PoliticsRe: Amotekun: Southwest Governors Turning Amotekun Into A Christian Militia - MURIC by ahaz: 7:37pm On Jan 17, 2020

https://www.informationng.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/MURIC.jpg

Ishaq Akintola, director of the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), has accused southwest governors of turning Amotekun into a Christian Militia by recruiting only Christians.

This accusation was contained in a statement on Friday, while he further alleged that applicants for the ongoing recruitment have been mandated to submit birth certificates registered only in churches.

He said the five Christian governors are ganging up to turn Amotekun to a “crusader militia”, as one out of the six governors in the region is a Muslim.

His words, “Let us make our stand on Amotekun clear from the beginning. MURIC is not allergic to any state or region taking steps aimed at rubber-cushioning the effect of the security challenges currently facing Nigeria. But the approach must be transparent, assuring and all-embracing. ”

“We have no objection to Amotekun. But ‘good intention’ appears lacking in the preparations for it as a security unit that will complement the work of the conventional security agencies. It appears shrouded in secrecy while attempts are being made to marginalize Muslims in the recruitment exercise.

“Or how does one describe the social media advertisement in which applicants are being requested to bring birth certificates from the church. This is most outrageous. Amotekun has not started, but we are already seeing symptoms of Christianisation and Islamophobia.

“Are the job vacancies which Amotekun is certain to open meant for Christians only? Are the southwest states declaring their state as Christian states? Are they joining Nyesome Wike of Rivers in a Christian enclave? Is Amotekun a secret Christian army? Only one out of the five governors in the region is a Muslim. Are the Christian governors ganging up to form a crusader militia?

“Why then must applicants bring birth certificates from churches? Are we sure that this will not be followed by a request for applicants to bring referral letters from pastors? Handlers of Amotekun owe us an explanation.”

BREAKING: Uche Nwosu Petitions Supreme Court To Declare Him Imo Governor

Mr. Uche Nwosu, the son-in-law to former governor of Imo State, Owelle rochas Okorocha, has filed an appeal at the Supreme Court seeking to be declared the governor of the State.

Mr. Nwosu premised his appeal on the Supreme Court judgement that he was the candidate of Action Alliance [AA] and the All Progressives Congress [APC] at the same time during the 2019 governorship election held in the state.

Nwosu’s candidature, it could be recalled, was nullified by the apex court for vying the governorship election on two platforms simultaneously, AA and APC.

In a twist of events, the Court went ahead on Tuesday and removed the governor of the state, Hon. Emeka Ihedioha of the Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] and declared the APC candidate, Senator Hope Uzodinma the duly elected governor of the state.

Senator Uzodinma finished fourth in the election behind Uche Nwosu who came second and Chief Ifeanyi Ararume of the All Progressives Grand Alliance [APGA] who came third.

Consequently, the AA candidate returned to the Supreme Court and urged the court to declared him the winner of the election haven garnered the second highest vote after PDP’s Emeka Ihedioha.

The latest Supreme Court judgement has generated a lot of controversy as the total figure of voters arrived at by the apex court differs with a margin of over 100,000 votes from that issued by the Independent National Electoral Commission [INEC].

See below:

Total Accredited Voters as published by INEC: 823,743.

Total Valid Votes after Supreme Court allocation: 950,952.

PoliticsRe: BMO Rejects UN Hunger Crisis Report In Nigeria by ahaz: 8:33am On Jan 07, 2020
zakim:
The Buhari Media Organisation has rejected a report by the United Nations World Food Programme that without a rapid response and greater investment, Nigeria is at a risk of sliding into a hunger crisis this year. The WFP had listed Nigeria alongside Zimbabwe, South Sudan, Haiti, Central Sahel (Mali, Burkina Western Niger), Democratic Republic of Congo, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Iraq, Southern Africa, Central African Republic, Cameroon, Libya, Bolivia and Ethiopia.

In a statement by Niyi Akinsiju and Cassidy Madueke, Chairman and Secretary of the pro-Buhari group respectively, the BMO described the report as a “hollow and presumptuous” which did not reflect true situation in the country. “We acknowledge WFP’s humanitarian assistance in a part of North-East Nigeria, but we are shocked that it listed the country among ‘potential flashpoints’ to look out for in the New Year’.

