Anybody who still don't believe the seriousness of covid 19, I'll just pray it take such sad exit as it happen to OP for you to have a change of mind.
Truth be told, our govt can be irresponsible and imperious just the way they are handling the pandemic but that doesn't take away our ability to reason logically. For a disease like covid 19, ignorance isn't an excuse. The numbers as reported is even far below reality.

Confirmedzombie:
I have severally here on Nairaland adviced the FG on possible ways to combat this deadly virus.

Only a total lockdown for at least Two months will stop the daily increase of cases.

Nigerians must learn to bear pains the total lockdown will cause them.

Cases kept increasing day by day. We cannot fold our arms and allow this virus to consume us.

The FG should as a matter of urgency lockdown all states for at least two months.

The military and police should be deployed to enforce the total lockdown.

Everybody must remain inside there homes.

A 5days notice should be given for citizens to stock food items in there homes

As the FG does this, I assure all Nigerians that we will overcome.
You're spot on bro. Just that two months may be too much. The mistake the govt made before was locking down just two states and fct.; it can never yeild any meaningful result considering our "normadic" nature as a country.... not even after the virus had spread to other states. The govt end up reacting/fighting the virus with kids glove.

I personally I'm getting tired of warning people of the dangers ahead and advising the govt.

daily cases are decreasing drastically in foreign countries, so they are now gradually relaxing lockdown. In Nigeria, daily cases are averagely on d increase and we're joining foreign countries to relax lock down. somethings don't just add up, are NCDC giving us d right figures?
The decision to lock down or relaxing it isn't that of NCDC but the Govt. They can only advice but not direct. Even in USA, Donald Trump didn't heed their advice.
Fashion / Re: OK Business , Fairly Used Cloth Sells More Than New Cloth. by Alexk2(m): 6:54pm On Jun 03, 2020
Pstarogood0100:
Why second hand foreign clothes when you can afford brand new foreign clothes smiley

The honest truth is people are going to pick the 2nd hand foreign valued cloth over new ones due to the fabric quality

If we can get new clothes at the same fabric standard as of this 2nd hand foreign....... Well at an affordable price, then I think we would all opt in for new ones

Lots of foreign second hand that are like brand new hence people realized that "Na Mumu dey go boutique" in second hand, you will get to select uncommon designs that you can never see someone wearing it and other many reasons.

how many people can afford brand new foreign clothes? Foreign Used Nike polo will sell for like #2500 while the new one cost 150$ or more. How many average Nigerian can afford that?
durability(not all) and a chance of seeing foreign currency in the pocket...lol Some people don't know that what is called 'foreign' is still Aba made. Most of the clothes you see in our local shops here are quality second handMost of the new wears in Nigerian "boutiques" (road side shops) are fake products made with useless and weak fabrics.

I will pick up a good and clean Okrika bag, belt, or sandals any day any time. By the time you get tired of changing belt or Jumia fake audio sandals every 2-3 months, and then you see prices like N92,000 for an authentic brand new laptop bag at ICM, Ikeja, nobody will tell you to use your head.

You forgot some of them are factory made that has never been worn by anyone they considered it overstayed.
Everyone wants something good, something perfect or at least near perfect, at an affordable price, do you now blame folks for going for good grade ok clothes when that same standard of clothing will go for an outrageously high cost? Before you say cut your clothes according..... let’s analyze the Nigerian made fabrics or clothes, how affordable are they?
How durable are they?
How well made are they?
You see most Nigerians value the money you get now than putting up a great brand that would be able to compete in the fashion industry...... lemme not talk too much
How many of them? Very low percentage
Not all OK clothes are used. Not all are cheap or of low quality.

Some of these boutiques you see around, they sell first grade OKs. They dry clean them and put inside transparent nylon. Same way they sew shirts in bulk (from Aba), put them foreign tags and sell too.

I would absolutely buy Nigerian made clothes if I could get well good quality products; but Nigerian artisans do not pay any attention to fine detail. They will always use poor material where they think you won't see it and may not bother about getting the seams straight. Plus they will delay your work for weeks or months; they are equally poor at keeping to promised schedules.

As for those Nigerian artisans who can actually sew attractive, good quality clothing, they will usually put foreign labels on them instead of building their own brand. Talk about selling their potential multimillion dollar fashion house for a pot of porridge. Totally shortsighted.

The Honest truth is that in Nigeria, to maximize profit, some Boutiques buy grade A used foreign clothes, dryclean it and hang it in the well furnished boutique with high price tag.

Some are even new...some cloth that have not been ever worn are amongst those cloth that are being brought to their countries...okirika self get grade..
Akube sure pass o! Brand new Nigerian made wey dem dey use paper dey sow, when you wash it, all the colour go comot, and they are expensive.
As for me wey sabi quality, and ready to pay little for a grade 1 akube clothes and shoes, or brand new akube wey dem never wear before
we call them second hand, but not all are used clothes. For instance, those jerseys we buy. Some club management may call for a new design, & discard all their old stock.

If you see where them dey open bale, you go understand me. Most clothes you see in Lagos roadside boutiques are gotten from those bales, washed & hung in d shop

They buy them abt N500 from bales, & resell even up to 5k
Interesting.
I should point out though, that most of the new clothes in Naija are imported from China.
Often with low quality.
These clothes aren't even naija made but China.
Nigerians can't even dream of being able to afford new American or European clothes for now.

The cheapest you can get a hoodie for instance is like $40.
Not even many well paid Nigerians can afford that.

There are Chinese clothes with higher quality but it comes at a higher price.
All in all, both have their places. In an economy like Nigeria, a real middle class Fashionista can't do without Foreign used.

