You cant take this away from PDP....good in being the ruling and the opposition party Just see how they made APC own up to their campaign promise |
The All Progressives Congress has reacted to accusations by senators of the Peoples Democratic Party that it may have reneged on a campaign promise to pay 5,000 naira monthly to unemployed youths in the country. In a statement in Abuja on Friday, the National Publicity Secretary of the APC and minister-designate, Alhaji Lai Mohammed said that the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration is putting modalities in place to implement the project. He said the delay in implementing the project was caused by the fact that the 2015 budget drawn up by the PDP-led administration of Dr. Goodluck Jonathan did not make provision for it. The APC appealed to Nigerians to shun any mischievous attempt by the PDP to mislead and confuse them on the matter. “Now, the Buhari administration has been busy putting into place measures that will make it possible to start the implementation of this project. Such measures include the introduction of the Treasury Single Account (TSA). “We are happy to inform Nigerians that as at the end of September 2015, over 1.4 trillion Naira – which hitherto was lying unproductively in various commercial banks – has been recovered and paid into the TSA. “Had the PDP not sacrificed the truth on the altar of political expediency, it would have realized that the APC never at any time indicated it has reneged on its promise to pay 5,000 Naira monthly to 25 million most vulnerable Nigerians. “In our press statement of Aug. 30th 2015, we still reiterated our plan to redeem our campaign promises, including the social security payment policy, despite the primitive looting of the treasury under the watch of the PDP. “It is therefore astonishing that the same PDP, which is becoming more and more infamous for its penchant for peddling half-truths and sensationalizing every issue, will rush to the press to celebrate the figment of its imagination that the APC will not fulfil its campaign promise regarding the payment,” the statement said. The APC said that the Buhari administration is also embarking on a massive infrastructure renewal programme in the areas of roads, rail and power, for which a 2.5-billion-dollar Infrastructure Fund is being put in place. ”Contrary to the disinformation being peddled by the PDP, the Buhari administration is poised to lift millions of Nigerians out of extreme poverty by providing social protection and safety nets with another 2.5 trillion Naira Special Intervention Fund,” the APC stressed. http://www.theheraldng.com/we-will-pay-the-5000-naira-we-promised-nigerians-apc/ |

Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has called on the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) to “urgently investigate the conduct of lawyers to the Senate President Bukola Saraki, for walking out on the Code of Conduct Tribunal on Thursday after the tribunal refused their application for stay of proceedings in the asset falsification trial against the Senate President.” The organisation said that “It is the role of Sakari’s lawyers to serve their client’s best interests but in doing so they should not act in a manner that would put the administration of justice and the society’s confidence in the judicial system and the fight against corruption at risk.” In a statement today signed by SERAP executive director Adetokunbo Mumuni the organisation said that, “Walking out on the Code of Conduct Tribunal for simply and correctly applying section 305(e) of the newly enacted Administration of Criminal Justice Act is disrespectful. It offends the basic rule that lawyers should act with integrity and professionalism, maintaining his or her overarching responsibility to ensure civil conduct.” “SERAP believes that a lawyer’s duty to the court is a fundamental obligation that defines a lawyer’s role within the adversarial system. Lawyers should at all times act to promote the rule of law and the public’s confidence in the administration of justice and not to be seen to undermine it or facilitate an infringement of the law.” “As we have seen many times, without the rule of law, the rule of the jungle takes hold and the economically and socially vulnerable fall victim to the strong and nobody is safe. The rule of law also creates a disincentive for would-be corrupt officials.” “Senior lawyers especially have a responsibility to act as the guardians of the rule of law by contributing to a strong judicial and legal system which is crucial to a well-functioning democracy and which in turn is necessary to satisfactorily prevent and combat years of official corruption in the country.” “If at all Saraki’s lawyers are dissatisfied with the ruling of the Tribunal there are laid down processes that they should have followed to demonstrate their role as officers in the temple of justice rather than granting media interviews and literally abusing the Tribunal. We urge the NBA to urgently investigate what exactly happened and to punish any professional misconduct that may have occurred.” http://linkis.com/www.vanguardngr.com/orrha |

