0key: How does imposing tax on people who carry out legitimate duties become a way of regulating their activities? To me it doesn't make any sense.Paying taxes is the most basic form of regulation, this is pretty much elementary.. |
ALTRUTH: Kindly state the laws and regulations that the traders have refused to submit to? These guys have been paying required taxes so why all the harassment?? Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Kayode Opeifa, said this at a stakeholders meeting on Wednesday, organised by the Motor Vehicle Administration Agency. Licensing of Auto/ Spare Parts Dealers, Riders Identification Card and most importantly, keeping of a robust Database on Vehicles/Owners.The highlighted is solely responsible for Licensing of Auto/ Spare Parts Dealers in Lagos state meaning for public safety and health reasons, they must license every auto parts trader in Lagos state, they must have every auto parts dealer in Laos state on their data base, they must know who is selling auto parts in Lagos state and what they are selling. Not knowing who is selling and exactly what they are selling like like the quality of the products and where they came from. This is clearly a safety, health issue and since this state agency charged to administer such practices in Lagos state was establish and empowered by the people of Lagos state and back with the laws of Lagos state via the state legislature so not yielding to the state agency in charge of their operations was against the law and criminal. Btw, saying they are saying they are paying the required taxes is your opinion and not a statement of fact because you don't know and I don't how you tax business you know little or nothing about since they are not operating under any kind of license or or official administration. |
Katsumoto: Since the nigerian police can solve all crimes, perhaps society can do away with institutions that regulate industries such as health, food, etcVery very frustrating. With a segment of the society refusing to submit to the same laws and regulation that the rest of the society must respect and yield to, where do we go from here? Lawlessness, total breakdown of law and order, anarchy? Wait till the other segments of the society echoed the same lawless and anti authority attitude? I think this more than tribalism, this is backwardness and absurd group thinking topped with self destructive behavior. |

cjrane: Source? dem no fit provide! Half baked illiterates politicizing everything! cjrane: Yoruba are natural born cowards^^^^^^ With that kind of mind set, at least it's not hard to see the source of your tantrums and reason for it... Ndo... ![]() |
VAQAXY: UNIZIK remains number one university in Nigeria. The university of the moment! What is that? |
More than half of the Top 20 are in the SW and even LASU made the top 20 list as the best state UNI in Nigeria. Good job SW. Keep it up. |
1MCN: Young Nigerian web users love every opportunity to differ. This is a foreign survey. Only NUC has a more authentic and reliable statistical survey of our Nigerian tertiary institutions. Again, this ranking is based on WEB PRESENCE and that does not translate into quality of products! Although I agree that schools here should greatly improve their web usefulness and flexibility. Imagine that you visit a university website only to see pictures on lawns, lecture halls and parking lots! No interative design and no reasonable academic info! 1MCN: I am IgboNuff said ![]() |
redsun: Who doesn't know you are a bigoted idioot? That you are creature that is born to be perpetually babylike and foo;lish?Old man, you obviously saw that inside your mirror. What else shapes everything you utter on NL if not tribalism and bigotry? Agbaya, you go cry taya.... |
redsun: Yeye man, knee surgery america, stomach upset america, food poison american as if american doctors are aliens. Most of the medics america are nigeria, the only difference is that they well managed by a system is set up by insightful leadership.Sad to see old men like you crying all over the place on the internet. Sucks to be you old man... |
Well as far as am concern, APC is still the best party in choosing who represent them. What is the need for a primary when party leaders does not want you to be the flag bearer? If you insist on contesting the primary, they will only wait for you to spend all your money and at the primary they still vote for who they want. The party leaders will tell the deligate what to do and so be it. So Annie Nkonkwo is a very wise man and believe in listening to the party for his own benefit atleast the Senate seat will be vacant when Ngige win the Guber election and Annie can replace him chikena
This is what I love about the ACN, they pick the best and the most qualified to run against their opponents instead of the silly and corrupt Nigerian primaries where you end up with the candidate with endless cash on the table and never the best and the most competent candidate. A good example is the difference between ACN public officials and PDP public officials. With all the bogus and cash and carry PDP primaries, it's nothing but laziness, lack of progress, lack of vision and gross incompetence all over PDP land. |
Put the development aside for a minute. Why has Yoruba yielded so much of its birthright to a non Yoruba group? Whats Yoruba's problem? Please dont tell me we are accomodating and generous; thats over played. Tell me something else we have never heard before.
