When you put your number as private, it is not that the cell tower does not know that it is you, it is that you instructed the cell tower/Telco not to display your number to the receiver of your phone.

So even if you hide your number on a MTN line to call an Airtel number, both MTN and Airtel will receive your SIM identifier but Airtel is instructed not to display your number to the receiver. Therefore, making a private call does not hide you from persons interested in finding you.

Too many persons parade a "PhD" or "Prof" but display such baffling arrogance of ignorance.

The Govt did not say it will guarantee an elimination of kidnapping/criminality, it only provides avenue for tracing and tracking of such criminals during or after the event. Even if the kidnappers were to use the victims phone, they can still be tracked and all other SIMs that utilised the same cell tower at those periods can be traced and their owners apprehended.

Thus NIN-SIM integration is a great idea and is the norm across the world.

Different things. The N6 Billion or whatever for elections are different from the NIN infrastructure. It will be linked, but will most likely be done in the background. Also think of all the positives that people cannot just disappear anymore as they will immediately be identified when they open an account, rent an apartment or start a new work. Criminals will think twice as crime becomes harder to get away with.

The NIN has come to stay! It is the main identifier for ALL Nigerians and will be the basis upon which planning and development for the nation. Also, social services will be tied to it, which will improve security across board.

As a matter of fact, BVN will soon disappear and be discontinued as NIN will take over its purposes.

Therefore, there will be no reason to cancel this.

Mind you, the IMTOs are not flying in the forex to be disbursed (it would increase the wait time if the banks have to defend on this) so what they do is get from CBN and fulfill the demands locally at a cost to CBN.

I still don't see the need paying out the dollars locally or even allocating to the BDCs. I don't know of any country that does this though

Rather what the CBN would've done if they wish to allow dollar cash outs, mandate that the cash outs is done through the BDCs (they are the regulated black marketers of our time) who will in turn, either return it back to their bank accounts or sell to businesses.

I am totally aligned with your skepticism, however to prevent the sales at a loss, the BDC/BM will drop the exchange rates offered to people.

The IMTOs would have to credit the Foreign Reserve account of Nigeria with the equivalent USD amount since the payout is now in USD, thus CBN is only paying out what it has received and will continue to utilise its own USD for the official transactions. As more USD comes into play, the USD will have to find itself back to the banks.

The big elephant that no one is talking about is Domiciliary Accounts!!! Which other country allows ALL citizens to keep money in foreign currencies in their banks? That anyone can decide to bet against the Naira by purchasing USD and keeping in the bank, which adds no value to the economy, is the biggest travesty of the economy I have seen.

1. It's recognizing the black market and legit helping to channel forex there.

2. The black market would get saturated at a point in time because no business man or woman would go there to source forex for business and the black marketers would not sell to the banks at the CBN rate

3. Naira in circulation would be mopped up at a point in time resulting in the dollarization of the economy (no one would want tk be paid in naira)

4. At the end of the day, beneficiaries would have no option but to exchange with the banks or hoard in their domiciliary accounts.

Except that persons receiving USD would also need to buy things, pay for stuff and generally continue living which is what majority of diaspora remittances are for.

So when the son sends money to the Mum, the Mum cannot afford to keep it under the bed or in a dom accounts as she has to live, buy food, pay rent, transport and pay for medicals. At that point, there would also be more USD looking for avenues to be changed to Naira.

Hopefully, that will drive the exchange rate down. Do not also forget that at this yuletide period, as more diasporas come home, they'd also need to change the USD to Naira to pay for hotels. And if hotels will have lower rates than BDC/Black Market too.

The Governor has repeatedly it many times. Of 2 casualties he saw at the hospital, 1 was a BLUNT FORCE injury while the other suffered his gunshot wound at ADMIRALTY WAY, Lekki.

Please share the pic or video of the army moving the dead bodies from their facilities, and name the morgue that they moved them to. You should even go ahead and give this information to the Youth reps on the panel so that it can be uncovered.
