Car Talk › Re: One Week Old Tokumbo Car With Engine Problem Please Help by aieromon(m): 3:28pm On Sep 12, 2020 |
Doslop: how do I verify it’s less than 100,000miles do they write mileage on engines sold in Nigeria? The engine block should have the VIN tag. The service history will show the last reported mileage. Even though it's a wild shot in the park, it's better than buying another faulty GDI engine. I suggest you engage a professional to get a good replacement. |
Car Talk › Re: One Week Old Tokumbo Car With Engine Problem Please Help by aieromon(m): 2:48pm On Sep 12, 2020 |
Doslop: Fast forward exactly one week later which is yesterday I started hearing a metallic sound from the engine while I was driving so I quickly rushed to park the car. On calling a mechanic this morning he said the it is crankshaft and connecting rod noise that they have to dismantle the engine and change them or he’ll advise me to buy a new engine that if they repair the one on it it wouldn’t last at all. The engine is notorious for sudden failures at 100,000 miles. Do not bother with repairs. Get a replacement and please get one verified as low mileage using VIN service history providers. |
Car Talk › Re: Car Papers by aieromon(m): 7:24am On Sep 12, 2020 |
DannyJ19: Hello Y'all
My car papers expired in February and didn't renew due to the lockdown. So, today I want to renew it and was told I would pay from the date my papers expired (i.e- there would start counting from feb -feb next year)Instead of the initial date the renewal commenced .
Is this a new policy?
I sha told them I would come back nextweek Your new license date starts running from the last date of expiration. If you default in renewing the vehicle license for the next 5 years, you will pay for all 5 years when next you intend to renew your papers. At least this is true for Lagos licensed vehicles. |

aAK1: So I got to a stand today as I needed to pick up a car. I noticed a hole that was obviously a bullet whole so I asked and they told me robbers shot at the car in transit. My mind is still telling me it might be customs . My main issue is, can one get into trouble for driving that type of car? If you are stopped on the road by a security agency and asked to explain the bullet hole, will you be able to give a logical explanation? A third party answer will not help when sh!t hits the fan. |

Politics › Re: I Bought Power At 62.5 Naira Per Kwh From EEDC against NERC tariff plans by aieromon(m): 9:46am On Sep 08, 2020 |
jmoore: It is better we stick to a topic than deviating. This thread is not about cheap electricity.
The government and power companies should be transparent.
It is better they say everyone will pay 200 Naira per kWh. Then people will have a choice to pay or use their generator or other alternatives.
Not using service areas to DEFRAUD Nigerians. EEDC released a press statement. If you have any issues, follow up with them. They know more about the power supplied to your area and the band you fall into. You have arrived at a conclusion abruptly. |
Politics › Re: I Bought Power At 62.5 Naira Per Kwh From EEDC against NERC tariff plans by aieromon(m): 9:01am On Sep 08, 2020 |
jmoore: But the crucial point which is still evident after arriving at 57.81kwh is that it is still a SCAM. My area has poor access to power supply and shouldn't be charged at that amount.
It is better they make the tariff plans exactly the same for everyone. Not having separate tariff plans they can't implement.
According to the tariff plan, I should be placed on 34 Naira . Service areas have been clustered into bands based on amount of energy distributed and this is why you need to follow up with EEDC. I think we should calm down with the fight for cheap electricity. Do you know that it costs a minimum of ₦120 per kWh to run a generator of 3.3kVA for 6 hours per day? https://www.researchgate.net/publication/338788627_Electricity_Supply_in_Nigeria_Cost_Comparison_between_Grid_Power_Tariff_and_Fossil-Powered_Generator |
Politics › Re: I Bought Power At 62.5 Naira Per Kwh From EEDC against NERC tariff plans by aieromon(m): 8:27am On Sep 08, 2020 |
jmoore: I am using my brain very well. I bought 150 Naira worth of power from EEDC and was given 2.4kwh. If you divide 150 by 2.4, you would get 62.5 Naira per hour.
This is one advantage of knowing maths, so you would know when you are being scammed.
I have epileptic power supply.
If this is not logical to you, then I wonder what's your own agenda. Where did the 7.5% VAT disappear to? ₦150 - (7.5% of ₦150) ₦150 - ₦11.25 ₦138.75 divided by 2.4 gives ₦57.81 per kWh |
Politics › Re: I Bought Power At 62.5 Naira Per Kwh From EEDC against NERC tariff plans by aieromon(m): 8:20am On Sep 08, 2020 |
jmoore: I read everything before I purchased a token and created this thread. My main reason for purchasing is to verify the tariff plans for different bands.
Those bands are scam. I was charged 62.5 Naira per kWh but power supply in my area is pathetic. I wonder your reason for pushing this narrative even after I have shown you the correct calculation. You can easily make enquiries from EEDC and make a logical verification but you have decided not to do so. Good luck with your agenda. |

jmoore: Government and power companies out to milk Nigerians dry.
Few minutes ago, I decided to buy power tokens from EEDC to verify the authenticity of tariff for different categories of people.
I bought 150 Naira worth of power from EEDC and was given 2.4kwh, that means 62.5 Naira per kWh. It should be approximately ₦58 after 7.5% VAT deduction. What payment platform allows one to vend such a small amount? |

icjunior: I called the customer care of nipost,he said my item was sent down to the east on Wednesday, but the post office here as at this morning said nothing has come in...has this happened to anyone before? You should understand that a package goes through several stages of documentation before it is available for pickup. Somebody will acknowledge receipt from Lagos Somebody will register the packages Somebody will put package in letter boxes, prepare for home/office delivery or just place a call/text message to the receiver of the package. These people are working in shifts and it is only when it gets to the last person that you will be contacted. The last person will not perform the duties of anybody at the start/middle of the chain. Nothing to worry about. |
