divinelove:The ignorance in this post is as thick as Sambisa Forest. Does that mean that Awolowo was sworn in as a President too, or Mandela was once a President of Nigeria? At least, since you can post here, it shows you have data, why not use some to Google "GCFR" and see what comes out for your enlightenment? |
geometricaxis:The law is NOT ambiguous. Section 3 Paragraph 3 enables the President to suspend the provisions of Paragraph 2. Once the requirement for the award to be received in person as stipulated by Paragraph 2 is suspended, it means that provision is no longer required. The President has rightly, and legally, exercised his discretion as granted him by the laws of the Federation to do the right thing. |
chronique:Any person is ANY person, that person can be short, tall, dead, alive, in ICU, hospitalized. In law, so long as there is no statement to exclude a dead person, then a dead person is allowed. |
chronique:Actually you and your ilk are the ones that are ignorant of the law! While Section 3, Paragraph 2 stated that the awards are to be received in person, which is the basis for the "not posthumous" scream, the very next Paragraph, Paragraph 3, stated clearly that (3) If in the case of any person it appears to the President expedient to dispense with the requirements of paragraph (2) of this article, he may direct that that person shall be appointed to the rank in question in such a manner as may be specified in the direction. That clearly, allows the President to suspend the provisions of Paragraph 2 if he so wishes. You guys need to read the law COMPLETELY. |
delugajackson:Truth is, many people are gullible because they simply cannot read and comprehend! Kai Here is what Buhari said “I remember with nostalgia the performance of the commander-in-chief, General Yakubu Gowon. Every commander was given a copy of the commander-in-chief’s instructions that we were not fighting enemies but that we were fighting our brothers. And thus, people were constrained to show a lot of restraint. This only implies they were instructed to follow the Geneva Convention in the course of executing the war. This does not mean some miscreants wont overdo and ignore the directive, but it means the Nigeria Government charged its officers to respect international rules of engagement. Except FFK can show any document stating otherwise, he should actually be told to keep quiet. |
agabusta:Quite rightly, however this is not the case with this particular bill. |
GoroTango:The constitution provides for the National Assembly to override the veto of the President through a vote by two-thirds majority of both houses. Once this happens, the bill becomes law and the President cannot challenge that in court. However, the NASS is just going down a route that is useless! By the proposed Bill, INEC is till the one to determine the dates of the elections based on actual readiness of logistics and personnel thus all INEC has to do is say it is not ready for the the NA elections, post pone it by one week and voila, NASS elections is after the Presidency! The provisions in the electoral law will still give the final decision on dates to INEC. |
desreek9:Apparently, you didn't even understand or comprehend what you wrote yourself. Fix your default thinking and it would be easier to make statements you can defend. |
desreek9:I guess Shehu Sanni is from the South that is why the North is supporting their own against him! The way you are programmed to think has some issues that needs clearing . |
GoldNiagara:It is already too late! The Supreme Court of Nigeria has already settled this. If he never informed the church of their trespass during the construction stage, he has lost title to the land.. The SC has that stand to prevent people waiting until someone completes building and then trying to take ownership of his structure by claiming the land. If you didn't notify the trespasser earlier and he / she takes possession and completes the structure, you are too late! |
yungchivvy:If you turn this around in your head, and people say scammers, Yahoo boys don't force people thus nothing is wrong there, would you support the claim? |
Histrings08:Please share God's account details, abeg don't forget the BVN o! |
Naughtysite:I guess it was this Govt that started BVN regulations or when it was started some 4/5 years ago, you did not realise it will soon be used for something. You should have taken time to read the guidelines on BVN when your paddyman, GEJ, published it back then. The system is being sanitised and we should all support it. |
Konze70:If that money is important to you after doing your cost benefit analysis, then you would make the right decision. In the country where you are, if they pass a law requiring you to get something going forward, I am sure you will do it. The Nigerian government has stated what is required to operate a bank account in Nigeria, you either comply or forfeit the money. Nigeria is NOT the only country to have done this! |
