IpobAntidote:
Over population is one of the biggest problems in this country that most are not even talking about.
The rate of exponential population explosion is thr biggest reason why most are in poverty.
The economy is growing at 2 percent while population is growing at 6 to 7 percent. That's a receipe for disaster.
Religious considerations, societal norms, laziness, too much emphasis on enjoyment and sex are some of the reasons for the explosion.
Until we can control the rate of population growth or increase economic growth to 8 to 9 percent(almost impossible) poverty rate will keep climbing.
It is shocking that the leaders are not taking a more decisive action.

It was Gov Yari who described it as a sitting time bomb. Even PMB has voiced concern. But beyond rhetorics we've not seen much in action.

Population growth is not bad per say, but in our case it's heavily skewed to a particular segment which exposes inconvenient fact we try to ignore: too many poor people giving birth to too many children

They just seem to be churning out babies without the foggiest idea or plan for thier future, and such we are getting poorer and poorer.

But I think what most of us want is side hustle Basically the one you can invest and go to sleep. That's what made TB so attractive.

By the Grace I have a steady job that pays me well, but I need something else particularly one that will not make my BP exceed the normal range grin

I am still struggling to understand what they want to achieve by reducing TBills to almost nothing
Obviously they're trying discourage us. As posted in the article by Dipo, even at 4-5% it was still oversubscribed. . . So like others have noted CBN will want to borrow at the lowest possible rate, to our (TB investors) detriment unfortunately.

But what I don't get is how is our neighbor Ghana able to sustain double digit TB rates and we can't. .. bearing in mind they don't have the oil we do.

Btw is was asked a while ago the possibility of tapping into the juicy OMO auctions. No response yet.

Is it just for the foreign players or does it entail getting FX?

Apart from your parents, you shouldn't really be throwing money around. You better look for viable investment/business to put the money.

As for you gf, you can help out in a while, but it shouldn't be routine as you've made it (shes not your wife yet dammit!!) angry

Uncle, send evidences of the request to your friend, and then tell the woman you would not be sending her money again, that you are not her husband.
She is a greedy and shameless person, and would continue to demand for money if you don't do this. Do not be weak if she is not ashamed to ask, don't be ashamed to say no!! Don't bother yourself about the repercussions, they will sort themselves out and if they don't that's their wahala, as long as they don't disturb you with their family ish....

ask her if her husband is aware she is asking for help,if yes, then help her through her husband,if no, then ask her to contact you through her husband.
Bingo! I think this is best approach. I had a similar situation myself and when the wife kept disturbing me for money but each time I would tell her to inform her husband, she would bluntly refuse. It was then I saw the danger signs and had to stop.

Please be careful with that lady. Its either she is greedy or she wants to lure you to her bed. undecided

She knows 99% of men will want something in return when they gift a lady with things. Please be careful.
It's possible they have a history. And yes I've faced similar situation.

I dated a lady for about year, but due to some irreconcilable differences (as they call it) we broke up ( in good terms) and she later got married to another guy.. But she has the habit of asking me for money. Initially I used to give her, but later I stopped just as others have advised here.