We've heard it before and the story unfortunately is still the same, nothing new. We just have to move away from this mind set and this is why I must say thanks to our ibo brothers for bringing forth this awareness that's waking up many and boiling blood all over Yoruba land. We know how to work our way around characters like these and we always do it with strength, tact, strategy and zero destruction of any inch of our land. Lagos is our Crown Jewel and we'll pull out of Nigeria before ceding the smallest inch of it to anybody especially the lawless, ungrateful, anti social and unruly people we have on our land. |
ichommy: The former Governor who left for US for a kneeGod bless Asiwaju Bola Tinubu |
You are profoundly illiterate ...even though you can read and write. What sort of tax do individuals in their own capacity pay to FG? Aside the residence of FCT and members of the armed forces..not individual pay tax to FG. Beside..the issue on ground is not tax...but registration of members with a regulatory agency of government. It's always very easy for you people to lose focus of that issue by consuming it in your usual bigoted and tribalistic minds.
Trust me, they know, they just like to spray bigotry, sentiments and emotions all over the place just to dodge their social responsibilities. Look at the Kalu the deadbeat and tax evader and how he tried to dodge his tax and social obligations with the same tribalism, sentiments and emotions. This is nothing but crudeness, lawlessness and anti social behavior. These characters should never be part of any society trying to move forward and progress because they have no intentions to progress and move forward with you, they are dead weights and they'll keep holding you back until you do something to assert your your authority for the benefit of all. They know how to play this game, but nothing lasts forever. |
the whole world saw the process that produced obama as a candidate for the democratic party the same for john mccain for the republicans why are you people so afraid of party primaries? is Ngige an incumbent governor? well, it is your business anyway. as a voter, i shudder at what people like you would do to public coffers if given the chance afterall you did not care about democracy ab initio selection is not election but thats just my opinion Are you a learner? If fact, you are a learner.... ![]() |
OLANIYI101: Anambra people shine your eyes wella. Is this about servitude or moving your people forward? ANAMBRA is not under servitude with Obi, but how better off are the people of ANAMBRA under Obi? You people can not progress if sentiments and dumb emotions is all you have instead of common sense and good political strategies.. |
deeptesting: From all parameters which I have personally used as a basis for my conclusion, the bridge is not worth the 3 billion Naira allegedly committed into the project as claimed by the government....As an agent of the government I put it forward to you to request your masters to make these information public.Your ignorant and layman parameters means nothing. |
if that is the case, then why don't we have military rule? why bother to seek popular participation, a process called democracy? you still don't get it. anytime a candidate fails to go through a proper democratic process something is lost in the democratic system that thing is called "due process". if a party is not interested in due process this is the clearest indication that it will not care about what the people want or thinks when it gets to power we saw it abundantly during OBJs PDP era
Is their any better process than a prudent and matured process where a candidate did the right thing by ceding over to a better candidates instead of fighting and mud slinging in some pointless primary or insulting and rubbishing people like the kangaroo AGPA party just did to soludo? Please keep your crooked, immature and kangaroo politics to yourself... |
Bros Peter: Am beginning to believe you smoke dope before coming to Nairaland. If you really think Ngige can sell that to Igbo people then you're on a long thing. Even us non Igbos squirmed when Ngige was romancing the Yorubas so as to get the APC ticket. They did not see him romancing the ACN and the so called Yoruba party before voting for him before? Talk about upside down and silky tribal argument. |
FreeGlobe: How does your drivel relate to APC being a non Democratic party?I don't get what you are trying to say, please articulate yourself in broader terms.. ![]() |
deeptesting:So you are admitting that you based your rubbish on zero knowledge and you are just subjecting us to your ignorance? |

Gbawe: ....and even intangibles such as compensation for demolished buildings/shops/structures et al. Some people are simply led by their bias, whatever such may be, when they contribute opinions. We are even yet to get into all the side expenses before construction sef. The thing is, I really don't mind honest and sensible criticisms of government actions and spending where applicable, but not when it's based on just lame talk, ignorance and warped thoughts as if the rest of us are just dummies and mumu with no brains. |
deeptesting: Thank for your positive contribution and just to add my 2 cents people should stop the idea of supporting an over bloated cost contract just because they seem to belong to a political party or are supporters of a political party..You can not assert that this is an over bloated project simply because you are yet to show us precisely what you based that conclusion on. Is it cost comparison with similar project, similar terrain, similar workforce, cost of goods, supplies and materials, cost of labor and so n. Until you are able to provide all that to back up your warped claims, you are spewing nothing but your own brand of ignorance. |
