dangotesmummy: this is one of the reasons our politicians don't have any single iota of respect for Nigerians or whatever they're going through. Someone will maliciously lie against you and instead of treating the persons Bleep up so that the next person will learn and not repeat the same thing,we'll bring in sentiments.
She's an old woman She's a mother, she's this and that. Why have people become so unrepentantly ungrateful.no wonder people don't show help or love again because if you do theyll always throw it back on your faces
I've seen an instance where a woman went to her supposedly rich uncle for financial assistance to pay her sons school fees and I knew this man had the money.he can comfortably pay his fees from 200level to 400 level and it won't affect his income. The next thing he said was let's go to the boutique let me buy clothes for you. It was crystal clear he Didn't want to help her with the way he was dribbling her back and forth
When she left I then asked him uncle xyz why didn't you help this woman. She was kneeling down begging you almost crying and you and I know you can afford to give her and it won't affect you
Do you know his response. He said people are very ungrateful. We're living in a generation of ingrates.that you helped someone doesn't mean he won't plan with those who are after your downfall to bring you down. That you helped doesn't mean she can't insult you tomorrow or maliciously lie against you to implicate you
So it's plain clear this is one of the people this my big brother was talking about That Uncle is a scum, after he'd be saying he is a Christian and be asking God for His grace and favours. He is not a good person, why does he employ people seeing as some employees for work against their bosses, steal from the company and even connive to kill their bosses. You see, despite these issues, he still employs people to work for him, he simply has a bad character. |

Inside Ui, cleaners there that are popularly called "any work" can wash a a mountain of clothes and clean your house for 2000 naira. They just got greedy else if they wanted a formal arrangement, they would have said so from the get go. Nope, that people exploit people looking for "any work" is not a reason why people should be mistreated. If you use those any work people, you'd end up paying minimum of 8K monthly thus 10K monthly doesn't seem a bad deal. |

queenfav: I agree with you. I got a girl in ss2 that lives around my neighborhood to be helping me clean my apartment and wash clothes only on Saturdays. She lost her phone at a point, I got her a brand new phone of about N13, 000.I give her clothes, foodstuffs and buy her toiletries when i go to the mall. All this while i didn't place her on monthly salary.. I give her at least N1500 naira or more every Saturday. She came one day and said her mother said if i can't pay her N10000 naira monthly she should stop coming.I was shocked because this is someone i took care of like a kid sister. Funny enough she gets more than that from me if summed up. I was so pissed and told her to stop coming because it's not like she does a fantastic job that I would miss out on.On a lot of occasions she would mop my floors without sweeping it first and many other rubbish acts of laziness. Still, i was good to her and her family. Most of these helps are plain ungrateful. I watched the video and i could feel Tonto's pain because of my experience. If she shout i no blame her at all.If the nanny was innocent she would have responded to Tonto's questions. She couldn't even meet Tonto's eyes due to her guilt. IF the girl comes to clean your house regularly on every Saturday, it is normal that she expects that you formalise the arrangement and agree a fee for the expectation of her coming to clean your house. What she did is what is NORMAL. What would you have done if she did not show up on a particular Saturday, would you be angry with her? Has the need to come every Saturday to clean your house become a consideration for all her plans on Saturdays? Does the mum have to arrange her chores / duties around her coming to clean your house every Saturday? By thinking critically about the above situations, you would realise the mum was right to ask that the cleaning obligations be formalised. And if this formal arrangement was going to get the work done and reduce the money you spent on her, you should have taking the formalised option. Just my thoughts. |

Let's stop playing the age card here and call a spade what it is And you came to the conclusion that she did not come to equity with clean hands from watching this one-sided video? Lancelott: First of...it was a written agreement between the two clubs wasn't it? Your technicality no carry weight. secondly there is no listing of Easter in the agreement....guy read those citations given by the op...in case you don't know what I mean by citations, the examples listed eg this vs that... and lastly they signed up for an educational institution. CU is licensed under the NUC not a religious organization. Don't confuse both...I get your point but to say they can't sue because they agreed is wrong... quick correction, if it's not listed that you must attend Easter programmes, but it's written in an assumed form such as "you are expected in spiritual activities... " then trust me that's called entrapment and renders the agreement invalid. it can also be noted as intentional concealment by the school in a bid to mislead. Trust me grounds to sue. I hire you in a bank and you sign after reading the T&C of the company where it States you'll participate fully in the company's activities but I don't explicitly specify... you find out after signing that you have to engage in marketing which might involve professional prostitution or sleeping with rich customers to close accounts. You refuse based on principles and sue...will they use the you signed up for it excuse?? understanding matters bro. consult a lawyer Please, you are using analogies and citations that aren't relevant. Traveling for business ain't listed as part of the bank's service agreement either, but fail to show up for a scheduled business travel then go claim fundamental rights. Like I said, my opinion is no case submission but they are entitled to go to court for actual determination. |

