Crime › Re: Police Arrest Officer Who Beat FUTA Student by ajumma(m): 5:50pm On Aug 27, 2019 |
celebgistz2: The Ondo State Police Command on Tuesday said it had arrested one of its men, who allegedly beat and injured a female student of the Federal University of Technology, Akure.
Some students of the institution were said to have had an encounter with some policemen attached to the ‘A’ Division Police Station, Akure, Ondo State capital, on Sunday night leading to one of them being injured by a policeman.
The identities of the victim and that of the policeman had not been revealed as of the time of filing this report. Video of the encounter had already gone viral on social media.
In the viral video, a young woman ( FUTA student) was seen with one of her eyes bleeding and she kept saying, “Look at my eyes.”
When contacted on the development, the Police Public Relations Officer Mr Femi Joseph, confirmed the incident and said the erring police officer had been arrested and would face trial.
Joseph, who declined to reveal the identity of the cop, however, explained that the matter involved two students, who were on a motorcycle and were drunk on Sunday night.
He said that the students refused to be checked by the policemen, who were on patrol.
He said, “The students were stopped by the policemen on patrol on Sunday night, and when they were asked to open the bag they held, they refused, that was what caused an argument between them, leading to one of them to slightly push the lady. But because the lady was drunk, she fell down and got injured.
“In spite of that, as I am speaking with you now, the policeman in question has been arrested and will face trial today ( Tuesday). He would definitely be punished. ”
The President of the FUTA Student Union Government, Abraham Esedere, said he was at the police headquarters over the matter and promised to call back.
“I’m at the police headquarters, I will call you back after I leave here,” he told our correspondent on the telephone.

jesmond3945: Op your write up is purely your opinion. It is only an idiot that would go abroad to get a degree just to come and land a job in naija. Your abroad degree gives you international experience, exposes you on how to interact and collaborate with multinationals, exposes you to latest in technology and how to conduct independent study, most importantly how to make logical arguments and present your information. There are other benefits. You cannot compare the efficiency of someone who schooled abroad and someone in Nigeria to a job, they are miles apart. So dont judge the quality of a degree from the point of getting local jobs but what impact it creates in the economy. Afterall it is not their fault that Nigeria rewards mediocrity. There is nothing worse for a woman who already has a taste of the thrills and excitement of waking beside a hubby every morning and no longer does. Ask divorcees and widow/er. It is one journey in memory lane they would rather avoid.
To my fellow men, it is your duty to bring love home and the duty of the woman to incubate and multiply it. Just as you cannot expect to eat what has not been provided, so also you can get love in abundance when you have not given it to her. A woman by nature is a receiver, an incubator, reciprocator, and a multiplier. Evidence is found in sex, childbirth, structure of the reproductive organs, abilities in business and the power to return love in excess proportion.
Written words will no permit me to explain in great details how to bring love home and present it to her to start the process. It is in my belief that a man holds the greatest part in the work to attain of a fine union.

Crime › Husband Killing: Court Decides On Maryam Sanda Today by ajumma(op): 11:53am On Apr 04, 2019 |
An FCT High Court in Maitama has fixed today for ruling on a no-case submission filed by Maryam Sanda, charged with the alleged killing of her husband, Bilyaminu Bello.
A no-case submission literally means an application by the defendant submitting that the prosecution had not led enough evidence to warrant for conviction or for the defendant (s) to defend herself.
If the application succeeds, the defendant (s) will be discharged and acquitted. However, if it fails, the defendant (s) will be ordered to open her defence.
Maryam is being tried before the court presided over by Justice Yusuf Halilu for allegedly killing Bello, a nephew of former PDP Chairman, Alhaji Bello Halliru Muhammad.
A
She was docked alongside her brother, Aliyu Sanda; her mother, Maimuna Aliyu and her housemaid, Sadiya Aminu, who were charged with assisting her to conceal the evidence by cleaning the blood of the deceased from the scene of the crime. They pleaded not guilty.
Police had subsequently called six witnesses to corroborate the charge.
At the last hearing yesterday, Maryam had through her counsel, Olusegun Jolaawo, told the court that the prosecution had not made a prima facie case against her to warrant her to defend herself.
She then urged the court to uphold the no case submission and discharge her of the murder charge.
Also, counsel for the three other defendant, Hussein Musa, in his submission urged the court to discharge and acquit the defendants because the prosecution did not adduce enough evidence to warrant them to enter defence.
However, the prosecution counsel, Fidelis Ogbobe, while urging the court to dismiss the no-case submission, submitted that the prosecution had made out enough evidence to warrant the defendants to enter defence in the case.
He said there is enough evidence that linked the defendants to the crime, and as such, they have to make their defence to the charge. |
Business › Breaking: 9mobile:court Nullifies Sale Of Etisalat by ajumma(op): 11:21am On Apr 04, 2019 |
A Federal High Court in Abuja has set aside the sale of telecommunication firm, Etisalat International Nigeria Limited (9mobile) to Teleology Nigeria Limited.
Justice Binta Nyako, in a ruling, voided all steps taken in relation to the exchange of ownership of Etisalat despite pending orders for maintenance of status quo, restraining parties to a suit, involving investors and other stakeholders in the company, from destroying the res (subject matter).
Justice Nyako, who noted that parties were all aware of the existence of the suit, the defendants having been served between April 24 and 27, 2018 with the originating process, faulted the sale, as claimed by the plaintiffs in a motion filed on November 16, 2018.
The judge held: “Any action that has been taken concerning the rest of this litigation from the 25th day of April, which is earlier in time, should revert to the position, as of the res, to its 25th day of April 2018.”

