incrediblestev: Let us not undermine the usefulness of freedom of association, every law has its limits and per-requisites, there is no law that is absolute in itself, if I were to follow your version of freedom, then it will be ok for me to join the bokoharam sect and be justified. ASSU's existence has caused more harm than good to our education system, and yes, there is no country I know of where there is an academic union that compels every University in a country to embark on a compulsive strike even when members are not disposed to joining in. Do you know of the brawl that has been going on between ASSU and University of illorin to the point the management had to sack over 40 lecturers who were members to the union for their disruptive antics and tendencies every time there was a disagreement, today Univeristy of Illorin is better for it, they are not on strike and academic sessions are not disrupted by the greedy power play of a few. Even the private sector wont allow unionism because of its degenerative antics to constantly use disruptive means to solve their problems bad enough, you dont see these union leaders when thesame management and FG they constantly fight when school fees are unjustly hiked or students taken advantage of by lazy lecturers. ASSU needs to be either overhauled or reduced to individual University, they have outlived their usefulness as it is now. What are you blabbing about? I don't think anybody has stopped you from joining the bokoharam sect. An association to kill people, or force people to adopt your way of life, beliefs? Is the union coercing people to join them? If so, that is a crime. Unfortunately most people join willingly, compared to the market unions, NURTW etc., that force people to join them. When you join a union, you agreed and must abide by its rules and majority decision(s). Most of those market unions are not even registered yet they force people to join them. You should be talking about those kind of unions, not unions people join willingly. Most people if they had the choice wont join unions, but in the Nigerian situation, if you are not in a union, your bargaining power dwindles. Collective bargaining is better for such people. ![]() |
Are we under military rule? People should know the certain issues before talking. There is a provision of the constitution that allows "freedom of association." Yu have to remove/modify/expunge/ etc that section from the constitution first. It was the same thing that played out during the north implementing sharia. Everybody was waiting for OBJ to stop sharia, a power the constitution doesn't confer on him. If there is any problem with the constitution, let the national assembly change the law(s), then the executive implement. Nigerian's have been under military rule for long that we don't understand what democracy is all about. We continue to imagine the President/Governor/LGA Chairman can just give orders. ![]() |

DaRocha: I have always said that 'the problem of the Niger-Delta is the people of the Niger-Delta themselves'. Fine GEJ got Tompolo the contract that he used to amass a lot of wealth but let us ask Tompolo, "Why didn't he use his ill-gotten money to put in place infrastructure in the Niger-Delta?". How many things worthy of mention can we point to that he has used the money for? I thought he once said that he was fighting for the emancipation of the Niger-Delta. Is this the emancipation he's been referring to all this while? I cry for the Niger-Delta because one day, that oil and gas that the Niger-Delta so depend on, will finish and they would regret their actions greatly. It is not a curse but reality.Danjuma and co who own oil blocks, kindly list the infrastructures they have in place. |
What most Nigerians don't know is that our President has the mind set of the average ND militant:- IT IS OUR OIL, WE CAN GET IT ANYHOW, USE THE PROCEEDS ANYHOW AND DO NOT GIVE A DAMN ABOUT WHOSE OX IS GORED! Unfortunately, no nation survives under a leader with such a mind set. Barring divine intervention, it is only a matter of time before this country plunges into full scale armed conflict. May God save Nigeria from all the forces that have now held it hostage.
You better get ready, or relocate to Benin republic. ![]() |
All this SW and Northerners making noise here, I thought you people said oil is not the mainstay of the economy. Why all this noise na. ![]() How much GDP is Niger Delta oil contributing to the economy? cry me a river. We need more rivers to fish oh ![]() |

talktimi: their attitude proves the saying that common sense is really not common, if we use their mentality then in a place like Lagos for example, Fashola shouldn't be congratulated for anything since Tinubu laid all the ground work. In fact Fashola has been reaping where he didnt sow by collecting all these praises and commendations for long. Anuofia progressiveslol @ "progressives" |

Symphony007: How does an airport in enugu help the nigerian economy? As of now, no nigerian airport ranks amongs the best in the world but they keep building the useless things. How about spending all these money on a new MMA with more terminals, runways,gates,etc...so at least we can have "one" airport befeating our status as an african leader.New MMA for Lagos wey other Nigerians need visa? that kind juju no dey work again ooooooooh. Abeg make GEJ try revive Port Harcourt and Warri Ports, and make the Onitsha port operational. I trust Ibos dem no dey dull, dem go just purchase shallow waters ships/container carriers. wetin be the sense to ship goods to Lagos begin transport am to Onitsha. When the goods fit land birth of biafra on ocean-liner and transfer to the shallow water ships like these ones for pix, then customs clearance for Onitsha port. We go know how far.

ujoinme: nothing from that article confirms that chevron and shell have withdrawn from the project only BG withdrawal is confirmed.I disagree with you. It is the same way almost everything is in Lagos. Today people are being deported from Lagos. Tomorrow Ogun and Ondo will do same. They wont remember it is for the development of Nigeria. ![]() |

the ibos have a saying that "a cockroach can never be innocent in a gathering of fowls." ![]() If GEJ does anything positive, it is attributed to OBJ or Yar Adua. Meanwhile he takes the blame for all the failed infrastructures. No Power - Blame GEJ No equipment in Schools and Hospitals - Blame GEJ, etc. ![]() |
guy!!!! i was in abeokuta 3wks ago and i must confess Amosun has done alot buh u guys should stop ridiculing this performing governor all in the name of praise singing. there is no big deal in dis taxi, gbenga daniel done something similar to that in d past, what are the status of cabs he bought then. let stop blowing things out of imagination. just go to delta state and see what Uduaghan has achieved in terms of transportation scheme. i'm a lagosian dnt get it twisted
Uduaghan buses and taxis are even subsidized, don't overload. In fact, people prefer to wait for the Uguaghan buses/taxis instead of board other commercial vehicles. I didn't mention the inter-state part in my earlier post. The buses have been operating since his first tenure and over 90% are still in good condition. |
