R2bees: CAF Humiliate Nigerian Referees Again
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has released a list of referees for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South.
CAF’s list of 18 referees did not include any Nigerian. One Nigerian, Peter Edibe was included in CAF’s list of 21 assistant referees.
The development has angered former President of the Nigeria Football Referees Association (NRA), Senibo Sam Sam Jaja who has put the blame squarely on the doorsteps of the referees committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) led by Suleiman Muazu.
“It’s a dog eat dog situation and I can say without any fear of contradiction that the Suleiman Muazu-led referee’s committee is responsible for this national shame. They are unpatriotic and selfish. How can they tell us no Nigerian is good enough to referee at the Afcon? This is totally unacceptable,” an angry Jaja told supersport.com.
The former referees chief identified Nigeria Premier League (NPL) Fifa graded referee, Solomon Wokoma as one Nigerian referee who would have made the list released by CAF for the 2013 Afcon.
“Solomon Wokoma is one of the most experienced referees in Africa today but it is a shame that in Nigeria, we never support our own.
“While CAF was compiling the names of referees that will officiate at the 2013 Afcon, members of the referees committee were busy running down Wokoma with false claims about his health and trying to fix their stooges on the list. CAF is not stupid and only those with the requisite experience had a chance of making the list. So Nigerians should know who to demand answers from for this national disgrace,” he said. Quizzed on whether the current hiatus of the NPL may have affected the chances of Nigerian referees making the list, Jaja waved away such arguments.
“So how would you explain the inclusion of Egypt’s Gehad Grisha who was included even with the Egyptian league suspended? That had nothing to do with the snub of Nigerian referees by CAF,” he said.
Emmanuel Imiere was the last Nigerian to officiate at the Afcon when he took charge of the Group C game between Zambia and Guinea in Alexandria at the 2006 edition in Egypt.
Jaja was President of the NRA at that time and no Nigerian has officiated at the Afcon since then. since then.

watchinglagos: Security and environmental officials, yesterday, quarantined a ship laden with e-waste which they said is toxic and posed major threat to humans. The ship, M.V Marevia brought in two containers considered very dangerous and sent port officials into a panic mode.
e-Waste consists of old and outdated electronic gadgets and materials such as refrigerators, containing chlorofluro carbons (CFC) or green house gases. According to Mr Dike Ejiogu, a computer Engineer at the Ikeja Computer Village: “Although some of these gadgets were manufactured for human good, the expiration of the chemicals used in manufacturing them converts them to toxins which ironically becomes injurious to human health particularly when the gases are inhaled.
“Besides, they are also environmentally unfriendly as they pollute the air and reduce the oxygen which is the main ingredient of the air we breathe for life” he added.
The vessel which is currently anchored at the Tin-can Island Container Terminal (TICT), was quarantined by officials of the National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) with other port agencies keeping vigil on it.
Reliable sources said the vessel which berthed on January 5 originated from Tilbury in England and that the importers were based at Alaba International Market.
Customs confirm report
Confirming this to Vanguard, Public Relations Officer of Tin-Can Island Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Mr. Chris Osunkwo, said that NESREA had written to the Command informing them that they have intelligence report that a vessel which is erroneously called M.V. Mavia, was coming into the country with two container loads of e-waste.
Osunkwo said that the NESREA officials in the letter said that the vessel should not be allowed to discharge, adding that the inspection would be done onboard the vessel before it is sent back to it’s country of origin. The numbers of the containers are ECMU 9894590 and ECMU 9870858.
Also contacted, Assistant General Manager in charge of Public Affairs of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Ileya Musa, told Vanguard that the management of Tin-Can Island Port was aware of the development, adding that the vessel has since been isolated while the relevant agencies were on ground awaiting the inspection of the vessel.
On where the ship came from, Musa said he did not know but promised to get back to our reporter. He never did at press time.
Efforts to get to the area where the vessel was anchored proved abortive but a source at the TICT told Vanguard that the crew of the vessel had told them that the containers were in transit, adding that the final destination was the United Kingdom.
However, a senior Customs officer who spoke with Vanguard on condition of anonymity , explained that the claim might just be a way of avoiding detention by officials of the Nigerian government.
It would be recalled that NESREA had on several occasions detained some vessels that had brought in e-waste into the country.
Some vessels detained before now were MV Maersk Nashville and M.V. Gumel. Head of NESREA at the port, Mrs. Miranda Amachree, told Vanguard when M.V Gumel was detained that they got intelligence report from their counterparts in Antwerp, Belgium, that the vessel was bringing used fridges, television sets, compressor pots and batteries.
Amachree explained that the report from Antwerp was a result of the agreement entered into by Nigeria and European countries to do away with CFC, which were brought in by the vessel.