Lancelott: Is it listed that you must attend all church programmes I ask again, if you are a member of seventh day Adventist or deeper life I think that does not celebrate Easter, so you'll compulsorily attend Easter programmes knowing fully well its against your belief. Contracts have what you call clauses my dear. Don't argue based on the principles of the church, CU is recognized as a separate entity trust and as such is billed that way. They cannot impose their beliefs of the church on members of other churches. So if they suck human blood on Wednesdays, that means you'll join them because you signed up for the tenements of a school and not a sect... look at the case of courtouise and Chelsea. when they loaned him to athletico, they signed an agreement that he won't play against Chelsea but he did..do you know why?? because the football law super cedes their agreement. The constitution provides loop holes for such agreements. Nope, the football law is not what it is, it is the EUFA provisions/rules but if he had been loaned to a club under the English FA, he would not have played against Chelsea. So you see, rules and agreements matter. Any member of the 7th Day Adventist that knowingly signs up to an agreement that warrants Easter, knowing fully well he / she doesn't celebrate Easter would be in breach of that agreement and thus would be suspended and cannot claim any fundamental rights under Nigerian laws. |

Lancelott: It's just painful... members are defending their church instead of the truth. If someone is attending seventh day adventist that worship on Saturdays, do you force them to church on Sundays? is that not a breach of rights? Imagine you don't celebrate Easter, will you attend Easter retreat? let's be factual Let me give you this hypothetical situation: You check into an hotel which clearly stated it is a Non-Smoking facility and you signed at the reception that you will not smoke. You however were caught smoking and thrown out. Would you be suing to enforce your fundamental rights of choice? |

uzolexis: The people I quoted below explained better. CU has no right to punish them for not attending a church program even if they are Christians. You know one fallacy that keeps ringing hollow: citing senior lawyers with decades of experiences, such means nothing -ZILCH! Note that at EVERY single case decided by the Supreme Court, one senior lawyer with such decades of experience is told, YOU ARE WRONG. Simple. I asked you again, which of their rights has been denied? They are clearly practicing Christians who went into an agreement knowing the rules ab initio and broke those rules and were duly suspended. For me, they could sue for wrongly suspension, demand compensation for loss of time or money due to failure to write exams BUT to sue on fundamental right to religion would be a waste of time and resources. As always until it is tested in court, no position for or against can be determined to be the correct one. |
Education › Re: The Illegality Of Covenant University Students’ Suspension By School Management by Akainzo(m): 11:46pm On May 04, 2017 |
uzolexis: The right to religious freedom is being violated. You know there are different sects of Christianity right?? They are entitled to practise their religion in their own way again as long as they are not violating any laws, if they decide they don't want to pray at that time or the way the church/school practises Christianity is contrary to theirs they should not be punished for that. Remember, the constitution is against punishment for someone exercising their fundamental human right......there, case closed. You are applying the Freedom of Religion wrongly as you are confusing "Practice" with "Religion". Pentecostal, Anglican, Catholic, Presbyterian, Baptist, Winners, Christ Embassy or Redeemed are all the SAME religion, or aren't they? I'd suggest you read the constitution and see what it actually defines what constitutes a violation of the religious freedom. |
Education › Re: The Illegality Of Covenant University Students’ Suspension By School Management by Akainzo(m): 11:00pm On May 03, 2017 |
uzolexis: it's not the same thing, pls check the constitution and know what fundamental human rights are, right to religious freedom, right to life, association etc. Your boss is not violating any law by suspending you for not coming to a meeting. How don't you get this Thus the question is, which of the Fundamental Rights is being violated: Religious freedom: The students had declared themselves to be Christians ab initio and are not being forced to adopt a new religion or being forced to practice a religion they do not profess. Right to Life: No comment. Right to association: Not an issue but if you couch this incident as their freedom not to associate with others at Easter, then I'd ask agin, would being suspended at work for not attending a meeting be a violation of the freedom of association? Freedom to Shelter: No issues. Freedom to aspire: No issues too, Unilag dey. So WHICH of the fundamental human rights is being violated? |

