https://thenationonlineng.net/obis-kinsmen-protest-over-his-failed-promises-to-community-in-anambra/amp/ Obi’s kinsmen protest over his failed promises to community in Anambra. By The Nation on January 7, 2024 The youths of Agulu, Peter Obi‘s kinsmen, in Anaocha local government area of Anambra state, staged a protest against the Labour Party, presidential candidate during the last presidential election, accusing him of abandoning his community with many failed promises. The over 2000 protesters marched through the community with placards with various inscriptions, listing some of the projects he promised his people without accomplishing any during his time as governor of Anambra state. Those projects, according to them, included Obeagu water scheme, judge’s quarters, Fire Service centre, police station among others, adding, “charity begins at home” They also accused him of negligence and abandonment of Agulu General Hospital, while he traveled all over Nigeria and Africa donating huge sums of money. The protesters accused their brother of donating 20 million naira to a General hospital at Nsukka, while the one in his community had been overgrown with weeds with all manner of dangerous reptiles and insects playing ‘samba’ game there. Again, they were not happy with the alleged embezzlement of 40 million naira show your community projects, released by former Governor of the state, Chief Willie Obiano to the community They did not accuse Obi for being responsible for it, but, were angry against the contractor for taking the community for a ride. According to one of the protesters, who spoke with The Nation and simply gave his name as Ugochukwu, the contract for the building of the General Hospital Agulu was awarded by Mr. Peter Obi. Related Posts Kidnappers asked me to make last phone call, says rescued Anambra woman Anambra lawmakers bury National Light Resort, stakeholders hold management retreat in Anambra The source said Obi claimed to have paid over 200 million naira to the contractor (names withheld) for the rehabilitation of the hospital adding that the contractor, had repeatedly denied collecting that amount of money from Peter Obi. However, the angry youths had called on Governor Chukwuma Soludo to wade into the matter as the community had no functional hospital. Another of the protesters, who told The Nation he belonged to the Peoples Democratic party PDP, said Obi had shown wickedness to his people after the way they rallied behind him during all his elections in the area. He said: “We supported him when he brought out Mr Obaze for governorship contest, we also supported him when he presented Mr Ozigbo for another governorship contest and also, supported his presidential pursuit, yet,he treats his people as nothing. It’s not good “We read in the Newspapers and social media the amount of money he distributes both in Nigeria and other African countries, when his people at home are suffering and languishing in abject poverty, who does that? Politics / Are There No Elders Left In The Igbo Land? by ajayidayo2012: 7:06pm On Jun 20, 2017 |
By Olaitan Ladipo… There is a Yoruba saying that when a one-legged man sends his son to the market to buy him one shoe, it is an invitation to insults. When other people are tolerant of your shortcomings, it is foolish to push your luck. Yesterday 14 June 2017, Nigeria woke to news report of yet another declaration, this time from the Southeast, titled 2019: Igbo youths demand presidency or Biafra. A group calling itself Ohaneze Youth Ndigbo Council (OYC) declared that “the South East will not accept any position less than a President of Igbo extraction in 2019”. Most people would ordinarily dismiss this laughable declaration as youthful exuberance, even with the knowledge that many of Nigeria’s so called youth organisations are populated by grandfathers in their sixties. Already, some commentators have described the announcement disdainfully as a propagandist attempt to divert attention from Igbo elders practically on their knees in front of Arewa Professor Ango Abdullahi in Kaduna. Such is the silliness of Nigeria’s politics today. However, the prominence accorded to this story by the Sun, a newspaper that claims, and is generally recognised, to be the ‘voice of the [Biafra] nation’ and the Vanguard, another pro-Igbo newspaper, is an indication that the people of the Southeast take the group and their announcement seriously. In that context, it is reasonable to assume that [majority of] Igbo people support the group’s ultimatum. This insensate declaration closely follows the sit-down order imposed a few days earlier in Southeast towns by Mr Nnamdi Kanu’s Indigenous Peoples of Biafra. That naked coercion is cited by Fulani leadership as the main reason for declaring, a few days ago, their own provocative notice to the Igbo to quit the entire North. Despite the inanity of this new ultimatum by the Igbo, one must admit that it is simply, yet another one of a string of absurdities currently plaguing Nigeria’s polity. Read also: Fear: How Ndigbo Can Convert Retreat Into Advance One such absurdity is the promise yesterday by Acting President Yemi Osinbajo to bring perpetrators of the hate ultimatum issued to the Igbo to book, considering that seated right there in front him at the meeting was perhaps the worst of the culprits, old Fulani gadfly Professor Ango Abdullahi. Having said that, a situation has been created whereby, once again, the question is being asked about the influence, or lack of it, of reasoned opinion in the Southeast. For at least three good reasons. Firstly, it appears that the