Wailing is fast becoming an honorable act as far as APC is concerned We shall continue to wail till the APC live up to her campaign promises I hereby enjoin other well-meaning Nigerians to join the already termed wailers in protesting the brazen impunity carried out by ruling party |
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says Wednesday’s rejection by APC senators of the N5,000 monthly stipend, which they promised Nigerians during the electioneering, underscores the monumental hypocrisy of their party in getting to power by means of deceit and false promises to Nigerians. PDP National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh in a statement on Thursday said that the development is a clear confirmation of the fact that the APC is a party of hypocrites, who never had the intentions of honouring any of their campaign promises. “The PDP declares that it is absolutely obvious to all that the APC came to power riding on monumental lies and deceit in making promises they had no intentions to keep. All they wanted was to get into power and they achieved this with their lying tongues. “Indeed, the unanimity displayed by the APC senators in rejecting the promised N5, 000 monthly welfare package, especially coming after their party and the Presidency had made futile efforts to distance themselves from it, further stresses the duplicitous spirit of the APC and its reprehensible insensitivity to the feelings and aspirations of Nigerians, especially the unsuspecting youths, women and the indigent, who they shamelessly swindled with false promises. “From the foregoing therefore, Nigerians should not expect any sincere action from the President Muhammadu Buhari-led APC government on the other promises including monthly allowance to discharged but unemployed NYSC members, free meals and scholarship to school children, free houses, bringing the naira to the same value with the dollar. “Our position remains that the APC has sufficiently confirmed to the world that they have a lot to learn on the leadership values of honesty, integrity, credibility and forthrightness. “Finally, we invite Nigerians to note the powers amply vested on them by the constitution under a democracy as we urge them to stand on such powers and hold the APC and its government accountable for all their campaign promises. I guess they have given Buhari the said almighty advice and he accepted it with both hands and now implementing it. It will be wise and logical to say that the NEF's recommendation is responsible for over 6000 thousand Nigerians that have perished since may 29 So the COAS was right after all when he said that Northern elders are aiding bokoharams |

The Northern Elders Forum (NEF) said that former President, Goodluck Jonathan did not heed their advice on the best approach to handle war against Boko Haram. Speaking in an interview on Wednesday, November 4, Dr. Paul Unongo, the deputy national leader of NEF said Jonathan would have taken the credit for defeating the insurgents if he had not ignored their recommendation, The Punch reports. According to him, those recommendations were being used by President Muhammadu Buhari now. Unongo said: “We (NEF) have not written any letter to President Buhari on Boko Haram. I am sure he picked up the recommendations we sent to Jonathan and they are working for him. NEF didn’t condemn Jonathan because he is Jonathan. We gave Jonathan a piece of advice. “We were talking to him for over two years. We told him that he cannot fight Boko Haram with obsolete equipment and we told him that the battle was not only about using arms. We told him to use psychological intelligence. “We actually wanted him to get the credit for winning the deadly Boko Haram war. He (Jonathan) doubted the kidnap of the Chibok girls and actually was seen on the television dancing azonto. Our people were being killed in hundreds. This was the height of insensitivity and we just had to complain about that. We complained creatively.” The NEF leader wondered why the former president refused to implement the forum’s blueprint to end Boko Haram insurgency. Unongo faulted opinion leaders who described Buhari’s anti-corruption war as selective, saying the president’s body language showed that he would tolerate corruption. He added that the group would not hesitate to criticise the new government if it acted against the wishes of the masses. Three days ago, Tanko Yakasai, the chairman of the Northern Elders Council (NEC) warned President Buhari against the selective persecution of perceived political opponents in the name of fighting corruption. He noted that the overwhelming feeling today was that the country was returning to dictatorship. He also dismissed claims by the military that northern leaders are the sponsors of Boko Haram, challenging the authorities to name the so-called sponsors if they claimed were backing the insurgents. https://www.naij.com/628056-boko-haram-jonathan-ignored-advice-dancing-azonto-television-northern-elders.html |

Former Governor of Lagos State and the national leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu has said that about 400 million people are currently suffering from depression as a global problem out of which 12 percent (48 million) are Nigerians. Tinubu gave the statistics in Lagos at the public presentation of a book Shadows in the Mirror: the Many Faces of Depression, written by Dr. Vivian Ikem. The former governor who was represented by Mr. Sunday Dare, said for the author, a Ph.D holder in Chemical Engineering, to write so convincingly about a field of medicine shows her “intellectual discipline, curiosity and intellectual responsibility.” http://www.dailytrust.com.ng/forum/topic116-tinubu-million-nigerians-suffer-from-depression.aspx |