musa234:it is funny how most Igbos think the Yorubas should believe they love them more than the Hausas. The history is there and no one should be trying to deceive. Is it because you had the vP slot that you were in support of the Shagari (and by extension Yaradua ) govt? Let me remind you of hos Nigeria's history has played out: 1. 1960 : Igbos voted with Hausa to form National Govt with Azikiwe as Head of Govt. 2. 1963 : Igbos voted with Hausas to form National Govt with Azikiwe as Head of Govt. 3. 1979 : Igbos voted with Hausas to form National Govt with Ekwueme as VP. 4. 1983 : Igbos voted with Hausas to form National Govt with Ekwueme as VP. 5. 1999 : Igbos teamed with Hausas to vote in OBJ as President. 6. 2003 : Igbos teamed with Hausas to vote in OBJ as President. 7. 2007 : Igbos voted with Hausas to form National Govt with adopted GEJ as VP 8: 2011 : Igbos voted with Hausas and Yorubas to have National Govt with GEJ as President. So please can you show me where the Yorubas have demonstrated more love for the Hausas than the Igbos? |
Fineman87:Bros, I marvel at your thought process o! That I advocate for trains and would prefer fast trains to connect cities does not imply I cannot be happy that roads are being constructed to link cities. Not to worry, I now know your level of reasoning: one track, motivated by lucre. |
Fineman87:Lol, I don't need a generator, I've fixed myself with renewable energy. The only issue I have is that they aren't using renewable energy sources but petrol. I see that you'd have preferred that we continue with the clueless one, so that you can say at least Police too no get light. Sorry ehn! |
Fineman87:You that followed GEJ, why didn't your hero flood Nigeria with electricity so that Ambode wouldn't need to buy generators for the police stations. What did he do with the mega revenues we were earning during his tenure? To help you, by just providing a conducive environment for law enforcement personnel to work, security can be improved across the state. People are known own to work better in cool, well lit environment. |
EZENDIZUOGU:Really! So it was the FGN through the AGF that forced her to London, or was it the FGN that bought her plane ticket or was it that she went to UK on official assignment for NIgeria? When she granted Dele Momodu that famous interview, did she not say she wasn't hiding away in London but that she was there for medical reasons. Is the AGF now a medical doctor to certify her fit to travel or override her actual doctors? |
Fineman87:I guess he should buy generators for all the SMEs in Lagos pending when the power plants would become operative. ![]() Ask the SMEs, they'd tel you that without security, power is useless. What's the use of running an SME to make money and some "boys" come to collect it? |
Yyeske:Can someone clarify, when they say soldiers invaded the South East, did they mean: a. Soldiers invaded Aba, Enugu, Anambra, Imo and Ebonyi States. b. Soldiers invaded Abia State. c. Soldiers invaded Aba. I want to be educated to enable me understand your statement. |
Fineman87:Question is, while the Govt is thinking and working towards powering the state by building power plants, should they then leave these stations without power? Building a power plant is not a 2 year plan thus that would be a long term plan therefore there should be short and medium term plans, as well as immediate amelioration plans. Personally, I would have preferred installation of solar power at these stations, I however see great benefits with having police stations being powered at all times. |
LegDoLand:This is the simpleton mindset that keeps getting this country into the abyss. You don't care if GEJ looted the country, so long as you had crumbs to eat! Na wa! Is that how you would react if the estate was your fathers own, would you not care if your senior brother was looting the family wealth? With this kind of strange reasoning, how would we get our youths to start thinking better? |
Chascop:I guess Diezani was not around GEJ, she was actually the President. |
English and comprehension is a problem in Nigeria and bloggers and half baked journalists are only making it worse! Ngige said "Osinbajo has taken over * SOME aspects of the negotiations", but it was reported as " Osinbajo TAKES OVER federal government negotiations with ASUU" The PA to Osinbajo clarifies that Osinbajo did not take over the negotiations, and it is reported as "Osinbajo disowns Ngige" . Truly, too many charlatans are involved in information dissemination in Nigeria. |