deeptesting: I still repeat the fact that 3 billion Naira cannot be spent to build a bridge that trucks cannot safely climb and heavy duty trucks cannot ply....Now using the life span to justify the ban of trucks on he bridge is just ridiculous when you and I know that it is the continuous maintenance of the bridge that will prolong its life span and not the plying of the trucks on it, if at all 3 billion was spent on it..Again, the amount spent on any bridge has nothing to do with what's allowed or not on any bridge based on safety and longevity. Even if 10 billion was spent on the bridge, it doesn't mean that the state should not exercise prudence and safe practices. So what's your point, spend 1 billion or spend 20 billion and allow everything to ply the bridge and instead of getting 20 years life span, you end up with 5 years...then end up sending billions to rehabilitate or even build another one? Where is the sense and wisdom in your warped argument? Basically, money spent has has no bearing on safety and getting the best bang for your money. Btw, are you a traffic or bridge engineer? Are you a contractor? Do you have labor and material cost or data spreadsheet relating to this bridge? |
deeptesting: When a purported and concocted 3 billion naira is spent on building a bridge that trucks are barred from its usage then it is sub-standard and what is your definition of a standard bridge?Sounds like you are inferring that this bridge is sub standard simply because trucks are not allowed on this bridge, but shouldn't common sense tell you that the best way to increase the life of this bridge is to prevent trucks and heavy load vehicles from plying the bridge and also due to the fact that trucks can not safely climb and maneuver around on this bridge. If you are going to argue and criticize, feel free to do so, but not with bogus and layman reasonings.. |
kobenol: Quite unfortunate. You are even boasting your knowledge deficiency.Illiteracy and tribalism is a dangerous mix and since Nigerian is now manufacturing more illiterates than literate people, Nigeria is in deep trouble.. |
See drama, excuses and hypocrisy all over the place. You people love to post similar pictures about other places epecially Lagos without making any excuses about good or bad places, now that den blow ya yansh open for daylight, na silly excuses about good places and to blame the messenger remain. Funny enough, this is a clear representation of your villages You people no dey disappoint...lmao |
Btw, please don't basterdize the thread with your rubbish, irrelevant and meaningless pictures, feel free to start your own thread and post all your junk in there..... |
Ikengawo: You also have to consider that this is how ACN works. Pictures and internet, so of all of the states and all of their visitors, it will be ACN states that will take and post 150 pictures. I remember when they rented a crane to put a camera on it for the 'unveiling' of ipon imo (laptops). I also remember the amount of photo's taken of the unnecessary Ibadan over pass compared to what has been done on and of other states.I'm posting this after laughing at your silly, pointless and childish post.. To start with, we have pictures to post because we have active and productive leaders who are always on the job either awarding and commissioning projects, coming up with new visions and ideas to move their people forward or just interacting and exchanging views and ideas with world leaders and notable dignifies, but no such thing is going on in your SE, they don't know anything about awarding and commissioning and they haven't awarded or commissioned anything significant in a long long time so where exactly are you going to get the pictures from?.. You can not get pictures of projects and events without actual projects and events so it's not just about picture and publicity, with the SW, it's always about hard work and vision then event's commissioning and pictures for us to post and celebrate. Trust me, the only reason you people from SE are not posting pictures like we do is because your leaders are very lazy and incompetent, they are not giving you anything to post, they are not offering you anything to brag with because they lack vision and sense of duty, they lack personal sophistication worldly views, they are low grade and mediocre leaders and it reflects. Btw, the way you people brag and beat chest, if your leaders are like the ACN leaders and are actually awarding and commissioning projects, it's wrap, we no go hear word talk less sleep. The Enugu thread is still there with pictures of even irrelevant stuff that as nothing to do with development. Okorocha is barely 2 years old in office and he's done more than many of your other lazy SE governors, in fact, he was your darling and best governor in Nigeria till he joined the APC and your tribal BS kicked in to make him your number 1 enemy overnight. We have pictures of the news schools he built while your other leaders haven't built any in well over a decade. I don't see the SE going anywhere anytime soon till you people get rid of your crippling tribal ways, until you procure leaders with good management skills and vision, until you start reaching out and cooperating with other people beyond your borders, until you get rid of petty jealousy, disrespectful ways and me me me me and me only attitude.. |