Is it the tacky China jeans in the market you want to wear?
Infact, quality 'stock' jeans can't cost less than 10k brand new. How many can you afford with the small salaries in Nigeria?
This makes so much sense. We live in an environment that is extremely price sensitive.
Are you on instagram?

Crime / Man Exonerated After 37yrs In Prison Wow 'AGT' Judges In Unforgettable Audition by Alexk2(m): 8:16am On May 24, 2020
Nearly four decades after being wrongfully convicted in 1982, Archie Williams got the chance of a lifetime to fulfill one of his long-held dreams.

He gave a stunning performance of Elton John’s “Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me” to a standing ovation on “America’s Got Talent.”

But before he sang for the judges, Williams revealed a shocking story. “I was just incarcerated for 37 years for somebody else’s crime,” Willams told the judges onstage. “DNA freed me.”

In a preview for the forthcoming season, the 59-year-old’s emotional and now viral audition included the story of his exoneration. Williams was imprisoned until 2019 when new evidence which linked another individual to the crime led to a new trial and his release, according to The Innocence Project, who represented Williams.

In the clip, Williams explains what happened to him. “On the morning of Dec. 9 of 1982 a 30-year-old white woman was raped and stabbed in her home. I was arrested on Jan. 4. I couldn’t believe it was really happening. I knew I was innocent.

“I didn’t commit a crime,” he said. “But being a poor black kid, I didn’t have the economic ability to fight the state of Louisiana. At the trial, none of the fingerprints at the scene matched mine. Three people testified that I was at home, but they wanted somebody to pay. I was sentenced to life and 80 years without the possibility of parole or probation.”

Williams described the experience as “a nightmare” and said he turned to music and prayer to get through the dark times. cry cry

Logically with the high temperature in Kogi,I bet Corona virus cannot survive it there, moreover the are angry that the cannot dish out figures in Kogi like they do in other states, please leave my people in Kogi alone, Corona na by force.
So the temperature of Kogi is higher then that of maduguri, yobe, katsina..e.t.c? Bro.. Be careful to say what you know next time. The average temperature of Kogi State aside LOKOJA, is nothing near that of Lagos, bayelsa on a normal day let alone those northern states at the top of the map.
Yaya Bello and his supporters may pretent and play ignorance about this issue but it doesn't mean there is no covid 19 cases in the state judging by the strategic location of the state(the state is at the heart of Nigeria bordering 10states plus fct).
It'll be very very irresponsible of the Fg not to worry about how the governor is playing the ostrich game. Look, you can't fight the virus to finish when we have a governor like Yaya Bello who failed to do the needful.

Politics / Re: COVID-19: Lagos Lockdown Online Vote by Alexk2(m): 10:21pm On May 13, 2020
Seun:
Salary earners who have not lost their jobs yet, single people who work online, essential workers, etc, will vote yes. Most others would vote no.

A lockdown is the most brainless way to fight the Coronavirus. Our leaders need to use their wits and imagination to figure out better, smarter ways.

We cannot afford to wreck the economy by locking it down. If we wreck the economy then where will we get the money needed to fight the virus?

Yet, we cannot afford to allow lots of people to get sick and be killed by the virus. The fear of being infected is enough to wreck the economy.

The only way forward is to use face-masks and enforce science-based infection minimization rules to protect lives and also protect the economy.

It is crucial to understand that, as a poor country with a large population, we don’t have the luxury of choosing between saving lives and saving the economy. We must get people back to work, and we must keep them safe.

I disagree with you on this Seun. It was so premature in the first place to ease the lockdown when we did considering these three important factors;
1. We were so far behind in the area of testing so much so that community transmission broke forth before we could manage the foriengn import cases....uptill now, we are still lagging before compared to where we should be by now. Just imagine how many covid 19 virus carriers are walking in the streets of Lagos and sharing it since last week Monday!

2. Due to our failure above, the number of cases will keep increasing for now; we're still far from reaching the "peak" and the only logical option for now is a total lockdown while the govt must as a matter of urgency work on testing rates, isolation and management of Victims; this isn't about just Lagos state but the whole country.

3. Locking down FCT, Lagos and Ogun state only is a disaster in it's own from the start.....even if we succeed in these three places after an effective lockdown, people will carry the virus back to Lagos and Abuja thereafter. BTW, the borders are as porus as ever even during lock down.....yes I know someone will remind me of Kogi and cross-river state but it's only a typical Ostrich story who dip her head inside the ground claiming she's fine so far she's unaware of what's going on around her...It is better we face the reality now or we all face the consequences later; the choice is ours.
It is a choice between life/health and wealth/economy. Only the living talks about money bro.

Hmmmmm...marriage! .It is well with you bro.
I salute your courage and objectivity in presenting the issue.
I trust you've learnt from your mistakes and for your ex-wife, she'll definitely met his Waterloo.
It's pride that I'm seeing here and the end of it will be disastrous for her.... Just an advice to women generally; if you'll enjoy your marriage, you have to learn the path of humility no matter how financially blessed you are. Your husband should never be treated with disdain cos he earn less; he still deserve that utmost respect....
A reasonable man knows same applies to them.

He didn't stop them from working. He only said. Quarantine for 14 days before you start working.
There is no such guideline for NCDC or accredited health workers since this outbreak starts. They have been trained as such.
Every reasonable human knows that the governor is only preventing them from doing their work knowing fully well that their discovery will damage his ego. He is the one playing politics with people's lives in this case. I wonder what he'll have done if he wasn't from the ruling party...
If FG still find fault with Wike who wasn't reckless with people's live but instead took the bold steps to ensure the outbreak is stopped, I'm waiting to see what they'll do about this reckless governor who is afraid of his shadows.