Igbo are not in a hurry to shed the reputation for starting what they cannot finish. They do not appear to have learnt anything since July 1967 about the futility of mere bluster, including rebel leader Emeka Ojukwu’s boast just before the war that “no power in black Africa can subdue me”. Even though the Igbo had good reason to break away, there were alternatives to war which Igbo leaders refused to utilise. Humanitarian supporters of the Igbo cause cautioned against the headlong rush to war, including Professor Wole Soyinka who warned that “bluff is not a substitute for bullets’. Secondly, never before has it become this crucial that older Igbo generation begin to educate the younger ones truthfully about the history of the crises of Nigeria. It is prevalent among post civil-war Igbo to situate the genesis of Nigeria’s problems casually at the door of the Northern Nigeria pogroms of 1966. That narrative callously ignores that the whole issue started when military thugs led by Igbo Majors Emmanuel Ifeajuna and Chukwuma Nzeogwu stole in the middle of the night to murder Northern Nigeria and Yoruba leaders in their beds and in front of their families. Subsequent revelations affirm that the murders were carried out at the behest of a few, and tacit approval of many, Igbo politicians of the day. No amount of propagandist rewriting of history by the likes of the late Chinua Achebe will change the truth. One of the insults that the Igbo continue to slap onto the injury they did to the Yoruba on the night of 6 January 1966 is to believe somehow that the Yoruba are grateful that they murdered Chief Samuel Ladoke Akintọla. They believe also that the Yoruba would have been equally glad had they murdered his deputy, Chief Rẹ̀mí Fani-Káyọ̀dé, who was only saved by the skin of his teeth when Lieutenant Colonel Yakubu Gowon rescued him from his would-be Igbo murderers. They are probably unaware of the Yoruba saying that however unruly a child might be, the parents would never hand him to the tiger to devour. Chief Akintọla, even though a rebel to the Yoruba national cause, was a brilliant Yoruba son. Akintola’s deputy, Rẹmi Fani-Kayọde, Queen’s Counsel QC and Senior Advocate of Nigeria SAN, was one of the most brilliant lawyers ever to come out of Britain and Nigeria. While the vengeful pogrom subsequently carried out in the North is inexcusable, there is no need for the Igbo to continue to scratch old wounds open by inspiring insensitive and deliberately provocative historical amnesia. Thirdly, the statement exposes the hypocrisy and lip service that the Igbo pay to democracy. What the Igbo are demanding—undemocratic imposition of a President— is exactly what the progressive elements in the country have been fighting, and literally dying, for in the last sixty years. Of course, the Igbo would not know because they have hardly been part of that sacrifice in the same way and extent as other parts of the country like the Southwest, South-South and the Middle Belt. As if nothing has happened in between, the Southeast are once again attempting to force Igbo leadership on the country like they did in 1966. The same mindset apparently informs Igbo inability to play opposition role in a democracy. Chief Awolowo’s principled opposition to feudal hegemony and Yoruba commitment to democracy kept the Southwest in perpetual opposition for generations including even eight [of the twelve] years that Yoruba man Obasanjo was in government but not in power. Despite their claim that “no Igbo has been allowed to get close to the seat of power for decades”, whatever they mean by that, it is an established fact that Goodluck Jonathan’s was all but in name an Igbo government. One of the biggest undermining of Nigeria’s new democracy is the way that so many leading Igbo members of that administration have decamped to the ruling All Progressives Party. It is amazing that the group would cite President Obasanjọ’s statement to beg the Igbo, and Acting President Yẹmi Ọṣinbajo’s statement to keep the national marriage intact, as supporting grounds for their claim. The fact that these are elderly manner of dealing with a petulant child seems completely lost on the whole of Southeast. It makes you wonder the more where the numerous elder statesmen of Igbo land are. https://www.ripplesnigeria.com/no-elders-left-igbo-land/ |
Politics / Letter Of Resignation Written By Ojukwu's Chief Propangadist; THE TRUTH by ajayidayo2012: 6:35pm On Jun 05, 2017 |
The truth will always prevail. Many thanks to you, Mr Robert Goldstein. STARVING BIAFRANS This is the letter of resignation written by Ojukwu's Chief Propangadist and International PR person. So when next an Igbo man accuses Awolowo and Yoruba people of starving Biafrans, do not get mad, educate them. Many of them are ignorant of facts. "OPEN LETTER OF RESIGNATION TO ODUMEGWU OJUKWU FROM Robert S. Goldstein Public Relations Representative of Biafra in the United States (Published in the Morning Post, Lagos, August 17, 1968) As your Public Relation's Representative in the United States, it is my distasteful duty to tender my resignation based on the following points: POINT 1 - In November of 1967 when we met in Umuahia, you and your Cabinet were very impressive. You told me of the woes of your little Republic, that thousands of people had died, were dying and more were prepared to die for freedom's sake. You and your Cabinet told me you believed world opinion would help your cause if you could get your story across. You expressed the opinion that very few if any people in the United States knew of the plight of the Biafrans. You