Politics › Buhari Leaves Abuja For Iran On Sunday-punch by alcmene(op): 6:07pm On Nov 20, 2015
President Muhammadu Buhari will depart Abuja on Sunday for Tehran where he will participate in the third Gas Exporting Countries’ Forum opening in the Iranian capital on Monday.

According to a statement issued on Friday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, the President and the leaders of Iran, Russia, Qatar, the Netherlands, Venezuela, Oman, Algeria, the United Arab Emirates, Bolivia and other member-countries of the GECF are expected to review the current market outlook on gas.

Adesina said the leaders would also discuss strategies for boosting gas production during their meeting in Tehran.

He said Nigeria and other GECF members currently account for 42 percent of global gas production‎, 70 percent of global gas reserves, 40 percent of pipeline transmission of gas and 65 percent of the global trade in Liquefied Natural Gas.
The presidential spokesman added that Buhari who was scheduled to hold bilateral talks with other participating Heads of State and Government on the sidelines of the GECF summit, would also meet with Nigerians resident in Iran.

He said, “The President will be accompanied on the trip by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Geoffrey Onyeama; the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola; the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Mr. Ibe Kachikwu and the National Security Adviser, Maj.-Gen. Babagana Monguno (rtd.).
“He is due back in Abuja on Tuesday, November 24, 2015.”

9ice is still there oh. He might not be as popular as before but he is still there. Go and listen to Life Drama. Listen to Loke Loke on which Sean Tizzle featured him. Listen to Lord's Prayer. His songs are still on tv an radio o. Besides, 9ice made evergreen songs, he doesn't churn out rubbish garbage club songs like others. So people still listen to all his previous albums today.
And who told you people no longer listen to terryG's previous songshuh

I am not a fan to some of these self-acclaimed hip-hop stars that ventured into music out of frustration and as a last resort but i still enjoy terryG's FREE MADNESS because the beatz happens to be its selling point.

Nigerian musicians and the listeners are not after the quality of the song but its beatz....otherwise 2face and few others will be the only ones smiling to the bank.
If lyrical quality should be the yardstick then wizkid and co have no business being referred to as musicians

Politics › Just In: NNPC Pipeline Explodes(photos) by alcmene(op): 3:25pm On Nov 18, 2015
Reports just reaching Naij.com have that a pipeline belonging to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) in Warri main town, Delta state, has exploded resulting in a massive inferno that appears to be burning uncontrollably.

The cause of the fire which erupted close to the Mammy Barracks, not far from a shopping mall in the area has not yet been ascertained.
Our correspondent at the scene reports that the fire fighters who arrived to battle the inferno are just watching helplessly saying they can do little or nothing to put out the fire.

The difficulties faced by the authorities in controlling the flame follows from the fact that the explosion erupted from three spots in the pipeline and extends to about two kilometres into the bush. As at the time of filing in this report, the fire was still burning uncontrollably.

Most pipeline explosions in time past have been blamed on the activities of oil thieves. Just yesterday suspected illegal oil bunkers engaged soldiers attached to Operation Messa in gun battle at 4th Avenue, Festac area of Lagos state.

The newly appointed Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral I.E. Ibas, has vowed to use all the available resources at his disposal to confront crude oil thieves and other criminals in the maritime sector of the country.

Rapmoney:
For years, this Nigerian artiste thrilled us with bunches and dozens of trash! Many Nigerians actually spent this time dancing to his 'beats' filled with meaningless statements as lyrics!!! wink. It became so annoying when people who know nothing about good music and the generes of music in general started referring to TerryG as a hip-hop artiste!!! What an insult to hip-hop!!! Though, that didn't disturb me much because I know a lot of Nigerians don't even know how to classify music/songs.

When TerryG started this music thing some years back, he was producing and doing RnB. According to him, he wasn't selling records; he decided to 'commercialize' not only his songs but also his life. He introduced all he could into his music...flagrant display of weed smoking, drinking, celestial church bell ringing (Akpako) and other stuffs. After that, he became popular and was riding on the wings of commercial music. For TerryG, the sky was the only limit! cool.

Today, the irrelevance of this artiste in the Nigerian music industry is very clear; in fact, it is as clear as DSTV!!! grin. The young man doesn't have anything else to talk about; his weed, drink, Mr bling bling, bell ringing and other stuffs have not been able to save him. That is what is obtainable when one commercializes his music and loses his talent in the process!!! No matter how commercial you go, always remember to keep your talent intact. I know so many Nigerian artistes that are no longer heard after a short time because they either lost their talent or lacked real talent in the first place wink I believe Wizkid, Davido and some other music folks would still be in the limelight even in years to come because they still retained elements of their talent and sanity musically! As far back as year 2000, I was nodding my head to songs by the likes of Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, etc. Today, it may interest you to know that I am still doing that...and proudly too. Why? huh It is because they do commercial music but still retained their talent! They do music that suit the American populace, even down to Asia and Africa!!! cheesy

Nigerian artistes should learn how to be creative to stay relevant! It is not all about dishing out beats and crazy senseless lyrics to members of the public!!! Where is D'Smart that dis that song about pikin that wanted to drink small stout? huh No where to be found because he lacked real talent. He was only there to pick the few Naira notes he could while the fake fame lasted!

