OK_2_NV: The FN-FAL is far better than the AK in terms of accuracy. The troops may hate them because they are not full auto rifles as they fire only one round at a time. The FN is also far heavier but it carries a higher caliber bullet. The reason it is a standard issue for the airforce being the latter in dealing with air attack from above with small arms fire power.

The heavier the caliber, the more recoil but more power and most times, less rounds. Smaller and lighter calibers will produce less recoil, less power but more rounds. You should also realize that the AK47 is over 60 years old compared to the newer guns but it still rocks well.

naptu2: There are a variety of weapons in the Nigerian Armed Forces arsenal. However, the AK47 and FN FAL are used by most of the troops because they are mass produced at DICON Kaduna. The troops hate the FN FAL (I think that's because it jams a lot) and prefer the AK47.

The government would have preferred the M16, but the Americans did not give us the license to produce them. The Russians and Belgians gave us licenses to produce the AK and FN FAL.

Not only that - the AK47 is such an easy gun to use as compared to the M-16 or other modern day weapons.

While they might have less recoil, they are not battle proven like the AK-47. Also, they might be using smaller rounds so their recoil is less as well. One of the best reasons for the wide adoption of the AK is because it is so EASY to use. You can teach a new recruit to use an AK in less than 3 hours - try that with T21 or with an M-16. Also, an AK is easy to maintain and can work in nearly all environments. Put it in sand, water or whatever - it will work and it is reliable.

There is a popular saying amongst weapon specialist - "If the world should come to an end and there is one weapon I will take - IT WILL BE AN AK-47"

It's saddening that the Nigerian Army still uses that outdated field range riffle. A weapon not ideal for close urban combat. NATO forces have since phased out field-range weapons and depend solely on the less powerful but more accurate bullpup rifles like the Steyr AUG. The rational being that these modern day automatic riffles suffer less recoil and as such are more accurate. They are also more light and thus easier to operate in close and tight environments.

The U.S. Army learnt a useful tactic in Vietnam that the NVA taught them. Due to the U.S. superior air and rear artillery support, the NVA and Khmer Rouge wasted no time in swarming the American front lines thereby limiting the possibility of U.S. commanders calling for air and rear artillery strikes to repel the superior man power of the NVA.

Today's modern warfare strategist do not recognize real estate as an advantage; positions are held only for their strategic importance and maneuverability is held premium. The new warfare recognizes body counts above all and the bullpup rifles are that sword.

That is what happens when they copy and paste from Islamic websites or when they sit at their Imams feet and rock back and forth all day long. If he had read the entire story, he would have noticed Jesus was talking about a nobleman/king and not himself. However, they so desperately wanted to attribute violence with Jesus to justify the legalized violence in the Quran.

I can bring PROOF that your Quran gave 3 different accounts on who was the first muslim. It wasn't even sure who was the first. The Bible never claimed all prophets were Jews or Christians mate. For example, Abraham wasn't a Jew, there were no Jewish people at his time. But Moses, Joshua, Isaiah, Elijah, David and even Jesus were Jews. Adam was the first man, he had no religion but he had a relationship with God - he was neither jew, christian nor muslim but your Quran claimed he was Muslim. How can be a muslim if there was no Quran to read then or say "There is no God but Allah and Mohammed is his prophet".
