eph12: I don't think anybody is disputing the fact that Amaechi bought those helicopters. The issue on ground now is that why is the RSG unable to clear it at custom? Is it the same reason Amechi couldn't do so? Wike has said the reason: Rivers State cannot pay the requisite Duties and accrued Demurrage charges. Since Wike working with GEJ blocked the clearing since 2014 thereabout, the FG has changed its stance and now requires that everyone pays their fees. |

Tomjazzy2: The person that issued this statement should have atleast borrowed a clue from Wike and furnished us with facts, not mere allegations.
There should be copies of documents to show that attempts were indeed made to posses the said choppers, and that the Presidency declined them all.
Either ways, if we are to believe these claims by Ameachi, it then means that he equally worked to frustrate Wike's efforts at possessing the same choppers when he became Governor.
Talk more of political vendetta that is a key feature in our political landscape Here is a link to the fact. This is a newspaper report from April 2013. http://www.premiumtimesng.com/regional/ssouth-east/129199-we-bought-two-helicopters-but-for-security-reasons-governor-amaechi-says.html |

ndcide: Is that the reason why the present FG refused to give the helicopters to RSG? Even when the governor had written to customs and the president?
So because of amaech.
Okay, the FG is no longer interested in the security of rivers state now. The Govt simply said, PAY the duties! And since it has been with Customs for such a long time, you also need to pay demurrage for all these years that it had been left at the port. Waiver is a favour and not obligatory. or whatever it is called |

If you actually read the writeup, it focused on its plastic factories which is the biggest in west africa, and yea naija aint developed fully to produce all materials needed for the factory hence the need to import. Besides the CBN has a 60% to 40% forex ratio where 60% go to manufacturers who need raw materials for their factory and 40% is for the rest. Now if someone as rich and connected as innoson cant even secure forex for the RAW materials his factory needs, what do you think is happeneing to the little manufacturers in nigeria.
My own factory have shut down as well cuz of this same issue, a factory that had over 1.5 billion revenues per month in 2015.
It is really sad. If your company was making 1.5 billion per month in 2015 and it shuts down in 2016 because of Forex, clearly it was not a business built on any structure, it had no business plans or strategy but was being sponsored by "patronage". The other reason would be simple, you or whoever is running the factory is a dullard! |

If they are worth $7 million for example, it means his company saves $4 million dollars for the country per month. I don't think it's a bad deal. There is a difference between pumping money into a company and giving it Forex! Forex is pumping money into a foreign company. There are 2 things that makes you innovate, you are either forced or have a need to address. The Govt may not have the money to pump into the companies (oil price drop in a mono-economy) and may thus depend on the scarcity of Forex to force people to innovate. Is it the best idea, No!; Is it workable, Yes. |

stephenduru: As shared by Innoson Motors media aide Cornel Osigwe...
1. Foreign exchange: He said as at that period, the last time CBN approved forex for him was 6 months ago and his companies need over 3 Million Dollars’ worth of forex monthly in order to sustain its production. There is a high demand for their products, but there is little he can do if he can’t access forex to get the foreign input needed for production. Hence the forex scarcity is a major reason why his factory has closed down over 85% of its production lines.
Source: http://www.trezzyhelm.com/2017/01/innoson-motors-closes-over-85-of-its.html?m=1 On the bolded part, if your company needs $3 Million dollars monthly to produce locally, then you are actually NOT producing locally in the true sense of it! Your company should invest that N2.8 Billion ($3 mln * 3 *320) that it saved from lack of Forex into a local company that can produce that chemical that you need to import monthly! That is how local economy is developed, you can't be shipping out $3 million monthly from scarce Forex. Remember, there was a time when the plastics you are producing were being imported, then your company was setup to bridge the gap, your company can finance or co-finance another company to produce the much needed inputs, that way more employment for Nigerians and less dependence on Forex. |

Provide the power first, then negotiate for increase in tariff.
You bought the companies after bidding, now put up or shut up.
Did you take the phone (Samsung, Nokia, BlackBerry, Infinix, Tecno, etc) away before you paid the seller? Did MTN / Airtel /Etisalat / Glo allow you make the calls before you bought the credit? Without paying the right price for services, those services would not improve. Recollect people paid upwards of 20K to MTN and Airtel to ensure that investments were made in the telecomms sector that has now made it affordable for people to buy it at N200. Nobody said the services should be available across Nigeria before MTN and Econet could sell their 20K+ SIMS back then, they were allowed to roll out in Lagos, Abuja, PH and Kano! The question to ask Nigerians is simple: Where else are we paying the same prices we were paying prior to the oil price crash and devaluation? Why should we want to continue paying the same tariff for electricity as if that sector is not affected by happenings across the nation's economy? |

Below are the issues that come up: 1. Would that section completely cure before the next morning? 2. If it is not cured enough, can it then support the load of a laden aircraft? 3. Would it be safe for an aircraft to be landing on a runway where you are not sure can support your weight? 4. Should the section give way and an accident occurs, would you not have to then close the same runway/airport? Some things aren't rocket science, but it is the politics in Nigeria that is definitely the problem. |

"They want to discourage policemen from protecting me. For me, I am not worried. I am a village man and a grassroots politician. Before you kill me, you would have killed so many people ". How did Wike know the Policemen are Innocent? Was he part of the investigative panel, or is he just yarning dust as usual - like he did during the judge' house raid. discusant: Kwi kwi kwi kwi .. continue your tweets for absolute dictatorship for Nigeria under Muhammadu Buhari.
Unless you are a descendant of Othman Dan Fodio who boasted that Nigeria from the Sahel to the Atlantic coast, must be made an estate of his clan, that's how you are unable to see the bigger plot behind Buhari clan's endless attacks on the Judicial and the legislative arms of Nigeria's government of today. The clan hides behind fight against corruption to weaken the Judiciary and Legislature, as well as weaken opposition.
Didn't Buhari himself say that he wouldn't rest until Islamic Sharia Criminal codes are employed in all of Nigeria?
Is this not the first time in Nigeria's history that attempts are being made to insert use of Islamic Sharia Criminal codes into the country's constitution?
What's all the drive by Buhari and his clan to use executive arm of government to distribute Fulani cattle grazing fields to all of Nigeria, despite the refusals by many states in the country?
The grand plot by descendants of Othman Dan Fodio through Buhari now is: intimidate the Judiciary and the Legislature so that little or no obstacles shall be left on the road toward finally making Nigeria an estate of the Descendants of Othman Dan Fodio.
The process was started by military dictators loyal to the descendants of Othman Dan Fodio through creating undue large number of states and consequent political representation constituencies in northern Nigeria by foul use of land mass as criterion. That skewed political structure is why a man like Buhari would be president in the midst of thousands of younger and better educated and better qualified presidential materials in Nigeria.
What is playing out in Nigeria is a REVOLUTION by descendants of Othman Dan Fodio to stamp their authority all over Nigeria through democratic means. You forgot to mention that the nation was a Regional entity with each doing its own thing until Ironsi (an Igbo man) came and meddled it all up by getting us into a unitary system that has been the bane of Nigeria till now. When you take a decision, do not blame others for being smarter than you to exploit that your inordinate desire to their advantage. |