Recently, some artistes have reared their heads from no where and have started dishing out meaningless trash to the public. Let's see if the 'Share the gala, share the cake' artistes will still be relevant in the industry in the next two years!!! cool
Bad belle.....why dont you also ask why daddy showkey and african china are no longer in the news undecided

No musician reign forever....I am not a fan of terryG but the truth is that the young man has made fortune from his weird music style

Politics › Two APC Senators Again Go Phyisical And Exchange Hot Words In Public-naij.com by alcmene(op): 1:24pm On Nov 18, 2015
Senators Kabiru Marafa (APC Zamfara Central) and Ali Wakili (APC Bauchi Central) on Tuesday, November 17, threw caution to the wind and exchanged hot words which led to both of them dragging each others attires.

The altercation took place after Marafa walked out of plenary. He had raised a point of order on the composition of the Senate standing and special committees but he was ruled out of order by the Senate president, Bukola Saraki, This Day reports.

After he walked out of plenary, he went to the press centre to address journalists and was followed by Wakili who was vehement to stop him from briefing the press.

The two APC senators then engaged in a war of words and dragging of each each other’s attires. Below is what transpired between them:

Wakili: You have come here to disgrace the Senate again. Is this what you want to do for the next four years?

Marafa: I will, I will. Because I am not working for you.

Wakili: You cannot sit down there and fight against the Senate.

Marafa: I am representing Nigeria and representing my people. And let me tell you, even the nonsense thing they are saying about suspension, nobody can suspend a senator.

Wakili: You are playing to the gallery. You are playing your script. Who has ever spoken about your suspension?

Marafa: Let us talk about issues.

Wakili told Marafa he had discussed all the issues in today’s Mirror, to which Marafa replied, “Mirror, which kind Mirror? Ku samun Mirror (Get me National Mirror). I will respond to it. We raised issues. And we give orders and point of constitution order.”

Wakili asked if that was what his constituency sent him to do in the Senate and Marafa asked if he was one of the people from his constituency.

Wakili: We are talking of poverty, education. You are wasting your energy here on useless point of order. I am warning you.

Marafa: It is not useless. You can’t say that order is useless.

Wakili: I will go to your constituency and see what you have done there.

Marafa: Go back. I will go to your own. I was in politics before you when you were wearing uniform (both senators started dragging each other’s attire at this point).

Wakili: Gentlemen of the press, there are issues bedeviling this country…. (Marafa interrupts him).

Marafa then accused Wakili of supporting Saraki because he was made chairman of a committee, calling him a bloody newcomer.

To this Wakili replied: “Come, you are a storm in the Senate teacup and a gadfly.”

Marafa still dragging Wakili’s attire said reiterated that he was in politics when he (Wakili) was still wearing uniform

Wakili then asked him to let go of him, saying his long years of experience in the Senate has not helped him.

“The Senate rules says that where such a matter has been decided, you cannot raise it again,” he said.

Marafa responded: “That is nonsense! That is hypocrisy. The problem with Senate President is that he was unwilling to learn his job. In the four years he stayed there, he was absent most of the time.”

Angered by his response, Wakili told him he was too personal and it won’t help him, before they dis- banded.

Two weeks ago, the Senate announced 65 standing committees with the APC chairing 41 committees and the PDP chairing 24.

Marafa had last week told the Senate that because Saraki failed to subject the constitution of the committees to the approval of the Senate, the committees were illegal and non existent.

President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday said the country can no longer afford to spend huge amount of money on importation of food that could be produced locally.
Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, puts the average amount spent on importation of foods and agricultural commodities at over N1trn in the last two years.
Buhari, who spoke at the inauguration of the Anchor Borrowers’ Programme of CBN, and the commencement of the dry season farming in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State, stated that Nigeria has to diversify its economy in the face of the fall in oil prices.
He said agricultural produce such as groundnuts, palm oil, cotton and rubber plantation used to be the mainstay of the economy before the discovery of oil. The President noted that the economy was built on agricultural activities while gross domestic product grew steadily.

Buhari said economic diversification was no longer an option, stressing that it was the only way to economic momentum and the drive to prosperity.
He stated the Anchor Borrowers’ Programme has the potential to create million of jobs for the teeming unemployed youths in the country, while it would also lift thousands of small holder farmers out of poverty.

Earlier, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbe while commending his predecessor, Dr. Akinwunmi Adesina for the innovation introduced into the agricultural system, said he would improve on the innovation.
Ogbe said though Adesina had very good intention in the development of agriculture in the country, corruption still crept into the sector under him.
The minister said: “People supplied sharp sand as fertilizer, while fake seeds were sold to farmers. There were companies with no traceable address.”

According to him, Buhari was very concerned about incessant conflicts between farmers and grazers, saying a new approach to grazing would eventually be introduced.
Ogbe noted that one of the challenges was to persuade youths to embrace agriculture but said the present government was already working this for the benefit of the country.
In his remarks, CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele said the apex bank was concerned about the high forex spent on importation of food items that could be locally produced.

Emefiele said the situation made the CBN to set aside N40bn from the N220bn Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Fund for farmers at a single-digit interest rate of 9.0 per cent.
According to him, agricultural commodities and food import bill had averaged over N1trn in the past two years.