fredfish:You know this country is in trouble when so called leaders cannot even tell each other the truth or acknowledge the truth. a. Port Harcourt International Airport that has about 20 local flights and 2 International flights daily is not reasonably functional. b. The PH-Enugu rail services that runs every weekday is actually linking PH to Ondo since neither PH nor Enugu is in either SS or SE. How did we get to this state of affairs in this country? |
The writer got it all wrong! The lowering of JAMB cut-off mark has not in any way lowered the quality or standard of education in Nigeria! What JAMB was doing previously was announcing the cut-off mark for each course in each university, this was a totalitarian approach to things as it mad JAMB the be-all and end-all. Recall that despite this state, each university still admitted persons that did not meet the stated JAMB scores and there was nothing, absolutely NOTHING that JAM could do about it! So, what was all the fuss about? Now, what JAMB has done is to effectively set a MINIMUM SCORE to qualify for university admission, it has not set the criteria nor cut-off mark for university admission, this power has now been transferred to the various university senates. What this implies is that a candidate that scores 120 is eligible to compete for a space in ANY NIGERIAN university of his/her choice so long as he/she meets the admission criteria of that institution. How has this contributed to lowering the standard? Does the fact that there was a mass failure lower the standard of an examination? I can see many positive in this current policy, and I would share my thoughts. 1. JAMB can now focus on getting its examination procedures, practices and questions to the right level to test ability and knowledge. This would free it from the extra overhead of communicating and engaging with each university to determine cut-off marks, manage admissions for catchment areas, etc. 2. DECENTRALISATION: With the universities now able to carry out their own Post-UTME examinations it devolves admission criteria and policies to the universities. This way, each university is able to determine the total number of students it can cater for and provide quality education to them. This also means, each university can set its own standard through how tasking its Post-UTME exam is. If one applies to RSUST, he /she should not expect the same examination level as one who applies for the same course at UI. This would ultimately lead to universities being differentiated and promote competition amongst them for the best brains in the country to attend their institution. 3. CANDIDATES ARE IN CONTROL: With this arrangement, any candidate that scores the requisite minimum is a bride for all the universities as he/she can choose to attend the university of choice. A candidate can decide to focus all the preparations to pass a particular university's test or spread tentacles far and wide as this has removed the hitherto limit of 3 choices for university admission. 4. FUNDING: Without saying it, the biggest problem facing the university system in Nigeria is funding. ASUU is presently on strike due to funding issues. The universities being able to access funds through a large pool of candidates now opens up for them a source of funds. This implies, the more transparent and quality driven the university is, the more candidates would sit for their Post-UTME and the more funds they have to improve their institution. And of course, the converse would be true, if you do not raise your standard and make your certificate worth it, less students would come for your Post-UTME and the institution would lose. The attendant effect is that individuals and corporate entities are now going to be attracted to endow chairs with universities that promote quality through differentiation. 5. NON-UNIONISED ASUU: The ongoing strike has crippled the Nigerian universities in one fell swoop. We probably are the only country that aa the entire academia can go on strike at the same time. Once each school starts to take its own destiny in its hand, remuneration would become differentiated and a situation where strikes by UNILAG staff would affect UNIPORT would be gone for good. Therefore if this policy is implemented and followed through, there is light at the end of the tunnel for us. |
Topmaike007:Question is, why do you want to start life based on lies? It won't end well and there would be too many lies required to cover for this age ones. Remember, one never knows tomorrow, and what it entails. Your classmates aren't all gonna change ages too and your Captain / Prefect would remember your age. Don't be another Dino! |
Emanodimo:What you need is your NIN, and it is on your Temporary Slip. With or without the printed card, your NIN is gonna be the same and acceptable for verification. |
