Your politicans wouldent dream of it? pic related! In the middle of a war, when your military is desperate for funding and new equipment... your politicians still found time to buy a new toy

The Department of Defence’s 2013/14 annual report noted that the SAAF flew a total of 18 454 hours, or 87.65% of the planned flying hours for the year ending March 31. Of the targeted 6 300 force employment hours that were planned, only 4 471 were actually flown as “the requirements of force employment were less than predicted.”
http://www.defenceweb.co.za/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=36879:feature-operationally-stretched-saaf-flying-fewer-hours&catid=35:Aerospace

18 000 hours, 4 471 for training alone.

Deal with it

How many combat sorties for SAAF ? .....ZERO
shocked shocked

Should we add NAF training hours and military liaison hours across the whole country including outside the NE war zone, shall we add NAF daily patrol hours of Niger Delta oil region ? NAF combat sorties alone is 6,000 flights not hours, if ATR-42 does 10 hours flight and Alpha jet does 2 hours flight, those 6,000 sorties could be over 36,000 hours combat hours alone.

Add the training, daily liaison, and daily anti-piracy hours flown by NAF but not detailed to public.....

Stop claiming what you are not.

Let me remind you of a old post on this same thread 2584.

For example, back in 2009, the South African Air Force stopped automatically releasing data on how many hours combat pilots flew for training. When the numbers were finally obtained, it was discovered that in 2008, fighter pilots were in the air for 325 hours (less than two hours a month per pilot). In contrast, pilots on VIP flights (carrying politicians and government officials) were up there 1,932 hours.

1. We use Skysheild standardized to latest generation GDF-006 AHEAD and GDF-007 AHEAD standard. Yes they are 100% better

2. Nigerian Bofors is an ancient WW2 weapon - developed in 1933

3. Nope, your man beeguggug says its GDF-02... is he wrong?

4. We know the numbers, you have only got 16 GDF-20

5. Yes, and we have more AAA guns than you (148 in total) and they are more advanced.

And lets be clear:

- Nigerian GDF 02 = OBSOLETE
- Bofors = OBSOLETE
- Shilka = OBSOLETE
- Type 90 = Copy of the GDF-02

Your air defence is a collection of obsolete systems with obsolete fire-systems! Pathetic rag tag army!
1. SANDF has NO single AHEAD ammunition today 2015. Your GDF-005 is a 30 year old 1985 weapon grin

2. Bofors is still manufactured today 2015, Sweden mounts Bofors 40 mm on their current 2015 CV90 IFV....you olodo grin

3. Show us source to prove Nigeria has 16 units of GDF 002

5. Our total number of guns is classified, nobody in public knows how many Bofors, GDF 002, and Type 90 that Nigeria has.

SANDF air defence system kills it's own soldiers, the enemy aircraft does not even need to attack, your own GDF 005 attacks and wipes out your own army gun operators.....modernized for suicide shocked shocked

"9am when a battery from 10 Anti-Aircraft Regiment in Kimberley began a live-fire exercise at the Army Combat Training Centre at Lohatlha as part of the SANDF's Exercise Seboka. By the time the gun had emptied its twin 250-round auto-loader magazines, nine soldiers were dead and 11 injured. It appears as though the gun, which is computerised, jammed before there was some sort of explosion and then it opened fire uncontrollably, killing and injuring the SANDF soldiers."

Lets compare shall we?

Roland SAM - obsolete 1970's missile system
Blowpipe SAM - obsolete 1970's missile system
SA-7 MANPAD - obsolete 1960's MANPAD system

Starstreak - most advanced MANPAD currently in operation, no known countermeasures.
Uhmkonto - latest generation of SAM missile systems

So, conclusion:

SANDF missile defence - state of the art
Nigerian missile defence - obsolete 1960's and 1970's junk

.
Your argument is dead on arrival.

SANDF army does NOT have any Umhkonto missile in service today, it is under development you fraud.

Your only SAM in SANDF is a toy MANPAD starstreak with ONLY 1 km maximum ceiling, NAF will r.ape your army with ordinary Gazelle armed helicopters, your army will azz bleed to death grin

Nigerian SA-7 has max ceiling 4.5 km

Missile Name : SA-7 Grail 9M32M Strela
Max. Range : 5,500 meters
Max. Altitude 4,500 meters

Fake soldier, you need more lecture from a Nigerian military researcher who educated you about your own country's air force uniform, I am sure you have now been trained by me on how to differentiate SANDF army camo from that of SAAF, say thank you baas grin

Bofors fires effective 4km range without radar, you didn't know that, I have to teach you. Eyesight will not see aircraft beyond that range.

With the normal radar, Bofors shoots to over 12 km and Nigeria beats South Africa again with range. shocked

"This gun was used throughout the war and was the main medium anti-aircraft gun. It could fire at a rate of 330 rounds a minute with a range of 41,000ft."

Nigerian military has war history against only rebels. They have never fought against another country which is equally or better equipped than them.

SA fought against German troops, Russia, Angola, and Cuba all of which were countries which had Navies, Air forces with modern fighter jets and Armies which were well equipped.
When did South Africa fight Germany alone or fight Russia at all? Your country would have been wiped out by Germany that defeated France, and Russia that USA is afraid to fight.

No wonder you have no citations for your tales by moonlight.

SANDF trembles when they see Sudanese AK-47 boys in Toyota. SAAF has only 11 combat helicopters, NAF has about 40.

SA has the latest Skyshield upgrade including the Umkhonto SAM and Starstreak which is by far more modern then your nigerian army relics.

Please continue embarrassing yourself fraud.
As a military analyst, I confidently tell you that nobody in the public has details of Nigerian GDF whether 002 or 005 versions, their total numbers are also classified so nobody knows how many units we have.

Wanna bring up missiles? We are talking guns. No need to repeat Roland SAM, Blowpipe SAM, SA-7 SAM missiles of Nigeria. South African Starstreak is a joke and Umkhobto army version is still under development. Nothing in SANDF can match NA Rolands.

12-16 units of GDF-02

102 GDF-002 + 48 modified GDF-005 units.

Gee I wonder who wins grin grin grin

FYI, yours are ancient, ours are Skysheild. Get your facts straight
Nigerian systems details are not fully known, we bought Type 90 anti-aircraft guns circa year 2005, that's a modern weapon, so your Skyshield is NOT better.

Also, we have 40mm Bofors anti-aircraft with superior range more than 3 times that your GDF series.

Nigeria has Bofors with 12 km range, your South African GDF range is 4 km only shocked shocked

The series of Nigerian GDF is not known, they could be 005 series.

Nobody has numbers of Nigerian anti-aircraft guns, it's classified information.

We have more types of AAA guns than you, SANDF has only GDF, but Nigerian army has GDF, Bofors, Shilka, and Type 90.

FYI, SANDF GDF guns and Skyguard are a failure, your guns kïll yöur own SANDF soldiers instead of killing enemy aircraft.

SADC is the most peaceful and richest region of Africa today. You don't need AFRICOM base.

War /Refugee crisis /Insurgencies /Terrorism in Mali, Chad, Sudan, Libya,Tunisia, Nigeria, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Congo DRC, etc makes AFRICOM a vital help for poor and weak countries.

If the Islamic rebels and terrorists of our Sahel/Maghreb/Sahara region shift base to SADC, you will have about 100,000 heavily armed insurgents scattering your region. SAAF has flown ZERO combat sorties this year, so when you attempt what NAF has done, we can measure your own accidents crash rates.
