaverick.co.za/article/2013-06-14-peacekeepers-behaving-badly-why-south-african-ill-discipline-in-drc-is-a-un-problem/

South African National Defence Force (SANDF) peacekeepers in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) have had 93 cases of misconduct brought against them. Defence minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula has lamented the ill-discipline of the South African troops serving in the Congo, but there is more to this than just the criminality of South African troops; it points to fault lines in the UN peacekeeping apparatus in the DRC. By KHADIJA PATEL.

This week, Defence Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula revealed to Parliament that 93 members of the South African National Defence Force serving in the United Nations peacekeeping force, Monusco, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, have had cases of misconduct brought against them. According to the minister, investigations were conducted against each of the 93 and, where applicable, troops met the “harshest possible sanction”.

Of those 93 cases of misconduct, the Democratic Alliance says at least 23 involve R.ape, S.exual exploitation, S.exual abuse and the A.ssault of women.

In a statement released to the media, the Department of Defence and Military Veterans indicated that four cases so far had been finalised and a conviction secured.

“All four have been dismissed from the SANDF,” said the statement.

The Democratic Alliance’s David Maynier, Shadow Minister of Defence and Military Veterans, slammed the report from Mapisa-Nqakula.

“It is completely unacceptable for the members of the SANDF, who are supposed to be a disciplined military force, to begin to mirror the behaviour of the national defence force and rebel groups in the DRC,” he said in a statement.

Military analyst Helmoed Heitman, however, admits that the SANDF is faced with a “discipline problem”.

It is the incidence of S.ex C.rimes committed by members of the SANDF in the DRC that is particularly troubling.

zaandrew: http://m.news24.com/news24/SouthAfrica/News/SA-forces-play-key-role-in-DRC-20130901

Pretoria - South African soldiers have been at the forefront of attacks on rebels in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo and were instrumental, along with a UN force, in repelling the M23 rebels as they rained rockets on the town of Goma.

The Sunday Times reported that a visit to the front line at Kibumba on Saturday, made it possible to piece together the events of last week. South African National Defence Force commander Colonel Patrick Dube also confirmed that his troops played a leading role in repelling the rebels.

Congolese troops said support from South African troops had been invaluable. “We fought with the South Africans yesterday and today,” said one soldier near the frontline on Thursday.

Local commanders said the number of South African soldiers wounded had risen to five, but SANDF spokesperson Brigadier General Xolani Mabanga said yesterday the official figure remained at three.

After a lull of almost a month, fresh fighting broke out recently when the rebels attacked Congolese army positions outside Goma. The battle erupted in earnest on Wednesday when the rebels launched another bid to take Goma. Throughout Wednesday, Russian Hind attack helicopters, supported by South African Oryx helicopters, flew sorties over the enemy positions.

The air attacks were supported by Tanzanian artillery and South African mortar and reconnaissance teams. South African snipers reportedly killed six rebel commanders. Later in the day, a South African C130 Hercules transport aircraft landed at Goma, bringing in more ammunition.

The region is reportedly on a knife-edge, which is threatening to escalate into an all-out war.

only south africans think shiny weapons alone win a war.....

i have told you nobody in the world is interested in wasying money to buy some useless 70km range DENEL G6 artillery. now see real life battlefield reality in Congo DRC, the distance between the two opposing armies is maximum of 17km or even less. reason why Tanzanian D-30 artillery guns are clearing out M23 rebels for the weaker south african army to be safe and protected by their more experienced Tanzanian brothers.

global military experience has learned from war history that an army does not need artillery guns with range more than about 24km....that is what the americans and russians are building and still using today. 70km range of G6 DENEL artillery is a waste, if the enemy is too far away, you lose control and accuracy because you dont knwo what you are hitting anymore and the enemy target may have since moved away from where you think they were, you just waste your shells bombarding a useless potato farm .

UN is going for human capacity of combat experience, battlefield courage, physical toughness, and history of reliability in military operations.

DENEL should start using Tanzania's army to market their weapons from now on !

Tanzania's army trained with China's army for the Congo DRC war....they now command and control south african military.

UN Asks South African Army To Step Behind.....

....Moves Tanzanian Army To Frontline Battle In Congo DRC

UN wants the stronger and more experienced Tanzanian army to be in the frontline battles, thus throwing South African army backwards to watch and learn combat from their new Tanzanian military masters.

"A U.N. source said the South African government is not reluctant to combat the M23 rebels, but its forces were not needed in the latest engagement, which required only the use of the Tanzanian field artillery unit.

The intervention brigade commander used to be Tanzania's highest ranking artillery commander."
