You’re making the mistake of assuming that a person’s position on the existence of God defines everything about their thoughts and actions. That is a false idea. My nonbelief in God does not define who I am, it only defines my position on God, which is only one of an incalculable number of things I have an opinion on. That I am atheist does not automatically make me moral-less.

First, Moses put down the account of Creation, and all the other events that occurred up until his time in writing. Before he did this, Patriarchs like Adam, Seth, Enoch, etc. have been passing these stories down orally. It is also not improbable that these Patriarchs may have put these events down in writing, but the writings were all lost.

It is not a thing of surprise if the pagan Sumerians hear this story from these Patriarchs(as they were spreading the knowledge of the true GOD), and then twist it with their own fables and put it down in writing.

Now I am beginning to believe this Otem more. First, he was and is still my helper and the helpers of many nairalanders. He has undoubtedly helped people financially and also emotionally. His words made me build confidence in myself and not in anyone else. He is just too wise.

I personally have witnessed some of the things he spoke which came to pass.

Firstly, the case with Prophet goddys, if you don't know that case, please go and know. Goddys prophesied doom against Otem and the exact doom came upon his own head exactly two days after the day it should have happened to Otem.

Secondly, Otem said something about one 4evergod who was defending christianity with passion. Otem said that 4evergod was a 419. Two to three months later, even the blind could see that 4evergod(bbfever or naijadeyhia) is actually a 419.

Otem also said that religion will fall. Now within the last one year in Nigeria, we can see how the 'touch not my anointed' stuff is no more acceptable, And people now criticise the men of god whom Otem describe as 'Men of Thieves'

Also, Otem said that Apostle Suleiman will fall. That one is already part of my 'scripture' because it has happened already. We can see Suleiman struggling right now.

You said my argument is faulty. Then you went on to explain what you 'think' atheism is because you didn't have a better word for it. For you to say someone's argument is faulty you need to be able to understand every pertinent concept used in the discourse very well before opposing. I replied by defining it better and saying you can read more on it to understand my point. And at the end you call that intellectual arrogance. You can do better than that.

Let me ask you a question. Is it fair that after achieving certain things with my father's name that I should now change it to my husband's name after getting married?

For instance, after finishing my doctorate I got married, is it right for me to transfer the glory that should be of God and my father to my husband who never contributed to that achievement?

Note I never said I won't bear it. Everything I'll achieve under him will be under his name but not to things I've achieve before getting married to him.

What's this life all about, why do we have to spend so much catering for the sick when eventually they will still die, what's your motivation for a sustainable life or what's the purpose of life to you

Why do we keep sustaining life of those being spent in poverty, sickness etc when it all a product of chance (not a product of a maker as you claim), can't we end it all and be at peace by returning all to the state of a non-existence

Atheism IS A BELIEF that God doesn't exist. Whether it's in response to religious beliefs or not, it doesn't change what it is. Kindly read more on Atheism, Theism and Agnosticism please to have a better understanding of my point.

Hmmmm... Am not too sure you have heard about a null and alternative hypothesis in research. If my research topic is 'investigating the existence of God' and my null hypothesis is saying 'God's existence is false'. The alternative hypothesis will always give a counter claim which is 'God's existence is true'. It's when you have defined that you can arrive at any conclusion in the first place. You rejecting a hypothesis cos it's structure has flaws in it but cannot provide an alternative hypothesis makes you an agnostic not an atheist. Atheists DO NOT BELIEVE GOD EXISTS. Agnostics accept that they do not have the sufficient information to be on any side. So there is a difference.

I'd like to add to this discussion. The sinner sins. That's what he does. All humans sin.
All humans were born with free will. We are all given the right to choose. Man chose to distance himself from God(Genesis 3). Usually that is what we do - we sin. Why? Because we are guilty of sin from birth, a sinner the moment our mother conceived us (Psalm 51:5). The only way to be free from the chains of sin is to become a "child of God" - one must be born again (John 3:3-6). Otherwise, because we are innately sinful we cannot help ourselves.
We will keep on sinning. Galatians 5:19-21 shows you how bad we can get. The opposite of self control is self-indulgence, un-restraint or even indiscipline. We act this way when we do not have the Spirit of God in us. We sin. But when we become believers, the same God who created heaven and earth resides in us, guiding us into "truth". He becomes our self-control. So notice, Christians will sin, and sometimes badly! But that is when they do not allow the Spirit of God to guide their words thoughts and actions. When a Christian obeys the Word of God and listens to the Holy Spirit, they absolutely cannot sin. It is then that they can have real self-control, because self control is a FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT (Galatians 5:23). When you have the Spirit of God working in you, He restrains your appetites, your passions and your desires. That's why Christians can find strength to remain faithful to their husband and wives. When we refuse to listen to the spirit, we can do all sorts of evil - that's when we have No Self - Control. But first, a sinner needs God to have real self control. Other than that they are disciplined enough to do good (works) with God's Spirit. Even the devil can do good. But real Self-Control is found In-Christ Jesus.

Someone in this thread said it well "Self Control is a work of Grace". Yes! We nail our flesh to the cross!