Islam › Re: Ruling On Wearing Shoes/Sandals When Performing Salat by ajumma(m): 10:17am On Mar 29, 2019 |
MAbdulsamod: Question:
I watched a video on Facebook seeing people praying with their shoes on. Please, I need an authentic Quran verse or Hadith that permit this.
Answer:
All praise be to Allah. Praying with shoes (sander, slippers) is allowed in Islam, base on authentic sayings of the Prophet (peace be upon him) which are as follows:
Narrated Abu Maslama: Said bin Yazid Al-Azdi: I asked Anas bin Malik whether the Prophet had ever, prayed with his shoes on. He replied "Yes." (Sahih Bukhari: Volume 1, Book 8, Number 383)
Abdullah ibn Masud said: We have certainly seen the messenger performing prayers with his shoes on. (Abu Dawood, Prayers, 88)
GUIDELINE REGARDING PRAYING IN SHOES
In Islam, it is a fundamental requirement which is obligatory on every Muslim who is about to perform salaah to be in a clean state. The whole body must be free from impurities.
Before you pray with your shoes, you must make sure that it is free from impurities and dirt. Look thoroughly to see if there is any dirt under the shoes and if you find one remove it before praying in them or preferably do not pray in them if you are not sure whether the impurities are completely gone.
According to the sayings of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) by Abu Sa’eed al-Khudri who said:
“While the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was leading his companions in prayer, he took off his shoes and placed them to his left. When the people saw that, they took off their shoes too. When the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) finished his prayer, he asked, ‘What made you take off your shoes?’ They said, ‘We saw you take off your shoes, so we took ours off too.’ The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, ‘Jibreel (peace be upon him) came to me and told me that there was something dirty on them.’ When any one of you comes to the mosque, let him look and if he sees anything dirty on his shoes, let him wipe them and then pray in them.” (Abu Dawood, 650; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Abi Dawood, 605).
The above Hadiths have acknowledged that it is permissible to wear shoes during salaah. But base on the agreed opinion of scholars they have analyzed where to pray and where not to pray in shoes.
WHERE YOU CAN PRAY WITH SHOES?
At home Outdoors (such as beaches, playground, e.t.c) Battle field
WHERE YOU SHOULD NOT PRAY WITH SHOES?
During the time of the Prophet (peace be upon him), the floor of their mosques was made of ground which is quite different today, where mosques are now beautifying with carpets or rugs. Wearing shoes on these textiles may add dirt to it. So, it is acceptable to put off shoe before entering the mosque so as not to pollute the floor or carpet.
But if your shoes or slippers is very clean, and not staining the floor or carpet, there is nothing wrong in wearing in it inside the mosque.
WHY DID THE PROPHET (PEACE BE UPON HIM) PRAY IN SHOES?
The Prophet (peace be upon him) prayed in shoes because it is the way of Jews who do not pray in their shoes on.
“Be different from the Jews, who do not pray in their shoes or in their leather slippers (khufoof).” (Abu Dawood, 652; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Abi Dawood, 607).