asked me to tell the world that Britain had teamed up with Russia in a conspiracy with the Federal Government of Nigeria to murder every Ibo in Biafra. You suggested I use my talents to induce the Press to write about the Biafran side of the war, as at that time all news came out of Lagos. You will recall I did not take the asssignment that day but stayed on several days before deciding to take that job. To help win the peace At that time I stated to you and your cabinet that I was taking the assignment making it crystal clear I would try my best to help win the peace not the war. POINT TWO - I immediately arranged the first world Press conference in Biafra inviting the US Press as well as journalists and television people from England, France, Switzerland, Africa and other parts of the Globe. This was the first news break through. I arranged regular trips into Biafra for the world Press, helped set up stringers, etc., so that your statements and the statements of your Cabinet would be heard. At that time, I was absolutely positive you were right and your cause was a just one in the best interests of the free world and your countrymen. POINT THREE - Finally the Republic of Biafra was recognized first by Tanzania, then quickly followed by Gabon, the Ivory Coast and Zambia. Our public relations work was paying off, world opnion was starting to side with us. Peace talks were arranged at Kampala. I thought that if anyone walked away from the table it would be the Federal Government. But to my dismay it was Biafra that left the Conference. After all the fighting and killing, I knew that peace would not come easy but I could not understand leaving the Peace Conference until the last point was negotiated and the avenue explored. POINT FOUR - Then urgent telex messages were received from 'Biafra' telling of tens of thousands of people starving in the refugee camps, the villages, the bush country - stating if something werent done in the next few months over a million women, children and aged would be starved to death. I immediately contacted the Press, urgently petitioned the State Department for action on their part. Food, medicine and milk were sent to the only available ports open for immediate shipment to 'Biafra' via land routes through Federal and Biafra territory, under the auspices of world organizations such as the International Red Cross among others. Then came the incredible answer from 'Biafra' that land corridors could not be acceptable until there was a complete ceasefire, and that an airlift was the only solution to feed the starving. You then appeared before the various Heads of State and representatives of the OAU at Niamey in Niger. I fully expected you to at least accept the world help that was offered your starving throngs. However, you delayed, hoping to use these unfortunates with world sympathy on their side as a tool to further your ambition to achieve war concessions at the upcoming peace talks in Addis Ababa. Thus innocent victims continue to perish needlessly of starvation, the most agonising death that can befall any living creature. POINT FIVE - This was incredible to me. I am now convinced that I have been used by you and your cabinet to help in military adventures of your origin....using your starving hordes as hostages to negotiate a victory. If at some later date, following the isuance of this letter, you do concede to allow a mercy land corridor...would you expect me to agree to espouse before the world Press the incredible delay of your decision. What explanation could I honestly give for the needless prolongation of this horror. Inconceivable acts I pray this communication may in some small way influence you to move affirmatively, allowing the mercy land corridor to be born. It is inconceivable to me that you would stop the feeding of thousands of your countrymen (under auspicies of world organizations such as the International Red Cross, World Council of Churches and many more) via a land corridor which is the only practical way to bring in food to help at this time. It is inconcivable to me that men of good faith would try to twist world opinion in such a manner as to deceive people into believing that the starvation and hunger that is consuming 'Biafra' is a plot of Britian, Nigeria and others to commit genocide. POINT SIX - I cannot in all conscience serve you any longer. Nor can I be a party to suppressing the fact that your starving thousands have the food, medicine and milk available to them.....it can and is ready to be delivered through international organizations to you. Only your constant refusal has stopped its delivery. I am this date, tendering my resignation and am returning to Mr. Collins Obih of the African Continental Bank all the fees you have given me (Letter of Credit No. 354 $400,000 US.) I have sent your representative in New York a Bond in the amount of 800.000 pounds that I was holding in your behalf. I have also this date, sent the Bond of 200,000 pounds issues by the Central Bankl of Nigeria back to them for disposal. POINT SEVEN - I am now convinced that one Nigeria is the only solution to peace. I also call upon you Mr. Ojukwu to allow your starving people to be fed. Their well-being is of deep concern to me as well as other right thinking people of the world. Your acting in the utmost haste in this matter is in my opinion the first step toward any lasting peace in your country." Robert S. Goldstein |

Politics / Re: Buhari Appointing Osinbajo As Coordinator Is An Impeachable Offence – Adegboruwa by ajayidayo2012: 12:21pm On May 10, 2017 |