The injustice in Nigeria has been going on for too long. The people of the east cannot travel due to bad roads, and the government can find N200 billion to work on the NE. How much funds were sunk to rehabilitate the east after the war? Works should start from all angles, IPOB, MASSOB, Ohaneze, AKA Ikenga, BZM, etc, etc. The thought that we have small land mass is nonsense. People who don't want return can remain wherever they want. Hausa / Fulani will always have their way in Nigeria and that is why I am never against those that calls themselves the Biafrans.. Hausa / Fulani contributes nothing to the growth and development of Nigeria yet they control the resources derived outside their region... Check all the Customs commanders in all South West border towns they are Hausa/ Fulani because they know that these borders are very lucrative.. Seaport is in Western Nigeria but an Hausa / Fulani man is always the NPA chairman and controller of Customs at the Port whereas the people that has this natural gift are posted to dry lands in far North....WAKE UP SOUTHERN NIGERIA |
AS the deadline for the ongoing military operations to clear the North East of the menace of Boko Haram Islamist terrorists draws nearer, the Federal Government is set to empanel a national conference to generate ideas, strategies and momentum for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the nation’s embattled frontier. The conference, tentatively set for December 7, 2015, according to the Presidency, will involve stakeholders from the government, private sector and international partners. It is expected that the North East Marshall Plan (NEMAP), which will be designed to tackle the immediate and long term strategies for the restoration of the broken human and infrastructure of the North East, will gulp over N200 billion. It is noteworthy that the nation is preparing, well ahead of time, to help its embattled citizens wracked by violent insurgency which has claimed nearly 20,000 lives and displaced over two million people, to their feet as quickly as possible, rather than leaving them to their own devices when, hopefully, the enemy is defeated. We, however, hope that a thorough job is done in ending the insurgency first before rushing to award contracts. The insurgents must be decisively flushed out and prevented from infiltrating the law abiding populace or else the returning internally displaced persons will not have the protection they need to settle down and rebuild their lives. It does not make sense for people to go back to their communities only to live in fear of suicide bombings and hit-and-run attacks. To keep the insurgents at bay, an effective strategy for maintaining vigilance and communal partnership with the security agencies must be put in place. We must banish the notion that only the law enforcement agencies can protect us from insurgents. Everybody has a role to play. Perhaps, it is time to give the much talked about idea of community policing a chance. No one can police a community more than members of that community. While we wait for the laws to be amended to accommodate community policing, we suggest that the existing “Civilian JTF” networks, which have usefully partnered with the troops in the North East campaigns, should be strengthened. The reconstruction efforts should focus mainly on restoring broken socio-economic amenities such as schools, healthcare facilities, markets, motor parks and road networks. Particular attention should be given to farmers and small-scale businesses to rejuvenate economic activities. The people must be kept gainfully employed to avoid an upsurge of violent crimes which usually come at the end of most wars and conflicts. The conference to rebuild the North East should be a comprehensive package to ensure that insurgency never comes back, while the people victimised by the conflict are fully reactivated http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/11/north-east-rehabilitation-plan/ |

The Senate on Tuesday received a letter from President Muhammadu Buhari, seeking it’s approval for US200 million loan for Lagos state development policy II. Moving the motion by the Senate Leader, Ali Ndume moved that , the Senate ”consider the request of Mr President, Commander-in-Chief, for special approval of Lagos State Development Policy Operation (DPO) loan (Budget Support) of US200 million from the World Bank.” After deliberations, the request was referred to Ad-hoc Committee on Foreign and Local debt headed by Senator Kabiru Gaya from Kano State. http://sunnewsonline.com/new/buhari-seeks-200m-loan-for-lagos-state/ |
Fuel is now 110 in my area.... Buhari's initial gra gra of 56 naira per litre has waned. Though I am not surprised because when a player is freshly pulled into a match, he will tackle and run vigorously as if his teammates are reluctant in playing well. Only an exceptional player maintains the vigor and tempo of his game from start to the final whistle but I am afraid because at 72, there are limits to what Buhari can do. |
down to earth governor that knows the rudiment aspect of governance. unlike the other guys that cruise to campaign ground in private jets and limousine while their impoverished supporters wave brooms from the ground |

One of the Boko Haram insurgents, whose picture was among the 100 most wanted members of the terrorist sect, is a son of a police officer. The Punch reports that an unnamed police officer has said that one of the underaged Boko Haram members, paraded on the photographs by the military days back, is his missing child. According to a senior security personnel, who spoke to The Punch on the condition of anonymity, the photos of the boys alongside others were released after they were seen in highly classified photos and videos with arms and ammunition. The boys were also seen with human limbs of victims they allegedly killed while in action. Although the photos were released to make the free movement of the alleged persons difficult, it however also led to the startling revelation by a police officer that one of the children belonged to him. The children are listed under 79, 80, 81, 82, 83, 84, 85 and 99 in the 100 pictures of insurgents released by the Nigerian Army on October 29, 2015. The source said, “Nigerians should not be agitated about these pictures. The military authorities are not passing a sentence on the kids. They are declared wanted because they have committed heinous acts against humanity. All these people were caught with weapons. Some of them carried out gory activities too unpleasant to mention. “The pictures are very necessary and they are serving a strong purpose. Do you know that a policeman saw his child among them? Many parents don’t even know that their children are now fighting on the side of Boko Haram. The security agencies went a long way to get these pictures for a purpose. “The military is going after them to arrest the minors, not to kill them. The motive is to prevent them from carrying out further acts against humanity.” Meanwhile, the Nigerian army has said it has overwhelming evidence against the 100 wanted terrorists whose images were released last week. Speaking to Naij.com, the army spokesperson Sani Usman said although the army would not divulge how it identifed the suspects, he could only say that suspects were involved in some form of terrorist activity. “No, I don’t think we need to tell you how we came about them but the fact remains that they are Boko Haram terrorists suspects; they were involved in one form of terrorist activity or the other,” Usman said. https://www.naij.com/625597-police-officials-son-among-100-boko-haram-members-wanted-army.html
