Kindness is a personal trait, not a national attribute.
Of course, it is not a national attribute, but how many of your Nigerian lecturers possess such personal trait?

There is always a very wide gap between Nigerian lecturers that had touch(es) of foreign education and Nigerian lecturers who had all their academic certificates here in Nigeria, talking about the lecturer-student relationship and interaction
You're right. The ones who schooled abroad are a little more jovial than their colleagues who never left the shores of Nigeria for education.

Nigerian Lecturers are not that bad

back then I saw 22 as my GST English score on the notice board and my exam was written ABSENT.

so i complained to one of my lecturer. I was surprised how quietly he stood up and said lets go to the GST dept...we went there and he enter the office and bla bla bla some minutes later he came out with the lecturer and we went to the exam office and I was told to find by paper.

i went straight to my group and was searching and BOOM I saw my exam Booklet with a Big (46)

46+22=68 i.e B

the lecturer apologizes and immediately corrected it

BUT i said BUT
if it's the university that am in right NOW, if you have a C.O whether you failed it or the fault is from them just forget it and register for the course again

i won't tell the name of the Uni sha but it's in the Middle belt and their fee is 45K grin
Of course, everyone cannot be the same. Good luck in your new university. grin

If you are a Nigerian like me who has not crossed the border to another country all your life, then you should be able to appreciate what 14-year-old Praise Kelechi Onuoha does with carton and glue. In fact, if you had a really eventful childhood like me, his creativity should remind as well as inspire you to invent.

When I was younger, fellow boys and even girls on my street had miniature challenges to find out who would create the best structures with carton and glue.

Our parents, being what they are, mostly discouraged us because they felt we were overdoing it (as if they did not have their own childhood memories).

Some of us who could not build theirs at home for fear that their parents would beat the living daylights out of them sought adequate venues which would accord them the opportunity. Fortunately, they found solace in 'general yards' or what you might call 'face me, I face you house' and were able to make good use of them after school hours.

Looking back now, I find myself wistful to relive those years of childhood innocence. Apologies to you if you were not lucky enough to have a childhood like ours.

Praise Kelechi Onuoha is a 14-year-old talented young boy who calls himself a costume designer. He designs varieties of costumes, the likes of the Captain America shield, the mountain-crushing hammer of Thor, Batman mask etc. with carton and glue.

He strongly believes that everyone has the power to become whatever they want to be, be they rich or poor.

Praise Kelechi recently built the Marvel superhero, 'Iron Man' with just his signature pieces of carton and glue. But he does not have everything he needs to make such structures, hence he improvises. For instance, in place of glue which is not readily available, he melts styrofoam in petrol to produce a sticky substance which he uses to glue cut cartons together.

Schooling in Nigeria can be exciting and interesting, but at other times it can be super stressful. If you are a student in a Nigerian university, you would agree that most lecturers are not jovial with their students. Reason for this remains unknown.

Although some Nigerian lecturers may argue that students tend to take them for granted or get carried away if they become jovial or playful with them. Students on their part, believe that Nigerian lecturers are unnecessarily strict, and wish to be worshipped as demigods.

Recently, a young Nigerian man, Olabinjo asked compatriots who live abroad to share experiences which surprised them, an event which came as a crude culture shock to them simply because it is totally different from what is obtainable in Nigeria. Apparently, Olabinjo had experienced series of surprising events during his stay abroad to want to know what other Nigerians who live abroad had encountered. Talk about not wanting to feel alone.

Many jumped at the question to share some of their diverse experiences from school, place of work, in traffic, at the supermarket etc., but for this piece, let us focus on the reaction of Nigerians who live and school abroad.

TravelIf You Intend To Travel Abroad, Read These 30 Reactions Carefully by AJohnnasa(op):
Work, school, and life in general can be stressful, but imagine having to travel outside Nigeria to relax after all the stress already encountered to find that almost everything you know here amounts to nothing. As in, that they are almost completely useless in the West, Europe or in general term, the abroad. Imagine the embarrassment!

It is a giving that the culture (or mentality, if you like) in Nigeria is different from what is obtainable in the United States, the United Kingdom or anywhere else in the world for that matter. However, if you are ever in doubt as to how very different it can be, these photos or screenshots will definitely put you in a good place.

For this piece, we would use Twitter reactions of Nigerians who live abroad after Olabinjo Adeniran asked them to share their experiences.

Most of these reactions are hilarious, but let us begin with this one which I found really amusing.

You know how we like to greet in Nigeria. In the popular parlance, we can greet for Africa! With and for everything, including for sitting and doing nothing. Here, "Happy new month" is as common and normal as "Good morning" but in the country where Fluffy Akara resides, it is an awkward salutation.

Have you ever greeted someone and they made you feel stupid?

I was in church today and pastor said everyone should sow a new year seed on the 1st of January. He said the seed must be in a very robust envelope. Where I got angry was, he cautioned his members to be sure they sow the seed before embarking on their Christmas holiday trip. That he doesn’t want stories where the money that was supposed to be used to sow the seed was given to mama, sister, uncle, brother in the village to buy tomatoes huh
Ngwababe, pastor must do Christmas.
