Abagworo: And what makes you think I will like to join an Igbo republic with Anambra,Ebonyi,Enugu etc?I will prefer Imo State to be a country of its own or further still Ohaji,Egbema,Oguta,Oru to each be a separate country. The only way I will like to be in a bigger country is if non -Igbos are included for diversity. thank you, you are a true Pan-african. Akhenaten: Rubbish Pan-Igbo identity is already pretty strong. And we already pretty diverse. Look at the Ika and the Ikwerre traditions. i will not insult u since you are new here, but you really have to be careful with those words go to tribalism and cultural section, then you will see if ika and ikwerre even delta ibo (not igbo here) are willing to join this igbo republic of yours |

Mobinga: 1 : Arewa would be landlocked.
2 : Sharing debts (They'll borrow from the south)
3 : They'll fight over leadership (Leading to the further secession of NE and NW) yes you are right that we are landlocked and there will be fight over leadership and further division but, the same can be said of the yorubas and igbos, also South-south |

Akhenaten: If you read his statement correctly, he doesn't care if they join the Ndi Igbo or not. He just wants a nation of Igbos. Other groups can join at their own accord. no no no, i meant when he was talking about military expansionism, does he think that since the north and middlebelt holds the military, they will now decide to give benue state away also does he think the since there will be military expansionism, that other states like kwara, kogi, benue, ebonyi, and part of anambra state will not be forcefully taken by the northern military |

Dede1: I shall not go back to colonial mentality in the formation of countries that had led to retrogressive nature of Africa. I would want Igbo land to become a republic and granted to allow Ibibio, Annang, Ogoni, Ekoi and Ijo of eastern region to join on their accord. If contiguous principles shall play a part, I shall not mind if Idoma (Benue State) joined.
However, if we had to engage in fratricidal struggle to realize this dream of Nigeria’s integration, military expansionism is a valuable option to determine where boundary shall be drawn. and if you know that, do you think benue and other middle-belt states will join you |

You yourself you'd stay in Lagos rather than moving North. yes i stayed in the lagos because it was the capital then also, it is the commercial centre of nigeria, that is the state that make money for nigeria so anyone can go there i also stayed in anambra for sometime, so it is not only lagos i stayed because development, i have also spent some days in ibadan etc and now i am back in the north which i perfer than any southern state dapobear, if you think lagos is that nice, why don't u move to lagos, why stay in Abuja(northern state) |

eku_bear: First of all, Kwara and Kogi (and possiblyy some of these other middle belt states) themselves under a free and fair referendum will overwhelming prefer to join the SW over staying in the North After all, it is clear that the future in a landlocked, economically unproductive country like "Arewa Republic" would not be the brightest, And if they decide to stay? Unfortunate, but I'll respect that. It isn't necessary that all Yoruba are in one country. What? If the North violates Igbo assets in the North, then they I guess are interested in a future in which they are an international pariah nation like Iran or North Korea. Pariah status = no access to foreign capital = zero chance of building your country quickly. So it is in their own best interest to ensure that those assets are secure. Unless they are looking for wahala. I doubt they are even permitted to block the flow of international rivers, even if it would be economically advantageous for them to do so (which it would not.) dapobear, u are talking trash here what do you mean by unproductive do you know that about 75% of the food grown in nigeria but as cash crop are from the north yes we are landlocked but we can survive just like other african countries that are landlocked are surviving some landlocked countries are even better than nigeria |

Mrs, Eve: War is genocide. People die in wars. I have never seen a war where EVERYBODY LIVED. no i do not think a war is a genocide, although people die in wars, but it is not a genocide but a war a genocide is when a group of people are killed to eradicate there kind due to religious, ethnic and other background the have a war is the fight between 2 or more groups and there is death from both groups |

isale_gan2: Akhenaten, You've got a lot of nerve picking on AlhjHarem when you yourself have ulterior motives for creating that thread - very nefarious motives indeed. The whole thread should be deleted.
I told you, several hours ago, that the picture you posted on page 2, at 7:33:24pm labeled "Biafran Soldier" is none other than Brigadier Benjamin Adekunle. Yet you did nothing and offered no explanation. I'm guessing you lifted the image from the book Adekunle's son edited "The Biafra War Letters."

I told you if you have pictures, then post them on the thread. Is that so hard for you to comprehend? Because I cannot post pictures concerning the war on my own.
It was a historical thread. Do you think I created those photos out of thin air?
You got mad at me, because I call you a tribalist. My postings on Nairaland show that I am a neutral observer who enjoys posting cultural pictures. you call you self a neutral, also a pan-african and u call me an igbo basher what are you talking about because i have igbo origin myself and if you follow my trend carefully, i only post the truth, that is you do not know how others feel when you post sure picture which is clearly one side. also, when have i bashed igbo, or is it because i say they are not 40-50 % of lagos |

ShangoThor: @ Metalgoong It serves no purpose to abuse and degrade the Yoruba because of what happened in the run-up to the war, it was never a them and us scenario, and you know it. Loads of Yoruba supported Biafra, but had to let logic prevail for self preservation reasons.
I put it to you that even though Ndigbo had a legitimate bonafide grievance, it was the wrong time to try to separate.
This issue was never about tribal ego's, it's about logic, it's time to put our differences aside in order to achieve the desired result.

Mrs, Eve: I always ask why PEOPLE are against IGBOS so, I have not yet to see why. I am thinking Jealousy and feeling of inferiority.
The same thing happened with Holocaust, Dafur, and Rwanda. Genocide will never die until the world rebirth itself again. Sorry madam, what are you talking about You are wondering why people are against igbos, it is trends like this that make people dislike even some hate igbos. did you see any genocide in the war why is it called biafra war not biafra genocide never ever ever compare biafra war to holocaust, because there was not war in holocaust, neither did jews fight back or made a war against the Nazis so biafra war is NOT a genocide war but a normal civil war like ever other civil war in africa and also never ever compare biafra war to Rwanda, did the Tutsi's fight back against the Hutus like biafra did in nigeria? the answer is pure NO did Tutsis invade other peoples land,,,NO did Tutsis mascare other people's leader to get to power ,,,,,NO did Tutsis make fun of Hutus because they were in power NO so never ever again compare a war with genocide. thank you |

The story doesn't have to take into account the part which you want it to because it is not your thread and doesn't have to cater to you. There are references above the posts and pictures of known participants so your claim is irrelevant. I've warned you before, your intentions for the Igbo and Yoruba are always bad.If you do not have anything meaningful or intellectual to same on our threads then stop posting on them. With that being said, Mods the thread should stay up it is very informative and brings out intellects. What do you mean my intention for igbo and yoruba are always bad. Secondly, do you have a meaningful contribution to any trend as we speak. I have told you to stop chasing around Nairaland, but you have to listened and it is starting to get annoying. |