Nobody should force them, they are adults, they can decide for themselves whether or not they want to go. uzolexis: so what stops them from saying they are no longer christians. Remember they also have the right to change their religion at anytime. No issues with that, however they would have had to have documented evidence of notifying the school authorities prior to the Easter service or would they be changing religion AFTER the event? I believe none of them would have done such notification. |

uzolexis: This is in the constitution madam, stop talking what you don't know. The right to religious freedom is a right for every Nigerian and should not be trampled on, stop displaying your ignorance, learn and ask questions if you don't know, it helps. The question is Are they being forced to practice a different religion? Religious freedom as guaranteed by the constitution is not being violated IF the students had declared themselves to be Christians ab initio and are not claiming to be adherents of another a different religious belief. maclatunji: By Festus Ogun
Section 38(2) of the Constitution goes further by providing thus: “No person attending any place of education SHALL BE REQUIRED TO RECEIVE RELIGIOUS INSTRUCTION OR TO TAKE PART IN OR ATTEND ANY RELIGIOUS CEREMONY OR OBSERVANCE, if such instruction, ceremony or observance relates to a RELIGION OTHER THAN HIS OWN or religion not approved by his parent or guardian.” (Emphasis supplied by me).
The above provision has expressly precluded any institution from imposing religious instructions on students for any reason whatsoever. However, there are two main clauses that need to be clarified.
They are:
(1) Where the religious instruction relate to a religion other than his own OR (not AND)
(2) Where the religion is not approved by his parent or guardian. The submissions of the students signing the university entry documents ensured that provisions of Section 38(2) had not been breached. The 2 circumstances are not applicable against CU, thus it would be tough to proof their actions is against the constitution. |

or you want to pretend that sexual assault is only when there is penile penetration?
one good thing about this iteration of BBN, it has highlighted the fact that there is a serious culture of condoning sexual assault and rape in this country
people will bend over themselves to make the most bizarre excuses for the perps and slut shame the victim.
as far as most of you are concerned, its only rape if it is a stranger in a dark alley.
everything else is just slut who should be grateful for the attention. No one is slur chaming the victim, but demonizing the offender too ain't right. As far as you are concerned, TBoss was raped right, sorry o, I don't think so and I don't agree with you on the assault either. |

monex: While i agree that rape must involve penetration, groping without consent is an offence and is deemed sexual assault. The thing about the video is that:
(1) Kemen stopped immediately Tboss turned away from him (2) there is no proof as per where Kemen's hands were exactly. They shared a duvet meaning kemen could take his hands inside the duvet (3) There is no hard proof that Tboss wasn't conscious. This would have been the best way to prove an assault.
while we all know Kemen assaulted Tboss, it might be a tough case to prove in court. Bassey vs Debbie Rise is an easier case to win sef. To be honest, there is no proof of sexual ASSAULT. Sexual indiscretion, Yes but ASSAULT, No. The requirements for proof of Assault can't be achieved as no one can conclusively prove his fingers entered her. Remember, both decided to share the same bed and share the same Duvet. By sharing duvet, it is a reasonable expectation that their body parts would touch, including the privates. Thus, except anyone can prove his fingers inside her, then no assault case can stick. |

Afam4eva: I didn't really watch the Big Brother Naija 2017 but i followed most of the happening on Nairaland all over the internet. I even got to watch some highlights of the show and i saw the video where Kemen was accused of molesting TBoss.
Let me say it here that as much as the Nigerian in me feels some pity for kemen for the way he was disquaified and eventually been taunted wherever he goes, i think it's brazen idiocy to take lightly the issue of rape. If this show was done in a developed country. kemen would by now be vising the law court on a regular basis to know how many years he would spend in jail.
It's funny that some characters came out in defense of Kemen, calling TBoss all sorts of name. These people have been fvcked up by the Nigerian system, so they can't tell right from wrong. To them, if a girl comes to your house to visit, you must do her and if she refuses, you do it by force. These cretins are the worst of the worst.
Now, the idiots that i described above me aren't really my problem. My problem is when celebrities whether in the name of comedy or any form of entertainment down play what TBoss went through. I cringed when i watched AY and Helen paul tow the line of senselessness but stupidly taunting TBoss at the "Warri Again" show. As if that was not enough, AY brought the stupidity to the "AY live" that held yesterday. I cringed whenever the camera focused on TBoss while they were taunting her. Comedians took turns in humiliating her because they had nothing else to offer.
Whether you like TBoss or not, i don't think any sane human being should support the character assasination that she has suffered in the hands of these so called celebrities and quasi nonentities. I wonder why she keeps showing up in those shows anyways.
My 2cents. I would be mightily glad if you can show me a single case of months in prison in those developed countries for "groping" or "touching a private part". Note, Kemen did not rape the lady. People really do need to read up on what constitutes rape. |