In the corporate world low prices are only offered because the buyers number in millions. If microsoft can charge 5k dollars for a software why shouldnt a professional charge well. Despite the large number of lawyers, accountants, architects , surgeons in the country none of them charge beggarly prices instead of bending over to accomodate all comers the fix and continuosly upwardly review their prices . And clients hold them in high esteem people want their children to study law medicine surgery why? Partly because of the impressive fees this folks command. When an indian charges close to nothing who is gains? Who is the baboon? The same client that pays 20k for a website doesnt mind paying 1m+ a year in private school fees for their wards and they lament with pride about how high the fees are . If private schools became cheap dyu think society will respect them or the rich will patronise them? Nothing is as bad as exuding poverty mindedness. Indians are regarded as beggars because of their pricing. The western world has no respect for them, they ment to be used and that's what the has been doing. Politics › Re: Obasanjo: PDP Can Dislodge ACN In Lagos by agitator: 12:44pm On Jan 03, 2013 |
kennytidistar: Former President Olusegun Obasanjo Wednesday said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Lagos State has the political willto dislodge the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in the 2015 elections.
Obasanjo, however, noted that for the PDP to take over Lagos from ACN , the leaders must subjugate their egos and set aside their individual interests for the general interest ofthe party.
The former president stated this when the PDP executives in Lagos State paid him a courtesy visit at his Hilltop residence in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital.
But ACN has accused the PDP of stoking the fire of ethnic and sectional politics by implying that President Goodluck Jonathan is being criticised by opposition parties because he (Jonathan) is from a minority tribe.
Obasanjo, who described PDP as a party in wilderness in the state, noted that leaders of the party needed to work together to build the party.
He expressed optimism that if the leaders and members are united, they could capture power from the ACN in the state.
“If only the leaders would sink their egos andregard the party’s interest as supreme and above that of individuals, then the party will come out strong and able to wrestle power from the ruling party,” he said.
Speaking on the fire incident at his residence last week, the former president said the fire would have killed him if the incident had happened in the middle of the night, describing the damage done by the fire as “enormous.”
He said the fire, which occurred inside the office of his private secretary, consumed a number of inflammable items that aided the fire, resulting in a thick smoke that found its way into his bedroom.
“The fire incident, which occurred in the office of my private secretary, resulted in thick smoke which pervaded my bedroom. If it had happened at night, I would have been a dead person now,” Obasanjo said.
The former president, who was full of praisesto God for sparing his life, as well as protecting him to be part of the living to witness the new year, stated that he had continued to receive telephone calls from within and outside Nigeria over the incident.
“I want to thank all; and all those who called me on phone both within and outside the country. Let us appreciate the mercy and kindness of God. There are many, we started last year together but no more today, we are not mocking them, but to extol God,” he said.
“In fact, that I’m able to stand erect is God’s blessing, Many of my age group cannot standwell, I am not mocking them, but I am thanking God. My hope and prayer is that thisyear 2013 will be a glorious year,” he added.
Earlier in his speech, the Chairman of the Lagos PDP, Tunji Shelle, told Obasanjo that theparty executive came to see him for three reasons. “Our Baba, our leader and our president, we are here for three reasons: to sympathise with you over the fire incident, to celebrate New Year with you, and to get your blessingsfor the 2015 elections,” Shelle said.
The PDP leader said the party thanked God for sparing Obasanjo’s life.
However, the war of words between PDP and ACN over Jonathan’s administration raged on Wednesday.

Justosaus: Nigeria could join a handful of countries including China that would be pivotal in shaping the world’s economy by the year 2030 according to a report by the super secret United States National Intelligence Council, NIC.
The NIC report just released, projects an idea of what the world would look like in the future.
The report which is an articulation of expertise opinion from the US intelligence community released last December, however, admits that it may not be exact.
It is a fact many Nigerian experts would appreciate given earlier expertise opinion from the United States army that Nigeria may implode by the year 2015.
The report could come handy to Nigerian administration officials working towards the goal of putting Nigeria among the top 20 economies by the year 2020. US Ambassador to Nigeria Rennee Sanders
US Ambassador to Nigeria Rennee Sanders
In the report on Global Trends 2030, the report notes that the United States and Europe would be overwhelmed by the economic powers of Asian countries as China and other Asian countries and Brazil take a leading role in dictating the pace of the world economy.
China according to the report would just overtake the US before 2030 as the world’s biggest economy.
Other powers including Nigeria according to the report, would also jump to the top in global economic ranking.
“In addition to China, India, and Brazil, regional players such as Colombia , Indonesia , Nigeria , South Africa and Turkey will become especially important to the global economy,” the report says.
“The diffusion of power among countries will have a dramatic impact by 2030. Asia will have surpassed North America and Europe combined in terms of global power, based upon GDP, population size, military spending, and technological investment.
China alone will probably have the largest economy, surpassing that of the United States a few years before 2030.
“Meanwhile, the economies of Europe, Japan, and Russia are likely to continue their slow relative declines.”
Since its establishment in 1979, the NIC has served as a bridge between the intelligence and policy communities, a source of deep substantive expertise on intelligence issues.
