Good morning fellas, in as much as I appreciate the ongoing debate, I beg to disagree with the statement above that the DPR list will be forwarded to the NASS, this is not true. From my experience as an intern in the NASS, the agencies where recruitment lists are forwarded to are FCC (to ensure that Federal Character is applied in the selection process) and the parent Ministry in this case Petroleum (For approval). Also, from my findings, the list has left the Department for the Minister's approval and in a couple of weeks APLs will start dropping.
yea bro

For the person that says the list will go through NASS, and for the people that support that, I have just one question for you.

What will the national assembly do with the list?

Are you saying it going to go to the senate or HOR or both have a joint session just like when the president is presenting the budget, so as just to pass the list of successful candidates?

Why dnt you just say they will invite the 400 successful candidates and screen them one after the other just the way ministers are screened?

National Assembly has nothing to do with the list. Not even the house or senate committee on petroleum.

The only way they can get involved, is request / beg the authorities in DPR that their candidates be taken and those ones have the right to refuse, especially if it's just a mere senator or HORM and not a ranking one.

Your best bet of getting in is knowing someone in authority in DPR, NNPC or MPR. Offcourse the presidency included.
grin grin Did you just say NASS has nothing to do with the list? Ok, let me "come and be going".....I'm sure even if I explain some things and even give evidence, some will still doubt. Let's all just wait for the final outcome.

They are through with selections, the list is no longer with DPR, at the moment the list is going through FCC-NASS-MPR and back to DPR for approval.

Now all these don't really matter, what matters here mostly is that, they don't tamper with the list as it goes through these offices, trust me what goes out is not what comes back in, and dpr dare not query it.. It is one thing to be shortlisted on merit by dpr and another thing to be successful/favored at the end. I guess this is where intense prayer is needed cos this is neither apt test nor interview stage where individual ability is required, this is that stage or phase where the powers that be, or the principalities and powers operates..
Lol....very correct. At least, I can confirm that of NASS. They should receive the copy of the list (that is if they havent already) this week. I mean the senate cmtee on FCC. And there is also the House cmttee. At the end, na Baba God sure pass.

Thanks for the diligence and effort taken in posting this, but I would appreciate if it's removed from this site, this isn't whatsapp which is private, it's an entire open forum, it's kinda intrusive on people's privacy, I believe anybody who took the exam knows where to look for the result, better still share links. Thank you

She was clear about her source of information which was from the last intake (which invalidates the bolded) but you've provided no source for yours (especially as you've stated you're not yet a DPR employee) so in the absence of superior information on entry level pay like I said, her figures remain the most valid.

NCC - 220K/monthly with annual upfront of 4.6m for entry level. I'm not sure of NIMASA but I've heard from rumours that it's over N200,000 and I havent confirmed this.

sorry to tell you, you are just assuming, FCC is more powerful than you think.
Lol, he has no idea. NBMA had budgetary provisions for recruitment in 2017 but couldnt recruit. Why? FCC refused to approve their request? Why? Topic for another day. No parastatal can recruit without FCC's knowledge or input. Yes, they are that powerful!

Guys, my own view of this federal character that is disturbing everybody: By the time DPR does has put together their list of successful candidates, which will include those on merit and by connection, it is 99.9% certain that the list will automatically be complying with federal character provisions. Even it not by state, it surly will be complying by zones.

So anyone hoping on federal character to get in is wasting his time. The best way to get in is merit or connection.
Dont be 99% sure about anything in Nigeria. FCC are known to flout their own rules. One thing for sure is that the slot allocation can never be 100% fair or 100% in accordance with the initial plan because of intense pressure from several quarters including from FCC themselves. Also, they will always overshoot the initial number to be recruited for same reasons. Although, the margin isnt always much.

What if a state has just 5 slots on merit and ONLY 5 candidates from that state have the minimum cut off mark for interview?
You still dont get it. There is nothing like "slot on merit", slot is slot and the available number is to be shared by both people of interest and those who merit it.

From my understanding, the idea of quota system is to reshuffle. A particular state mit already be well represented in the organisation so it is possible to cut out that state assimilation. Correct me if I'm wrong on the quota system function tho
Right!
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Department Of Petroleum Resources - 2016 Graduate Trainee &experienced Hire Job by Ajisebioyolaari: 10:43pm On Dec 20, 2017
As for Federal Character, it is everything in this recruitment and that is all I can say. For example, I stumbled on the fed. character sharing formular for the ongoing NCC recruitment. Some states have just 2 slots, some 3, some have no slot at all. The slots were shared using positions i.e State X, 2 slots, level 8 and 13. State Y, 3 slots, level 8, 9 and 12 etc. Another method may be adopted for DPR but slots per state will never be equal. D current nominal roll of an agency will determine which states or region already have too much representation and which states are disadvantaged due to low or no representation. Therefore, this is used in d next recruitment to balance representation.

I really envy you guys that were asked relatively simple questions at the interview. Did mine at Lagos & it was a tug of war. I was asked questions in geology, engineering, toxicology and envt science. One of the interviewers (a PhD holder whom I've met before at a conference) made me to understand that an environmentalist should have basic knowledge of geology and engineering to succeed at DPR. We argued back and forth on EIA, EER, baseline study, BOD in relation to toxicity, if water is harmful or not and why, if water is a chemical or not and why, bioremediation, oil spill management etc. Even the current affairs questions were unusual. I was asked which state appointed comissioner for happiness, d appointee's gender and full name. Name of PDP chairman and by how votes did he win. Who were the other contestants? The title and full name of the paramount ruler in my state. I was asked to name 2 other first class rulers in my state and if the head of the traditional council seat was rotationary or not. I was later asked about my postgraduate research, my project supervisor (who is well known to the interviewer) and why I want 2 work as an environmentalist with DPR. I was also asked if I have a relative at DPR. I spent over 35 minutes and exhausted my saliva. Lol. Then what professional qualifications I had. Was told having a MSc/MA/MEng etc is 6 marks. Was told that Results and profiles were uploaded into the cloud immediately after each interview session.

some people reduce their age to the extent that they started their primary school at the age of 3. lol
I'm not trying to refute your claim about age falsification. However, between ages three to four is the recommended age to start primary 1 according to several UBEC reports/recommendations. It is even on wikipedia. Education is evolving and we now have university graduates at age 17-18. My niece gained admission into uniport at age 14, and completed her MSc last year at age 21+. Even though federal universities have now pegged their entry age to 16, state and private universities still accept lower age groups. The fact say you start primary school at 7 no mean say another person no fit start earlier.