“There is no doubt that the UN agency and its partners require greater investment in view of the scope of work they need to handle across the world in 2020, but we won’t accept a situation where Nigeria is painted in a bad light. “Yes, there is a crisis in a part of the North East which was referenced in the report titled ‘WFP Global Hotspots 2020: Potential flashpoints to look out for in New Year’, but there has not been a recent upsurge in violence in the region of the magnitude reflected in the report.

“Besides, the crisis has been largely restricted to a part of Borno, which is just one out of 36 states making up the country and we do not see how that could be interpreted to mean that Nigeria may face a hunger crisis with the type of bumper harvests it has recorded in recent years,” the statement read.

PoliticsRe: How Nigeria Was Sold To The British For 1.1 Million Dollars In 1899 by ahaz: 5:16pm On Jan 04, 2020
legendarystar:
King Koko succeeded in capturing 60 white men as hostages, as well as, several goods and ammunition, though he lost 40 of his men.

King Koko agreed to release his white hostages in exchange for being allowed to choose his trading partners but the British refused to negotiate with Koko, who subsequently killed 40 of the hostages.

As retaliation, Britain’s Royal Navy attacked the area of Brass (Nembe) and burned it to the ground on February 20, 1895, killing many people in the town.

The British, by April 1895, had resumed their normal operations while King Koko was on the run. The people of Brass were fined £500 (today’s $35) by the British while the looted weapons and the surviving prisoners were returned.

King Koko was also reportedly offered terms of settlement by the British, but he rejected it and disappeared.

He was declared an outlaw by the British. He, however, committed suicide in exile in 1898.

The Brass war, however, negatively affected public opinion in Britain against the Royal Niger Company, hence the company’s charter was revoked in 1899.

Following this, the Royal Niger Company sold its holdings to the British government for £865,000 (1.1 million dollars).

That was the amount Britain paid to acquire the area that would later be known as Nigeria.

beautiful peace of history of.. but I beg to disagree were you said"the royal Niger company is today known as unilever"..
The fact is that, Unilever was actually lever brothers a consortium owned by two brothers that started there business as import merchants in Britain long before time.along side, Tate and Lyle which operated in Nigeria in the 70s till in the late 80s were it went bankrupt in Nigeria.
But the royal Niger company was in fact the u. a. c you know of today.. you can research that... once again thanks for the post.

fergie001:
The federal government has appointed Saratu Shafii as acting registrar-general of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).

CAC announced this in a brief statement on Tuesday.

“We wish to inform members of the public of the appointment of Hajiya Saratu Mama Shafii as the Acting Registrar-General,CAC. Her appointment was conveyed by a letter dated 30/12/2019 from the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, the supervising Ministry of CAC,” the statement read.

Until her appointment, Shafii was director of incorporated trustee at the commission.

Her appointment comes a few days after the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) ordered Azuka Azinge to step aside as acting registrar-general of the commission over alleged false declaration of assets.

Azinge was arraigned before the tribunal on an 11-count charge on December 23. She was accused of receiving allowances she was not entitled to as an acting registrar-general of the agency.

In its ruling, the CCT granted the motion ex parte filed by the federal government through Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB), ordering Azinge to step aside pending hearing and determination of motion before the tribunal.

“That defendant / respondent step aside as the Acting Registrar General of Corporate Affairs Commission over allegation of contravening provision of Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act CAP C1 LFN 2004 pending the hearing and determination of Motion on notice dated on the 17th day of December, 2019,” the order read.

“That the Hon. Minister of Trade and Industry and the Chairman of the Board of Corporate Affairs Commissions pending the hearing and the determination of the motion on notice, dated and filed on the 17th day of December, 2019.”

The tribunal adjourned the hearing till January 6.

A video of President Buhari not shaking hands with Senator Remi Tinubu at the 2019 E-Nigeria International Conference, Award and Exhibition in Abuja yesterday November 28th, has got people talking.

Some Nigerians query why he did not shake her like the other male government functionaries. Others however argued that as a Muslim, he is not expected to shake any woman.

This was however countered by some Nigerians who pointed out that the President shook hands with German Chancellor, Angela Merkel when they met sometime ago.

Others argue that the Minister of Communications, Isa Pantami, failed to introduce Senator Tinubu properly to President Buhari, hence his failure to shake her hands.
