Seriously, when are nigerians who always claim to be "giant of africa" going to lead the the black race to the moon/space. I thought by now (50 yrs after independence/11 yrs into the 21st century), the "giant" of africa would have built a space ship that will land a black african on the moon/space? The writer is a Rivers Igbo who once denied his IGBO Identity. But he is back in his senses now and supports everything Igbo. I disagree a lot with the article. 1st, education in the old east was not in the hands of chiefs and elites. Education in the old east was in the hands of the missions and town unions. The churches established schools in the east and awarded lots of scholarships to pupils to study higher. Secondly, Igbo communities and town unions collaboratively built schools for their villages and that helped spread education in the east. Before the war Ndigbo were at par with the Yorubas in education as a result of my reasons. The war set Ndigbo back educationaly and financially. But through hardwork, Ndigbo bounced back and reclaimed territories that once belonged to them and taking more territories.