With respect, my learned senior is out of line on this one. The provision of section 145(1) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended) goes thus " whenever the President is proceeding on vacation or is otherwise unable to discharge the functions of his Office, he shall transmit a written declaration to the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives to that effect, and until he transmits to them a written declaration to the contrary, the Vice President shall perform the functions of the President as the Acting President". this provision of the law produced in literati verbatim shows clearly that as long as the President has written a letter to the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of representatives, the Vice President automatically becomes the President by operation of law. the authority to act as acting president is not conferred by the president or anybody in fact. When the late former President Yaradua took ill circa 2008/2009, he did not even transmit a letter to either the President of the Senate or the Speaker of the House of Representatives for obvious improper intent. The choice of words, syntax or semantics of the letter of the President is of no import. The important thing is that the letter has been transmitted and Vice President Osinbajo is vested with the title of the Acting President by due operation of the law. Femi Fani Kayode, Adegboruwa and their ilk should stop crying wolf when there is none for cheap political gains. 1 Like |

Politics / Fayose The Sympathetic Undertaker by ajayidayo2012: 8:07pm On Jan 25, 2017 |
Fayose, The PDP Sympathetic Undertaker Arrives Posted by: Ripples News in Graffiti January 25, 2017 By Joe Igbokwe… My family, the Igbokwe family of Uruagu Nnewi, Anambra State is one of the largest families in Igboland and Nigeria. It is made up of 19 families with each man having not less than three wives. My father had four wives with 23 surviving children. The family has become so large we now hardly recognize all Igbokwe kids. A few years back we had the need to elect a new chairman to run the affairs of the big family and pilot it to greatness. A decision was taken, and somebody was picked. When the news filtered into our families concerning the choice we made one elderly woman screamed to high heaven: “Is that what you men can offer us? Is there no one else you can find? Did you not ask questions? Don’t we have men any longer?” and the mama concluded: “If that this what you can find to lead the family at a time like this, then Igbokwe is finished. You have picked a blind man to lead the family. Disaster beckons!” Few days ago PDP Governors gathered to elect the loquacious Governor, and low thinker Fayose of Ekiti State as the new chairman of the PDP Governors Forum. Read also: Why President Buhari Ran(n) to Gambia and Away From Rann At first, I thought it was a joke, but it came out to be a reality. At once many questions hit my head: how can a blind man lead a blind man? How can the crippled be the last man standing for PDP? How can you use shoes for a hammer? How can a car move forward when the gear is on the reverse? How can a man who does not know that 4+4 is 8 be a professor of mathematics? Can iron turn to gold? Can a goat give birth to a lion? Can you give what you do not have? Can someone jump from Ikoyi to Victoria Island across the Lagoon? Can a carpenter become a pilot overnight? Can one hand cover the sun? Can wood sharpen iron? Can a car move without tyres or engine? Now, do you know what? I suddenly realized that there is no man in the house of PDP to think properly again. There is no wise man left in the house to encourage PDP to live. I shed hot tears that after 16years in power with all its resources, with all the governors they paraded and still parade today, and with all their connections and deed pocket, Fayose is the only person they can pick to lead the PDP’s Governors forum. I concluded that PDP has lost everything. PDP has entered the bottomless pit and reached the point of no return. PDP dies! How can a liar from the pit of hell heal PDP? Fayose lied against Buhari and others. Fayose did not win the Governorship election in Ekiti State. Fayose lies about everything. He speaks before he thinks. Fayose lacks common sense, simple elementary knowledge of diplomacy and training in social graces. Fayose was involved in the Dasuki Armsgate scandal. Government business for Fayose is on the roadsides, markets, mechanic workshops, food canteens, Okada parks, so long as there are TV stations and photographers to record the shows. The truth is that I know that PDP will go down but what I did not know is that it is going to be too soon. I know that PDP will be desolate, decimated, and desecrated in Nigeria but I did not know that it is going to be soon. I have known that the looters, the plunders, the scavengers and the unconscionable thieves in PDP will go down, but I did not know it is going to be too soon. Ah, ah, the final undertaker, Fayose is here, and hope is lost for PDP. Fayose is a roaring lion that kills no game. I am told that a State or Country dies when you elect an incompetent person to occupy an important position. George Bush tells me that the loudest person in the room is not always the strongest. Now, who removed PDP’s thinking cap? Who stole their brains? Who did this to PDP? Who bewitched PDP? Now, who will rescue PDP? Nobody. Who will help PDP to stand? None. Can PDP rise again? No, not when Fayose is the pilot. Case Rested! Ripples Nigeria… without borders, without fears https://www.ripplesnigeria.com/fayose-pdp-sympathetic-undertaker-arrives/ |
